is that where you want to be?
No matter how you looked at it, Aether City’s sprawling Abandoned Sector was not a pleasant place to be by any stretch of the imagination. With piles of debris stacked waist-high in the shadows of the crumbling buildings that seemed to rise from the ground like the cracked and broken ribs of some half-buried behemoth and a permanent haze that blocked out most of the light, this area was probably the one place out there that was arguably as repulsive and run-down as The Jungle. Yet it was different out here, even if the crunch of broken bones and shattered glass underfoot echoed with the same sound as it did in the lowest level of the slums, for even Black Market agents often gave this sector a wide berth. Perhaps it was the rumors of the place being haunted that kept them away, or maybe their pride prevented them from sinking so low as to cower in the wreckage for while conditions in their favored domain were not much better, it seemed like many felt at home in the darkness rather than the perpetual dusk that was to be found in these empty streets. Only truly desperate humans and gijinka lingered in these parts for longer than necessary, and it only took a cursory glance at the smoke-wreathed empty streets to see why.
Still, as eerie and disgusting as the place was, the same smog and grime that kept most trainers - no, most sane human beings - away made it a perfect training ground for a certain Ninetales gijinka. Sure, the air wasn’t even fit for human inhalation, but when you breathed fire on a regular basis your throat tended to be made of sterner stuff. When Kouki pulled his ever-present black scarf over his nose and mouth it was not to filter the air around him but to help drown out the scents of dust, filth, and decay that hung over the vacant streets like a curse. Despite the smell, this place was a shoddy paradise for the fire-type. Few ever ventured this far out into the labyrinth of war-torn ruins, and that suited the teenager just fine. Here, he could use his abilities with little worry of someone spotting him and selling him out to Epispect’s hunters and while humans were a rarity in these parts, wild Pokémon sprang up from inside alleyways and beneath piles of long-forgotten junk like weeds. It was the perfect place for him to train, and on any other day he would’ve been glad to just go crazy burning everything in his path to a crisp, relishing in the crackle of the flames and heat on his skin. He always felt better after these little rampages, a great deal calmer once with his urge to strike out against everything and anything that came across him for fear of being harmed was satisfied. But that was not why he was here today, and so he restrained himself and instead reached into the pouch on his waist, retrieving two small, round objects from its confines once he felt he had ventured far enough.
“Rodent, Mutt, get out here.” He muttered gruffly as he pressed the release mechanism on both Pokéballs at once, red light flaring in the smoggy air as his Buneary and Growlithe materialized on the ground in front of him. Out of all the useless creatures his other half had picked up, these two and the Woobat were probably the worst of the lot - but not for long. One way or another, Kouki was determined to finally get the pair some battle experience...if only they'd actually get it through their thick heads to cooperate.
While Honoka knew to keep her distance when her trainer’s eyes were red, no sooner had Gen’s paws hit the ground than he was jumping on his master’s leg, the puppy's font paws landing on his knee with eyes wide and tongue lolling out of his mouth in a goofy grin. Disgusting, the Ninetales thought as he nudged the canine down with his foot more gently than he cared to admit - he had always had a soft spot for Growlithes after all, no matter how brain damaged this one appeared to be - and turned from the pair to nodd down the road. “We’re going training, and if you don’t like it you can sit here and wait for something hungry to come along and find you. Got it?” He asked roughly, skipping straight to the point and hoping that the creatures understood. Honoka merely nodded, playing with one of her long ears as she cast nervous glances around the area; Gen, for his part, sat there panting right where he’d fallen, still staring up at his trainer with excited eyes. Kouki snorted derisively at the sight, but took some comfort in that at least one of them looked like she was going to obey.
“Right. Then let’s get moving.” He said after a moment, motioning for them to follow as he started on his way once again, glancing back only once to see if the duo was following him...and almost broke into a smile when he saw them padding along by his side instead. Well, they might be useless in a fight now, but maybe there was hope for them yet. Hope. That was what he would call the slight stir of emotion in his chest at the sight as there was no way in hell he was going to admit to actually liking the hairballs. At least not today. WILD EKANS APPEARED! [/style] Ekans || Male || Intimidate || Poison || Level 6 Wrap || Leer || Poison StingEkans was content in his little hideyhole. Yes, living inside of a nice little nest inside an old tumbledown building was preferable to some places. In fact, he lived in a perfect little abode with an outcrop for him to sun himself when he needed to and a hiding place for when he needed to hide. He had spent many hours out sunbathing and he was proud of his tan! It made him look prettier than the rest of the Ekans in the world! Sure, few could really see the difference, but he could! Slithering over to the small shard of reflective foil he'd found in a house, he preened at the wonderful sheen to his scales that he had. He was a fine specimen of his species, yes sir! Suddenly, he twitched as he tasted a scent on the air with his flickering tongue. Pausing, he turned his head to the front of his home, tongue flicking out again. He scented a strange smell... one he hadn't scented in quite a long time. He actually couldn't remember the last time he had tasted such a thing, and if he had, he had only be a small - though still beautiful - Ekans barely the size he was now with his beautiful coils. Curiosity aroused, he slithered to the front of his home, and that was when he saw it. That beautiful expanse of slender body that he knew could only be an Ekans. He didn't care that it was wrapped around some human's neck or that that human may or may not be dangerous. He had found his mate and that was that! With one quick shiver of his body to try to rid it of any stray dust and grime to better showcase his attractively long body, he slowly slithered forward, presenting himself to the lovely Ekans. With any luck, he'd soon have a partner in his home...
WILD SNUBBULL APPEARED! [/style] Snubbull || Female || Rattled || Normal || Level 4 Ice Fang || Fire Fang || Thunder Fang || Tackle || Scary Face || Tail Whip || CharmSnubbull sighed as she plopped down on the ground, her little paws aching from all the walking she had done. She had fallen asleep a while ago and the rest of her family had wandered off, leaving her alone. Normally she might not have minded such a thing... but she hadn't had food yet and she didn't know what was safe to eat and what wasn't safe to eat. She'd tried finding something, but it didn't smell right when she had sniffed at it, and the scent had made her nose wrinkle even if she was actually rather rough and tumble, the edges of her pelt covered in the mud and dust to prove it. Her stomach grumbled loudly and she sighed again, getting back to her paws and scampering off in search of food, rummaging through the bushes heedless of the thorns and branches snagging at her fur. She crawled into the foliage to no avail, simply not able to find any food among the greenery, and when she poked her head out, it was almost as if Arceus had guided her to this wonderful bounty in reward for her persistence. There, attached to that weird moving tree-like thing, was a flapping thing that looked pretty tasty. Her mouth began to water as her pupils dilated, following the ends of the fabric. She was just so hungry. Making a break from her cover, she scampered forward towards her target, a flapping thing, and jumped up, chomping her jaws around it and then beginning to chew. It might have felt a little odd in her mouth, but if it filled her belly, that was all she cared about...

is that where you want to be?
It was difficult to see very far in any direction with this hazy atmosphere between the choking fumes and the slight glow caused by what light lingered beyond the shadows, diffused by all the dust and Arceus-knows-what in the air. Kouki could barely see past a few feet in front of his face no matter how he squinted his crimson eyes, but he was well used to the poor visibility by this visit. The boy knew full well that relying on his sight wouldn’t protect him from attacks in this lighting, and while his sense of smell was superior to that of an average human, the smog in the air overpowered his nose and left him with his ears as his most reliable guides. He was almost proud to note that his Pokémon were on the same page as he for once, as when he glanced down to make sure that they were still following him, Honoka had her cotton-tipped ears unrolled to their full length while the Growlithe just a few steps behind’s twitched at every new sound. It was odd how even an energetic puppy like Gen seemed subdued by the unnervingly quiet atmosphere, making only occasional whimpers and growls to where the canine normally jumped at the chance to bark at anything.
Of course, they would have been fools to think that the silence would last forever.
It was Gen who picked up the sound of nearby footsteps first, the fire-type stopping in his tracks and letting out a low growl the moment he heard the shuffling of paws against the cracked ground, hackles raised and his little orange body damn near vibrating in anticipation. Oh? Maybe you’re not so useless after all. His trainer thought with a vicious grin as he stopped as well, only just beginning to catch the sound himself. His throat and hands itched, the fire rolling inside him begging to be unleashed on whatever creature was foolish enough to approach him, but he forced himself to hold back this time - the Pokémon wouldn’t learn anything if he fought their battles for them. “Here it comes. Get ready -”
Before he could finish relaying the order to attack it on sight, a blur of dust-streaked pink rushed forward out of the haze and jumped at the blonde, latching onto the dangling end of his scarf before he could jump out of the way. Oh hell no! He thought with a snarl, eyes narrowing and flames licking at the back of his throat as he glared at the little pest that dared to touch his precious scarf. While it might look like a piece of useless black fabric to some, that scarf was one of the first things he bought on his own and was thus one of the few possessions that he would fight tooth and nail for. It was also cool-looking and on top of that it was the most damn comfortable piece of clothing its owner had ever owned, and like hell he was going to let some deranged normal-type tear it to pieces. “Get off!” He roared, lifting his right hand as flames began to crackle and dance around it, waiting for him to unleash the gathering energy in a point-blank Flamethrower. Unfortunately, right as the flames burst from his palm in a jet of bright red, the little shit swung on his scarf and he stumbled, missing it completely and sending the Flamethrower off into the distance - and quite accidentally toward an unsuspecting Ekans - while he tried not to faceplant into the street like a moron. He succeeded, but even though he straightened almost immediately, the Snubbull’s teeth remained firmly clamped onto the soft fabric.
Growling, Kouki prepared to fire off another Flamethrower, the boy planning to grab the Snubbull’s face this time so that it couldn’t wriggle out of the way until it finally dawned on him that doing so meant setting the very garment he was trying to save. If he were not so occupied with trying to dislodge the annoying creature at the moment, he could’ve kicked himself for his own stupidity. No, lighting it on fire would definitely not work, and hadn’t he trudged all the way out here to train his Pokémon in the first place? That’s when an idea struck him, and the trainer grabbed the other end of his scarf, freeing it from around his neck before holding it out in front of him with the normal-type still stubbornly chewing on the end - and probably getting her disgusting saliva all over it. “Oi, you two, hurry up and get rid of this thing!” He yelled, dropping the creature and, with a cringe, his scarf. Washing it later would be a pain, but that was better than losing it now.
That command seemed to be all that his Pokémon were waiting for as Honoka charged forward with a Pound attack, one of her now rolled-up ears glowing with pent-up energy before it snapped out toward the Snubbull. Gen was right on her heels, leaping over the Buneary with a furious growl to follow up her Pound with a Bite, snapping his jaws at the pink creature without a care as to whether the previous attack hit or missed. His master might not be nice sometimes, but he’d go swimming in a pond of gross water or willingly take a trip to the Pokémon Center before he allowed any harm to come to the gijinka on his watch! WILD EKANS APPEARED! [/style] Ekans || Male || Intimidate || Poison || Level 6 Wrap || Leer || Poison StingThe Ekans let out an indignant cry when he saw the little blur of dusty pink fur dart out of nowhere and clamp onto his intended mate. His whole glorious body trembled with rage at the thought of his poor precious Ekans getting hurt. Forgoing elegance, cleanliness, and other such matters, the neat Ekans dropped to the ground and slithered as fast as he could towards his target... only to get hit with a Flamethrower out of nowhere. Yelping in pain from the attack, his body throbbing from its wounds, he shook his head, righting himself. He was all right, a good deal weaker than he was before, but no less able to defend his chosen mate. "Ekansssssssss" he hissed, eyes narrowing in a Leer towards the human that had thrown the attack at him. After taking a quick moment to assess that his wounds weren't going to be fatal any time soon or really affect his ability to defend his claim, he launched himself at his enemy, his long and beautiful - albeit singed - body stretching out in the sun in a Wrap attack. Hopefully, as he attempted to squeeze compliance out of the human, the other Ekans would see how strong and brave he was! Then he would win her affections for sure!
WILD SNUBBULL APPEARED! [/style] Snubbull || Female || Rattled || Normal || Level 4 Ice Fang || Fire Fang || Thunder Fang || Tackle || Scary Face || Tail Whip || CharmSnubbull was delightedly nomming on her food, heedless of the eyes fixed on her. She was just so hungry, even this dumb piece of food that wouldn't break up in her mouth so she could swallow it was a good thing. Letting out a soft sound of exasperation, she wriggled on her prey, shaking her head to try to get it to come apart so she could eat it, but it wasn't really working out so well. Er, well... working out at all, really. All she managed to do was get a hot spot across her back, not enough to hurt mind you, but enough that she felt the difference in temperature. Her eyebrows furrowed and for the first time since she had seen her food, she began to wonder if she was going to have to fight for it. She then gave a mental shrug, figuring she'd come to that crossroad when it happened and not think about it until then.
But she had no idea that moment would come quite so quickly. Before she had any idea what was happening, she felt herself being moved and then dropped to the ground. Viewing this as a victory in spite of the fact that her little butt was throbbing, she used her paws to try to shove more of the food into her mouth only to choke at the sudden shove on her back. Scrambling about wildly with wide eyes, she quickly pulled the food out of her mouth to suck in air, her whole body heaving and pitching with the action before she yelped, a pair of jaws closing around her. Was it so much to ask to be able to eat her food in peace? Obviously so. Letting out a low sound of irritation, she wheeled about as quickly as she could, her jaws sparking as she snapped out in a Thunder Fang attack, hoping to catch one of her opponents and teach them that it was best to just leave her alone while she ate.

is that where you want to be?
Well, the annoying scarf-thief thing wasn’t down for the count yet but Kouki was pleased to see that his own Pokémon were actually doing some damage against the little fleabag. Weak or not, at least their instincts still function, he thought as he watched with a foreign feeling of pride as Gen sunk his teeth into the pink-furred normal-type’s side, eliciting a yelp from the polkadotted creature in his jaws. Maybe he’d misjudged the creature before in thinking that his sunny disposition would make him useless in battle. Then again, weren’t canine Pokémon supposed to be loyal? If it gets him to fight, I’ll have to throw myself into danger more often. He thought, about to bark out his next order when a cold shiver crawled down his spine, leaving him feeling strangely vulnerable. Perhaps another human would think it nothing more than an effect of the creepy scenery, but the blonde knew better - there was something out there that was preparing to attack and it was he, not his Pokémon, that was the target!
“Shit!” He swore inelegantly, whirling just in time for a heavy purple shape to knock him down, the teenager falling under the Ekans as it Wrapped around him and started constricting away. Immediately it became harder to breathe, the snake squeezing around him and pushing the air from his lungs, but it wasn’t enough to choke him to death just yet. The poison-type seemed injured, with several scales along its body appearing charred while the scent of smoke clung to its coiling form. Did this scaly bastard get hit by that Flamethrower? He thought in irritation as he squirmed in its grasp, trying to free his limbs though it seemed that he was getting nowhere fast.
Before he could command his Pokémon to get this damn thing off him, another pained yelp split the air - only this time it was obviously his Growlithe in pain. Muttering a curse in between constricted breaths, Kouki wriggled onto his side, red eyes narrowing when he saw the Snubbull and Gen’s positions now reversed as the wild mon sunk its teeth into the canine’s striped fur, sparks of electricity crackling around it. A low snarl left his throat as he curled his lip angrily over his teeth - not because he was worried about the furball or anything, but because it meant that he’d have to get out of this mess on his own and waste potential experience. At least, that’s what he told himself as he yelled a strained command over to his Buneary, who was looking between him and her partner with worried eyes. “What are you waiting for? Get that thing off the mutt, I can handle this fucker on my own!”
The gijinka didn’t wait to see if the normal-type followed his orders; he had more pressing matters at hand. Literally, he thought with a bite to his bottom lip as he turned his crimson glare back to the snake as it squeezed his ribs rather painfully. He wasn’t going to waste time getting rid of this snake, lest it decide to inject a shot of poison into his bloodstream next. “Just die already!” He growled, summoning up a flare of mental energy that he fired off at the poison-type clinging to him: an Extrasensory, the only psychic-type move in his arsenal and a fairly heavy-hitter.
Seeing that her trainer was okay on his own Honoka nodded in response to the order and turned to give a determined glare at the Snubbull, who was still chomping down on her dear friend. The Growlithe was struggling in the pink mon’s grasp, trying to escape her bulldog-like jaws and not having much luck. Then a pained whine escaped him as he scraped his paws against the ground furiously with his body trapped under the other creature and that was it for the Buneary. No one hurt her friends on her watch! Sure, the red-eyed version of her master was tough, but the other Pokémon on their team were another story. She was not going to let anyone hurt them - especially sweet little Gen - without a fight. “‘Neary!” She yelled, warning the Snubbull one last time to let Gen go before dashing to her friend’s side, the tip of her cottony ear briefly glowing once more before she snapped it out again, aiming another Pound at the other normal-type. WILD EKANS APPEARED! [/style] Ekans || Male || Intimidate || Poison || Level 6 Wrap || Leer || Poison StingThe Ekans pushed the human to the ground, every inch of his long, sinuous body tightening around the human who had taken his precious mate. Sure, his wounds hurt a little to constrict like that, but it was worth it, if only for the fact that he would be rescuing his mate. He tightened more and more, ignorant of his surroundings until he realized that he couldn't taste his potential mate on the air. What sort of trickery was this? He loosened up a little to wheel on his human, a hiss on his lips in outrage for this, and his fangs began glinting softly in the light as he prepared to fully display his righteous anger in an attack. But before he could strike... the air started to constrict around him. Eyes widening in panic, he desperately tried to loosen his body to escape, but he simply couldn't move to escape the powerful psychic attack. He felt his coils loosening of their own accord, slipping from around the human as he began falling, black eating at his vision until he fell unconscious and knew no more.

WILD SNUBBULL APPEARED! [/style] Snubbull || Female || Rattled || Normal || Level 4 Ice Fang || Fire Fang || Thunder Fang || Tackle || Scary Face || Tail Whip || CharmSnubbull chomped down into flesh to the sound of a sharp yelp and clung on, fueled mostly by fright now. All she had wanted was a little something to eat! That was all! And now here she was getting hurt and having to fight for it! She almost wished she could unlock her jaw and run away to somewhere where she could eat a little bit of food in peace, but alas, her jaw had locked up after the attack and thus left her powerless to open her mouth to scamper away. It also left her vulnerable to attack, as she found out when she took a Pound to the face. Crying out in pain as she was forcibly removed from her opponent, she flew through the air for a little ways before her small body bounced against the ground and then lay still. Her last thought before her eyes slipped shut was about whether or not she would ever get to taste food again before the lids fell shut and she lapsed into unconsciousness.

WILD ABSOL APPEARED! [/style] Absol || Female || Pressure || Dark || Level 8 Scratch || Feint || LeerThe mists of the future were always a shifty thing to read, the Absol mused as she padded quietly through the rubble, using her abilities to skillfully avoid any and all potential hazards even with her eyes closed. For example, she could foresee that in the future, she would be owned by a Trainer one day. She didn't know how far off in the future that was though, time was the major iffy factor in trying to predict what would happen next. Destinies were finicky things, always needing constant questioning and a discerning eye to properly unravel their twisting paths, especially since there were few - if any - markers to tell where you were on that road. Still, she liked to think she was quite adept at the art of being able to determine with a single glance what way a person would walk in life. She'd had more than enough practice at it. For example, she knew that if she continued in this direction, she would meet some strange individuals who would liven up her destiny a little. She couldn't quite determine how they would do so quite yet, the mists were hiding this detail from her, but she knew it would happen at any rate. Letting her eyes fall open so that she could leap onto a protruding rock in the rubble, she let her eyes fall over the surroundings, the picture of proud, all-knowing power.
WILD POOCHYENA APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Poochyena || Male || Run Away || Dark || Level 6 Tackle || HowlPoochyena yapped all the way as he ran, a smile on his little face as he dragged a stick around behind him. Sure, the stick may have been a little heavy, the end covered in dirt and the whole thing barely able to fit into his mouth, but he managed it, his little oddly-colored tail wagging all the while. He liked playing fetch, it was fun! Ears twitching as he heard something, he plonked his little butt down, staring absently out into the distance. What was that noise? Could it maybe be his pack howling for him? He knew he shouldn't have wandered off, but he really had to pee! It wasn't his fault he had to pee... and then he wanted a drink... and then those berries had looked really good... and then he'd found a stick... Okay, so maybe it was his fault. But hey, he'd gotten to see so much of the world already! He liked exploring. And sticks. But mostly sticks though. Sticks were great! You could grab them and chew on them and shake them and chew on them and drag them and chew on them... There was so much power in a stick! ... Wait, what was he talking about again? He cocked his head to the side and stared out into his surroundings dumbly, trying to figure out what it was he was supposed to be doing. When no epiphany occurred to him, he rolled over onto his back, flailing his paws at the sky. Why? Because he was fighting cloud monsters, that's why!

is that where you want to be?
The air that rushed into Kouki’s lungs as the Ekans fell away from his body was about as far from fresh as you could get, but that didn’t stop the boy from taking in several deep lungfuls in between coughs as he rolled over and pushed himself off the ground, hands braced against the rubble below as he caught his breath. While Wrapping him that way was hardly enough to kill the gijinka, it was still a relief to have the reptile off of him, so much so that he only stood to check if the creature was truly out of it once his lungs were satisfied once more. To his disappointment, he saw that the snake was not quite dead - it still drew breath, even if it was currently out cold. Still, killing the thing seemed like a waste of effort at this point and he’d get nothing for it, so as long as it remained unconscious and away from his damn ribs he would let it be. After all, his attention was needed elsewhere right now...though he did give the scaly creature one last angry glare over his shoulder for wasting his time and potential battle experience before turning his focus back to his own Pokémon.
A pained cry followed by a victorious squeal hit his ears right as his crimson gaze locked on his team for, true to his command, he saw the Sunbbull bounce across the ground at that very moment, dislodged from Gen’s furry flesh by a hard-hitting Pound from Honoka. The Buneary was bouncing herself, although not from the force of a blow; this was a victory dance of sorts, and while Kouki nearly growled at her not to celebrate when there was a chance her opponent might still rise to her feet, he had to admit that she had done well. Gen, too, joined in the ruckus with a happy bark as he shook his body as if to rid himself of the lingering pain the Thunder Fang had left in its wake before running towards the Snubbull. With a smirk of barely-concealed amusement his trainer followed, shaking his head slightly as he stepped forward to make sure that the normal-type was also down for the count. Sure enough, when he arrived at the creature’s side it was unmoving and silent, although Gen was back to making as much noise as he could as he hopped around the crumpled body and growled “menacingly” at it. “Serves it right,” the trainer muttered as he stared down at the mud-streaked normal-type, wrinkling his nose in disgust at how dirty it was. Even so...maybe this scarf thief could come in handy. “Girls supposedly like these things.” He mumbled, pulling a spare Pokéball from the pouch on his belt and tossing it at the creature. “Can’t see why. This one looks like it got hit in the face by a truck.” Still, if I can sell it, who cares how ugly it is?
A soft tug at his pants caught his attention and he looked down, half-expecting to see Gen chewing on his clothes again and ready to yell at him to stop, but instead he saw Honoka offering up his scarf. While he had been distracted by the Snubbull, the rabbit had wandered back to where the abandoned strip of black fabric lay on the ground and retrieved it, the bundled black garment spilling out of her grasp despite her best efforts to keep it in her arms. This time, there was no stopping the smile that tugged at Kouki’s lips as he crouched down and took the scarf from her - although he let out a low growl when he felt how wet with drool it was, through the fabric fortunately appeared unbroken - and shoved it in the pouch with the rest of his items before reaching out to give her a rough, awkward pat on the head. “Thanks. You did okay out there, I guess. For a rodent.” He muttered awkwardly, not used to complementing anyone aloud. The way Honoka squealed happily and nuzzled up against his hand only made the feeling worse, and he quickly withdrew his hand, a slight pink tinge creeping into his cheeks. “Hey,” He said as the bunny pouted, ears tucking close to her head sadly, “if you want more of that, win some more battles first. Got it?” He didn’t even wait to see her nod in return before standing, although he immediately noticed that something was off.
The growling had stopped.
“You have gotta be shitting me.” He grumbled, looking around frantically for any sign of his orange-furred companion. “Hey, mutt! Get your fuzzy butt back here!” He called into the encroaching smog, but Gen was long gone, nothing but a stray clump of fluff on the ground that had been torn out in his struggle with the Snubbull to prove that he was ever there. “Damn, he picks now of all times to go frolicking off? The fleabag better not blame me if he gets eaten.” The trainer growled in irritation, but rather than leaving the fire-type behind as he previously threatened he instead started down the road once more, intent on finding his wayward partner. After all, no matter how much trouble the canine caused, his other self was still attached to him and would probably dissolve into blubbering mush if he came to one day and saw that his precious Growlithe was no longer in their possession. “Come on. We better catch up with him before find something picking his bones out of their teeth.”
Strangely, as he walked on with Honoka at his heels, he got the eerie feeling that something was lurking out of sight, watching him....
-----------------------------------------------------
Gen knew he shouldn’t have wandered off, really! He knew it in the same way a dieting man knew that a cookie was a bad idea, but it was just too tempting not to take it. Besides, now that he was satisfied that the Pokémon who had tried to hurt his master was out of the way, it was getting a little boring waiting around for the other two in his group. And sure, he had been a bit scared of this creepy place before, but after seeing how easily Honoka had bested that Snubbull he was feeling more confident in himself - although “foolishly reckless” might be another way to put it. Not that it mattered to the Growlithe; right now, his only concern was finding something fun to do! And maybe, just maybe, he might find another Pokémon he could defeat and bring back to his master, and then master would praise him too! His tongue lolled from his mouth as he grinned at that thought, tail wagging and stirring the fog around him. First, he would get petted, and then he would work his way up from there until he got a full belly rub!
Suddenly, a new scent caught his attention - a smell that was hard to identify out here with all the other gross smells, but juuust strong enough that he could pick it up. It was..odd, kind of, but it definitely belonged to a living thing. It reminded him of Enta a little bit, at least without the slightly scorched quality his fellow canine’s scent had. Now, Enta was kind of scary sometimes, but maybe whatever was out there wouldn’t be quite so bad? He might even make a friend! His poofy cream-colored wagged faster than ever as he ventured onward, nose twitching in the air as he tried to find the source of the smell, and soon he saw it: a flash of bright colored fur against the ground, a puppy-like creature somewhat similar to himself wiggling his paws in the air. Maybe he would play with him!
With all thoughts of impressing his trainer with another victory temporarily forgotten, Gen bounced forward, behind in the air once more while he ducked his front half near to the ground in the well-known “let’s play” pose. “Lithe! Grow row?” Hey! You wanna play? He barked at the other puppy, completely distracted from his so-called adventure. If his trainer were there, he probably would’ve facepalmed at the sight. WILD SNUBBULL APPEARED! [/style] Snubbull || Female || Rattled || Normal || Level 4 Ice Fang || Fire Fang || Thunder Fang || Tackle || Scary Face || Tail Whip || CharmThe little Snubbull's body lay there, cold and still, but even in unconsciousness, her stomach gurgled softly as the juices and acids inside met air. This hadn't been one of her best days, and even worse, she hadn't even gotten some food out of it. In a flash of light, she was scooped up into a Pokeball, and then began the age-old wait to see if she would remain inside.
Twitch Twitch~ Twitch Twitch~ Twitch Twitch~ DING! The Snubbull would hopefully not remain with this Trainer for very long, and with a little luck, she might even wake up to a new Trainer and some food.
WILD SNUBBULL HAS BEEN CAUGHT!
WILD ABSOL APPEARED! [/style] Absol || Female || Pressure || Dark || Level 8 Scratch || Feint || LeerThe Absol sat up above on her rock, watching her surroundings with a vague interest shining in her otherwise apathetic eyes. She was the lord of this little drama, the ones scurrying beneath her little more than Durants on her radar, subject to the whims of destiny. Stretching her large body out, she let her limbs drape across the surface so that she could have a more comfortable position to observe the show occurring beneath her. She was there to see the Growlithe scamper off, and she was there to watch the human actually show affection to the small Buneary at his side. Just as destiny had written would happen. It was such a wonderful thing, destiny, ensuring that people kept to the paths they should keep to in life without them even being aware of it existing. Being one in her privileged position was great. It was like having the most important test in the entire world sitting on your lap and she was the one who had access to the big book of answers. Everything was there for her to see so long as she went looking for it. Caught up in the little drama, she rested her head on her paws, deciding that since destiny had been kind enough to put on a little pageant for her, she may as well pause and observe it for a while. Resting her head on her paws, she leveled her all-powerful gaze onto the drama beneath her with all the severity of watching a pair of angered Tyranitar come to blows with each other.
WILD POOCHYENA APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Poochyena || Male || Run Away || Dark || Level 6 Tackle || HowlThe Poochyena could smell a smell. It was a smelly smell. His nose thought it was quite smelly, like ashes and soot and all this other types of horrible choking smells that he got during really bad thunderstorms where the clouds would go boom really loud and his pack would get really scared. But he found he liked the smell. Tail wagging, he rolled onto his side and then paused, realizing something important. He had no idea how to get back up to his paws. Whining, he flailed his paws at the air in the hope that someone would take pity on him and tell him how to do it again. And then the next thing he knew, he was up on his paws again. Tail wagging in delight, he ran in little circles over and over and over, scampering about in simple happiness that he had managed to get back up again. Wait... was there something he should do? Sitting down on the ground with a confused look on his face, he began trying to figure it out when finally two wires in his head connected and the epiphany came to him. There was someone here and they wanted to play! Turning about quickly with his tail wagging in delight, he nodded, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he grabbed his stick and tried to heave it into the air like he's seen some of the humans do. Only thing was, the stick was actually heavier than the Poochyena was, so all he really managed to do was turn himself end over end and land muzzle-down on the ground. Still, his tail never stopped wagging throughout the entire thing, so it must not have hurt that much, right?
