LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Hayato Makoto
★ NICKNAME: Yaya, 64448-369, Night Fox,
★ MEMBER GROUP: Gijinka
★ POKEMON: Zorua
★ STATUS Legal
★ AGE: Nine
★ HEIGHT: 4'1"
★ WEIGHT: 76 lbs
★ FACE CLAIM: Mokuba Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh!
★ APPEARANCE:
In some ways, Hayato looks the same as any other kid, easily forgettable and easily recognized all at once because that's how similar he looks to some of the other kids that run around. Sure, with his personality, he's a bit of a hard kid to miss, but as far as looks go, he's pretty average. He's not all that tall, not really having hit puberty yet, and his skin is a little tanned from time spent out in the sun, even if it's not as deep as it might have been a few years ago. The heels of his palms and his knees usually have some sort of scrape on them from where he's manage to skin them playing around, but it's rare for him to bandage them, preferring to instead keep going than to slap a Band-Aid over the wound. One of the tell-tale signs of what secret lurks about him lies in his hair, a beautiful jet-black waterfall that is a little shaggy but not overly so, the longest edges of which manage to dangle halfway down his back, though a couple bits of it stick up in other directions and there's more than a few shaggy tufts that end a little higher than the rest. Still, the glossiness of the coloring speaks of a decent amount of care being bestowed upon it, so it's not like it's neglected or overly messy either. His eyes are a handsome shade of dark gray, very much akin to the color of a storm cloud or of a nice iron beam that's maybe had a little bit of weathering applied to it.
As far as clothing goes, Hayato has a very particular taste and a discernable style. He likes to wear tennis shoes of dark coloring with white laces and trimmings, white socks, and a pair of blue jeans. In fact, these things aren't really all that likely to change, the boy doesn't have a liking for shorts since it makes it easier to hurt himself by accident while running around, though he does wear through the knees of his jeans somewhat quickly since he's more into the active part of play, scrambling about and going exploring with little heed for his clothing or for too much of his own safety. During warmer months, he likes to wear a red long-sleeve shirt with orange and white striped sleeves, the boy topping that off with a blue bandanna he ties around his neck. When it gets colder, however, he likes to wear a light blue and navy long-sleeve shirt underneath an orange vest. When frightened or scared, however, or around people that he doesn't really know, it's actually pretty common for him to pull up the illusion of a Zorua, which is fairly accurate save for one detail - the boy can never get the eyes quite right, so no matter how hard he tries, the eyes of his illusion will always be the same as his actual ones.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
★ POSITIVE:
- Playful;; Above all else, Hayato is still a kid and he just wants to have some fun, and he would rather tear around a park than sit around all day, though the boy has a certain fondness for making pillow forts, bouncing on beds, and having pillow fights that has only intensified with the infusion of Zorua DNA into his small body.
- Innocent;; As might be expected from the average nine-year-old, Hayato doesn't really see some of the darker aspects of life such as insinuations of sex or death, and even though he's been through quite the ordeal over the course of his life, the boy still retains a certain child-like quality that hasn't been extinguished quite yet.
- Loving;; A little like the Zorua DNA that has been infused into his body, Hayato can be little more than a bouncy ball of fluffy terror when the mood suits him, and even when he does something wrong, he really just yearns for a kind word and some cuddling, a real sweetheart to the core who just wants to love and be loved in turn.
- Loyal;; No matter what the situation might be, Hayato will stand by someone that he calls friend, refusing to just leave them because times get tough, and even if life starts beating down on him too, he will not yield to the pressures of others just to make his own life a little easier because that's just how dear he holds those who treat him kindly.
- Trusting;; Even if he is rather wary of strangers - to the point where the boy will yell "Stranger Danger" when someone he doesn't recognize as a friend is trying to interact with him - due to the manner in which he became a Gijinka and the abuse he's suffered since, Hayato will display a stunning amount of faith in those who he has let in, always believing in them and the words they tell him until they themselves prove otherwise to him.
- Endearing;; If given the chance, Hayato can be quite the adorable kid, a cute boy with a happy laugh and such an eagerness to please that people find that, should they be given the chance to warm up to him and he in turn to them, the Zorua Gijinka can find quite the comfortable place in someone's heart.
★ NEGATIVE:
- Crybaby;; Very sensitive to the words that those close to him may throw out, Hayato thinks nothing of running to his room to cry about things, his face buried in the pillows as he sobs into them, afraid of being unwanted and of losing what little he has left.
- Clingy;; A result of being taken away from everything he ever knew and loved and locked away in a small cell in the bowels of Epispect, Hayato responds to even the slightest kindness or source of affection, the Zorua Gijinka immediately craving more and attaching himself to the source, refusing to let go, especially if he thinks that he's going to be pushed aside.
- Stubborn;; As the people at Epispect who have worked with the young boy know full well, Hayato can be downright impossible to reason with when he wants to be, the boy adhering to his own ideas and refusing to just go along with some stranger says just because they think that they can tell him what to do - the only one who gets away with ordering him around is Kou, and that's because the young boy would never go against the older's word.
- Scardy-cat;; Hayato actually is pretty easy to scare, and when he does, the boy follows a predictable series of reactions: a loud scream, trying to disguise himself as a Zorua, tightly squeezing anything that happens to be in his arms at the time, and then running away screaming his older brother Kouhei's name.
- Petty;; As might be expected from a nine-year-old boy, Hayato pays careful attention to detail, and if someone else has more than he does or if he feels that he's being neglected, he isn't afraid to voice it, a pout turning down his lips as he makes his feelings clear, though if his brother Kou happens to be the one getting favored over him, the boy will keep it in and try to let the elder have his fun.
- Spoiled;; Having been more or less brought up given anything he even remotely expressed wanting, Hayato still doesn't really understand being told even after everything that he's been through, and the results of such can result in anything from tears to a full-out tantrum.
- Close-minded;; Hayato doesn't accept anything that someone tells him, unable to understand the idea that something someone important to him could possibly be wrong or have failed him, and so he will hold onto that hope or idea long after it has been proven wrong.
★ HABITS, QUIRKS:
- When frightened, surprised, or in situations where he's not entirely comfortable, Hayato will disguise himself as a Zorua with his illusions - he's not overly proficient at it, however, and someone with a good eye can figure out that the "Zorua's" eyes are actually a stormy steel gray rather than the color they're supposed to be.
- If someone other than his brother Kouhei tries to touch him when he's not expecting it, or if he just doesn't like the person, Hayato's prone to snapping at them with his teeth, something that has earned him a muzzle or gag many times before during his days as a lab rat with Epispect.
- Hayato has a certain love for pillows and beds and blankets, the boy's old room having an absolutely huge fluffy bed with all kinds of blankets and pillows, and he adores nothing more than to be able to bounce on the bed, have a pillow fight, and to make an elaborate fort out of the pillows and blankets.
- Even before he got the transfusion of Zorua DNA into his body, Hayato adored the little fluffy Dark-types, absolutely spoiling Zuzu when he had the Zorua before the Pokemon was taken away from him, but that love has not gone away, leaving the boy with a fascination for the species that continues to this day.
★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
To most, there's only one way to describe Hayato Makoto, and the words sound suspiciously like the same that someone would use to describe the boy's Gijinka species, a Zorua: as a fluffy black ball of furry terror. Young Hayato has quite the happy laugh, which sounds often when he's allowed to play. In fact, the boy adores expending his seemingly endless energy with others, bouncing around rooms and tearing off in large rooms or open areas whenever he's allowed to. He will bounce on a bed until someone snaps at him to stop, and even then he'd be more likely to throw a pillow at your head than he would be to actually obey unless you're his older brother Kouhei, who he would probably use the puppy eyes on. Perhaps the easiest way to make the boy calm down is to give him some blankets and pillows, which will result in him taking the next several hours to construct an elaborate fort to play around in quietly, not wanting to do anything that might result in his masterpiece ending up destroyed. He can be quite whiny when denied what he wants, something that can turn into a full-blown tantrum if someone isn't careful, and with his stubborn nature, he won't settle for anything less than exactly what he wants without some serious negotiating. Sure, he might be trying, but the truth is, the kid rewards it, presenting shy kisses to the cheek of someone he really cares about and often snuggling up to people's sides adorably when he's managed to really tire himself out, turning from a ball of chaos into a little cuddlebug.
Of course, all this is assuming that you manage to get into his heart. The boy doesn't like to trust strangers, having been betrayed by them too many times to feel comfortable with placing his faith in those who he doesn't know well, but once he's come to accept you, he will not give up on you until you manage to persuade him that you've betrayed him fully and utterly. He won't abandon someone who he's given his trust to, sticking by them through thick and thin, and he'll try to bite anyone (aside from his big brother Kouhei, of course) who attempts to tell him differently. Even if he's not really insecure, he tends to get a little clingy to people he likes, needing some reassurance that he's loved and he's not going to be abandoned for someone else or because he's not wanted anymore. When his feelings are hurt, it's usually not hard to tell; the boy will immediately hide behind his usual illusion of a little Zorua and streak away to sob into his pillow. He's also rather easy to frighten, something that sends him running to whatever or whoever he thinks would be able to protect him best. He's been through a lot, and that's left it's own share of scars on the boy's psyche, but above all else, he's really just a little kid at heart, innocent and a little naive at times, but it's just part of his lovable charm, and for those who don't do anything to turn the boy against them, he can be a real sweetheart and a treasure to be around.
So if you're walking around and you see a stray Zorua that seems to be wandering around without a Trainer, be nice to it. It may actually belong to a certain young black-haired boy, or if it has a pair of beautiful steel eyes, a particular Zorua Gijinka in disguise.

H I S T O R Y
- Born the younger child of two to a small family of well-off Epispect workers, Hayato has always been treated as the baby of the small family. He was a cute kid, curious and energetic, though even from a young age, he gravitated towards his older brother, Kouhei. In fact, his earliest memory is of crawling into the elder's bed, frightened by some storm booming overhead and being soothed to sleep by the middle schooler.
- Hayato grew up under the care of his older brother, the young boy more or less spoiled by his parents to make up for the fact that they were gone for work all the time, leaving him to his brother's care, but he didn't mind, adoring Kou for the attention and care the other boy would show him, so it wasn't all too surprising that when he first entered pre-school, he became the problem child, pushing other kids down and causing trouble for his teachers since he wanted his brother.
- After a hard preschool and pre-kindergarten filled with meetings with frustrated teachers and the boy's parents, Hayato was entered into a private elementary school that shared its campus with the high school that Kouhei attended, and from there the behavior problems settled for the most part, the young boy calming down once he figured out that he could see his brother for a little while during his recess.
- It was during his first year of kindergarten that the boy started to get bullied, an easy target because of the way he would cling to his older brother when he'd visit. Sure, Hayato would fight back, but it didn't take long before Kou figured out that the scrapes and bruises the younger would come home with may not have entirely come from play. His older brother asked him to point out the bullies one day, and after Kouhei had a little talk with them, they left him alone, but the damage was already done. The boy had seen that his big brother wasn't as happy as he liked to pretend, and it was from that point on that he swore to himself that he'd try to make Kou smile as much as he could.
- For his seventh birthday, Kouhei got him a young Zorua. Delighted with the gift as he headed into his second grade year - the boy had a late birthday and was actually one of the youngest in his class - Hayato promptly named the Dark-type Zuzu. Zuzu became a constant companion, rarely far from the human when he was allowed to be out of his Pokeball and a fierce protector when Kou was in class and the bullies turned on the boy.
- And then, when school let out, Kouhei came to him with the worst news. Their parents were putting pressure on him to become a Gijinka so that they could test on him, and he had to leave. Hayato was devastated, but he put on his best brave face, promising Kou that he'd be good and take care of Zuzu and visit as soon as he got old enough to. Only the Zorua was allowed to hear the sobs he cried into his pillow, which he'd actually stolen from Kouhei's room before the elder had left, and the fluffy Dark-type tried even harder to uphold the order Kou had left to protect the boy.
- Kouhei had barely been gone a month when Hayato was taken to Epispect. He was confused, Zuzu clutched in his arms, not really understanding what was going on until they locked him in a small room. The boy screamed and tried to run, but he was trapped. He fought as hard as he could, terrified, and Zuzu turned into a little terror, the Zorua trying to be everywhere at once to bite people and protect the boy. In the end though, it meant nothing - Zuzu was taken away and Hayato received the transfusion to correct the "depression" that had come over him after his older brother had left.
- Hayato awoke to a small cell in the depths of Epispect, surrounded by concrete and without so much as a window or a single shred of comfort. He begged and pleaded for Zuzu, for Kouhei, for anything, but he was denied, the boy objectified with a number rather than a name and then observed as he wailed out his sorrow and sobbed into his pillows. He wanted Zuzu back and he wanted Kou to come back and take him far away from there. Even discovering that he could summon up illusions to pretend to be a little Zorua only cheered him up for a short time before he was sad again, the boy missing his Pokemon and his brother. He hasn't seen either of them since, but he's confident that Kou will come one day to rescue him and Zuzu from the people who hurt them.
