LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Kenji Yagari
★ NICKNAME: Jiji,
★ MEMBER GROUP: Eureka STAR member
★ POKEMON: Claydol
★ STATUS Legal
★ AGE: 19
★ HEIGHT: 5'10"
★ WEIGHT: 178 lbs
★ FACE CLAIM: Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass
★ APPEARANCE:
For most people, Kenji Yagari isn't a hard person to miss. The boy is a member of Eureka Star, and with his bouncy nature and general optimistic attitude, he tends to stick out in a crowd. He has a rather small body, slender like a rapier, and even if there is a bit of muscle there, it's very tightly corded and hugs his bones. He's so energetic that almost all of his baby fat has been burned off, leaving him with more honed physique than one that's too big for his smaller frame. His skin is paler than most, the result of preferring to lather himself in sunscreen or stay inside rather than tan himself. He has a pair of sparkling amethyst eyes underneath his chin-length black hair, but when he activates the Psychic abilities of the Claydol DNA that moves through his veins, his eyes will light up, turning from their deep violet color to a brighter magenta. However, because he's not as fond of this color, he almost always insists on wearing a pair of colored contacts when he's performing to mute the shift when he's using his abilities to enhance his dancing and help his fellow bandmates put on a good show.
As far as clothes go, Kenji can be all over the map. The boy's preferred clothing choices are actually darker clothes, and when he's allowed to make his own choice, he will wear a pair of dark slacks, dark loafers, and a black uniform jacket. However, that's not to say that the boy doesn't have his share of casual clothes. Sometimes he'll choose to wear a hoodie and a pair of black jeans, mostly to throw off fans, though his usual ploy to avoid attention is to put on a yellow uniform jacket over a white button-up shirt and a black skirt, add clip-on hair extensions, and pretend to be a girl on the rare occasions that he has to venture out and he can't pause to take the time to socialize. On stage, Kenji's outfits can vary wildly, though there are two that he's most known for. The first is an all-white outfit with golden trimmings and red orbs inset in it - they are rather similar to ceremonial robes, and it is this outfit that he dons for songs where he's singing for a little higher purpose. His usual outfit during performances, however, is the same one he auditioned with. A pair of black boots cover his feet, his legs concealed by a pair of black leather pants, and then he dons a lavender or white ruffled button-up shirt underneath an open violet jacket. Around his neck hangs a white cravat, and then on his shoulders is a long black cloak with gold trim, like the jacket, and the cloak's collar comes up high, ending above his ears, and his hands sweep the air covered in an elegant pair of black leather gloves. His last outfit, one he despises and only wears for formal functions, is a light gray button-up shirt under an open black suit jacket with a white handkerchief in the pocket and white frills at the cuffs, a small black tie around his neck and a pair of black slacks covering his legs. A pair of white kid gloves on his hands and black slacks on his feet complete the look, making Kenji one charming boy and a perfect sweetheart for the band.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
★ POSITIVE:
- Energetic;; Sure, sometimes his constant bouncing and flitting about can be rather irritating, but considering that he's part of a band that needs to perform on a regular basis, perhaps it's not a bad thing that Kenji seems to have almost limitless amounts of energy inside his little body, allowing him to do this and that, meaning that he can get done what he needs to and a little more before he crashes and sleeps for a few hours.
- Emotional;; Not really used to having to suppress his feelings, Kenji can be quite transparent on how he's feeling, and while that can sometimes lead him towards trouble when he might not be able to really hide how he feels about someone all that well, the majority of the time it actually serves to help him, giving him reason to want to perform and lending him credence because one can see with just a single look in his eyes that he genuinely wants to do what he's doing.
- Kind-hearted;; A gentle boy possessing of a large heart, Kenji could be on the street and he'd still be trying to help someone in need, the boy just a sweetheart and wanting to make people smile and laugh, which is perhaps why he initially took up singing, because it made his mother smile when he would come in and sing a song for her, and now that he's all grown up, he just wants to bring as much happiness to people as he can and help them in whatever way he can.
- Forgiving;; No matter what wrong that has been done to him, Kenji doesn't hold even the least little bit of a grudge, and sure, for the big things he might get a little angry, but his anger is more like that of a Shinx kit than a full-blown roaring Luxray and passes quickly after a brief little confrontation, at which point he is perfectly willing to let bygones be bygones and pick up the relationship exactly as it had been before, if not a little closer.
- Enthusiastic;; If Kenji gets an idea in his head, he's not the type to just abandon it without reason, and in fact, he will often bounce around to get it done, almost seeming to jump about as he goes through the preparations for it, sometimes over protests against whatever it is that he's decided to take up doing, and that energy carries him on stage easily, making the burden of performing a little easier for him to bear.
- Adorable;; A cute boy even in his childhood, Kenji hasn't lost his innocent side as he's grown up, and when he does things like present people with shy little pecks on the cheek or enthusiastic squeals of gratitude as he hugs someone close and nuzzles their face because they got him a present he really liked, there isn't a whole lot of other ways to describe him aside from the obvious: cute.
★ NEGATIVE:
- Naive;; Very trusting of other people and what they tell him, Kenji is very gullible, willing to believe anything they tell him, and it is actually this trait that has led to him believing anything that his older brother Shiro tells him, even if whatever it is that the elder happens to be telling him is actually wrong, and thus it's not an uncommon occurrence for him to be the butt of jokes without even realizing there was a joke in the first place.
- Crybaby;; Extremely sensitive to criticism, Kenji is prone to bursting into tears with the least little prompting, and though he's gotten a little better about being able to hide that tendency in recent years, the waterworks still come out when he's in private, and once they start, it's hard to get them to stop until he's been comforted by someone he's close to - especially if he feels that he's being left behind in some way.
- Insecure;; Kenji has an extremely low self-esteem, the result of being so sensitive to the feelings of others, and when he feels even remotely threatened in any way, he tends to start spiraling through panic and pessimistic thoughts, something that will just get worse and worse and worse until he is reassured that he is still wanted, and even then he's likely to doubt himself and his own abilities until he feels he's in a secure position once again.
- Perfectionist;; Sure, in most cases Kenji is pretty easy-going, but all that changes when he's given a task to work on that involves something that he's doing for someone else - immediately his whole demeanor changes and, the people-pleaser that he is at heart, he refuses to settle for anything less than absolute perfection, and that often causes him to expend enormous amounts of energy until he either gets things to a condition he's satisfied with or his body gives out from exhaustion.
- Trusting;; In most cases, placing absolute trust in someone is seen as a positive thing, but when Kenji's faith happens to be placed in the wrong person - and he naturally assumes the best intentions of people, which doesn't help his predicament - he can be a rather easy target for manipulation, something that has gotten him into trouble in the past before he's been rescued by a friend or his brother Shiro.
- Unpredictable;; As might be expected from a hyper boy like Kenji, it's hard for someone to know exactly what the boy is going to do next, and even if he's not the sort to get himself into any trouble intentionally, he can still change his mind and course as rapidly as a summer squall, and due to this tendency, he can be rather disconcerting for those who prefer consistency in their lives.
- Childish;; Despite being a full nineteen years of age, Kenji acts very immature for his age, his general mannerisms more befitting of high schooler except for a few things such as his romantic urges - or rather, the lack thereof - and his inability to sleep without having something to cuddle close whether that something happens to be his little Teddiursa bear or an actual person.
★ HABITS, QUIRKS:
- Has a fierce love for rock candy - he adores the taste of it and would probably follow anyone who promised him some of it, never mind if they actually had some in their hand.
- When he's in private, some of his energy will sap away, leaving him a little less bouncy, but the odd thing is that when he crashes, he does it hard and without any warning: one moment he'll be bouncing about the room, his usual self, and the next he'll be passed out on the couch, fast asleep.
- Kenji sleeps with a little Teddiursa bear at night (when he actually makes it to the bed before passing out at any rate), and if it's not there with him, he'll have a panic attack.
- Due to his older brother Shiro being an overprotective jerk to him when he was younger, he actually thinks that kissing is giving someone CPR because they keep almost-dying, and sadly, he honestly believes in it, and attempting to tell him otherwise is like banging your head into a brick wall, or in other words, will get you nowhere fast.
★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
On stage, Kenji Yagari is the hyper boy that every band has. He bounces about the stage as if he has enough energy to keep going for hours on end, and then when he comes off, he's still able to smile past the sheen of sweat on his brow and even go clubbing and do a few songs on the dance-floor for his fans. He never seems to run out of smiles and laughter, the perky innocent of the band, and as you might imagine, he's one of the more approachable members of Eureka Star. A sweetheart to the core, Kenji just wants to make other people smile, and he will expend all of his energy and effort if that's what it takes to make people he loves smile. He thinks nothing of going along with fan requests and giving out autographs or allowing people to take pictures, the only thanks he needs being a smile on the face of someone else. He's a little naive, not really understanding that there are people out there - including his own brother - who could be out to take advantage of him, and his childish innocence, while it makes him endearing to many of his fans, also leads to a rather strange tendency. He knows what love is, sort of, but the thing is, because of a prank his brother played on him when he was younger and then was careful to keep in play as he grew, the boy doesn't really know what a kiss is. He himself has never been kissed, and while he knows enough to be able to get that it's an expression of love between two people who are in a romantic relationship, he doesn't know that when two people lock lips, it's a kiss: he thinks that one of them is giving the other CPR. Even if someone happens to wrong him or hurt him, the Claydol Gijinka could never hold a grudge, able to forgive just about anything and everything that anyone could ever inflict upon him. Because he's so in touch with his emotions and so unused to having to lie, people can always see that he's earnest and means what he says, the boy not being the type to ever have an external motive.
In private, however, there are several different sides to Kenji that no one would ever suspect. The boy has an insecurity streak a mile wide, terrified of losing everyone he holds dear because they've moved on without him, and this trait manifests itself in various different ways. On one end, he's extremely sensitive to criticism, and even though he's able to hold back the tears until he's in private, the waterworks tend to be loud and quite vocal until he's comforted by someone he loves, usually his brother Shiro. On another, he will refuse to accept anything less than perfection when it comes to making things for other people, and as a result, he will often drill himself on his dancing and his lyrics until he either drops or until he feels that it's perfect, the Claydol Gijinka driven by a near-hysterical need to be important to the others of the band so that they don't have a need to ever replace him. And yet another oddity, he can act quite immature, needing to sleep with a nightlight and even then he has a little Teddiursa bear that stays on his bed, and if anyone ever takes it, he will wail and blubber, crying his eyes out because he's unable to sleep without having it cuddled close to his body. He tends to lose a good bit of his pep when he's all alone, or at least when he's around people where he doesn't need to be the bouncy member of the band, and if he's too exhausted to keep going, his body will shut down, usually without any warning as he falls asleep on a couch or a chair. One of his favorite things to do is to sit and watch some cartoons while munching away at a stick of rock candy, a treat that the Claydol Gijinka simply can't get enough of and will become extremely protective over.
In some ways, Kenji's all over the place, hard to predict simply because of his own boundless energy and the crushing paranoia that he will be replaced, something that he is determined to hide from other people at all costs. But the thing is, those who get close to the boy can see that he really is quite the treasure, and should they manage to earn a place inside the Claydol Gijinka's heart, they will find that they will be rewarded and cherished for as long as they maintain contact with him.

H I S T O R Y
- Kenji was born the youngest of the two Yagari boys. Both of his parents worked for Epispect and had for a number of years, which is why the family had a good bit of money to spare as the two children were growing up. However, even from a young age it was clear that Kenji was deeply attached to his older brother Shiro, often toddling around after him clutching at the elder's shirt with his Teddiursa bear dragging along behind him as he waddled along behind his big brother.
- As Kenji and Shiro both grew up, the two became less and less like each other in mannerisms and appearance. Kenji had darker hair while Shiro had light, Shiro was more academically inclined while Kenji was more of a fine arts student, Kenji was a happy-go-lucky child while Shiro was much more realistic, Shiro possessed an intelligence beyond his years while Kenji always seemed younger than he was. Kenji adored his music classes in school, always being the first to sing, and since he expressed such an interest in it, his parents saw no problems with allowing him to have voice lessons once a week along with Shiro's voice and piano lessons.
- Kenji was often bullied in school because of his scrawny appearance and his gentle heart, but it was when he was in third grade that he found himself the target of the most diabolical violation of his trusting nature, the victim of one of Shiro's mind games, though the boy was too trusting to ever figure it out. They were watching a movie and when the main couple began to kiss, Shiro told his little brother that one of them was just giving the other mouth-to-mouth resuscitation so that they wouldn't die. Naturally, Kenji believed it - what reason did his brother have to lie? - and from then on came the core of Kenji's innocent facade. The boy would never even remotely think that his big brother was lying to him, and Shiro just carefully made sure that the younger's education was kept devoid of the sexual part of that. Their parents trusted Shiro to inform Kenji about that type of thing, but it just never happened.
- When Kenji entered seventh grade, his mother became extremely sick. She'd been dealing with some respiratory problems for numerous years, the result of having been a smoker in her youth, but she simply couldn't hide it anymore. She spent the last three months of her life bedridden, and Kenji would often sob into Shiro's shoulder, unable to bear the thought of losing his mother but unable to stay away from her side. He'd often come into her room to sing to her when she was in pain, just to bring her a smile, and it was actually during one of his songs that she passed, eyes closed and a smile on her face, though he never realized it. After the death of his mother, however, his father became extremely distant, and Kenji had to rely increasingly upon his older brother for support and care.
- In high school, while most people were concerned with cliques and with Pokemon, Kenji was the loner off on his own, usually dancing and singing. He was part of the school choir and even starred in a couple of the musicals, though the highlight of his schooling days came from the small audience of students and teachers that he could draw in the mornings where he would find a small room and sing and dance. He never went to prom and he never had a romantic relationship the entire time he was there.
- When he was eighteen, graduated and out on his own with Shiro, the two brothers got horribly sick. They had caught the virus, and their parents thought nothing of putting forward the money to save them both. Kenji got the blood of a Claydol, something that ended up giving him a bit more stamina to match his energetic antics. Since he needed some time to recover, he'd been sicker than Shiro was when they'd gotten the transfusions, his parents got him a young Chatot to keep him company, and the boy has adored her ever since.
- Kenji got a job as a waiter at a small host club in the city, but the thing was, he missed being able to sing and dance. It was his calling, and when his brother found the ad for band auditions, he decided to take a chance. Or at least, he did until he got up on stage with a little costume on and his Chatot on his shoulder, feeling the disapproval coming from the band leader's eyes. He wasn't doing all too well until he looked up and happened to see his brother out in the audience. Steeling himself, the young man poured his heart into it, Teleporting across the stage and using his Rapid Spin to pour his very essence into his dancing and singing.
- Kenji's smile when he was accepted as a member of Eureka Star was wider than any others he'd given in his entire life. He was going to be part of something that he just knew he was going to adore, and when his brother Shiro walked out onto the stage right after him, his heart was in his throat. The person he'd adored more than anyone was going to try out just to follow him, and when Shiro too joined the band, the boy found himself bursting into tears of joy. Things were looking up for the boy who'd been bullied and outcast throughout his life, and he was determined to keep from being left alone ever again.
