LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Kiran Arianna Smith
★ NICKNAME: Kiki, Ki, Key, K, Thief, Ari, Anna, An, That Girl
★ MEMBER GROUP: Team Rocket
★ POKEMON: Shiny Purrloin
★ STATUS Illegal
★ AGE: Nineteen
★ HEIGHT: 5'3
★ WEIGHT: 115
★ FACE CLAIM: Ganaha Hibiki from THE iDOLM@STER
★ APPEARANCE:
Appearances aren't always about how people dress or what color their eyes are; and that certainly isn't the first thing most people will notice about Kiran. Her personality speaks volumes; and explains not only how she dresses, but how she acts as well. Energetic is a... mild term to use for her outward appearance, and carefree is a rather kind term to use for how she dresses and holds herself.
Generally wearing loose-fitting clothing; it isn't uncommon to see her in some sort of tank top under a sweatshirt that is hanging off one shoulder, or hanging loosely off both of her shoulders. Even as such; her taste in clothing knows no bounds. She will wear a short sleeved shirt with jeans if she so wishes.
Jewelry of all sorts generally adorns her arms, wrists, neck, and ears. The only thing really standard that she wears in terms of jewelry are her star-shaped earrings, of which were given to her by her sister. If one pays close enough attention, they will notice she takes them out and replaces them with other earrings when she knows she will be doing something unjust, such as a thieving job of some sort.
Kiran has darker, tanned skin, reflecting what we would consider heritage of the Mediterranean area. Her eyes are a dark blue; and in low light it would be possible to mistake them for a dark brown or something of the sort. Black, frizzy hair with blue undertones is generally wild and pulled back in some sort of restraint, whether it is a ponytail, frizzed braid, or bun. Without being pulled back, her hair easily reaches to her mid-lower back, and is chop-layered up to the point of her bangs that reach to just above her eyebrows.
Her facial structure has some very defining traits despite being round. High cheek bones define her eyes, as well as a slightly crooked and pointed nose. Her jaw line is defined enough to be strict-looking and still appear feminine, and her thin lips hide her slightly crooked teeth. A short scar splits her right eyebrow in two, make it look crooked and severed, and another faded scar runs along the right side of her nose and down to the corner of her mouth.
Standing at about 5'3" (give or take a few centimeters), Kiran isn't the tallest person around. Still, she is visibly fit with some muscle tone to her. She is by no means a weightlifter, but it is clear that she trains daily, or had trained daily in the past. Even though she stays in fit shape; it is clear she was not generously gifted in either bust or boot.
As for what can't be seen; Kiran has several scars that she purposely hides with clothing. Most are on her upper back along her shoulders. None are extremely prominent or ghastly, but are there all the same, and she makes a point to hide them to avoid questions. This does not mean they are always hidden, even while she is in public, though.

- Don't wake her up when she's asleep. She will try to claw your throat out with her eyes. She is not a morning person.
- She feeds homeless kids when she has enough money to do so.
- She is very illiterate. She can read simple words, but anything above a fourth grade reading/writing level is beyond her. Often, she will brush it off as her not needing to read to understand whatever it is.
- When faced with people who are overly serious, she will make it her life duty to trigger a non-serious reaction from them... and normally fails at this task.
★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Kiran is a handful, to put it nicely. The girl is normally one of those people who won't take no for an answer and will drag you out of your house, kicking and screaming, if she thinks you've been a shut-in for too long. She loves to have fun, and it's very evident in her everyday personality.
But under the first impressions, you will find a very broken, scared little girl who considers herself lost and beyond repair. The mask she wares to hide this can be very thorough, but that doesn't change the fact that she is very vulnerable, even if most won't notice it without knowing her to some degree.
Normally, Kiran is a childishly fun-loving girl. By nature, she is joyful beyond reason, and it'd take a lot to see through this mask she puts on... simply because she is quite honestly a joyful person. Despite the guilt and doubt she carries on her shoulders, she has found a way to escape everything and just live in the moment. This has its downfalls though, leading to cause her to be disregardful of not only her safety, but the safety of others as well. She doesn't often plan ahead, and if things don't go according to the plans she does happen to make, it is enough to shake her.
As contradictory as it might seem, this normally is not her intentions. In fact, when people she cares about get hurt, it is one of the quickest ways to shatter her little facade she puts up. Kiran is a caring person, much to her dismay. Even as strong as she is, being able to push through not only physical blows but mental ones as well... It is hard for her to trust people, so when someone has earned her full trust, she is very protective of them. She will jump in front of a speeding train if it meant saving them, so if she is the one to cause them pain, it is a heavy blow to her.
Honorable is a trait that most wouldn't link with a thief, but somehow Kiran manages it. She refuses to steal from the poor, even if it meant her neck was on the line for refusing. When she gets paid, a portion of her check always goes to feed the kids in the slums-and even when she doesn't bring food, she does everything she can for the kids without a home. She is a charitable person, and it isn't odd for her to go hungry to help these strangers. Coming from a family with high morals, there are other traits she carries around with her from her past, even if those traits were the very things that landed her in her situation in the first place. She is a reliable person, for instance. If she says she will get something done, you can bet she will drop everything to get it done as soon as possible. She is a person of her word, and promises are something she takes very seriously.
However many morals her parents installed into her young brain that she carries around, there are just as many things that they caused that go against the teachings of her parents. Don't expect to get much out of Kiran about her past... or well, anything really. She is secretive, and one motto of hers is 'Don't say any more than needed-it confuses the stupid.' and it is a motto she takes very seriously. Not to mention that you never know what is the truth with her. Sure, a promise is a promise to her, but past that there is no telling if she is lying to your face or telling you the sweet truth. Lying has become second nature to her, because she knows that the less people know the truth, the better off she will be.
Seeing Kiran defensive is something you don't want to see. A break in her happy sort of wildness, this is a sign that anger is boiling under her skin. Once someone breaks her 'happy-zone', there is rarely any returning back to that point for a few days. Kiran likes being happy, hiding from the dark emotions of her past and her guilt over her mistakes. When someone brings them up, she will hold a grudge against them. Regardless of the reason of her various grudges, don't expect her to offer these people a helping hand. She'd sooner let them dig their own graves before offering to so much as lift a hand to help them.
She is unforgiving and merciless. If you earned a spot on her shit list, the best tactic is to just avoid her. She will not take pity on you, no matter what the situation is, and she is your last chance of survival. If you wrong her, be prepared for the dark side of our little Kiran to surface-and what an ugly beast it is.
Which brings up the facades again. To put it simply, Kiran wasn't always so mistrusting and cold-hearted. Even after her parents turned on her, she had the childish optimism that everything would turn out okay no matter what it was. She never thought anything serious would happen, nothing she couldn't get out of. When she was proven wrong, it shook her to her very core, and even four years later, she hasn't recovered.
The happy mask she wears is one to hide from the monster she believes herself to be. The rage when someone shatters it, then, is rarely fully directed at the person, but also at herself. The dark emotions of anger and hate stir up everything else, and after she's dug up those emotions, she starts to feel lost.
It is for this reason that, most people who only know her as an acquaintance or work buddy, would never imagine the rage that she can lash out with.
That said, there is a very distinct difference between her attitude normally, and her attitude when she is on a job. Calculating and observant, most wouldn't believe she could be so calm unless they see it for themselves. This is a very fine line for her mentally, the bridge of her anger and her happiness. She dreads jobs for this reason, especially when others have to tag along. It is very easy to set her off in this mindset, thus why she normally insists on working alone.
If she gets angry, the only person she can be angry at or lash out at is herself.

H I S T O R Y
Kiran's story starts out as a happy one. Even though her parents were poor; they showed unparalleled compassion and caring for her and her younger sister. Both of their parents worked multiple jobs, and it was often that Kiran found herself babysitting her younger sister, even at a young age. It was a struggle to put together enough money to feed their family, but her parents tried their best to do what they could. With no real outstanding position in the work field, it was hard to find work in the first place.
However, with determination to make a comfortable life for their children, things started to improve. Finding stable jobs after a tireless search, things started to finally have a foundation of which they could build their lives upon. Still, Kiran had to learn to fend for herself at a young age. Learning to be independent at a young age certainly robbed her of her childhood; but it isn't something she regretted.
Then their father started gambling. Before long; everything her parents had worked for vanished, and yet again, the family was hungry. By the time she was six; Kiran had taken matters into her own hands. First it was taking an apple from the market and dividing it between her sister and her. Then it was the dollar the guy at the city's center dropped, followed by the watch from the drunk guy passed out at the café. Before long, Kiran found herself trading items for money, which she then bought food with for her sister and her... and her parents as well, until they found out how she was getting the food.
Her parents had always been kind toward her; and Kiran didn't think that revealing to them that she was taking things from people to get food would've been any different. They had played along when she lied and said that people gave her the food; so why would they be mad if she said she was buying it with money she got from the things she stole from people?
So when her secret was met with outrage, Kiran was astounded. Shouting words at her, demanding answers. She was punished before she could even explain in detail what had happened; and it left her young mind completely baffled. Her parents had turned into foreign strangers with one secret she told them; and it was the beginning of a long line that led to her current being.
Her parents were kind people; don't get me wrong. They held their morals above everything else, though, and when they found out their own daughter had broken one of those morals, they were panicked and confused as to what to do. The way they handled her problem only pushed her to keep what she did secret though; for there was no way she would return to hungry nights where she had gotten no supper because her father gambled all their earnings away.
So the thieving continued. By the age of nine, she had nearly mastered how to get around without her parents knowing what she was doing. That all unraveled when she tried to pick the pocket of a certain wealthy businessman and got caught. With her parents in hysterics, with a possibly severe consequence heading their way, they saw no other option but to try and physically get the point across Kiran couldn't continue taking what was not hers and what she did not earn.
Her parents became more aware of their eldest daughter's doings, and eventually Kiran stopped coming home some nights. After the first few missing alerts, they accepted that no matter what they did, she would still run away.
Kiran met both shady and kind people during that time. One person in particular took her under their wing and taught her many things of how to survive on her own. She left home with one promise to return for her sister when she could. She learned how to pick locks, as well as how to become an unsuspected antagonist in order to get bigger payouts.
Several people took pity on her, and in many ways she was very lucky to run into the people that she did-people who honestly wanted to help her.
Years passed and by the time she was fifteen; Kiran knew more than enough to not only protect herself, but also enough 'street-smarts' to avoid any unwanted attention or people. So she set out on her own. Only taking what she needed was something she had learned; and she became quite skilled in it.
The ongoing tensions between the Gijinka and humans were of no concern to her at that point in time. The only goal the youth had was to feed herself, and so everything else was of no consequence to her. Disregarding the dangers of the two sides of the war, she lived in a bubble of ignorance. Sure, she knew what was going on every day, but she didn't worry herself with getting involved.
That all changed when she caught word that her sister had become severely ill. Doing the unthinkable, Kiran returned to her family's home shortly after. She was met with a bittersweet scene. Her parents were as indecisive as ever, but Kiran had long since distanced herself from their gazes. The disappointment they held in their eyes still stung, but they didn't stop her from visiting her sister.
Her parents had explained that the virus was killing her sister, and that they were too poor to afford the cure. The cure was the very thing that Kiran had ignored in the years past; and without the procedure to turn her into a Gijinka, her sister would die.
Without telling her parents, Kiran set out to learn how to get her hands on the cure for her sister's illness. The black market was nothing she was unfamiliar with, but she found herself surrounded by the shadiest people in the market. They spoke sweet tales of how to get her hands on the cure, and she cut a deal that if she stole the cure, they would give her sister a procedure at a discounted price... given that she stole more than what was needed for just her sister.
And so Kiran pulled off the biggest job of her young life, and did so successfully. Taking her sister from her parents, who approved of her actions for once, she took her sister to the scientists of the underground to undergo the surgery to save her life. With her sister being scared, Kiran promised to go through the surgery too. That was the last time she saw her sister alive.
A week later, while still recovering, Kiran learned that her sister had died during the surgery. Her body had reacted badly, and she did not make it through the procedure. Stricken with grief, Kiran demanded answers that she never got.
During her recovery, Kiran was oblivious to the fact that her success in stealing the serums without an issue had earned the interest of a particular side of the war. She didn't know it, but she always had an eye on her after that.
Blaming herself for what happened to her sister, life became hard for Kiran. The usually upbeat person she was shattered, leaving her defenses broken down and the scarred, scared little girl she truly was, showing. Turning away from her parents once more, Kiran tried to reason with the sudden turn her life had taken. She didn't have time to dwell on it, however, because she lived day to day on the income of her thievery. Forced to keep up her act, Kiran learned to put on many masks to fool those around her.
Pushing through her guilt and regrets, Kiran set her mind on learning the new abilities she had as an Gijinka. Slowly growing in skill, Kiran learned she could do bigger jobs-and it was all going well until she tried to pickpocket the wrong person. Getting caught was something rare for her, but she was not met with the sudden rage she normally was. Little did she know it was most likely all planned out.
Instead, the stranger offered a proposition. In return of them not turning her into the police, if she joined a side in the war against Epispect, she would be let off free. After hearing their proposition and the reason why, Kiran hesitantly agreed to it.
Becoming a Team Rocket member was not what she had dreamed about when she was a young girl, but she got a steady income. Enough to at least put food on the table, Kiran found herself content with the arrangement. She even had more free time than she had had before, allowing her to become a Pokemon breeder to make more money on the side. Sure, she was still thieving, but at least it held some sort of 'purpose', even if she honestly couldn't give two cents of caring for the cause.
In the years since her 'contract' with Team Rocket, Kiran had made a small living for herself. Renting a small apartment, she has lived a simple life, but it was stable in the least. She was still a thief, but she had a cause. Though unjust, she did have resentment toward Epispect. If they had made an affordable cure, her sister might've still been alive, but it wasn't enough to place the blame fully on their shoulders. Still blaming herself, Kiran has never fully recovered from the loss of her sister.
