★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Gwen is someone you could easily point out as someone with something to prove. She spends a lot of her time training, both herself and her pokemon, doing her best to bring herself and her pokemon to top shape. Her efforts do at times become obsessive, especially when she is bothered by something and if no one stops her, she'll keep going through exercises until she faints.
Having been raised in a clan that emphasized training both trainer and pokemon in combat, she possesses great skill in martial arts, even without the Lucario DNA implanted in her. Having Lucario DNA implanted in her has only increased the strength and agility she possesses, as well as giving her the ability to sense the aura of people and objects around her.
While discipline was also emphasized amongst those of her clan, controlling her emotions is something that Gwen has had trouble with for most of her life, especially after the death of her first pokemon. Her attempts only really amount to bottling her emotions up, which as many would expect, results in a tendency to have major outbursts from time to time.
In addition to this, she is not very good at lying. She just cannot force herself to look someone in the eye, act natural and tell them something that she does not believe to be true. When she does try, it's hard to really tell if she's deliberately being so obvious about it or not.
Gwen is also a very hard worker, and when she has a task to complete, she does do her best and resists giving up before she truly is too exhausted to continue. She also enjoys helping others with their own tasks, and hates disappointing those she cares about. Barring anything that she recognizes as something that is either too far beyond her abilities or morality, she usually is open to helping out.
She's also a pretty uptight person, and has a hard time letting loose and having fun. She doesn't really have a sense of humor either, and the very best you could expect out of her is a half smile coupled with her rolling her eyes at you. This trait is most prevalent when there are other people around. When she's alone though, she might sing or dance to whatever is on the radio if she is in a really good mood.
One thing she is really uptight about, is alcohol. She can't even stand to be around drunkards. Their obnoxious and uninhibited behavior goes against everything she sees as right and proper behavior, and she wants no part of it. She won't even risk drinking herself. She tried once, and the result was her shouting constant strings of abuse at everyone around her at the slightest provocation.
Gwen is a very caring person, and she does her best to be kind to others. When people are upset or troubled, she tries to be sympathetic and say what she can to make them feel better. She especially cares a lot about her pokemon, and puts every effort she can to raise them well and keep them strong and healthy. When it comes to her pokemon and friends she is also very protective of them and will do everything she can to defend them.
Training pokemon for battle wasn't the only thing her clan focused on. Between missions, they'd put on performances with their pokemon, which were not at all unlike what you'd see in pokemon contests. This area of their regime was what Gwen had the most interest in, and she herself has come up with a lot of good ideas for new stunts and performances.
She is also very insecure, and doesn't really believe anyone holds a high opinion of her. She has low self-confidence and is constantly second guessing herself. Because of this, she tends to over-think a lot, and has extreme difficulty making tough decisions and trying to figure out what is the right thing to do.
Even though some of it comes from her lack of self-confidence, she was always taught modesty when she was growing up. Thanks to that she's learned not to flaunt her successes and act humbly. She also tries hard to be respectful to others and doesn't go out of her way to offend people, even if she disagrees with them.
Gwen owns a locket, which contains a photo of herself with her father, and a Riolu who had been her first pokemon but died when they were both young. She keeps this locket on her at all times. It is extremely valuable to her, and she only takes it off to shower. When she does take it off, she keeps it locked up in a safe. It is something she would be devastated to lose.

H I S T O R Y
- Gwendolyn was born into a clan of freelance pokemon trainers who called themselves the Kings of Valor. This clan worked to train both themselves and their pokemon and would hire themselves out for various missions, whether it was driving off some pesky wild pokemon, a search and rescue, or even fighting for someone. So long as they were paid handsomely and their code of honor remained unviolated, they rarely said no to a job. When such jobs became hard to come by, they would also put on performances with their pokemon, which were not at all unlike what you'd see in pokemon contests.
- Gwen's father Draceil, was born into the clan himself, having a strict upbringing as was typical within the clan. Her mother Amberlyn, on the other hand was a civilian. Though their relationship seemed promising, down the road it became rocky as her mother failed to adjust to life in the clan. They constantly argued over how to raise Gwen, and thanks to her mother she has learned more compassion and independence than most others raised in their clan.
- When Gwen was seven years old, her mother developed inoperable brain cancer and passed away within the year. The loss was devastating for Gwen and her grief would linger caused her to struggle a lot for several months before she finally reached acceptance. With her mother no longer around though, her father no longer had anyone to contest how he raised Gwen and her upbringing became much stricter for it.
- Gwen never expected the same kind of love and compassion from her father as she had gotten from her mother. He was more of a mentor to her, and she still looked to him to teach her what to do. Since he was her only parent left with her, she put an effort into learning everything he had to teach her, and did her best to impress him.
- When she turned ten years old, she reached a very important milestone in her life, that being the bestowment of her very first pokemon. Training pokemon was very important to the clan. At first you were only allowed to raise a single pokemon, until you proved you were a good enough trainer to deserve a second, and then a third, all the way up to six, and no one in the clan was allowed to train more than that.
The first pokemon was the most important, however. If you failed to raise it properly and it for whatever reason died under your care, you were given two choices. Either you would be forbidden to train pokemon for the rest of your life, or you'd be banished from the clan, no exceptions.
Gwendolyn's first pokemon was a young male Riolu whom she named Icarus. She loved him dearly and put a lot of effort into raising him and making him strong. Icarus was a kind and patient pokemon and did his best to keep Gwendolyn out of trouble, as difficult as that was.- About eight months after she received Icarus, the clan had been hired for a difficult mission to drive off some mankeys that were nesting near the base of the mountain range, whom had been regularly raiding a nearby farm. Though children were not permitted to partake in missions of any sort until they were at least thirteen years old, Gwen was already eager to prove herself. Of course though, her pleading only resulted in a firm no, and annoying her father greatly.
So the team assigned to take on the job, which included her father, had gone off without her. Gwendolyn however, still wasn't deterred, and was intent on doing it herself if her father wouldn't let her go with the team, convinced that doing what he thought she was incapable of would surely impress him. Icarus tried desperately to stop her from going, but she still sneaked off, and the Riolu was forced to go along, if only to protect her from the trouble she would inevitably get herself in.
And trouble she did find. What she found was not a troup of mankey. In fact, they had completely missed them and ended up going in the wrong direction. What they found instead, was a Rhyhorn. A very angry territorial Rhyhorn who attacked the moment it caught sight of them. Icarus had pushed Gwendolyn out of the way and she was forced to run and hide while the Riolu attempted to fight it off.
The Rhyhorn was too much for Icarus, and it ended up severely injuring him. By the time search parties had found them, the Riolu had already died of his wounds while Gwen was trapped hiding in a small crevice, unable to reach him. The search team was able to drive off the Rhyhorn and Gwendolyn was brought back to the clan alive, but mentally shattered.- With her first pokemon dead, and her father refusing to allow her to leave the clan, she was instead forbidden from training pokemon. She instead would be spending her life doing other tasks such as cleaning their equipment and cooking food. She was often looked down upon, but the poor treatment from her fellows was only secondary to the damage already done.
The mistake that had cost her Icarus and everything she had been raised for, left her broken. She lost her independence, self esteem and confidence. She could no longer make any but the most simple decisions with any certainty, and was always second guessing herself. She could only resign to doing strictly as she was told and little else for fear of making another costly mistake.- Many years past with little event, until the virus that was spreading across the region finally hit the clan. When it hit, it hit fast and hard, cutting their numbers by twenty-five percent within the first few months. As time went by only more and more of their people died. By the time they learned that there was a cure, there were only a handful of them left and they all had contracted the virus.
- When they reached Epispect, Gwendolyn, along with two other clan members were the only ones left. Unfortunately, they only had enough money left for two of them to receive the operation. Gwen didn't really argue for herself to receive the procedure, but the eldest of them who was already very close to death volunteered himself to not have the procedure done, figuring he wouldn't survive it anyway.
- They had a limited number of pokemon genes to choose from, but of them all, one particular pokemon caught her eye -- Lucario. She struggled to consider if it would be right to have the genes of that particular pokemon. It was the evolved form of Riolu, and what her late partner should have become. In the end, she did choose to be infused with Lucario DNA. If anything, she could try to live on for both her and Icarus.
- While Gwendolyn had survived the procedure, the other clan member did not, and the third who hadn't gotten the procedure died a week later, leaving Gwendolyn quite alone. The Kings of Valor were no more, and Gwen was forced to move on on her own. Strength only came from the necessity of it all, and while she managed to find an apartment to live in and a job as a restaurant waitress.

★ RP SAMPLE:
Night had fallen on Hyo City. The sky was dark and cloudy, and street lamps and interior lights of the buildings were the only significant source of light. The alley ways of hyo were swallowed by darkness, and anything could have been hiding within.
Xenia had wasted little time after leaving the plasma lab. Already she had spent some of her money purchasing a yamask, as well as a Riolu egg for herself. Of course, she planned on catching pokemon the old fashioned way, but these two she really couldn't have resisted if she had tried.
Still, she hadn't quite made it to Hyo before the sun went down, but that was all the better. Much of her favorite pokemon only ever appeared at night after all. So she walked down the sidewalk with her arms wrapped around her pokemon egg. After a few moments paused outside a restaurant. She had yet to actually meet her new pokemon, and she supposed she should get introductions over with before she actually started battling.
Holding her egg in one arm, she used the other to grab her pokemon. She first released her Litwick, and upon appearing the little candle shaped pokemon spun around in a circle once before he turned his delighted gaze on his new trainer. "Bonjour Madame!" He said joyfully.
"You speak french!" said Xenia, a bit surprised. She hadn't really considered a pokemon's ability speak anything other than plain English before. Unfortunately, her understanding of the french language was limited to what she recalled from watching the movie Beauty & the Beast when she was young, and that wasn't much. "Do you only know French?"
The Litwick shook his head. "Non! I speak English as well!" He responded, chuckling a bit. At the moment it looked like he had gotten lucky. He knew a lot of plasma members were quite nasty but so far it appeared he had gotten lucky.
"Good, good." She said, looking at him thoughtfully. Of course she should give him a name. Now that she had been thinking about the Beauty & the Beast movie, she thought she had the perfect name. "What do you think about me calling you Lumière?"
Suddenly the litwick's flame grew a bit, leaving Xenia wondering if she had offended the little candle. "C'est magnifique!" He exclaimed joyfully. Xenia unfortunately, could only tilt her head in confusion. "It is a wonderful name!" He said quickly.
Xenia's confusion turned to a smile. "Well then, welcome to my team, Lumière, my name is Xenia. Now one more..." She said, pulling out the poke ball containing a second pokemon. She released it, and out popped a strangely colored Yamask.
The Yamask at first looked confused, maybe even a bit upset, but the second she noticed Xenia and Lumière, she immediately straightened up, and fixed them with a stern glare. "You stand before royalty! I demand you kneel before me this instant!" The Yamask huffed expectantly.
For a moment only silence followed the Yamask's command, until Lumière broke out laughing, while Xenia herself put her free hand over her mouth to stifle her own amusement. "Sorry, I don't think that is going to happen." Kneel before her? Really? Lord, Professor Antoinette wasn't nearly this demanding. "And Lumière, I think that's more than enough." She added gently to her Litwick.
Lumière's laughter died down, but the Yamask only became more infuriated by their failure to genuflect. "Unacceptable! How dare you talk back to me! Obey your queen now or I'll throw you in the dungeons!" The Yamask shouted back furiously, waving her arms around madly.
"Well, you aren't our Queen, you are actually my pokemon, and I am your trainer, so you are the one who should be obeying me." said Xenia in a matter-of-fact tone. Maybe she used to be royalty in her past life. Yamask were supposed to be the dead spirits of humans after all. Still, this was the modern world and she bowed to no one, especially not to her own pokemon. "Besides, what dungeon would you throw us into?"
It seemed the Yamask could only become more and more angry, and taking the human's question as a dare, she leaped forward and immediately attempted to push and pull at Xenia, to no effect. Giving up on her, she went at Lumière instead, and the Litwick struggled to wiggle free from the Yamask's grasp, until he finally had enough and unleashed an ember attack on his assailant.
The ember attack though weak, still sent the Yamask flying to the ground. "I am sorry Mademoiselle, but you left me no choice!" Lumière huffed indignantly. Both he and Xenia were surprised how easily the Yamask was knocked away. It clearly wasn't that strong at all despite it's outrageous personality.
Xenia sighed, trying to collect her patience. She wasn't always easily annoyed, but people like this Yamask often rubbed her the wrong way, and she was no fan of people who acted like they deserved everything to be handed to them on a silver platter. "You know what, if you are going to be like that, then you are free to leave. I'm not going to force you to stick around if you don't want to, and I won't tolerate that attitude of yours either."
With that, Xenia began to walk away. Okay, it was a waste of good money to just buy the pokemon only to release it almost immediately, but all the money in the world wasn't worth holding on to a pokemon that was going to fight her for dominance every step of the way. She'd find a less obnoxious Yamask eventually.
The Yamask got up, but was still a bit dazed. At Xenia's words however, she immediately snapped to. Leave? She looked around, thoughts of all the beasts and monsters lurking in the alleyways. She couldn't make it on her own! "Halt!" She squeaked, panic stricken. "I mean, wait! Er... Please? I'll be good!" She said, now sounding more like a scared little girl than the snobby little queen she had been earlier.
Xenia blinked. What now? She was suddenly scared? She just sighed and pulled out the Yamask's pokeball. "Very well then. I think I'll call you Isis then. Return." She said, returning the yamask to her poke ball. Well, that was that. It was time to get moving. "Hey Lumière, could you sit on this egg?" Xenia requested.
The Litwick gasped in excitement, allowing Xenia to pick him up and place him on the egg. "C'est beau! Only a powerful love could have produced such a beautiful bébé!" He gasped, his form melting a little bit at the thought of love.
"Yeah." She said, turning to enter one of the darkened alleyways, with the flame on Lumière's head providing enough light that she wasn't blinded by the darkness. Now it was time to see what she would find lurking around Hyo late at night.
