Just standing there for a few seconds could make anyone sweat heavily, as if they had just ran a marathon. Lina tried not to breathe too deeply from her mouth, not wanting to dry her throat. She only brought enough water to last her a few hours at best, she didn’t want to run out too soon. She watched Ash and Amber wander around the parched earth, seemingly okay with the heat. They should be, they’re both Fire-types so this heat should feel great. Lina’s own Fire nature helped her take the heat, it felt better than those icy months of winter by a long shot. Crimson, her shiny Absol, didn’t look so comfortable in the sun; his long red fur making the heat bring out large drops of sweat from his body to be dropped to the thirsty earth under them. She offered to allow him to ride this one out in his Pokeball, but Crimson could be stubborn when he wanted to.
“Okay!” she said, gathering the attention of her team. “Stick close by; I don’t want any of you to be attacked while on your own.” Lina’s team nodded, fine with sticking together in this environment. For you see, Lina was out to make some lucky mon a new part of her team, and the training this would give them was a bonus to boot. She’d been meaning to give her team the training it deserved, but work and the weather had put a stop to her plans until recently. Lina hoped that she’ll be able to catch more Fire types to add to the group she has now, but training would be just as nice. Leading the way Lina walked around the desert lands, keeping her eyes and ears and senses on the alert for any Pokemon. Crimson and Ash stayed the closest for entirely different reasons while Amber sniffled the ground for anything interesting, barely keeping up. WILD ROGGENROLA APPEARED! [/style] Roggenrola || Male || Sand Force || Rock || Level 8 Tackle || Harden || Sand-AttackThe Roggenrola was sleeping in the shade cast by a large rock, the little Rock-type with his back leaning against it and his single eye shut as he slumbered. He liked the heat here, how it felt just like a sandy desert that was his natural homeland, though part of him longed for the cool and darkness of a cave, the other home of a Roggenrola. That was why he was actually compromising by sleeping in the shade; it was still hot, mind you, but it was darker and far cooler than if he had remained out in the full glare of the sunlight. He was tired, wanting to catch up on some sleep since usually it was easier for him to travel in the cooler temperatures of the night rather than the under the scorching eye of the unrelenting sun. Still though, right now he couldn't sleep, so he blinked his eye open, staring out at the swirling waves of heat that surrounded his little oasis of shade. He was mentally exhausted, sure, but his body was too wired up with energy, wanting to crash and roll and run even though his mind just wanted to curl up here and go back to sleep. With a little sigh, he got to his feet and started padding out into the sunlight, deciding that he should probably go try to tire himself out a little before he did anything. He took a few steps before he suddenly recognized what was a little ways in front of him: a team of Pokemon and a human. A battle would wear him out nicely! Scampering up to the top of the hill, he took a deep breath in for courage - and to try to wake himself up a little - as he began to plan out his first round of attacks, unwittingly exposing himself in kind to the girl and her Pokemon that were going to be his next targets.

Ash liked the heat, it gave him more energy than he was normally used to, and it made him feel so much stronger too. Life was good for the little Cyndaquil since he had met Lina, she was kind and didn’t force him to do things he wasn’t ready for. So, when he saw the Roggenrola getting ready to attack them, for whatever reason it had, Ash felt ready to except this challenge instead of staying in the sidelines like he would in the slums and streets of the city. He ran the small distance to tap Lina’s leg, who had stopped to rub her eyes from staring out into the heated land for so long, to point out the Roggenrola.
Lina felt the light tap, causing her to look down to Ash, the cute little full Fire type Pokemon she had looking excited and pointing towards the hill that was to the right. Looking up answered her unspoken question about why he was excited, she saw the Roggenrola preparing for battle. Giving a smile, she knelt down to Ash’s level, Crimson and Amber having already seen the Rock type up on the hill and were waiting for her command – Amber though looked ready to just run to the little Pokemon and fight it without consent. “You want to take him on, Ash?” she asked, surprised by herself for thinking he would. But Ash surprised her more with a positive nodding of his head before darting up the little hill to fight this surprise opponent. All this sun and heat made him feel stronger than ever, giving him a confidence he hoped would be with him when he was fully evolved. Keeping a good distance from the battle-ready wild Pokemon, Ash sent out a call telling the Roggenrola he was ready for a fight.

WILD ROGGENROLA APPEARED! [/style] Roggenrola || Male || Sand Force || Rock || Level 8 Tackle || Harden || Sand-AttackThe Roggenrola nodded to himself as soon as he managed to decide upon a plan of attack. He was going to try to get a little closer to them and then he was going to try to get a good Tackle in to try to cause some damage. He nodded to himself before jumping, realizing that he'd been spotted by the girl and her Pokemon. "Rog roggenrola!" he cried, popping up onto his feet and running around in a small circle in his panic. What was he gonna do, what was he gonna do, what was he gonna do?!? He then tripped up over a small rock that protruded up from the soil, sprawling himself out onto the ground with his face managing to take the brunt of the blow. He flailed on the ground, flopping about there like a Magikarp fished out of its lake by some human, before he huffed and managed to roll around so that he could sit up, and from there was a simple hop to get back up onto his feet again. His only hope was that the human and her Pokemon hadn't seen his flop there, it was rather embarrassing. He rather wanted to keep some shred of his pride, thank you very much. When he heard the call from the Cyndaquil, he nodded to himself, taking a deep breath to steel himself before he darted forward, running at his opponent in a Tackle attack to start the battle off with a bang.

The Rock-type looked ready to attack before, but maybe he didn’t think that he would be noticed so quickly and would have more time to plan his first attack. When Roggenrola tripped over the small rock pointing out of the sands, Ash wasn’t sure if he should help his fellow ‘mon or watch. Back with his trainer and team, Lina and Amber tried to hold back their giggles – really they did – but this was gold and they haven’t had much time for entertainment. It took a smack from Crimson before the recovered. Back with Ash, he didn’t have long to ponder on helping the Rock-type, since he was up quickly before the first attack was thrown. The Roggenrola was on him with a Tackle, Ash barely had time for a dodge, a hair away from taking the blunt of the attack. Ash knew this battle would be tough, given that the Roggenrola as a Rock-type would have a higher defense against his attacks, so he quickly played a smart move and used a Leer to take that advantage away. Ash wanted to win this for Lina, he would do his best against this Pokemon. Let the game begin, need something to believe in [/div]

WILD ROGGENROLA APPEARED! [/style] Roggenrola || Male || Sand Force || Rock || Level 8 Tackle || Harden || Sand-AttackThe Roggenrola was standing again, pride puffing out his little chest as he tried to pretend that he hadn't just faceplanted into the ground only moments before, instead running as fast as he could towards the Cyndaquil. He tried to change direction when he first got the indication that his attack was going to be just shy of the other Pokemon, but he was too late to do anything, barreling past so close that he almost brushed right against the fur of the Fire-type. He managed to slow himself down eventually, panting as he ran around in a tight circle so that he could turn himself around to face the other Pokemon again. Unfortunately, the instant he laid eyes on the other Pokemon, it was just in time for him to intercept a harsh look from the little Pokemon, and the very heat of it made him want to shudder and hide away. It was a scary look, of that he was certain, but he shook it away as best he could. He was going to give it all he had, no matter what type of looks were thrown his way. Puffing himself up a little for his own pride, he started forward again, his mind already working as he debated which attack he wanted to throw exactly. He'd figure it out when he got a little closer, right now he just wanted to get close enough for that to be a possibility.

He didn’t have time to celebrate fully though, for the Roggenrola recovered quickly from the harsh look most won’t expect from the shy little Cyndaquil and ran full speed ahead towards Ash again. The Rock-type didn’t seem to be using an attack, just running at him, so Ash believed he was getting close so the likelihood of missing would be reduced. Ash wasn’t fast by any means yet, so if the Roggenrola were to take this advantage for himself then this battle could get ugly for Ash. So, to keep the distance between them, Ash ran like he was being chased by some angry Pokemon who just woke up from a nice nap.
Meanwhile, on the side lines, Lina watched as the two Pokemon ran around. “Hm… wonder why Ash is doing that… he seemed so brave just a moment ago, do you think it’s worn off?” she asked her two remaining mon. Amber shrugged, too busy watching Ash being chased by the Roggenrola. Crimson was more in tune with the battle, having already figured out Ash’s strategy of keeping his distance from the Rock-type. After moment of running went by Lina caught onto Ash’s strategy also and gave a big smile of pride.
Ash was starting to tire from all this running, sooner or later one of them would have to stop. Ash really didn’t want to be that one, since stopping meant he would be in the Roggenrola’s line of fire, but he needed to rest a bit. An idea came to him, maybe using an attack would help stall the battle long enough for him to take a breather and he knew of just the attack. Skittering to a stop, Ash inhaled deeply before releasing a Smokescreen, hoping this would do the trick and give him time to catch his breath. Let the game begin, need something to believe in [/div]

WILD ROGGENROLA APPEARED! [/style] Roggenrola || Male || Sand Force || Rock || Level 8 Tackle || Harden || Sand-AttackThe Roggenrola let out an angry cry as the Cyndaquil turned tail and started running. How cowardly was it to flee from a fight when your opponent hadn't even thrown a blow yet? "Rog rog roggenrola!" the little Rock-type cried, puffing up as he chased after the little Fire-type. He ran as fast as he could on his little stubby legs, tripping over a few stray rocks and tumbling head over heels for a little while before he managed to right himself again and keep running. He was a proud Roggenrola, smart and able to keep up with his own shortcomings, so it was no surprise that he was able to quickly right himself after such a fall and keep running again. He was getting a little tired, worn down by the heat even if he was rather suited for it and the rugged landscape that he lived in, but he persevered, wanting to show this interloper exactly how strong he was. Or at least, he tried to until the other Pokemon skidded to a stop. Seizing his chance, he tried to speed up, readying himself to throw an attack, but before he launched himself forward, he let out a squeal as he was suddenly caught up in a whirlwind of black smoke, looking every which way in confusion and coughing as he tried to not just ball up on the ground to try to stop his eye from watering.
