Tobias hid a yawn behind his hand as he walked, the early morning sun peeking over the horizon to light his path for him. Usually the human liked his sleep, content to ball himself up in his blankets to shut out the cold and growling at anyone who tried to yank them off to make him greet the day, but today he had decided to get up before the Pidgeys outside his window drove him out of his bed, tossing off his covers and yawning. Sure, he was still tired, and a good part of his mind was longing for his warm bed and another couple hours of sleep, but he was out here for a reason today. He had come out here to try to see what had become of his old friends, to try to hunt some of them down and see if they could point him in the direction of a doctor he might be able to learn from. He wanted to try to give people the transfusions to save their lives, to do the one thing that had been denied to his sister, and while he didn't have high hopes that he'd be able to find someone this time around, that didn't mean he couldn't at least scope his territory out. Although, he ruefully admitted to himself, perhaps it hadn't been the best idea to come to some of the worst slums of the city dressed in some of his nicer clothes, his white coat wrapped tight around his shoulders and keeping the chill away from him. His leather gloves may not have been as warm as he might have liked, but they were worn and he knew that he could easily drop one down to wield the sword that hung from his belt, his one line of defense against someone who might try to take advantage of him as a human. He couldn't contain a little smirk at the thought; he always took a certain pleasure in proving to others that he wasn't weak just because he was human. "Snub snubbull!" The voice of his Pokemon broke through his thoughts, the male turning to look at his Snubbull with a hand already resting on his sword hilt.
"Is something wrong, Mulan?" he asked tensely, straining his senses for what it was she might have picked up on that led her to speaking, but she shook her head, scampering to his side with her little chest heaving, her paws barely clutching her burden, a red and black egg. Instantly understanding that she had been struggling with the egg and he'd been walking quickly enough to make her fear he was leaving her alone in a place that frightened her, he took his hand from his sword hilt, kneeling down to take the Pokemon egg from her. "Silly girl, if you were falling behind, you should've said something sooner," he murmured quietly, his free hand patting her head. "I would've made Ariel carry it instead." As if summoned by the sound of his name, Tobias' arrogant Buizel popped out of his Pokeball, letting out a whine and rubbing his muzzle against Tobias' arm. Rolling his eyes, he patted Ariel's head as well before standing, the egg tucked into his arms and held close to his chest. "I suppose I can handle the egg if you two keep watch, all right?" he asked good-naturedly, the two Pokemon nodding determinedly and turning their attention outwards as they continued walking again, Mulan sticking closer to her Trainer than Ariel would, though the Buizel's tails would spin every now and again as he paused to sniff some interesting scent or another. Still, both Pokemon were loyal to their Trainer, and Tobias had no doubt in his mind that they would strike out at anyone who tried to harm him.

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot Lina gave a tired sigh as she trudged through the slums of the Jungle she was forced to call home. Her day at work was dull and dreary, like most days, as the regulars ordered the same thing they always do. Her dreams of getting a nice home were put on hold as her pay check couldn't support a mortgage in anywhere but the lowest of slums. She couldn't trust anyone there, either, so friends were out of the question until the Houndoom could secure a better life. Hopefully, she can find better work in the Town Square come the holidays, when businesses picked up and families go out to enjoy a special meal together. The thought of family made her ache to see Lydi again. He was the only family she could trust, since their parents were complete douche bags.
"Snub snubbull!" The voice of a Pokemon hit her ear as she rounded a corner. The Gijinka blinked when she saw a young man around her age dressed in fine white clothes. ‘What the hell is someone like him doing here?’ Lina questioned in her mind, suspicion in her eyes. She could tell he was a normal human, he looked too plain to be anything but one. The reason he stopped seemed to be that his Snubbull was tired from carrying an egg, and she watched as he picked it up while another Pokemon – this time a Buizel – appeared from it’s Pokeball. The three seemed to come to an agreement of the human carrying the egg and his Pokemon keeping guard. The way he gazed lovingly at them, and held that egg with care, told the Houndoom he could have a chance at being trusted. Still, you never know…
Lina held back a grunt when she noticed that the human male was heading towards the black market, whether he meant to go there or not didn’t matter. Those people there would eat him alive and steal his Pokemon at the drop of a hat and Lina’s morals just couldn’t let that happen. Acting on instinct, she made quick work at catching up to him, calling out when she knew she was close enough to be heard, “Hey! Don’t go that way, you looking to get yourself killed!”

Words;; 436 Tags;; Lina Bellecourt Eggs;; - - 2/10 Layout by Kuroya Notes;; Yes, yes I did have to use Elli. :'D You know you love me~
And looks like I found out some more about Ariel... joy. :l Stupid Buizel, why do you have to not tell me everything the first time around?
Ariel had always been a smart Buizel, his tails spinning behind him as he sniffed at the trees in front of him. He had survived on the streets before he had met Tobias, the human having given him some scraps of food every now and again when he would be at his leanest, so it had been an easy transition for him to decide to throw his loyalties in with the human, but before that, he had lived off his instincts, fighting and getting into scraps and learning how to survive with little more than your wits and your own power to get you by. As such, he was the one, not Mulan, to first catch wind of the foreign scent, and he immediately let out a low growl, darting back to Tobias' side. At the sound of his Pokemon acting up, the male nodded, setting his egg down at his feet and drawing his sword from its sheath, taking a few steps to the side to distance himself from the fragile egg, not wanting to break it if things got rough. "Who's there?" he called out, his sky blue eyes hardening in a challenge. "If you mean to fight me, show yourself, cowards!"
"Buizel bui bui!" Ariel cried, his tails spinning behind him with the intensity of his emotions, reacting to his Trainer's readiness and standing ready for a fight at the human's side. Mulan, a shy Pokemon to the end, scrambled back closer to Tobias, though unlike Ariel who wouldn't hesitate to involve himself in his Trainer's fights, she'd rather make her stand next to the egg and make sure that no one hurt it. They knew they had come here on the worst of terms and they knew that they would likely be targeted. None of them were going down without a fight though. They had come too far to just give up now, and besides, there were lives riding on them. Tobias firmed himself, his hand tightening its grasp on the hilt of his sword before he blinked, seeing the person running towards him. A girl... he certainly hadn't expected that. Stepping out of his ready stance and lowering his sword - though he didn't sheath it, caution dictating that even though he should protect a female that she could still be a threat to him - he watched her movements carefully. "I'm tougher than what you think I am, you know," he stated quietly. "I'll be fine. Besides, if I'm going to get myself killed, then what's a girl like you doing out in these parts in the first place, hmm?"

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot Lina came to a stop in front of the human, not in the least threatened by the Buizel or the Snubbull next to him or his fancy sword. “I live here,” came her deadpan reply, though she was much begrudged to admit it even to herself at times. “If this is the thanks I get for being the Good Samaritan to you and keeping you from walking into that death trap just some feet away, maybe I should be on my way.”
Now that she got a good look at him, he was quite a looker. Short pale hair, with a bit of a cow lick sweeping some of his hair up on the right side of his face; pale blue eyes that seemed to stare into your soul. If she hadn’t decided to put her neck out for this guy, those thugs in the black market would have robbed him blind and then some. He has to at least have a girlfriend or boyfriend that would miss him if he was attacked. Lina wouldn’t live with herself if something happened and she didn’t act.

Words;; 462 Tags;; Lina Bellecourt Eggs;; - - 3/10 Layout by Kuroya Notes;; If only Ariel was a level stronger... then he would have been able to shoot a Water Gun at Lina. *shot*
And I had totally forgotten Tobi was part of a gang who were in the black market... ah well, I'll just go with the explanation that he hasn't seen them in a while since he had to keep his nose clean and train Mulan and Ariel up a bit before he could come back. >.>
Tobias blinked in surprise at her reply, not expecting her to have reacted so casually to his sword, but nodding quietly as he decided her explanation was sufficient, he sheathed the blade at his waist. "Sorry about that," he offered, his voice unruffled and not sounding nearly as apologetic as he actually was. His parents had raised him right, and he had always been taught to be respectful of girls, but since he'd joined up with a gang, he'd learned one thing: trust no one. Appearances could be deceiving, and it could very well be that this girl was not only a Gijinka but also planned to rob him herself at the earliest opportunity. Sure, he had kept his nose clean for the most part, something that had involved laying off a lot of his friends in the black market, but now that he had some more Pokemon, he was pretty sure he could stand a better chance in the black market. Sure, his Pokemon could be a little tougher, and it probably wasn't the best idea to bring his egg out with him today, but with the egg being so close to hatching, he hardly had any other choice. He couldn't leave Ariel to take care of the egg, the Buizel would probably just bully the newborn Pokemon if it hatched, and while Mulan would take good care of the baby, he needed her at his side since she was actually stronger than Ariel was and thus a better companion for venturing to the black market, and he absolutely refused to leave the egg at home to let it hatch all alone. "Besides, I have business to attend to in that 'death trap'. I've been there before without anything bad happening..." he trailed off at a memory, modifying his sentence. "Well, other than Mulan biting some guy's hand anyway."
The little Snubbull looked up at her name, flushing quietly with pride at the mention of the time she protected her Trainer. "Snub..." she murmured before blinking when she saw Tobias turn and stride towards her. Oh, that's right, she was standing in front of his egg. Turning around, she picked it up and then waddled towards him, letting the human take the egg from her and give her a gentle pat to the head in thanks as he tucked the object securely under his arm, straightening back up again. Unfortunately, during his lapse in attention, Ariel had decided that he didn't like the smell of this girl, not at all, she smelled too much like a threat for his tastes, and so while Tobias had his back turned, the Buizel's tail spun out behind him and he shot a small Ice Beam at the girl in a fit of childish pettiness.

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot Well, damn… Lina was a bit ticked that she not only stopped this guy for nothing, he was a part of the thugs that ran the joint she stopped him from entering. Why the hell would someone like him, who treated his Pokemon with care and respect and was giving her some courtesy as a woman, be involved in the gangs here!
“Why did you join up with a gang here?” She was curious, this guy had to have had a reason for it. When the male turned to retrieve his egg from his Snubbull, showing that he isn’t afraid of her attacking him then, she felt a wave of cold – not like the cold of the fall, much more like being hit with a snow ball – coming from the area the guy’s Buizel stood. Hissing, she backed away in time to keep herself from being frozen solid and resisted the urge to Thunder Fang the little bastard rat for that. It had no reason to attack, damn it! For now, she settled for using an Ember attack on her frozen parts to thaw out, ignoring the human and his team for a second to warm herself up.

Words;; 505 Tags;; Lina Bellecourt Eggs;; - - 4/10 Layout by Kuroya Notes;; So much wordpadding... but it looks like it's storytime, not fight time~ *shot*
Tobias turned slightly, just in time to see Ariel gathering up another round of ice to shoot at the girl, and immediately he stood up straight, moving to discipline his high-maintenance Buizel. "No, Ariel, don't you dare!" he scolded, frowning and giving the canine a quick, superficial smack to the top of his head that had the little pup whining and clutching at the spot, though the human merely rolled his eyes at the sight. "Please, that didn't hurt. You're just trying to get out of more trouble." The Buizel stuck his tongue out at his Trainer's words, crossing his arms and sulking, but he didn't push it, knowing that the human was telling the truth. Tobias then turned and offered her an apologetic smile, gesturing to his Buizel with his free hand, the other occupied with keeping his egg steady in his arms. "Sorry about that... Ariel here tends not to like strangers... he's very picky about-" He cut himself off in the middle of his sentence, his eyes zeroing in on the small flames coming out of her hands to melt the ice Ariel's attack had put there. "-people," he breathed, suddenly understanding why Ariel had reacted like he had. The Buizel must have suspected something wasn't right about the girl and attacked to try to make sure she understood the human and his egg were off-limits. After a moment of consideration, he shifted his weight from one foot to the other and nodded determinedly. "Tell you what, I'll give you the story about how I became a member of a gang if you tell me how you became a Gijinka. Sound fair?" In his mind, those terms were more than fair, they were downright generous. He would have to go into how his little sister had died, a painful subject for him, before he could even hope to begin on the actual story while she merely had to give part of a story about the ins and outs of how she went from human to being infused with Pokemon DNA. For a brief moment, he wondered what Pokemon she might be. Obviously a Fire-type judging by her move… but which one? There weren’t a whole lot of lower-level Fire-type Pokemon that had a whole lot of black coloring, even shiny… but with that in mind, she might not even be a Fire-type. Absols had some black coloring to them, and they were fairly versatile, so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch for her to be something else with a Fire move or one of those TM Serums to give her a Fire-type move. Ugh, all the mechanics of it was the type to make his head hurt, but in a good way. It meant he was using the knowledge he’d gained to try to learn how to do those types of transfusions, and that was something he’d have to keep up with if he ever hoped to be able to one day be able to do that for a living.

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot “It’s fine,” Lina replied after finishing her attack. “Pokemon tend to not like me at first glance. I blame it on my type.” Her Dark nature really irked her. With how things have been going in her life, she might as well have been an Absol - a Pokemon who foretold disaster and is blamed for it when trying to warn others. When she looked up to response to his request on trading information, the raven passed when the blonde’s face showed a hint of pain and sadness before the expression melted away.
“That sounds fair to me,” more than fair, since from that look he’s willing to give her the truth. Lina honestly didn’t like telling others about her past, since on the outside-looking-in it was a pleasant one to have. Exchanging pasts is definitely fair, even though a part of her wants to give a fake story instead. “Believe it or not, I never wanted to be a Gijinka.” Lina started off, cutting to the chase before she could stop herself from making something up. “My older twin brother and I were taken here to get an Illegal transfusion by our parents’ wishes. We never needed it; our folks wanted us to be powerful Trainers for some reason. We came from a middle class family, so they had to take us here for the transfusions. I honestly like how things turned out, even though I wish it was on my own terms and not on the whims of my greedy parents.
“So, now that you know my tale, how about your reason?” she pushed, wanting to know. She gave a short version, wanting to get to his story sooner. She needed to get home soon and rest, maybe bathe if she could find extra water. The sooner she got her answer, the sooner they can part ways forever and maybe never see each other again. She just hopes that he’s worth putting her neck out for in this place. There are more than just one gang around these parts and they are willing to kill to get what they want.

Nodding at the girl's approval, Tobias hefted his egg up a little higher in his arms to make sure it was secure enough for him to drop his free hand down to rest on the top of Ariel's head so that the temperamental Buizel wouldn't try to attack again, the human not really wanting to start a fight with someone who didn't mean him harm, especially a girl who seemed pretty nice, all things considered. In a way, she reminded him of his sister, and though the thought sent a pang of pain through his heart, he pushed it aside with only a minor twinge of guilt, preferring instead to focus on her story, just like his mentor had taught him to. He had to look past the guilt and move on, not drown himself in the spiral of hate. It was a slippery slope, aye, but one he had resigned himself to climbing. Instead, he listened to her story with avid interest, briefly wondering who her brother might be and if he knew him before he pushed the thought aside, nodding to himself at her final words. "Yeah, well, not a whole lot of life is on your own terms, so the best thing to do is suck it up and move on," he stated somewhat bitterly, scowling as he remembered his baby sister curled up in bed, her small body lurching with coughing that would bring her lifeblood up to stain her lips before a nudge from below his hand had him starting, his sky blue eyes flickering down to meet the demanding gaze of his Buizel, Ariel nudging his hand again with a whine, wanting his Trainer to move that hand against him.
Absently starting to move his fingers, Tobias took a moment to gather his thoughts before he sighed heavily. "Well, you see, a few years ago, my little sister got sick with the virus. My family was... well... on the lower side of middle class, so we didn't have enough money to afford a transfusion from Epispect, and our morals wouldn't let us take one from the Black Market. I tried to get enough money to save her, but I couldn't, and by the time we'd come around to the idea of trying to get a Black Market transfusion, it was too late. She was too sick to get one, and rather than risk it and then have to watch her body get cut up for the DNA if we were wrong, our parents decided to just let her die. I... I sort of lost myself... I didn't know what to do with myself, and the next thing I knew, I was picking fights and part of a gang. I eventually managed to pull myself out with some help from one of the gang members... but I want to try to make a difference for the people who were in my situation, if I can. I mean... money shouldn't matter when it's someone's life at stake, you know?" Feeling rather sheepish at this point, though he'd never admit it, he shifted his weight from foot to foot, deciding it'd be best for him to just leave things at that.

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot Lina gave the Buizel a dirty look before she turned her attention back to the blonde. She gave him an understanding nod when he bitterly stated that things almost never go our way. Her life starting from her transfusion is a living testament to those words. She waited, reigning in her want to tap her foot, for the stranger to get a hold of his feelings. Whatever his reason is, it must be tied to what is making him feel this way.
Lina listened when he was able to speak, growing more in understanding and awed as he did. He fought for so long to save his sister; he had every right to be upset that he lost her like that. If Lydi were sick with the virus before they got their transfusion, she would have done anything to save him. She would have gone to the Black Market for him, screw morals when his life would have been on the line! She had to admit, this guy working himself to the ground to get his sister a Legal transfusion like he did was awesome. How he dealt with her death, she can understand. If she had lost Lydi like this guy lost his sister, she wouldn’t know what to do with herself. Lina has s short temper, so getting into fights is common for her.
“I am so sorry for your loss…” she couldn’t help but say. She really is, losing a loved one like that is horrible. She’s seen some of the people who weren’t so lucky to get either transfusions lying all over the streets here. “If I had lost Lydi like you lost… You’re right, money isn’t worth losing a life!”

Words;; 597 Tags;; Lina Bellecourt Eggs;; - - 6/10 Layout by Kuroya Notes;; Guess I work faster than I thought... I managed to get through all three posts tonight. :3
At the dirty look, Ariel stuck his tongue out immaturely, the movement going unnoticed by his Trainer, which was likely a good thing. Tobias wouldn't have thought anything of flicking the Water-type in the nose and scolding him for causing trouble, which the Buizel was actually quite good at with his prideful ways. Still, even though his instincts and his pride nudged at him persistently to just let off another little Ice Beam, just a little one, he restrained himself, obeying his Trainer and keeping still by Tobias' feet as the human told his story. Ariel might act rude and selfish at times, borderline arrogant at others, but he understood enough about his Trainer to know what subjects weighed heavily on his heart even with the healing balm that time saw fit to spread on the leaking wounds in the organ, and so he behaved himself, even going so far as to try to distract Tobias a little from the emotional distress by nuzzling his head up into the human's hand. He was having very limited success, of course, there was only so much a Pokemon could do after all, but even Mulan sensed his turmoil, the Snubbull having come into their Trainer's life shortly after he'd lost his little sister, and so she waddled over to pat his leg with a single pink paw in a quiet reassurance that the two of them were still there and that they weren't going anywhere.
Tobias relaxed a little at the touch, the human nodding quietly as he anchored himself firmly in the present. The past was already written, and there was no point trying to blot out the ink when it would only make a larger stain in the record. "So am I," he replied a little bitterly, biting the inside of his cheek as soon as the words left his mouth. He hadn't meant to word his feelings quite so sarcastically and harshly, but now that they were out there, he couldn't exactly take them back, now could he? Instead he just shrugged quietly and turned his gaze to the top of Ariel's head, his fingers moving to scratch the base of the fin on the Pokemon's head, causing the twin tails to start spinning happily at the attention. "Still, being sorry won't bring her back, so what's the point anyway?" None whatsoever, he finished mentally, pushing aside the familiar ache in his heart. He was going to learn how to give transfusions, and maybe then this ache in his heart would ease a little. He'd be filling it with good, and that'd be good. Maybe then he'd be able to turn his attention to other things, like helping his friends get a better control of their little corner of the market. He still remembered all the times they'd been forced to hide in a building that was crumbling to pieces around them, all to avoid a rival gang, and even now it made his blood boil at the thought and his fingers itch to wrap around the hilt of his blade, something he pushed aside through sheer force of will. "And yet it happens every day. It's the way of the world now, and in my experience, it serves you better to go along with the cards fate is throwing at you than to try to shoot from the hip." He shrugged again before he paused, a thought occurring to him. "I guess I haven't introduced myself properly... I'm Tobias Ramsey. Ariel is the proud handful who attacked you, and this little girl here is Mulan."

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot At seeing the little rat stick his tongue out at her like a spoiled child, Lina had to resist attacking him or just flipping him, seeing as his Trainer was talking and showing she wasn’t paying much attention to him was just rude. Her heart went out to him, to lose a loved one he did is a pain she hoped to never experience. And, sadly, many people here and all over have experienced the same pain as he did, all for the sake of money. Her folks had to make deals and down payments before they could get her and her brother’s transfusions, all because the gang they made the deals with were out to get as much as they can from anyone wanting a transfusion. She remembered seeing many people on the way to and from the place that looked like they were just one chance away from recovery or death. Lina shook herself out of those memories to see that the human continued, most likely trying to edge off the bitter comment from a few minutes ago and offered an introduction. Hm, Tobias. Nice name, and now she had a name to a face, for both human and Pokemon. She’ll make use of the rat’s name later, if she has opportunities for revenge.
“Nice to meet ya’! I’m Lina, Lina Bellecourt,” Lina replied, offering her hand out for Tobias to take if he wished. “You got a nice-” she started to say, but the sound of many bodies moving at once and seeing all around her thugs who looked like they just crawled out of the trash came into view as they surrounded the pair. Giving a curse under her breath, she moved to make a stand against them. “I so hope these aren’t you old gang buddies, Tobias!”

Words;; 456 Tags;; Lina Bellecourt Eggs;; - - 7/10 Layout by Kuroya Notes;; In my mind, Tobi has fought them before... the guy just remembered one of Tobi's allies using his name, so that's why he used it. *shot*
Lina... so her name was Lina... Tobias nodded to himself, tucking that knowledge away for future reference. He reached out and clasped her hand, shaking it and silently marveling to himself at how warm it was. He heard her start to speak, and then she was interrupted by a loud alarm cry from Ariel, the Buizel only moments before Mulan in noticing the threat to them. "Bui bui!" the canine called, his tails spinning quickly as his lips pulled back from his teeth, growling and settling in a fighting stance. "Bui buizel!" he growled, and Mulan immediately nodded, pressing up on her tiptoes and tugging on her Trainer's shirt so that the egg he was holding instead fell down into her arms, the little Normal-type clutching it protectively close for a moment before setting it down behind her, knowing that she was stronger than Ariel was and that they'd need her help being this outnumbered. After all, while Ariel was strong and agile, the type not to back down from a fight unlike the timid Snubbull, he was still a young Pokemon, and as such, there was only so much he could do before his body would just give out and he'd faint, leaving Tobias to have to hold his own against the group. No, while she would have loved to stand here and simply protect the egg from anyone who came near them, Mulan knew that she'd have to get involved in this fight if she wanted to help Tobias, and she did love her Trainer deeply, enough to try to firm her little quaking body and let out a low growl herself, trying to prepare herself for a fight.
Tobias chuckled darkly, drawing his blade into his hand once more, the edge glinting in a silent threat in the dappled light and matching the warning gleam in the human's eyes as he settled into a defensive crouch. "Heh. Even I know better than to associate myself with the likes of these bitches." He knew these people... maybe not by name, maybe not by face, but he was more than familiar with their type, and it wouldn't have surprised him to know that he'd beaten them back before. One of them laughed darkly and replied with a mocking "Like you're any better, Tobias." Yep. He definitely had fought them before. Maybe with his mentor since he by no means would have called the likes of these people 'friend'. "What do you want?" he asked brusquely, his sky blue eyes narrowed. "The sooner you crawl back to your holes, the less time I have to spend looking at your ugly faces, so let's make this as quick. I have places to go and people to see."

[/div]

Ready to give it one more shot “We saw that you have returned to the area,” the thug replied, shit-eating smirk plastered smugly on his face. The look made Lina sick to her stomach, along with the trash pack eying her like a piece of meat. No way in hell will she let them get anything out of her besides a few injuries. “We wanted to give you a warm welcome back!”
“Get lost, scum!” Lina fired off, temper and patience out the window. She rather not deal with them, especially if Tobias didn’t really know them and was out to kick their asses just as much as she did. The Pokemon with the human stood ready to defend their Trainer, making Lina feel a bit alone in her stand. What she would do to get one for herself, if her paycheck didn’t disappear the minute she got it for bills and living expenses. She growled when the leader, thick and muscular with a beefy neck and insect eyes, chuckled at her remark. Oh, he was so going down! Out of the corner of her eye she noticed some of the lesser of the gang’s members huddled around a bag of goods, most likely they were going to the Black Market to sell those to any paying customers. If she played her cards right, maybe she can swipe something from them, as payment for just ruining her rare social time.

Words;; 502 Tags;; Lina Bellecourt Eggs;; - - 8/10 Layout by Kuroya Notes;; Stealing Pokemon is okay, kids! *shot*
Tobias didn't like the grin on their faces as they looked at the Gijinka behind him, and he stiffened his stance, trying not to lash out since that would be rash. As soon as she let out a cry, though, he swirled his sword around in a circle, pressing the point to the leader's throat, his eyes narrowed. "Look, I don't want any trouble here. If you leave now, I won't hurt you, but if you stick around... well... I can't exactly speak for your safety." He grinned darkly, giving his best insane grin from when he used to let his hate out and work for a gang. Ariel at his side growled and lunged forward, his teeth flashing close to the human before him, held back only because his Trainer hadn't given him the okay to draw blood. He wasn't gonna back down if Tobias wasn't going to! He wasn't just going to leave his Trainer to fight this alone with only Mulan to defend him! His tails spun faster and faster behind him as his rage grew and grew, mounting higher with every action the human made. For a moment he wished that he was strong enough to be able to use a Water Gun attack, but then he brushed that thought aside, bristling still as he firmed himself with the fact that he knew other moves to defend Tobias.
Mulan blinked and cocked her head to the side when she saw the small group of filthy men gathered around something. "Snubb?" she murmured quietly, carefully setting her egg down on the ground as she took a step towards them before she whined, unable to justify leaving behind the little egg, not when Tobias had trusted her to keep it safe from the thugs surrounding them. She wrapped her paws around it again and picked it up once again, awkwardly waddling towards the huddle, wobbling every now and again when the egg's weight threatened to push her over. Good Arceus, was the baby trying to hatch? She sure hoped not, she didn't think she'd be able to stand up if the egg started wriggling any more. Muttering a soft complaint under her breath, she tightened her grip on the shell and waddled a little closer to them, eventually setting the egg down and quieting so that she could listen to what they were saying. "Can you believe the boss says this is an Absol egg? I mean, sure it looks like an Absol, but there's no way the boss would sell that," one of them gushed quietly. "Nah, I hear he plans on hatching it and then stealing its DNA for more transfusions," another gossiped. "Well I heard that he wants to train it so that it can take care of those damn psychics that keep bothering us!" another proclaimed. Mulan's brow furrowed in worry. Did they have a Pokemon egg with them... and if so... did that mean she and Tobias and Ariel could save it from its fate?
