It was with a weary, but happy exhale, that Nathan ceased in his trash gathering on the shore of Lake Antebellum and turned to meet the oncoming wind. It had been swiping at him for the past few hours, and he enjoyed the abuse. Howling through the trees in the distance, setting the water to ripple violently as it slid over the lake, now it stole Nathan's released breath and ripped at the clothing around his tall frame. Just what he needed. His eyes closed against the force, then one hand rose to sweep sweat from his brow and force his wildly blown hair down in the same movement. His other hand tightened around the nearly full black trash bag so nothing could escape.
Like all the others had, the wind eventually spent itself and released him, and the youth sighed softly before opening his eyes. A short turn put the majority of the huge lake back into view. It was a bittersweet sight. On one hand, it was one of the best places to visit to see green around the city of Aether. On the other, it was undoubtedly far more beautiful in the past. Now, the city continued to pump water from it while leaving trash behind, the grass and trees continued to die in many places, and there was a clear line in the shore where the earth changed colors, showing that he lake had once been so much higher.
Well... the best he could do for now was to keep the area clean. Nothing he could do would return water to a lake. Gijinka he might be- god, he was not. He'd done his best so far, picking up every bit of trash he'd found. Other people that might have visited that day probably wouldn't have noticed anything amiss, but his sharp eyes and thorough search revealed quite a few hidden dangers. It was disgusting how much people really left lying about, a lot of which could do a lot of damage to careless, or just curious, Pokemon.
He promised himself he'd take one more look in the morning before moving on, but for now, the blue-haired Eelektross Gijinka needed a break, and he'd done enough that he wouldn't feel guilty for claiming one. It was unfortunate that the majority of an Eelektross's snake like limberness hadn't transferred to him in the transfusion. Repetitive motion still took a toll after a while. Lazily retracing his path around that side of the lake, Nathan returned to a spot he'd noticed earlier in the day. Once there, he tied off his trash bag, then tossed it a short distance away and upwind before dropping onto a thick patch of fluffy grass. Spreading his feet out towards the water only twenty feet away, and leaning back on his arms, the teen turned a smile to the sky and breathed in as a new gust slammed into him
It was a nice day.

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Lapras || Female || Shell Armor || Water / Ice || 07 Sing || Growl || Water Gun || Mist || Confuse Ray This was one of the few places where water was still near crystalline. Lake Antebellum was still gorgeous, though perhaps not at it’s former glory, when the water used to be high up and one didn’t need to wave through trash to get where one was going. But then again, she was an old Lapras, so perhaps she was wrong. The large water-ice type waded just underneath the water’s surface, occasionally surfacing for air before diving deep down again.
The old Lapras didn’t come to the surface very often anymore and when she did, she didn’t stay long. She rarely sang anymore because it would attract attention, and that was the very last thing she needed. These days, she’d heard that humans were hunting and trapping Pokemon not to use as companions or as partners, but as experimental material. The Pidove and Pidgey brought information to her about all this, and she didn’t like it at all, so as of late, she’d been keeping out of sight.
But it was that one instance, where she slowly surfaced to breathe, did she notice a human some distance off seeming to fall into the grass. He also had a large bag that he seemed to toss aside and from her viewing point, he seemed distressed. Who else would just flop so dramatically into the grass like that, a mere twenty feet away from the water? She was farther out than that, but her kind nature got the better of her and slowly, she began to paddle over with great fins to see what was going on.
The human himself was still sort of far from the edge of the lake, but she craned her long neck to see anyway. He didn’t seem so distressed anymore and actually looked somewhat content, though she was curious as to why he’d just simply fallen like that. As gently as she possibly could, she sent a tiny squirt of water his way, hoping to get his attention without wandering too close.

Distressed wasn't how Nathan would have described himself at that moment. In a more general manner, sure, lately things had been running rather badly for him. But at that moment, lying in the grass, the wind on his face and his eyes on the clouds above, he was just fine. He even closed his eyes, seeing no reason that he couldn't indulge in a little daydreaming as he rested his achy back and ankles. Then a spray of liquid splashed across his chest and hit the bottom of his chin, jerking him out of his reverie with alarm. That was distressing, and he began to slap at the unknown fluid on his chest frantically until he realized it was just water. "Oh thank Arceus," Nothing had decided to relieve itself on him.
Understanding that it was just water, Nathan laughed at himself, 'distress' fading. A little water never hurt anyone but a Fire-type, and he was the last person it should bother. But where did it come from? His eyes traced the direction of the stream back to the lake, and the last of his surprise vanished beneath a flood of awe. "Lapras..." He needed no Pokedex to know this one's species.
It was a Lapras! They were so rare. Perhaps more so these days, in this environment. The fact that one was actually showing itself to him was... inspiring. The blue-haired Gijinka took a hesitant step forward, then another and another, hoping she wouldn't run. "Hello..." His voice was soft and soothing. He wouldn't dare attack this beautiful creature of nature, perhaps not even if she took offense to his approach. Maybe she had noticed his efforts at cleaning up her habitat? "You are... beautiful." That was the complete truth, and it shone through his eyes as he stared at her.

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Lapras || Female || Shell Armor || Water / Ice || 07 Sing || Growl || Water Gun || Mist || Confuse Ray The Lapras flinched in surprise as the human boy all but flailed when she spat a water-fountain sized stream of water at his chest. It wasn’t dangerous or anything; just a tiny bit of water to see if he was okay. Hopefully he wasn’t injured or anything, and she’d just make it worse, but once he sat up, she knew he was going to be okay. The old Lapras had a gentle heart, despite her age where most would get grumpy, and continued to float where she was, watching and waiting to see what he’d do.
He got up, and the old Pokemon was immediately on her guard. Humans have gotten so strange lately, and she remembered with a sense of nostalgia how she used to give the little ones rides on her back... That was, until they all went insane with something and started to attack Pokemon. She watched the human come closer and closer, though he didn’t seem to be threatening. In fact, the tone he spoke in was quiet, nearly timid, as if he didn’t know how to speak loudly at all.
The human wasn’t a threat; or so she didn’t perceive. He wasn’t reaching for a Pokeball, so he didn’t look like he was going to attack. The Lapras waited until he had gotten close, and then leaned down to take a whiff of his blue hair. She was ready to sink back down into the depths if he tried anything, but right now, she was curious.

Even in every day conversation, smiling was rarely one-hundred percent genuine, and more likely something he did because it was expected of him. However, when, instead of fleeing his approach, the Lapras bent its long, graceful neck to sniff at his strangly colored, once black, hair, a brilliant, toothy, grin forced itself to the surface below bright blue eyes. After a hard day of his favorite kind of work, the appearance of a Pokemon that, to him, was almost the embodiment of peace and balance, made it a perfect day.
As the breath of the dual-type tickled at his ears and the back of his neck, Nate couldn't prevent the sigh of startled laughter that slipped through his lips. Both hands came up reflexively to push the source of the tickle away, but he froze, not wanting to frighten the Lapras. "Come now," He murmured gently, shoulders jerking a tad. "That's very ticklish, what you're doing."
Instead of touching her and scaring the so far peacefully unafraid Pokemon away, Nathan kept his hands to himself and dipped back out of the way so he could look up into it's eyes. Or her eyes. There was something about the Lapras that made him want to refer to it as a 'her', even though he had no way of knowing. "So what are you doing up here then?" He tilted his head curiously, and swept a quick glance around the area. "It is kind of dangerous for a special Pokemon like you to pop a head above the waters in these times. A lot of Trainers would not be willing to just exchange pleasantries and let you go your own way."
More likely was the immediate and vicious beat down so she couldn't run from capture. Yes, it was how Pokemon were captured in most cases, Nathan accepted that and was willing to do it when it was needed. But in his opinion, you'd have to be heartless and soulless to take that path when confronted by special Pokemon like Lapras. One of the downsides to Team Rocket was that it seemed to attract members like that, unfortunately. He was glad he'd managed to avoid being partnered or something equally stupid and could do his own thing when he had time.
"Are you sick?" That could be a reason for the strange behavior, Nathan suddenly realized. He tilted his head first one way, then the other, trying to get a full view of her body.[/style] |

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Lapras || Female || Shell Armor || Water / Ice || 07 Sing || Growl || Water Gun || Mist || Confuse Ray The human’s voice was soft, quiet, not at all like those other noisy ones that came to the lake and threw things in it, or beat on the Pokemon that dared show up in curiousity. This one seemed so kind, but she had to remind herself that he was still human. Humans needed to be trod around carefully because of how erratic they were; some may seem nice, but they might attack at any second. Even so, she leaned down for a sniff, brushing the hairs from the blue haired human’s neck. It seemed to tickle him, and she drew away immediately, arching her long neck to stare down at him as if he were a novelty.
”Lap… ras…” An elegant, sing-song voice she did possess. She remembered those olden days, when she was much younger and used to sing all the time. Those days were gone, however, and now she was just a rickety old thing, unable to sing worth a dime. The human replied with his own voice, and she tilted her head in curiousity once again. What was he looking for? He seemed to want to peer around her, so she craned her neck back to take a glance, but nothing was there. She was ready to dive out of sight if need be, but nothing seemed to look for attacking her.
Leaning forward once again, she nudged the human with the tip of her nose. ”Lapras~” He was quite the curio; why did he have blue hair? As far as she’d seen, most humans had black or brown or blond, and there was that rare one with various shades of red. She continued to bump and sniff him, investigating him, figuring out if he was safe or not, though he seemed rather gentle in nature. Like-minded souls, she thought.

Was she sick? "I guess not," He murmured, tilting his neck back again to meet her eyes better. More soft laughter escaped when he found himself the object of a much more thorough examination by the Lapras, and he fought the urge to pull himself completely out of her range of touch. It was ticklish! Nobody had tried tickling him since his life-saving transfusion and it appeared that, despite the increased resistance to bad weather, he was still very sensitive. That was nice to know.
"You are lucky that the Rockets drilled control into me so quickly," Nathan said between her prods about his midriff. "I am an Electric type. Those first few weeks, I was sparking all over the place." He lightly stroked her neck. "But... my other half is also a water dweller. We have things in common." Strange, it still was, to have so much in common with a Pokemon, and little in common with his own species. Which he still technically was, and wouldn't allow anyone to tell him different.
A breath again stirred his hair as her nose came too close to his head, and he arched a brow as he felt the strands above cling to each other. His hand left the Lapras to move up there and he drug fingers through crackling hair. "That happens," He murmured, and then quirked a smile up at her and continued more conversationally. "You should see me back at the base in those carpeted rooms. The hair... I shock everyone who touches me. I keep meaning to buy some rubber shoes, but I was told it might damage my battle ability, and if I suddenly come under attack, I can't really ask them to wait while I take them off."[/style] |

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Lapras || Female || Shell Armor || Water / Ice || 07 Sing || Growl || Water Gun || Mist || Confuse Ray The human seemed to react well to being poked and prodded by the curious Lapras, making brief vocalizations that sounded almost happy. Ah, then she wasn’t scaring him then? Good. Gentle soul that she was, she’d quickly dive and be out of sight if it seemed that she was scaring him. The human kept talking to her in that happy tone, and the elderly Lapras continued to listen, even if she didn’t quite understand. All she knew was that he was no danger, speaking to her like that without making a move.
That was when she heard a faint scratching sound coming from up a nearby tree. Her attention immediately shifted onto guard mode, staring up into the foliage. Her curled ears twitched to pick up the sounds as best she could, wary, ready to feel as soon as something jumped out at her. And jump something did.
There was a sudden yellow blur pouncing right out of the top of the tree, landing on the ground briefly before jumping up at the human. Now that wouldn’t do, would it? With a sudden arch of her long neck, the Lapras pushed the human aside with her nose, getting him out of the way of the oncoming yellow blur.
WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Pikachu || Male || Static || Electric || 08 Thundershock || Growl || Tail Whip || - - - ”Piiii… Pika~” The Pikachu lay in the tree, napping in the noon in the shade of the foliage as any other day would have it. The sun was high, the air was clear and it was just a good day to be sleeping in, if anybody asked the electric mouse. His tail twitched occasionally and once or twice he nearly fell right out of the tree, if not for his impeccable balance.
He really was sound asleep until he heard something from the side of the lake. He had chosen a tree pretty close to the water because he liked the soothing sounds it made, but something else was certainly making noise today. Rubbing his little black eyes, the Pikachu stuck his nose out of the branches to see… a human! A human talking to a Lapras that he’d seen a few times since he first came to the lake. Was the human attacking her? Oh, he better not!
Without thinking or bothering to observe the situation more, the Pikachu’s hairs bristled and he pounced right at the human’s head, fully intending to use a thundershock.

NOTES Wasn't sure about writing this one. Grabbing the Pikachu felt a bit powerplayish- especially since I can't think that any attack of Nate's would miss something in his hands.[/style] [STYLE=font-family: Helvetica Neue; font-size: 20px; text-align: justify; text-transform: uppercase; font-weight: 100!important; float: left; width: 100px; word-spacing: 1px; padding: 10px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; border-left: 3px solid #333333; border-right: 3px solid #333333; margin-top: 319px; margin-left: -127px;][/style] | [STYLE=float:right; padding: 20px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; border-left: 3px solid #333333; border-right: 3px solid #333333; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; height: 365px; overflow: auto; width: 260px; margin-top: -405px; color: #cacaca]The Lapras's behavior had changed, her attention and gaze suddenly cast outward, away from Nathan. He felt it immediately, and with a curious and slightly worried look up at her face, he turned on the spot to follow her line of sight. Was there something there, in the tree? He narrowed light blue eyes, but saw nothing, so cocked his head and angled his right ear toward the leafy top of the tree by the lake. Was that squeak? Maybe a chirp? It was probably just a bird Pokemon of some type, so there was no need to worry. With a thoughtful hum in the back of his throat, Nate started to turn back to Lapras, "I don't think it-"
A flash of yellow shut him up and he twisted his head so fast, that he was sure it was only his serpentine Eelektross DNA that prevented something in his neck from cracking painfully. Before he could get a real clear look at the possible attacker, there was a hard nose in his side, and it knocked him into a stumbling motion out of the path of the incoming yellow missile. A Pikachu!? Electric! "No stop!" He spun on the balls of his feet and threw himself back between the half Water-type and the Pikachu. Lapras couldn't take any elemental attacks from the mouse. He could!
One step forward, hands still upraised, he caught the Pikachu, and a wince shaded his face as the Thundershock attack ripped through him. It wasn't the first time he'd felt that pain before. Some of the Rockets had interesting methods of teaching him control and cultivating a lack of fear for his own power. But now it was allowing him to protect Lapras, and it was even more worth it. Inside, anger rose right along side his own electric charge. A DISCHARGE attack of blue wound around his back and down his arms to the Pikachu and he took a step forward with grit teeth. "Don't... hurt her."[/style] |

Lifting up, she waved her fins forward, giving a small splash of water in what meager defense it gave. If anything, she’d have to dive and leave the human to himself. She could sense that he wasn’t a regular human either, so she supposed he could defend himself. Still, the Lapras would feel bad for doing so.
She only watched as the human seemed to throw himself in front of her, catching the Pikachu in midair, just as it discharged a bolt of electricity right into the human. Any regular human would’ve collapsed on the spot, but not him, it seemed. So she was right when she assumed he wasn’t a regular human, but she’d think on that later. For now, her focus was on the electric mouse, squirming in his hands.

The little electric rat practically had a fit, flailing and kicking and squirming as he unleashed a thunderbolt of epic proportions and expecting the human to drop dead on the spot. That’d keep him from hurting that Lapras, right? But unfortunately, the blue haired human did nothing but flinch, still clasping him tight...
And it seemed that the charge was given right back to him. ”Pikachu!” The little Pokemon cried as he was shocked right back, given a dose of his own medicine. He squirmed and managed to kick at the exact angle to come free of the human’s hands, landing on all fours just a few feet away. His fur was bristled up and he was breathing hard from being squeezed, but aside from that, the Pikachu seemed alright. He narrowed his beady black eyes however, glaring daggers at the human. What was he doing? What did he want with that poor Lapras?

It was the only word Nathan could think of to descripte the Pokemon that was trying to fry him at the same time he was trying to fry it. He could just barely keep a grip on it, and it didn't help that the painfully powerful tickle over his entire skin made him want to drop and roll on the ground, or scratch his skin until he bled. The Gijinka was almost thankful when the Pikachu escaped his grasp and he was allowed to pull his own power back inside, breath heavy for a few moments. "Arceus!" If it wouldn't earn him a fist to the face, he just might hug that hard-ass Golem Gijinka back at the base who'd taught him resistance and control.
The Pikachu was glaring at him, an odd look to see on the face of a Pokemon that by all accounts was supposed to be generally friendly. He bared his teeth at it, then schooled his expression quickly before looking over his shoulder at the Lapras. "Are you okay?" He swallowed, rewetting his throat, and gave her a nod and kind smile, meant to restore her confidence. "I'll take care of this. Don't worry." And he'd move the fight away from the poor creature. One stray bolt of lightning and... Nathan didn't want to think about it.
Turning his eyes back to the Pikachu, he narrowed them in a glare of his own and bent his knees in prepration. "I am not going to let you hurt her, mouse." Electric attacks, while they did hurt the Pikachu, weren't the way to go for obvious reasons. He had more. Nathan took a breath and curled his fingers, right wrist twitching. Each of his nails began to glow with silver light, and then those lights extended several inches to form a set of non-human, glowing claws. With grunt, he shoved off his back foot, rushing the Pikachu and arm swinging somewhat diagonally, hoping to hit it and perhaps even toss it away from the lake side with a CRUSH CLAW attack.[/style] |

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Pikachu || Male || Static || Electric || 08 Thundershock || Growl || Tail Whip || - - - The little mouse’s fur was raised along his back, glaring daggers at the human who was standing in front of the Lapras. Why was he attacking him? If he was defending the Lapras, he was going about it all wrong. The Pikachu was the true defender; he was almost sure of it. A low growl followed the previous outlash, aiming it directly at the human to lower his attack. This wasn’t an ordinary human, and ordinary ones were already bad enough as it was. What did this one want?
The Pikachu thumped his tail on the dirt, telling the human to just go away when all the sudden, he came running at him, claws extending with power. ”Pika!” The Pikachu jumped, but it was too late and the blue haired human was going too fast. The mouse went flying, smashing hard into a tree and slumping to the ground before getting up on wobbly four feet. Damn that human, he was strong. But the Pikachu, proud thing it was, wasn’t going down without a fight.
”Piiiikaaaaa~” Raising his tail, he unleashed a wicked thunderbolt.

Direct hit. Unfortunately it hadn't been as strong as he knew he could manage. The Electric-type had released a last second growl and the energy funneled to his 'claws' had faltered, just a tad. The Gijinka glanced over his shoulder at the Lapras briefly as the Pikachu hit the tree, making sure she was still there and safe, then ran after the attacking Pokemon. "Why don't you just go away?!" He raised his voice.
His response was a Thunderbolt.
The Eelektross Gijinka drove his toes into the earth as the bolt of electricity struck him dead on. He grit his teeth to keep the whimper he wanted to release inside, and dug his nails into his palms as he tried to keep his body from spasming out of control. It was just electricity. It was his element, and he could do things with it that the Pikachu wouldn't even dream of for quite a while. With that in mind, before the Thunderbolt attack failed, he lifted a shaking hand and took aim. Blue light bloomed beneath the yellow that enveloped him and then became a crackling CHARGE BEAM that he hoped would distract the Pikachu.
Either way, as soon as the Thunderbolt attack ran its course, he was running again, nails lengthened and glowing ready for a second CRUSH CLAW attack. The electricity had slowled him a bit, but the closer he got the faster he became as the effects faded and he forced himself through his didn't.[/style] |

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Pikachu || Male || Static || Electric || 08 Thundershock || Growl || Tail Whip || - - - The Pikachu watched in great satisfaction as his thunderbolt hit the puny human dead center, throwing a glance at the Lapras as if to ask her if she was alright. That mean old human was going to hurt her! Didn’t she see that? She was just floating there in the water, doing absolutely nothing to get away, only watching.
The Pikachu was distracted for long enough to not notice the human stopped convulsing and was now raising an arm, aiming a charge beam right at him. Too late. The electric attack sent the little mouse flying once again, landing in a bush this time before struggling back out, ears pinned back in displeasure and snarling under his breath. The human was persistent, he’d give him that...
With a mighty leap, the Pikachu jumped clear over the human and his crush claw, landing in between him and the Lapras this time. The yellow mouse turned to the old Pokemon and began flailing his little arms around, trying to warm the gentle giant to get away as fast as she could.
WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Lapras || Female || Shell Armor || Water / Ice || 07 Sing || Growl || Water Gun || Mist || Confuse Ray The Lapras watched with justifiable concern as the little Pikachu and the blue haired human fought it out right on the edge of her lake. She wanted to call out to the human and tell him to quit it, and that the Pikachu just felt threatened. She also wanted to tell that Pikachu to stop launching attacks and perhaps the human would calm down. She slapped one large flipper against the surface of the water, but it didn’t seem to get either of their attention.
A well aimed dodge later, and the Pikachu was in front of her, telling her to quickly run before the mean human could do her harm. What harm? He was the nicest human she’d met in the past five years! But enough was enough, and with a scowl on her once serene features, the Lapras opened her mouth and began to sing.
{Nope, you didn’t lose the Lapras. She wasn’t doing anything, so I didn’t stick her in that turn. She’s still there.}

Nathan noticed with distaste that the smell was beginning to become tingle in a bothering way with every breath he took through his nose. As he got closer to Pikachu with his upraised claw, he began to force himself to breathe completely through his mouth, and they came somewhat shakily. The Charge Beam had hit, and he was having to run further to reach his target, hopefully before it shook off the Electricity it was just as strong as him with, and got out of the way.
And it did just that. Seconds before his claw of energy struck home, Pikachu seemed to fly over his head with a powerful jump. It was a tough one, that was for sure. Too bad it took to using that power to randomly attack those weaker than it, instead of protecting them. More importantly right then however, and unfortunately, the Gijinka had thrown all of his weight into the downswing that would have surely taken the Pikachu out, and when it leapt, Nathan kept going.
"Damn-" The ground split and cratered beneath his strike, vibrating his body painfully as a small dirt cloud sprung up around his body and set him coughing as well. "Ooowsss," He couldn't contain the hiss as he drew fingers from the earth, coated in dirt. He gave it a slight shake, and as soon as he was certain nothing had broken, he spun to find the sneaky Pikachu again.
As he'd suspected, it was... wait. Nathan stopped his step toward the Pikachu's back. It was talking to Lapras? He frowned deeply, brow wrinkling as he glared down at the spot between the chattering mouse's ears. What... as it doing? "Huh..." He reached up to scratch at the back of his head, and wrinkled his nose as he idly realized he was getting dirt in his hair. "I think... I've made a mistake," Or Pikachu had realized the error of it's ways?
And suddenly Lapras was opening her mouth, and the most beautiful sound he'd ever heard in his entire life began to work on his mind and cloud his thoughts. He got warm, and his eyes got heavy... and seconds later he slapped hands over his ears in an attempt to block the sound, as heavenly as it was, from working it's sleeping magic on him. Nathan stumbled foward, moving around Pikachu, an apologetic look on his face, and tried to talk over the sound in his head that was urging him to just give up and lay down. "I think I understand. I am not attacking anymore. I'm sorry Lapras..." He didn't want to be lulled to sleep out there in the open. It wasn't safe. He glanced at the Pikachu, and then went to his knees slowly to further prove his unwillingness to fight anymore. Hopefully it would work and she'd end the Sing attack before he succumbed.[/style] |
