The two pokemon thought they had the little fire-type cornered, but at the last second a white streak came across their vision and then both it and the vulpix disappeared. The focus blast missed, and by the time they regained their senses Kangaskhan was reeling from a thunderbolt.
The normal-type shook her head vigorously, shaking off the attack with an annoyed glare but not without sustaining damage. and then it happened again, the absol charged at them, disappeared, and then reappeared to her left. Haru turned in time to stop the attack but it was too fast and she was too big. The pokemon stumbled, her burn shearing hot on the flesh of her shoulder. She retaliated with a Comet Punch then stepped back and focused through the laboured breathing she was now doing in order to summon yet another of her Focus Blasts.
Emolga squealed in horror, her friend was getting beaten up! He didn't notice the ember until it hit him, cringing against the hot fire his fur began to curl and a small portion of the bit on his head poofed up into what looked an awful lot like... an afro. Kagura blinked a few times, then burst out laughing, which made the little pokemon fluff up even more and try to flatten it's ridiculous hair down. The buildup of static from this only made the afro get bigger, now tiny sparks of electricity flying off it. It turned and chittered angrily at the vulpix, stomping its tiny foot on the ground.
This is all your fault!
He leapt up, and dove at the fox with an Air Slash handy, tiny teeth barred and its squirly voice let out in a cry. It was soon followed by a second Thunderbolt, and though his hair had grown to the size of a watermelon sitting on his head, the attack had luckily not burned Nero like it had his suffering and weak partner.

Screeching as he fell back, Vegas's breathe caught at the vulnerable position his beloved Absol was. "Athriel, watch out! Dodge it!" he commanded, and the white dark type really did try to comply. Its leap fell short however, and its back legs caught the tail end of the focus blast as the guy jumped directly at the Kanghaskhan. "Now latch on to the burn on the Kanghaskhan, and let loose a thunderbolt!" Vegas commanded. Athriel complied, aiming its sharp fangs right for the burn mark he could see to follow his trainer's orders.
Hemera on the other hand, was hostiley staring straight at the Emolga, intent on getting revenge on how the little thing had pretty much pulverized the small Togepi earlier. Hebe was her baby! Well, the young one was probably everyone's baby, seeing as how he was the youngest on the team. Still, Hemera mothered the thing, and she was pissed when she saw the Togepi getting creamed. So when the Emolga got himself an afro, Hemera couldn't help but cackle in delight, grinning connivingly when the Emolga chittered angrily. "Well, too bad for you then afro-head." she retorted sharply, and then jumped away to dodge the air slash.
Not quick enough to dodge the thunderbolt however, Hemera gritted her teeth and crouched lower to the ground as the electric attack hit. "Careful, your afro's growing. Let's water it some more, shall we?" she taunted, the second the attack let up, and Hemera quickly launched in the air to aim a direct ember in the Emolga's face, aiming for its eyes.

Kagura was still laughing, doubled over on himself and having to remove his glasses to wipe at tearing eyes with his sleeve. Nero grew red in the face, which just looked even more hilarious with the afro, and threw his tiny arms up in the air with an angred sqeal. He turned back towards the vulpix, chittering even more aggressively at it and waving his tiny arms. It puffed its squirly cheeks and glared at the fire-type.
I won't let you get away with this!!
The pokemon did not even launch itself into the air, it used quick attack, but it was not aimed at the vulpix. The emolga waited until the last second before the ember hit it, then used the move to dodge it and get closer to the vulpix with amazing speed, where it then used a second Air Slash.
Dodge this one!
Kagura was laughing so hard he nearly did not notice the more serious battle going on between the larger of the four pokemon. The white beast was crouched, ready to pounce at Haru, and the poor pokemon was becoming rather worse for wear, she wouldn't be able to take much more of this. Kagura further winced at the command that came from Vegas, to aim for the burn that was working its way beneath her skin. It didn't look good, and the blonde jumped to his feet in a shout.
"Haru! Duck, then attack!"
And she did, snapping to attention and obeying her trainer without hesitation the pokemon dropped to the ground and a very low crouch where the assailant neatly missed her by an inch. Her baby was lifted from her pouch as to not squash it in this position, and it squealed and babbled in delight. This also put her in a good position to release another of what was becoming a very overused Focus Blast, though Kagura did find it unlikely the mother would use a more physical attack while holding her baby.

A small smile was beginning to quirk the previous scowl that seemed to be permanently on Vegas's face, that is until the Emolga's chittered anger began to grow in crescendo. He could see now that his own vulpix was taunting the squirrel, but really now Vegas wasn't inclined to blame Hemera. He knew how overprotective his gentle and poised Vulpix could be. But that was no excuse for it to gloat over the Emolga and narrowly avoided getting hit by the air slash. As it was, Hemera squealed as she got hit, and fell a couple of yards away in the aftermath, before shooting a glare at the Emolga. "Why you little-" the Vulpix snarled, and then opened its maw to shoot another ember attack at the Emolga.
While the Absol had been trying to gain some ground on the Kanghaskhan however, the missed attack had Athriel rolling on its back due to built up momentum. While Athriel could've had a slight chance of dodging the following focus blast, Hemera's loud squeal distracted him. Having looked away for a second to ensure his partner was fine, costed him his attention, and in a split second the Absol was engulfed by the focus blast.
"Athriel!" Vegas called out loudly, anxious as to his Absol's condition. When the attack subsided, Athriel stood panting, heavily scarred for a second, before doubling over on his weak feet. Seeing that, the vulpix snarled in anger. She hated it when the Absol got the bad end of the stick. Bouncing over, Hemera launched herself at the large kanghaskhan, aiming once again for the burn to release another ember attack. "Athriel, c'mon, try harder! Aerial ace!" Vegas commanded. With a heavy groan, the absol managed to get itself to its feet, launch himself airborne to attack the Emolga, but even Vegas could see that his Absol was not going to last much longer.

Emolga was proud that its attack had landed this time, crossing its arms on its chest and grinning with its squirrly smile. He heard the vulpix get up, mumble something, and then small hot flames engulfed him. The shocked pokemon blinked a few times, its fur feeling funny and there being a strange smell in the air. He shook his head, and touched his embarrassing afro with his paws. Nothing to fear, it was only on fire. Nero stood there for a second, then screeched and hit the floor, rolling back and forth in an attempt to put out the little burst of flames that had started on its head.
Haru on the other hand, was turned and growling at the absol she was battling, no time to fool around or take breaks. She stepped forward, ready to attack the down pokemon and win, when everything went just a little out of control. Out of nowhere that fox appeared, and then the next thing she knew he shoulder was burning with much more intensity then it had been before. She half growled half roared and turned with fiery eyes on her new target. Just because this one was smaller didn't mean she was about to go easy on it. Kagura didn't have time to command his pokemon, he could see they were already hell-bent on ending things so he just sighed and waited this turn out.
Haru gritted her teeth against the pain coming from her shoulder, but managed to concentrated enough to let off a Focus Blast in the direction of the Vulpix, swiftly followed by a Thunderbolt. Nero was aiming for the vulpix, ready to attack the fleeing pokemon - how dare it leave him behind! But when he let loose a Thunderbolt of his own, the absol from before leapt in front of the attack. The emolga soon found himself flipping over in mid-air and landing headfirst on the ground, luckily the impact was lessened by his singed afro. He crawled to his feet, even more angry then before and waving his little arms in the air. Where had this guy come from!? He wasn't about to let some punk stop him from getting revenge on that vulpix, and so Nero took to the air and charged at the absol with the intent of using an Air Slash.

She was insistent in her attacks towards the Kanghaskhan, Hemera ignored the fierce growl and roar the dinosaur emitted to flip backwards away from the creature, preparing to go in for another attack. Leaping upwards to dodge the focus blast, yet the fox couldn't get enough time to dodge the Kanghaskhan's thunderbolt, and the Vulpix squealed as the electric attack hit her head on. Luckily for Hemera, at the very least the second thunderbolt from the Emolga was intercepted by Absol, who had jumped right in front of it to collide in to the flying squirrel with his aerial ace.
That seem to prove the Absol's downfall however, when the light cleared the white beast lay fainted on the ground, much to Hemera's anguish. Distracted, the Vulpix squealed loudly in anger as her body glowed in red. Her mouth opened as a large swirl of red and white fire shot out at the Emolga, in the Vulpix's overheat attack. Vegas's eyes widened at the newly learned attack. Obviously, Hemera was more angry about her partner's defeat then she let on.

Emolga zoomed at the vulpix, this time no one in his way to stop the Quick Attack he had aimed at it. His attack connected, but a sudden, searing hot group of flames came whirling back at him in retaliation. His "wings" as he like to think of them, caught an updraft and shot the little thing high into the air, its afroo not only making him top-heavy and therefore producing a great deal of upside-down-midair-swirlies, but continued to poof up to about twice its original size thanks to the humidity and temperature raise. The emolga ran its singed paws through its hair in horror. Oh. That. Was. It.
He swooped down, aiming straight for the little body of the vulpix with an Air Slash. This was personal now.
Kagura didn't now whether he was winning or losing this round anymore, both of his pokemon were weak thanks to the burn on Haru's shoulder that had been eating away at her health ever since that first ember attack, and the sudden high level of attack the tiny vulpix had just used. This duo wasn't going to hold out much longer, and Nero was about to rush the opponent and then probably get knocked out doing something stupid or rather.
"Haru!"
The injured and pained mother looked up at the call of her voice. She focused on the battle at hand and knew that even if this was to be her last stand she wasn't going to go down without a fight. she summoned what energy she had left in her and used Focus Blast on the fire-type across from her. But the burn was too much, and after yet another fiery attack from the ailment the normal-type was unable to battle any longer.
Kagura withdrew the large pokemon back into its ball, thanking it for it's efforts. He reached back around to his belt, retrieved another pokeball, and summoned yet another pokemon to the field.
Kiro shook out his body, taking delight in getting to be outside of his pokeball after so long. The dratini then turned its attention on the so called opponent. Who was this teeny little fox they were facing?
"Okay boy, you did good but I'm sorry to say this is the end for you, even if your vulpix survives this I still have yet another pokemon waiting to take over for Nero. You've lost."

Perfect, exactly what she had been aiming for. "Not so smug now, are we little afro-head?" the female Vulpix taunted, leaping to dodge the Air Slash as she trilled in delight when she watched the Kanghaskhan go down. If that was satisfaction, Hemera didn't know what is. Take down her favorite partner now did they? The Vulpix would make sure they paid, and paid hard.
Pulling out his pokeball, Vegas recalled his unconcious Absol back to its confines, praising and apologizing one half of two of his favorite Pokemon, whilst at the same time making a firm promise to train harder. They had to, he had to. He couldn't fail his Absol again, nor any of his Pokemon really. Not when they put so much faith in Vegas and his training. Looking up when Kagura spoke, the brunette's eyes narrowed at his 'partners' words. Ignoring the worry that swelled at the sight of the new and unscathed dratini, Vegas replied "Nothing's over till its over, Ren. Don't get cocky now." he clipped out, before commanding.
"Okay Hemera, overheat again!" he commanded, and his Vulpix squealed in response, her whole body growing hot again. In no time at all, the fire that had previously been emitted from her maw was called forth again, aimed at the Emolga, the one that Hemera had an almost deep running rivalry with now. Afro-head was going down. That little squirrel was going to be served for dinner, if Hemera had anything to say about it. But whilst the little Vulpix concentrated on obliterating her newly found enemy, Vegas couldn't help but glare at Kagura across their battling pokemon. Boy, was he? He'll show that idiot who was a boy, if it was the last thing he did.
