In the jungle, the mighty jungle, The lion sleeps tonight The words ‘special case’ sounded weird coming out of his mouth, and he had to wonder if that was really a good word for it. Johan was indeed something special, but he wasn’t quite sure how. It was one of the few things that Magnus simply could not figure out for the life of him, though he didn’t give it much time anyway. Perhaps Johan was special because he was his catalyst; the reason why he finally broke and fled. He was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak. He wrinkled his nose still, disliking how he needed to think of his younger cousin in that way. ”Well, there’s a first for everything. Make this one your first special case and stop asking me about it.” Even as he spoke, his body automatically shifted to stay as close to the warmth as possible. He wasn’t even aware that he had moved; all he knew was that Ludwig was nosing around in business that wasn’t his and he didn’t like it. Hush my darling, don’t fear, my darling The lion sleeps tonight

He didn't have special cases, didn't just let himself ignore such useful bits of information like the simple fact that Magnus had a 'special case'. He wanted to know who said case was. He wanted to know why they were a special case. Why couldn't he just kill him, or something?
Magnus pressed right back in closer, and Ludwig was going to abuse it to the very end. "I wouldn't want to accidentally kill your special case, so you'd better tell me all about her. Is she cute? Is she on the market?"

In the jungle, the mighty jungle, The lion sleeps tonight Magnus yawned, the tiredness of the day finally setting in. This week was full of work and little time to go and do his own thing, including looking out for his brother and his cousin. Again, he shook his head a little at Ludwig’s demand / request. ”No. If you accidently kill… Uh, her, then so be it.” And it wasn’t like he didn’t care, because he cared very much or so it seemed because what else would this worry come from? However, he didn’t want Ludwig to see that he cared too much, or else he’d push it and push it until something came out. The blond began to nuzzle at Ludwig’s neck, the chill of the room settling in as he became more relaxed. He pressed his hands under his partner’s shirt and against his back, absorbing the warmth of his skin like nothing else. Though he didn’t outwardly show it, perhaps inwardly he was growing more Seviper than human, and he didn’t like that one bit. Hush my darling, don’t fear, my darling The lion sleeps tonight

That 'uh' was suspicious as hell. Magnus was always composed and organized, always knew exactly the right thing to say. That hadn't been the right thing to say, though, and he'd stumbled, which made Ludwig a bit edgy. "Are we talking about a boy, then? Or a man?" Because it sure as hell wasn't just some ex-girlfriend. There was something else to it, some story he hadn't seen.
He shifted, half-uncomfortable by how affectionate Magnus was getting. He hadn't been this bad before - he'd changed, or been changing. It wasn't some big jump or anything, just a subtle shift. Before it had been separate beds, then same bed, and now he practically slept on top of Ludwig for the body heat.

In the jungle, the mighty jungle, The lion sleeps tonight He knew he’d slipped up even before Ludwig spoke again, and he silently cursed himself for letting his guard down. He was getting too damned comfortable just curling up and lazing about that his words were beginning to slip up. Of course, his partner’s accents on certain words were of nothing but skepticism and perhaps a bit of incredulity. There was still no way he was revealing who it was though, or any connections to himself henceforth. He’d just have to be a little more careful and a little less comfortable. Magnus finally let go of Ludwig, sliding over to the edge of the bed and away from him. It was slow going though, as he wasn’t all too eager to leave a source of warmth. ”Why can’t you be like a regular person and leave me alone?” He rolled over so his back was facing his partner, a loose spring jabbing him right in the ribs for his troubles. ”I doubt you’ll ever have any contact with this person, so just leave it.”Hush my darling, don’t fear, my darling The lion sleeps tonight

That wasn't any fun, now was it? It wasn't Ludwig's fault that Magnus had leaked a little bit about his ex. He was just being petty and stupid over it. No one had ever been special before, why were they special now? How had someone just become special enough they had to move to this craphole of a town? It was stupid, and he didn't like it.
"Maybe I'll seek them out, just to figure it out. Put a big wanted ad up about it, just so I can kill them and we can go home." That would be nice, only he was starting to get the impression that sort of thing would get Magnus very mad at him. Even so, the fact that he was mad was sort of useful, because it gave him little hints about what the hell was going on with his partner.

In the jungle, the mighty jungle, The lion sleeps tonight It might’ve been true that he was being sulky about the whole thing, but this was the one time he thought he deserved to be. He wasn’t ready to face Johan yet and in fact, was now sincerely thinking he’d applied for the relocation way too early. Maybe he needed a few more months. Hell, maybe he needed another goddamned year to get his shit together before he could see his cousin again. Putting himself in close proximity this early could ruin a lot of things. Magnus actually growled in Ludwig’s direction at the comment, immediately feeling threatened before putting himself back under check. He absolutely needed to stop reacting like that. ”Don’t you dare. It wouldn’t matter much anyway; we don’t exactly have a place to call home. Epispect moves us around all the time anyway.” He was tactfully trying to push the subject aside because he knew very well how good Ludwig was at talking, and he needed to shut the guy up one way or another. Of course, there were a couple of surefire ways to do so, and he was bordering on desperate enough to try them. Not quite yet. Hush my darling, don’t fear, my darling The lion sleeps tonight

What the hell. That was an entirely new thing for him, an entirely new surprise. It was another strange and confusing moment, added to the stack of the past week or so. There were all these new things he was learning about his partner - all of them rather curious indeed.
"Yes, but before we were valuble enough they moved us around in classy locations to keep us happy." Alright, so, they weren't really that classy. They were just better then this, and Ludwig let out a little 'hmph' as he rolled over, shifting on the bed to press against Magnus's back. He was content to let it drop, he supposed, but that was really only so he could bother Magnus about it later - when he was in a far better mood, and Ludwig wasn't so sleepy.
Letting his eyes drift shut, he started to fall asleep, content to lie there.
