LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Nathaniel Ward
★ NICKNAME: Nathan, Nate, Natey
★ MEMBER GROUP: Team Rocket Gijinka
★ POKEMON: Eelektross
★ AGE: 18 (old enough? 18 is adult)
★ HEIGHT: 6'2"
★ WEIGHT: 145 lbs
★ FACE CLAIM: Kaito from Vocaloid
★ APPEARANCE:
At initial glance, he stands at at least six feet in height, and were it not for the light muscle adding some nicely lean poundage, he'd be entirely too gangly. At a distance, his eyes might appear blue, but upon closer inspection, one would definitely notice the faint traces of blood red hidden deep inside. Thick silky hair sits messily atop his head, and in the rain, one might notice the way the water seems to bead on and slide right off it, the same way it tends to do with his skin. Dry, it attracts a strangely large amount of static, and can sometimes lead to amusing photo material. The scars from his blood transfusion still remain for those looking in the right places, but he's purposely acquired a deeper tan in hopes the color will cover them. Other than that, he'd always very neat in appearance and clothing, and rarely shows signs of having to shave.

★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Outer changes in his life have led to inner ones as far as his personality goes. Vanity, or one. He can hide in public, but behind closed doors, he's checking for new changes besides the hair and eye color that has made it so easy to become a new person and hide from those who want his blood. Did his teeth feel sharper? Did his toes seem a little more webbed? Or was it all in his head? But he can hide this like all the other changes he's noticed and that are making him anxious. The strange dreams, the sudden love of red meat and raw fish, his barely controllable rage towards the disregard that so many people show the oceans and other natural Pokemon habitats. He knows how to keep a false smile in place.
But it's not all bad. His new elemental powers and position in Team Rocket have reinforced his already existing confidence and introduced a new optimism in him after such a painful ordeal like he experienced with the illness he believed would kill him. At least in regards to his future. He has one! Who knew? Believing that he's with a group that seem to share his dreams for the world's future is definitley helping him adjust, and he's already laying plans that, with enough time, he hopes might see him in a position to use Rocket resources for his own goals. They're just as worthy and run in line with the ones Team Rocket states, he doesn't see how it would be a problem. The safer he can make the world and city, the sooner he might once again see his family.
He's never truly been the forgiving sort, but betrayal such as that by his uncle Tyler has him dreaming of a violent confrontation- one he isn't certain he wouldn't welcome if it came to it. He's had some very blood filled and entertaining dreams that he worries he might not have had without the DNA of a carnivore flowing alongside his own. And of course, the money that rightfully belonged to his mother, and he suspects but has no proof that his uncle killed his grandparents for, could help him a great dea. For now however, he's trusting the small payments from Team Rocket and any job he can work while still leaving time for training to see him though.
Basically Nathan will come across as a kind enough person with layers that might make others uncomfortable as they become apparent. Protective of some, violently hating others and wishing them death. Eerily focused on his goals for the future and willing to do anything it takes to open paths to it. A tad too corteous in conversation, friendly enough, asking questions and making conversation, but not revealing too much about himself. But he's making the best of all of this, taking it one day at at time. He refuses to just give up because things are bad and different, at the moment.

H I S T O R Y
- Nathaniel Ward was born a slightly underweight baby boy to two very different, unmarried people from two very different societal classes. His mother, Larana Lockwood, was the youngest child of the incredibly wealthy Upper District Lockwood family. Michael Ward, his father, was a dock worker without family, who regularly had trouble buying enough food for himself to last the days between each tiny paycheck. The marriage came after his birth, and not for money, as Larana's choice to 'shack up' and have a child with Michael resulted in her disinheritance. The elder Lockwoods loved her their daughter, but the old money family hadn't survived to see this changed world by being careless with marriages and their fortune.
- Even without the money he could have grown up with had circumstances been different, Nathan still grew up in a small, but warm household, always clean on the inside despite the filth on the out. Larana used the education her upbringing provided her to become a nurse at the local Pokemon Center and assist Michael in bringing a greater cashflow into the house. Visits to his Grandparents weren't forbidden, despite the initally strained relationship between them and his parents, but they were rare, and he still always received a gift for every birthday and the important holidays. Shortly after Nathan's eleventh birthday, the elder Lockwoods died together in a freak fire, leaving their fortune to Nathan's uncle, who he'd never met. The visits and gifts ended immediately.
- In school, Nathan was one of the 'unknowns'. He was quiet, but had everything else that was generally needed to fit into the 'cool crowd'- but he turned them down when they came recruiting. He didn't understand their immaturity, or the need for bullies to do what came naturally. Instead of joining one of the obvious cliques, he crafted one of his own in a way, bringing together people with similar mindsets as his own and making a family of sorts out of them. They were so close, that even after one horrible death from the always terrifying Disease and two move-aways, they remained friendly until their late teens. Academically, he was only slightly above average, but that was mostly due to his boredom in school than anything else. He preferred a good book to every sport his school focused on, but when suggested, he did join the tiny, relatively unknown and uncared about swim team so he could have more time in the water, doing what he loved.
- His love of water didn't extend to just swimming laps in it of course. Nathan also developed an early need to protect it. It, and the forests, and the mountains, and every natural area still remaining. They all deserved to be protected, and, growing up, his activities became more centered around minor and not so minor acts of environmental activsm, and of course Pokemon, beings he found facinating with their ability to adapt to the universe's natural forces. He volunteered or took the initiative for every activity that allowed him to clean up a devestated neighborhood, or help a Pokemon, whether they were school/community sponsered or he had to wander into the wild to get things done. He wasn't afraid a few scars from wild Pokemon. He was willing to do anything it took to improve the world he was growing up in.
- This plan for his future that began as a childhood dream, somehow lived on all the way his late teen years. He even had a name for it by that point, pulled from books that he couldn't be sure were fantasy or reality. He wanted to be a Ranger, something that, by the looks of it, his home most definitely needed. Their purpose was inspiring, and he was determined to become a Trainer as his first step to that, so he could use their power atop his own physical and mental strength to protect and clean up as much of the world as he possible could, even if nobody else ever shared his dream.
Then Nathaniel contracted the Disease, and he began to die.- He never told his parents about his frequent trips out into the wild, and he suspected that his moment of infection was during one of those trips, but it didn't matter in the end anyway. He was still infected, as rare as it was to see the disease these days, and his parents could barely take care of him without risking infection themselves, as they didn't know how far along the disease had to go before he was capable of infecting other people. So Larana and Michael did something they'd sworn they'd never do for as long as they lived. They went to her brother for help. Now, Nathan had known there was something huge between his uncle Tyler and mother, but he never felt comfortable asking. He got a slightly bigger picture of why they hated each other when his uncle allowed him to suffer for three whole days while he thought about it. Though, about whether or not to spare a relatively miniscule amount of money to save the life of his nephew. But eventually he acquised.
Nathan's blood was slowly drawn from his body and a nice cocktail of his same type and Eelektross was fed back into his veins. Recovery began...- Nathan didn't now that he'd been sentenced to a life of being hunted by his uncle Tyler. Not right then. He didn't know that his mother's brother was attempting to get back the family's money after his own mismanagement of the Lockwood family fortuned was very quickly making them broke. He'd opened up business dealings with the illegal dealers and traders of Pokemon DNA and even less savory things. He also didn't suspect, nor did his parents, that the doctor who'd performed his life-saving transfusion was in reality a highly placed thief, using his position to move blood onto the black market and had turned him into a glorified muse. And was well paid for it. He had no clue, that he was not little more than a target, dead no matter who got him first, the Epispect hunters who'd been suspicious of that particular doctor for a while, or the Black Market thugs, who fully planned on taking all that blood to sell for even higher prices to someone who just wanted the power it provided.
In fact, if Tyler Lockwood hadn't broken down out of guilt and confessed what he'd done t his very own nephew to his sister, Nathan might very well have been completely oblivious until the moment he was knocked unconsious and killed, just crossing the street one day. But he did- so there was time to come up with a plan.- They faked his death. Not all the transfusions went 100% after all, even though the procedure had been perfected. Sometimes things went wrong, right? That's what they'd communicate to other people at least. They'd say he had the disease too long, or that his body rejected the blood due to a freak accident, or a mix up, or a doctor who was drunk on the job. Whatever it took to keep people believing him dead. And for outward observers, because his parents never expected to see him again, they'd greive him as if he were truly dead.
- The best that could be done for him after 'his' cremation and memorial, was to find somewhere for him to go- someone who might be able to help him further. Larana, with her connection to many types of people through her job, had heard that Team Rocket was known to take in illegal Gijinka as easily as anyone else- and the most his uncle Tyler could do was set up a meeting there. Without anywhere else to go, he was provided a new identity- he looked really different with his new Eelektross DNA- as long as he understood that he now worked for their organization. And he found he didn't truly have a problem with it. They wanted to keep the peace, and clean up the world. He didn't even mind that the fight might get bloody. He'd always known that everything worth doing came with a price, and for the most important things, that price was thick and red.
- Nathaniel has been with the Team for a couple of months now, learning to use his new powers, as well as how the organization works. He's had no contact with any of his family, and is only just trusted enough to allow out of a safe house he'd been stored in while being taught. Not that they really believed he'd run- but because they didn't believe they could trust a 'kid' to willingly stay away from his family, or to use his new power in an obvious and dangerous manner that would reflect badly on the Organization. But now he's on his own again, stronger for his near-fatal illness, changed in looks and attitude. But the core of who he is remains the same. He'd going to become a Ranger. It might just be prefixed with Team Rocket when he makes it one day.
