Esdese poked out her head from the loose shrub to gaze onto the road. There was nobody to sight, only a barren pathway that leads deeper into the park. Her Torchic had also shook his way within the foliage to get a few of the road. Their heads lined up perfectly from a vertical standpoint, trainer and Pokemon were one in this regard. To make sure the coast was clear her eyes moved from the right to left taking a good view of the place. Her Torchic did the same, following the sides in tune with his trainer.
"I think we did it," she remarked happily, popping her head back into the depths of her little hiding space. Her Pokemon did the same, retreating deeper into the green foliage. They didn't have such healthy plant life down in the slums. It was definitely a nice place to rest without having the threat of being gutted for stealing. Well that wasn't necessarily true if they caught her and dragged her back into the shop but for now there was not a sign of trouble for these frisky thieves.
They had stolen a loaf of bread this particular day. It wasn't a large loaf by any means but it was enough to satisfy their stomachs and quiet the hunger for some time. The bakers didn't expect a thing though. She swore that even when she passed the street there was no shout for surprise. The problem was, one cannot be off guard for a second. As far as she knew, the baker was probably looking for them right now.
"Alright ChiChi, you can have half and I'll get the other," she glanced down to the little Pokemon. She sat down next to the Pokemon crossing her legs attentively. Her hand patted the Torchic on the head before splitting the bread in approximately two spaces. She placed the piece of bread in front of the Torchic as she began to nibble on her share. Today was a good one, a great bounty for the duo. There was only a few ways this day can go wrong but she was confident they will be fine for the most part.

WILD DIGLETT APPEARED! [/style] Diglett || Male || Arena Trap || Ground || Level 6 Scratch || Sand-Attack || Growl The Diglett was tunneling under the park when he squeaked, backpedaling as quickly as he could with wide eyes as a drove of Drilblur shot right in front of him, nearly managing to take some of the skin off of his nose - in fact, it very likely would have if he hadn't managed to duck back in time. Panting a little with his eyes wide, he watched his fellow Ground-types tearing apart the soil before him before they were gone again, and even then it took him a moment or two before he was able to shuffle forward a little bit to inspect the damage the Drilblurs had done to the path of his tunnel, the small Pokemon ready to leap back at a moment's notice if there were any stragglers. He was lucky in that he couldn't see any others coming, or the main pack doubling back for that matter, but the fact remained that his tunnel was still completely destroyed, cut cleanly through with a long shaft that he knew he wouldn't be able to cross. He sighed quietly, realizing that this would mean that he would have to take a trip to the surface to go around it, not wanting to make things too unstable below ground and then possibly make the ground collapse. With that objective in mind, he began following the path of the tunnel upwards, eventually coming to where he could pop his head above ground, and at that point, he found his original task forgotten as soon as he smelled a strange scent. Sniffing at the air delicately for a moment or two, he began looking around, wondering where the smell was coming from and maybe if it happened to be edible. He was a little hungry, and if something smelled this good, then it made him want to try it, even if it was something he'd never tasted before. Food was hard to find underground, so he'd take whatever he could find, really.

Esdese was happily nibbling on her piece of bread while watching happily how adorable Torchic was trying to enjoy his share. The little chick Pokemon was eagerly pecking at his piece of bread, perhaps even a bit too eager. The bread seem to bounce as she pecked to get a small clump of it. What ended up happening was a game of peck the bread. Where the bread went, he was sure to go.
"Now ChiChi don't get too far," she warned, her voice still close to a low whisper. ChiChi only looked up momentarily to signal that he had heard her response then continued his peck, throw and repeat way of eating. It would have been better if he wasn't so voracious towards the food but the problem was their access to food. He was always hungry just like his trainer.
His share was about halfway done before he gave a might peck at the piece of bread and it flew into a hole in the ground. He looked from side to side to make sure nobody else had seen it and rushed over to the hole. He peered down but found only darkness. In his eagerness he tried to peck at the darkness to hopefully reach his bread. It was a futile attempt as he felt a shock from the recoil. He peered down the hole and tried to muscle his way in. It was a success!
"I told you so!" his trainer called out from behind. Then he felt a sudden pulling from his behind but it seemed as though his head was stuck. He called out in pain and soon the pulling stopped. He just wanted to eat, was that so wrong?
"I can't just leave you here!" Esdese stated flatly, not quite concerned about the bread at all. The Torchic tried to pull himself out with his legs but it wasn't very effective. A little whimper could be heard escaping his mouth. Was he going to starve while stuck in this hole?
"Torchic!" he called out for help.

WILD DIGLETT APPEARED! [/style] Diglett || Male || Arena Trap || Ground || Level 6 Scratch || Sand-Attack || Growl The Diglett was moving about on the surface, following his nose when he happened to hear a voice. He froze, his eyes wide at the possible threat, and then he saw what appeared to be a Torchic crawling into a small hole. A human then tried to pull the poor Pokemon out of the hole, but it was obvious that the poor thing was stuck. Now he could just go away and leave the other two to their predicament while he tried to find the source of that smell, but that wasn't in his nature. He didn't want anyone else to suffer, so that was why he ducked down to burrow through the soil again and then peek out in the little alcove with the Torchic, where it was struggling. "Lett lett diglett dig dig diglett diglett," he explained as quickly as he could, nodding a little in a mockery of what the humans did in their old fairy-tales - he believed it was called a bow. Don't worry, I'll get you out of here, just stay still so I can work. He then burrowed back up to the surface again, popping out to take a measure of the current diameter of the hole before he ducked down to just beneath the surface, carefully digging a small tunnel with his side brushing against the Torchic's down the entire time, widening it a little at a time until he felt it was big enough for the bird to be able to tug himself free from the light layer of unsupported soil that now held his head captive. Nodding to himself at his handiwork, he then burrowed down again, popping out of the same hole near the Torchic that he'd come out of the first time, not wanting to startle the poor bird unnecessarily. "Dig diglett dig,
[/i]" he stated, blinking quietly. Okay, you can move now. He was pretty sure that he'd made escape possible for the little bird, but if not, he'd stick around long enough to be sure they didn't need his help. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

Esdese was not the type to leave her partner hanging for the most part. If it was a matter of escape, the Torchic usually end up outrunning her. She can't leave the little chick Pokemon stuck in the ground. They had bigger and grander things to do than be starving to death with their head in the ground. The repeated failure in getting the Torchic out, only made her worry even more. If only she was bigger and stronger than perhaps her Pokemon would already be free by now. No, if she was bigger and stronger they wouldn't have to take food and run all the time.
The Torchic didn't stop trying to pull himself out. It wasn't until the Torchic heard the Diglett did he stop his futile struggling. He could feel the dirt around his head shuffle out. He happily pulled himself out of the hole and ran over to his trainer. What he saw wasn't something he expected. Esdese who was so brave and strong was crying. It was obvious why she was so sad but not to her Pokemon. Torchic called out and she stared back down in surprise. Before long ChiChi was holding the Pokemon in her arms, cuddling and almost squishing the poor Pokemon.
"Oh ChiChi you're alright, I'm so happy," she cried, snuggling and smothering the Pokemon in kisses and tears. The Torchic called out and squirmed free to go back to the whole.
"Torchic Tor, chic," it called out, using its side wing to point down at the hole. He was now talking about his lost piece of bread, quite longingly as well, along with the encounter with another Pokemon.
"Are you on about that piece of bread again?" Esdese asked only to get a no from the Pokemon.

WILD DIGLETT APPEARED! [/style] Diglett || Male || Arena Trap || Ground || Level 6 Scratch || Sand-Attack || Growl The Diglett watched as the Torchic pulled his head out of the hole with relative ease, and immediately the little Ground-type felt a surge of relief, that pleasant warming feeling that came from his chest from a job well done. He had helped someone else, and that always left him feeling happier than before he'd managed to do it. Now that he had played the part of the timely hero, he decided to try to reward himself for a job well done by going looking for that delicious smell he'd been chasing earlier, before he'd gotten himself involved in this whole mess. He blinked in confusion, however, when he realized that the scent was coming from further down in the hole, and with that, he shuffled down further until he poked his head out to find that there was some fresh bread at the very bottom of it, the source of the delicious smell. His mouth started to water and he contemplated taking a bite when a thought occurred to him. Wait. The Torchic had no reason to be putting its head down inside holes normally, and he'd like to think that it wasn't dumb enough to stick its head down a small hole to get something that didn't belong to it. So, following that logic path, this bread belonged to the Torchic, and he couldn't just take food out of someone else's mouth. With a little sigh, he headed back up towards the surface, balancing the bread on his head as he navigated his tunnels back the way he had come, and then popped out of the ground again with his prize. "Dig, diglett dig," he murmured, nosing it forward towards the two. Here, it's yours. No one could say he wasn't a decent Pokemon at the very least.

Esdese was surprised to see the Diglett pop out the ground, enough so that she tripped over her feet and fell down on her butt. The shock was more painful than the actual fall. The Torchic however only saw the source of the food and jumped to grab the bread. When it was clasped into his mouth, he suddenly made a run for the trees to peck at it again. It didn't take long for Esdese to realize what was going on. The Diglett must have helped freeing her Pokemon.
This was what her mind had registered or at least assumed. This Pokemon was awfully useful. Maybe the Diglett can be more useful than just digging a Pokemon out of the ground. The idea was so solid and she was struck by the moment of genius that she was determined to add it to her team. That was when she dug into her pack and dug out her share of the bread. She had nibbled it to halfway so she could save it for dinner later.
"Thanks for helping us out Diglett," she thanked, offering the bread out for the Diglett.
"Here! You can have this, maybe you can continue to help us?" she pleaded. If that didn't work she had another idea planned...if only the Diglett took the bait.

WILD DIGLETT APPEARED! [/style] Diglett || Male || Arena Trap || Ground || Level 6 Scratch || Sand-Attack || Growl The Diglett immediately felt bad when the little human fell right on her butt on the ground, the Ground-type quickly shuffling forward so that he could peek at the small girl to make sure that she was okay and hadn't gotten hurt when he'd startled her. After a quick lookover though, he could tell that she was okay, so he bobbed back again, not wanting her to feel threatened. He blinked when she brought out some bread, his eyes widening when she seemed to be offering it to him. He wanted to eat it, but he didn't want to just take food out of someone else's mouth. That wasn't the type of Pokemon that he was. When she offered it, he shook his head, pushing it back towards her, though he blinked in confusion at the last part of what she said. She wanted him around to keep helping her? He thought over that idea for a little while, toying with it, before he nodded. He thought he could live with a Trainer like this, especially if she really was quite as sweet and her other Pokemon so quick to get into trouble. "Diglett dig dig!" he cried, bouncing a little in a vague parody of a nod of agreement, sitting before her with a happy expression on his face. He was going to throw his lot in with her, if only so that he could try to play her white knight and be able to protect her and her Torchic from getting into even more trouble.

Esdese was a little bummed out at the fact that the Diglett refused her bread. However the Pokemon seemed willing to join them so she guessed in the end they will still be partners in crime. That was the important part of this encounter. A new companion means there would be more ways to steal and more options meant more possibilities. These possibilities translated into sweets, perhaps they can have more sweets this year than ever before! The thought made her mouth water a bit but she forced herself back to real life. No matter how much she dreamed about lots of food, it didn’t mean she actually had them.
“Thanks Diglett, I really appreciate the help!†she remarked, putting out her small little hands to gently pat at the Pokemon’s top. She then reached over into her pockets to dig out some Pokeballs. She had managed to get hers hands on a few unused Pokeballs and they were relatively precious but she was willing to use them. More Pokemon meant more mouths to feed but that also meant they had an ally. She smiled, obviously happy about the thought as she expanded the ball in front of the Diglett and tapped at him for the translucent light to try to capture it.
The Torchic in the meantime had detached himself from what was going on with his master. He was busy occupying himself with his piece of bread again, happily going farther and farther into the park. It wasn’t long before he finished the rest of the bread and collapsed onto the ground out of satisfaction.

Twitch Twitch~ Twitch Twitch~ Twitch Twitch~ DING! The Pokeball shook a little bit in the girl's hand, though it seemed more like the Diglett was exploring his new home rather than trying to escape, and after a moment or two, it settled down again. With any luck, the new occupant would be a good companion for the his new Trainer and be able to help her out if she or her other Pokemon got into trouble again.
WILD DIGLETT HAS BEEN CAUGHT!
WILD CLEFAIRY APPEARED! [/style] Clefairy || Female || Magic Guard || Normal || Level 4 Pound || Growl || EncoreThe Clefairy couldn't believe it. She had tried to talk to her friend Jigglypuff about her dream to become a famous singer, and her fellow pink Pokemon had laughed in her face, scorning her and telling her that she'd never make it as a singer. She sniffled quietly, her little paws coming up to rub at her cheeks to try to scrub away the tear tracks. It would not do for any of her fans to see her crying. Then she remembered that her friend was right and that she had no fans and she burst into a renewed fit of tears, letting out a little wail as she did so. She had just wanted to be able to pursue her dream of being able to become a singer, and instead she'd ended up being ridiculed and shoved away. Finding a little rock that was just the right size, the young Pokemon rested her little pink behind on it, bowing her head as she started sobbing into her little paws, unable to contain the hurt that had launched into her heart like an arrow, wounding her and making her want to cry and sob and curl up in a little hole for ever daring to dream to be something more than she was. In her grief, she didn't even notice that someone else was nearby, but even if she had, she didn't think that she'd be able to stop crying in order to do anything in response to them anyway. She was just too broken-hearted over the whole thing to try to be any sort of decent company.

ChiChi had almost fallen into a nice nap before there was a disturbance in the force. Actually it was just a plain old disturbance but it sure gave him a shock. He let out a call of distress for a start and jumped back up onto his feet. Whoever made that annoying sound was going to pay for disturbing his rest. Unlike Esdese, he wasn’t the nicest person on the streets. If anything he was a real bad boy. The worst of all, he was a grumpy flaming chick.
He began to prowl the area, looking for the source of the loud noise. He was in hunting mode now, prowling the jungle (in more accurate terms the park), looking for the unfortunate prey. He enjoyed making himself seem far more awesome than he actually was but if he intended to protect her trainer than this was just a matter of practice. One day he was going to evolve into a big strong Blaziken and the two can steal all the food they will ever need. For now he must train and the source of that irritating voice will be crushed by her mighty fames (albeit he wasn’t able to generate it).
That was when he happened across the source of his agony. It was from an innocent Clefairy that seemed awfully sad about something. The Torchic almost rushed forward and tried to ask why it was so sad but he forced the thought back. No matter how sad this Pokemon was he was going to have to take her down. This was no place for sympathy and he steeled himself, charging at the Pokemon.
“Tor, chic, Torchic! (Stop it with that noise)!” Torchic called out , his claws poised to scratch at the Clefairy.

WILD CLEFAIRY APPEARED! [/style] Clefairy || Female || Magic Guard || Normal || Level 4 Pound || Growl || EncoreThe Clefairy was sniffling quietly, her little paws rubbing at her eyes as she tried to wipe away all the tears and the gross snot that was dripping out of her nose in spite of her best efforts to make it stop so that it wouldn't get all over her beautiful face. She had to look pretty if she wanted to try to make a good impression, though a very large part of her wanted to throw in the towel and just give up on trying to look gorgeous if it mean that she wasn't even going to be able to get noticed one day and maybe have fans and be famous enough to be able to sing whenever she wanted and have people clap and cheer for her. That was all she wanted. It wasn't too much to ask, right? Right? At the sudden voice, she started with a little squeal, trying to scramble back a little to get some distance only to push her rump too far off the back end of the rock. Her arms waved rapidly, trying to restore her balance, but it was already too late despite her best efforts, and she ended up toppling over the back end of the rock to land on the ground hard with a little cry of pain. That had hurt. Sniffling as she rubbed at her injuries, she peeked out from behind the rock at the Torchic, renewed tears springing up in her eyes again. "Clef clefairy fair fair!" she called back before hiding again, trying to stop the waterworks that were welling out of her eyes. I can't help it, okay? You try being quiet when you're crying! She just wanted to be left alone in her misery so that she could properly mourn in peace.

"Torchic tor tor-chic tor (Well I don't care, shut up before I scratch you again, cause I live on the streets and tough," ChiChi responded, showing off his talons. He thought he was bad stuff and after having a bit of food in his stomach, he was ready for a fight. That was until he was picked off his feet. He began to kick the air below him in panic.
"Stop it ChiChi, why you make the other Pokemon cry?" Esdese asked with her cheeks puffed out in anger. ChiChi responded with a short cheep and looked away, just as mature as his trainer.
"Aww sorry if ChiChi was mean, he doesn't mean it, he's just grumpy," she apologized.
"I don't see a lot of Clefairies, are you visiting from far away?" she asked with all her childish innocence. Clefairies always seemed like a rich or star famed Pokemon.

WILD CLEFAIRY APPEARED! [/style] Clefairy || Female || Magic Guard || Normal || Level 4 Pound || Growl || EncoreThe Clefairy immediately burst out into another wail when she heard the Torchic's response, sobbing heavily into her paws simply out of sheer terror. She wasn't a fighter! She was a singer! Those claws looked sharp and then they would rough her up and no one would care because she wasn't famous and then because she was ugly no one would want to be around her and she wouldn't be able to become famous ever, no matter how good she could sing! The tears came faster than ever, the droplets big and fat as they fell from her eyes, and they blurred her vision so much that she couldn't really see anything beyond the smudged kaleidoscope of colors before she heard the sound of another voice. Her body shaking with the force of her sniffling, she calmed herself down enough to wipe away the tears immediately in front of her eyes, and as soon as she did, she focused on the girl who was holding the small Torchic that had threatened her and made her cry. The human... was sorry that the Fire-type had made her cry? And thought she had come from very far away? She sniffled, pawing away the last of the tears, and with a little bit of effort, she managed to calm the sniffles and hiccups that tossed her body around like a Pokedoll long enough to reply. "Clef, fairy clef clefairy... clef fairy fairy clef clefairy," she mumbled shyly, looking up at the human. It's okay, I was already sad... and I've been here for as long as I can remember. Her little curly tail twitched behind her as she added a hesitant, "Clef... clefairy fairy?" She knew it was rather rude, but well... she couldn't help herself. She wanted to know. Do you... like me? Heart pounding in her throat, she hopefully waited for the answer, conveniently forgetting that humans couldn't understand her even if she could them...
