LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Kiyoshi Suzuki
★ NICKNAME: Ki, Kiyo
★ MEMBER GROUP: Gijinka
★ POKEMON: Sharpedo
★ STATUS Illegal
★ AGE: 20
★ HEIGHT: 6'7"
★ WEIGHT: 178 lbs
★ FACE CLAIM: Ryo Marufuji from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
★ APPEARANCE:
Kiyoshi isn't really a hard person to pick off the street. Indeed, if you've seen him once, you can never really mistake him for anyone else, and even if you haven't, a simple description of him doesn't leave much room for error. Really. It doesn't. To start with, he's quite tall, maybe not towering, but he can stand at least an inch or two above a good bit of the population if he really wanted to. He's kept himself fit over the years, so he has quite a defined chest if he's ever caught shirtless, though he's not vain enough to flaunt that. He isn't strong enough to lift impressive weights like some of the Fighting-type Gijinka, but he's got enough strength to him to be able to rock-climb if he wants to, an old hobby of his back before he received his transfusion. And that transfusion is actually to blame for why he's so noticeable off the street. Before he received the Sharpedo DNA, he had long black hair, the locks coming down to feather lightly over his shoulder blades while his bangs are scattered lightly over his forehead, though most of them are too long for that and he instead leaves them to frame the side of his face and tickle his chin lightly. After he received the DNA though, to his horror the color bleached out a little, giving him a dark teal blue coloring for his hair. His eyes, luckily, didn't really suffer a change in pigment with the addition of foreign DNA to his system, and as such they remain a swirling deep blue that can appear a silvery gray in the right lighting. To top off his general appearance, it is usually rare for him to be carrying a tan no matter how long he spends outside, the Sharpedo DNA not really letting him darken anything more than a few shades, so he's rather pale, though since he likes to hang out in shadowy places, perhaps it's not so strange that he doesn't really tan.
Now for Kiyoshi's choice in clothing. No matter what he chooses to wear that day, he usually puts on a pair of black leather pants and a black belt that can hold all of his Pokeballs on it. From there, however, his exact appearance can vary wildly. When he chooses to wear his white jacket with the blue trim and the blue collar with the gold star pin, he usually finishes out the look with a pair of smart-looking black dress shoes and a black fingerless glove on his right hand. This is usually reserved for trips within the city or to places where he knows he won't be trekking through mud and other such grime that could possibly stain the trailing edges of the coat that billows out around his ankles. The thing only buttons up from his chest to his waist though, and despite appearances, it is actually quite comfortable, if a bit more of a jacket for the warmer end of the spectrum. However, when he's going out of the city, he wears something a little warmer and more sturdy, more suited for the wilds around Aether. With high boots that come up to encase his thighs and a long black coat with white trim (that is quite warm, just throwing that out there too), he sticks out a little bit, but he's more than capable of handling himself against anything that comes his way. Since this jacket remains open and is actually long enough to swish around the edges of his boots, he usually wears a skin-tight black shirt underneath it. The odd pair of buckles that come out of either side of the waist on this jacket is more than offset by the affection he has for it, and it is far more common to see him in this than it is to glimpse him in the white one.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
★ POSITIVE:
- Prideful;; Kiyoshi knows he's powerful and he knows that he's rather attractive, and that contributes to a certain swagger to his step, though he thankfully knows not to temper his ego with a little bit of humility.
- Innocent;; Believe it or not, but Kiyoshi actually is quite self-conscious about matters of the heart, particularly the more physical side of things, and while he will admit he has a certain attractiveness to him, he doesn't really think all too much about it, and if he's hit on, he'll turn a bright red and splutter as he reacts to it.
- Withdrawn;; Kiyoshi doesn't like to really interact with people all that much, and as such, he's quite content to curl up in a quiet little shady corner of a room and catch up on some reading or patch up the wounds on his Pokemon before he heads back out into the field to continue training.
- Honest;; When someone asks for his opinion, Kiyoshi won't lie to them to save face or for any other reason, following his feeling that however painful it might be, the truth would be more preferable to hear than an outright lie.
- Self-sufficient;; Kiyoshi has always prided himself on being able to take care of himself regardless of anyone else's assistance, care, or anything else they could possibly contribute for that matter, and in that he succeeded, managing to make himself completely independent of others, something he prides himself on greatly.
- Protective;; When Kiyoshi holds something dear to him, he will go to any lengths to make sure that it is kept out of reach of anyone who might wish to bring harm to it or to take it from him.
★ NEGATIVE:
- Aggressive;; Kiyoshi has always had a temper to him, but ever since he got the infusion, he can be downright vicious when he's irked, lashing out with little regard to the consequences until it's too late.
- Sadomasochistic;; As might be expected of a Sharpedo Gijinka, Kiyoshi gets a good deal of satisfaction out of seeing others in pain, but what's surprising is that he also gets a sharp surge of pleasure when he's on the other end of that spectrum.
- Aimless;; Kiyoshi doesn't really have an overarching purpose to his life, and while he doesn't want to die, he doesn't really have anything he's striving for before his life runs out, not anymore at any rate, and as such, he takes each day one step at a time.
- Blunt;; Unfortunately, with his honest streak, Kiyoshi often ends up saying things that can be hurtful because he won't soften the blow with a white lie, and since he would rather get straight to the point than dance around an uncomfortable subject, he can be outright harsh in his words sometimes.
- Stubborn;; Kiyoshi doesn't really care what anyone has to say or think about his choices, he'll just keep moving on in the same way he always does, and when he does change his mind, it won't be because someone tells him to, it'll be because he himself made that choice.
- Hypocritical;; Kiyoshi is a firm believer in "do as I say, not as I do", and indeed, there are many things he will openly decry but actually rely on himself, not the least of which being isolating oneself from others, so yeah, Kiyoshi doesn't entirely believe in what he preaches, at least, not if his actions have anything to say about it.
- Bitter;; Kiyoshi lost the love of his life to Gijinka-haters, and while he has mostly moved on from that, he still harbors a fierce hatred for those who discriminate against the Gijinka without having cause, never mind that he refuses to be around a couple out of the pain he feels in his heart from the loss he experienced.
★ HABITS, QUIRKS:
- Kiyoshi loves meat in all forms: poultry, fish, steak, pig, and even eggs, though he harbors a special love for rotisserie chicken, and when he gets his hands on one, he can easily polish off at least half of it in a single sitting.
- An avid rock-climber since his youth, Kiyoshi will go spelunking or climbing about once a week, and while he claim it's to keep in shape, he really does enjoy it just as much as he does being able to immense himself in water, an oddity he's acquired since the transfusion of Sharpedo DNA.
- Kiyoshi has a firm subconscious draw to dark places, and while it began with an inability to fall asleep if too much more than a few errant rays of light fell into the room, it has since progressed to him seeking the deepest patches of shadow possible to move and stand in.
★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Kiyoshi really fits the traditional stereotype of a Sharpedo Gijinka. He's quick to bite, he hangs on with a frightening stubbornness, and when he finally lets go, he leaves a lot of damage in his wake. He has a rather short temper, though he can keep it in check when he needs to; the main danger to him, however, lies in his aggressiveness. He will get as violent as he likes in response to someone irritating him, and he won't think about anything that could come of his actions, not now that he's lost almost everything he's ever held dear. He's disconnected from a lot of the people around him, not wanting to get close to them, but given his temperament, that's actually a bit of a good thing since he takes pleasure in watching others squirm in pain. He doesn't really have a whole lot of purpose, handling things as they're thrown at him, but he sure as hell handles them well, disposing of any threats that may come his way and snapping at any potential ones. He doesn't want anyone near him, still bitter over the loss of the woman he once loved, and any reminder of it will be dealt with in a harsh manner that can and will leave their fair share of scars.
For those who know him, however, Kiyoshi is a bit more different than the aspect he presents to the world. A lot of the time, his advice can be rather useful, he merely doesn't follow it himself, and he's very headstrong. A force to be reckoned with, when those who he has allowed close to him are threatened, he will swarm and attack without mercy. He's already lost someone that he held dear once before, and he refuses to allow such a situation to happen again. Despite the confidence he might initially display and the history he had with his late lover, he is actually rather innocent in the ways of love, not really knowing the more refined intimacies of maintaining a relationship - in fact, it's fairly easy to make him blush, mostly since he's still a virgin. Yeah, he knows a twenty-year old virgin is cause in some circles for ridicule, but given that the only person he ever thought of romantically died on him, it's perhaps understandable that he's refrained from giving that part of himself away to someone else. Surprisingly, however, he's actually a bit of a masochist, enjoying when he's hurt, though he's careful to hide that part of him since he doesn't want them to think any less of him for it. He'd rather keep up an aloof demeanor than he would a more open front, if only because he's not sure he's ready to move on from his last love interest quite yet.
All in all, Kiyoshi is just as prickly as his Gijinka type, using his hurt and anger at the world to form his own version of the rough skin that the Sharpedo naturally possesses, but just as a Sharpedo can be a valuable fighter and a surprising companion should a Trainer choose to own one, so too can this man prove to be a valuable friend to make an a dangerous enemy. It's simply a matter of getting under his skin.

H I S T O R Y
- Kiyoshi was born the eldest of three siblings. His parents lived in the slums, but they were kind and hardy, teaching him how to survive and even thrive in such a rough environment as he grew. He spent much of his younger days protecting his other siblings from harm, getting into more than a few fistfights as he played the role of the protective older brother who wouldn't stand for any insult to his family. He lost quite a few of them before his father, finally taking a bit of pity on him since he only got in the fights to keep his younger siblings safe, decided to teach him how to fight properly. Kiyoshi caught on quickly, and after that he was in and out of trouble as he would beat up kids who tried to bully his siblings. He would never deny his actions to a teacher though, so it wasn't an usual thing for the administration to believe his version of events over anyone else's since, more often than not, he would make himself look worse than he actually was.
- By the time Kiyoshi entered middle school, he had obtained a bit of a reputation for being rough. He didn't have a whole lot of friends between the tough reputation and the stand-off nature of the male that repelled most people, something that Kiyoshi accepted. His parents had been forced out of work over the summer, and as a result they'd had to move from the slums to the canopy, living like they were little more than trash. Kiyoshi got used to living rough even if his grades were enough for the school to allow him to continue attending it despite the fact that he no longer lived in the district. However, it wasn't long before the local gangs took notice of Kiyoshi's power, especially once he made it clear that his siblings were not to be touched. Still, he managed to remain independent of a gang while completing his middle school curriculum, taking care of his siblings and keeping them on the right path as they grew older and both their parents struggled to find work.
- When Kiyoshi was preparing to enter high school, everything changed. The gangs began to get more aggressive with him and his younger siblings, and to his horror, the groups began to court the two to try to recruit them for their fights. Furious, Kiyoshi sought to make it crystal clear that his younger siblings were off-limits, but he made little headway until one of the gangs approached him with a deal. If he joined their number, they would make sure the other gangs left his siblings alone. As much as Kiyoshi loathed the idea of being part of one of the gangs he so despised, he joined up anyway to protect his younger siblings. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming more and more distant with his family as he tried to keep his siblings from following in his footsteps. But it was here that he met the gang's lieutenant, a young woman with just the same kind of honesty and fire to pique Kiyoshi's interest. She was a year younger than he was, but she was much tougher, having grown up in the canopy, and it didn't take long for the gang leader to pair the two of them together for tasks since their styles were so similar.
- Kiyoshi really hit it off with his new partner. They might argue every now and then, but it was mostly over things like his protective streak and her habit of getting herself into trouble. It didn't take too long for the two of them to think of each other romantically, and she began to attend Kiyoshi's high school with him - he'd gotten kicked out of his old one because he continued to pick fights, this time ones that were gang-related, and so he had been sent to one intended for troubled teenagers, or in other words, delinquents. She'd had a transfusion in her youth to become a Gijinka, a Starmie to be precise, and the small crowd of Gijinka-haters were a radical bunch, prone to threats of violence and bringing knives to school. They would scream curses at the pair, and despite Kiyoshi's promises not to let anything happen to her, the little home she had possession of after her parents had died was lit on fire the summer of Kiyoshi's senior year. Sensing that the male would break down completely if they told him, the other gang members kept it a secret from him, and so Kiyoshi didn't find out until a week later, when another gang member jeered that he'd see his girlfriend real soon when they were through with him.
- Kiyoshi was devastated by the loss of the girl he had loved. He became unapproachable, refusing to let anyone take her position and just causing trouble for the gang in general as he sought to lash out at the world for taking from him the one person he had left in the world now that he had pushed his younger siblings away. He reveled in his darkness, and to the surprise of no one in his gang, it did not take him long to find someone willing to give him a transfusion so that he could feel closer to his late love. He hoped that by painting a target on his back, he would be given the chance to gain his revenge. For the entire next year, he was almost suicidal in his search for vengeance, even more so after his own gang threw him out for being too dedicated. The Sharpedo DNA only refined that darker side of him, making him more prone to lashing out and more violent when he did so now that he was stronger and didn't care so much for stopping.
- At Kiyoshi's graduation ceremony, what he desired so very much came to pass. The Gijinka haters tried to have their revenge against him for forsaking the humans and for loving another Gijinka, and that was what he wanted most. That day was full of screams and blood as the other students turned against each other and used the chaos from Kiyoshi and a handful of other Gijinka to settle personal scores. The main reason there was no loss of life that day despite Kiyoshi's anger and the ferocity of the attack lay in that the male's former gang quickly seized what control they could and assisted the school administrators in restoring order. Three people ended up in the hospital from Kiyoshi's hand, a full third of those who were injured that day. Kiyoshi, however, escaped and slipped off the radar.
- Kiyoshi lived on the run for a year. He would take odd jobs every now and again, sending the money home to his siblings, though he refused to see them, not wanting them to see how much lower he had sunken. Most of the anger that had driven him for so long had dissipated in that time, leaving behind this sense of... emptiness. He hadn't fallen back to any gangs, but there wasn't anything left but the urge to take revenge, and as one of his old friends had put it, "Revenge did nothing but cause trouble for others". He was still hurting, yes... but he didn't want to kill anyone. He just wanted to be left alone to nurse his wounds in peace. He picked fights left and right, almost as if he hoped that one day he'd bite off more than he could chew and he'd be killed. He managed to get himself in the hospital more than a few times, but it was when he opened his eyes to see his mother crying over him and his younger siblings asleep in chairs beside him that he realized exactly how he had been failing them.
- Kiyoshi picked himself back up. It was a slow process, but his parents took him back in and he was a part of his siblings' lives again. He earned his keep by doing odd jobs and making sure his siblings were taken care of, but it was obvious he still held himself at arms' length from them. He couldn't leave because he was still injured. He couldn't stay because he was a bad influence. He spent his twentieth birthday with his family, and they all scraped together to buy a little Wingull hatchling. The little Pokemon was all fluff and odds and ends, but he took to Kiyoshi right away, squeaking and nuzzling the hesitant, calloused hand that stroked his feathers. Strangely enough, when Kiyoshi left a week later to avoid being a further burden on his family and to keep them safe from the growing anti-Gijinka sentiments - and gang presence - he could feel nearby, he took the little Wingull with him, obviously intending to train the Pokemon to try to fill the void left behind from the death of the one he had loved.
