Xavier had little trouble sneaking past the guards at the cave's entrance so late at night. All he had to do was wait for the end of a guard's shift and slip into the darkness of the cave while they were distracted by the presence of their relief. Thus the gijinka found himself wandering through the dark caverns blindly until he felt it safe to pull out his flashlight and set to work. He'd hoped to be tactful in another way by coming to a cave at night; hopefully that meant all of the Zubat, Woobat, and their kin were off handling their business in the night, leaving more desirable cave-dwelling pokemon behind... like Whismur. The little pink pokemon was cute, yes, but Xavier revered it more for the fact that it evolved into one of the masters of sound pokemon, more than worthy of a place on the sound-themed team he wanted to build.
He used his free hand to adjust the goggles on his forehead, then tucked it into his pocket to adjust the volume of his MP3 player. It wasn't long before he found himself reveling in the music more than focusing on where he was going, letting his feet take him where they willed as the sad, hollow melody flowed into his ears and intertwined with his perception of the cave. If he was the type to scare easily, he might've been led to be a bit unnerved by the setup he'd made for himself. As he wasn't, he found himself whistling along to the tune, keeping his eyes open for any signs of movement or a texture that wasn't particularly rocky. If he was really lucky, he figured, he might even find some truth to the rumors of people popping out of these caves from somewhere else.
Part of him wondered what the guards did with such people. Were they carried off to some detainment place and interrogated? Were they sent back into the caves to go back to where they came from? He was highly declined to believe they were allowed to integrate themselves into society in Aether city, particularly without being watched or monitored in some way. Contact with other colonies was forbidden for a reason; part of him mused that it was probably because they were better places than Aether... or still facing the viral epidemic.
After a while of walking and whistling, he found a low outcropping of rock to serve as a decent seat where he could take a rest and perhaps get more focused on his search. He sat down, shrugging out of the satchel he'd brought along to hold all of his belongings, setting it close and pressing it against his form slightly so he would know if it was being fiddled with. He'd heard how mischievous some pokemon could be when they set their sights on a human's bag.

WILD LITWICK APPEARED! [/style] Litwick || Male || Shadow Tag || Ghost/Fire || Level 9 Ember || Astonish || Minimize || Smog || Fire SpinThe small Litwick had been sound asleep when the Zubat came by and screeched loudly at him. At the fright of it, the little Pokemon let out a loud squeal, his small cylindrical body squirming for a moment or two before he finally lost his balance and tumbled down out of his little alcove straight to the hard cave floor, yelping in pain as he made contact. Glaring upwards at the bat that had already flown away again snickering from having made the poor dual type fall, he huffed, his little flame puffing out with the irritation flashing through his body, and plopped himself back upright again. He glanced back up towards his alcove - it was more or less his home here, where he would sleep sometimes and where he spent most of his day watching the inhabitants of the cave - before he sighed. At this rate he wasn't going to find any humans. The very thought of it made him droop. Maybe it was because he was a Ghost-type, which implied he could have very well been one before he had died and come back as a Litwick, but he had always wanted to see a human. He wanted to know what they looked like, what they sounded like, what they acted like, what they tasted like... he wanted to know it all. And now, because he wasn't up high enough, he wasn't going to be able to because even if he was lucky enough to find a human... he was going to be too low to the ground to be able to properly hold a conversation with him. He sighed, forlornly glancing up at the alcove again before starting hopping in search of another ledge to perch on, flame lighting the way ahead of him. It really was just his luck that he would have been knocked off his ledge. It really was.
OOC: Hey Ghetis! Sorry I haven't really been around to officially welcome you to WK, I've been kept plenty busy with summer homework - still am if I'm being honest, hence why I haven't been cycling in a while - but anyway, this is my chance to say welcome and if you need any help or have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM or shout for me in the cbox. Anyway, welcome again, and I'm just gonna scoot away awkwardly now. *shot, really does scoot away awkwardly now*
Edit: Oh gods oops forgot to change the top banner thing off the mon I'd grabbed in from. My bad. Fixed now. >.>'

The sound of the bat pokemon's screech and the Litwick's subsequent yelp went unheard by the Seismitoad gijinka due to his headphones--perhaps fortunately so. He was not fond of the dissonant sound waves produced by pokemon of bat-like build, and he would've been seen as rude for ignoring the cry for help that came from the pokemon that happened to be coming his way just as he'd turned to look. He would've missed the ghostly being had it not been casting a light of its own in the darkness of the cave, drawing Xavier's attention to it. He held the flashlight up to himself so that he would make himself more visible to the pokemon before addressing it.
"Hey, what'a a Litwick doing out here? Makin' your way to the haunted house?" he asked, hoping he wouldn't startle the thing. It didn't seem like it had noticed him. Then again, it was hard to tell where that empty, yellow eye was directed. He had absolutely no intentions of even trying to take on or capture the partial ghost-type, and thus tried to sound as gentle as possible. He knew a lot of pokemon didn't have the best view of humans, or anything that looked remotely like one.
(OOC: Hi there, Kuroya, and thanks for taking the time to take my post. It seems like summer's a busy time for most mods (I was one on a few other pokemon sites for a while, so I know the feeling) irl, so I'm totally cool with being patient.)

WILD LITWICK APPEARED! [/style] Litwick || Male || Shadow Tag || Ghost/Fire || Level 9 Ember || Astonish || Minimize || Smog || Fire SpinThe Litwick was hopping around, occasionally leaning around to look about the circle of light cast by the small flame on his head, only to blink in surprise. There was another light there nearby, a little brighter and steadier than a fellow Litwick, but what else could it be? Maybe a Charmander, he supposed, as he thought about it. It would make sense, a Charmander's tail would likely be a lot steadier than a Litwick's flame wou- That was not a Pokemon. The little ghost-type blinked and looked up at the human, a little captivated by the light in the creature's hand. What witchcraft was this? How did it get the light to be so bright and steady? Not even a Charizard could manage something that was so bright and steady from its tail, so how was it that this creature could manage something like that? "Liii?" he murmured, cocking his head to the side slightly before trying to hop closer out of curiosity. He had to know this thing's secrets! He had to! He needed to find out how it worked so that he could copy it. That way he could cast a better light and maybe Zubats and other Pokemon would be less likely to push him off of perches that he'd found and made into homes or nests.
OOC: Ah, just so you know, you can skip a Pokemon if you're not wanting to catch it or KO it. You just need to mark that you are skipping it, and if you skip two in a row, you have to take the third one regardless of what it is or if you want it. Also I hadn't noticed that, so thank you for pointing it out!

Xavier couldn't help but chuckle at the Litwick's response to his presence. Obviously, this one had never encountered a Trainer before, else he would've high-tailed it at the first sign of a human. It seemed to be more interested in the flashlight than he himself, thus the gijinka figured he'd shine the light toward the pokemon. He didn't want to blind the thing, however, and as such shined the light toward its feet... foot... lower half rather than its face.
"Yeah, I'm talkin' to you." he joked, fully aware that the candle pokemon may not have been able to understand him. Depending on how young it was--and particularly since it seemed this was its first encounter with a human--it likely wasn't yet familiar with human speech. He then stood, shrugging his satchel back onto his shoulder. "I know you like my flashlight, but I've gotta keep moving. You're welcome to follow if you want."
With that, he fingered around in his pocket for his MP3 player, changing the song to something less dismal. This was a cave, but it didn't necessarily have to be dark and sombre. He restrained himself from whistling along to this new song, instead focusing on spotting any sign of a pokemon he was actually looking for. He didn't want to leave empty-handed, particularly since leaving would've been a feat in itself if he allowed himself to stay until daybreak, when it was harder to escape the sights of the guards.

WILD LITWICK APPEARED! [/style] Litwick || Male || Shadow Tag || Ghost/Fire || Level 9 Ember || Astonish || Minimize || Smog || Fire SpinThe small Litwick was more than a little interested in the human and his odd glowing orb thing, but he seemed like he was in quite a hurry. Besides, the dual type had his own issues to worry about, such as climbing back up to his perch, so he merely flared his light once in a farewell before hopping away again, the flame flickering and hopping in the darkness of the cave before it too disappeared once more.
THE WILD LITWICK WAS SKIPPED!
WILD LARVITAR APPEARED! [/style] Larvitar || Male || Guts || Rock/Ground || Level 6 Bite || Leer || SandstormThe Larvitar made a loud sniffle as he waddled, his gaze fixed on his hind paws and the rock floor beneath him. His mom had told him to wait right here and that she'd be right back... but that had been a day ago. His stomach was rumbling loudly, and he was afraid of the dark, and he could already feel the tears welling up in his eyes. He sniffled and rubbed at his face with his paws, ducking his head lower so that he can manage to reach everything with his stubby little paws. He wanted to be a good boy and listen to his mommy, but he was just so hungry... he had to eat. But he hadn't been able to find so much as a single Berry, and his stomach was rumbling, and he just knew his mommy was going to be worried and mad when he got back. But he was lost, so... so what if he never got back? The thought made him let out a loud wail, the tears flowing down faster and faster before he found his paws giving out and his behind made contact with the cool stone beneath him. He just couldn't stop crying, why couldn't he stop crying, he wanted his mommy!
OOC: Just so you know, however, there is a benefit to fainting and catching Pokemon - you can then turn around and sell them to members by creating your own shop or use them for studs for breeding with breeding shops. Many of our members have one or both, myself included, and the best part is, even if you KO a Pokemon, you can still catch it! Rather generous, no?

It didn't take Xavier long to register the strange wailing echoing throughout the cave; his sensitivity to sound let him easily detect it over the relatively quiet points in his song, causing him to turn down the volume and follow the crying to its source. His flashlight roved about the cave until he spotted a flash of pale green, examining it from where he stood for a moment to realize that it was a Larvitar. From the way it was crying, it didn't look very old, causing the young musician to wonder why it was just sitting there all by itself. It was then that he realized his luck. This was a Larvitar. While personally the dark-rock pokemon wasn't his cup of tea, the last time he'd checked Tyranitar was an extremely popular pokemon. If he could manage to catch it, maybe he could trade it off for something he wanted.
"Hey there," he called gently, not wanting to upset the bawling pokemon any more than it appeared to be. "What's the matter, buddy?"
It seemed this cave was full of young pokemon, which was all the better to Xavier. If he actually found what he was looking for, that would mean he would have time to bond and grow with the pokemon as opposed to gaining one that was already set in its ways. For now, though, he figured the Larvitar would do; if he found a Whismur or something else he wanted later on in the cave, that would make his trip two for one. Even more than worth it.
(OOC: Oh, I was aware of that. xD It's just not like Xavier to catch most pokemon. I do thank you for relaying the info, though.)

WILD LARVITAR APPEARED! [/style] Larvitar || Male || Guts || Rock/Ground || Level 6 Bite || Leer || SandstormThe Larvitar was sobbing loudly into his little paws, his head tucked down and his noises rather loud, echoing in the silence of the cave as the sound rebounded from the walls that were pressing in on him. He was a bad boy! He had disobeyed his mommy and he couldn't even find any food to quiet his rumbling belly! The tears were pooling faster and faster, dripping down his arms, and he let out a loud wail when suddenly he heard the sound of footsteps. His head shot up with a whimper, his body already whirling with the slightest hint of a Sandstorm attack for protection and cover, but when he saw that it was just a human, he squeaked and quickly calmed down, forcing himself to relax just like his mommy had taught him to. Humans couldn't fight back against him, so his mommy had always taught him not to attack them. Besides, he didn't want to hurt anyone anyway. He was just hungry. "Lar lar larvitar," he mumbled, looking down and pointing a paw to his stomach, which had the excellent timing of rumbling loudly. He was hungry and he hadn't found a single Berry or Apricorn to be able to gnaw on in the hopes of being able to provide some sustenance for himself. Instead he tapped his paws together with a wince, looking a little sheepish as he sat there on the ground. Hopefully the human would give him something to eat and help him find his mommy. Hopefully.
OOC: Ahhh, sorry if it came off as condescending. Just wanted to point it out in case you'd skipped without knowing that. >.>' *crawls off to a hole now*

Xavier took a moment of pause when the Larvitar seemed poised to attack, but relaxed as it seemed to calm and come to believe that it wasn't in any danger. He listened intently as it spoke to him, learning of its hunger more through its gestures and its grumbling stomach than its attempt to communicate. He frowned at that, pulling his satchel into the beam of his flashlight so he could rummage through it with his free hand. He knew he didn't have any food for the pokemon, but he couldn't stop himself from looking.
"Sorry, I'm all out," he murmured, crouching and offering his hand to the pokemon. "Come with me, though, and I'll find you something. Is that alright?"
He made sure to keep his tone steady and gentle; even if the pokemon couldn't understand his words, he wanted it to know through his actions that he didn't mean it any harm. He had no intention of trying to capture it without it knowing at least a little bit of what was going on, particularly since an uproar on its part could've drawn stronger pokemon that the gijinka wanted to avoid. He wasn't there to fight.

WILD LARVITAR APPEARED! [/style] Larvitar || Male || Guts || Rock/Ground || Level 6 Bite || Leer || SandstormThe Larvitar tapped his little paws together, blinking as he watched the human bring a bag around in front of him. "Lar..." he murmured, curiously leaning forward as he tried to peek into the fabric to see the contents. He didn't manage to get a peek before the bag was whisked away from being in front of his eyes, and he blinked as the human crouched down in front of him, one of his paws coming out. "Lar?" he squeaked in surprise, looking up at the human before nodding and getting up off his butt, brushing it off with a paw as best he could before turning and putting his other paw into the one pro-offered to him shyly. He was rather interested in the offer of finding food, though a small part of him worried where his mother had gone. She'd said that she was going to be right back, and she'd said not to talk to strangers, but well... the human was being so kind to him and he'd offered to get food, so really... he didn't see the harm in going with the human, at least for a little while. And if push came to shove, he could always start crying, and some mother Pokemon would come out and protect him, even if it wasn't his mommy... right?
OOC: Graaaaa I am so sorry about letting this sit so long! School has been destroying me the past several weeks, and when I get home, I'd look at this and say to myself "I'm doing this today" but it'd never get done.
