Still, it was nearing evening, and she was hungry. So was her houndour, no two ways about it. What had triggered the rumbling in her stomach, however, was the smells wafting from the cafe, causing her mouth to begin watering almost simultaneously. They had good--no, great!--food there. When had she gone there last? She used to go all the time. Now, with the houndour she'd just purchased from another trainer by her side, she decided now was as good a time as any to catch dinner. With a stretch, the raichu gijinka looked skyward. Today was a good day. She'd gotten to spend it with her new pokemon, and what could be better? She still needed a name for him, but in the cafe was a good time to think of one, wasn't it? Something cool, obviously. Houndoom were awesome pokemon, after all. Something that suited a cool, canine pokemon. "Come on, Houndour. Let's go in, shall we?" She motioned to the cafe, and the pokemon, who had obviously been around a human before, gave a nod of his head. He had a better nose than she did, and could smell the food. She could order him meat of some kind, like a steak. She bet he'd like that, especially a rare one. The pair walked in, pokemon and gijinka, and the smells assaulted them full force. Even down the block, you could smell this place. It was a cozy, and nice cafe. Not too big, not too small: just right. She took a seat and picked up a menu. Houndour knew better than to try for a seat, instead staying close to her and watching the people with apparent interest. In reality, he was not really interested in them. They weren't his new trainer. She seemed to be a decent sort, and he was feeling fortunate. Not everyone got a decent sort, after all. Other pokemon had it far worse, and he liked being out of his pokeball, which she allowed. Being forced to stay inside all the time was hellish. The seat across from her was empty, but she didn't mind. Sometimes, when she'd come here before, a friendly person would sit at the other seat and converse. Maybe today, that would happen. And if not, she wasn't exactly alone. Soon enough, a serving girl came and asked if she could get her a drink to start off with. She already knew what she wanted to drink, and ordered the banana chocolate milkshake and pulled out a water bottle for Houndour, pouring it into an empty collapsible water dish she expanded. He wasn't too thirsty at the moment. She took care of his needs all day, and he'd had a drink only a couple hours ago. Still, he perfunctorily took a sniff and a couple laps. He was hungry, and the smells were getting to him. He figured she had pokemon food for him. He liked pokemon food well enough, and yet the smells in this place were far more tantalizing to his senses. He couldn't know, of course, that he was being treated today. Raine did not have the kind of money to feed her pokemon all human food. Pokemon chow was relatively cheap, since so many people bought it in mass quantities. Every store seemed to have it, just about. Pokemon centers too. It wasn't always easy storing it for the pokemon, and some people--including herself--mixed human natural foods into the mix. Some pokemon liked meat or fish, or fruits and veggies. They were often able to eat what you made for them. Trainers who planned to have more than one or two though, could not usually afford to feed them all that way. Her milkshake arrived, and the server asked her if she would like to order. She was still looking at the menu, and deciding. Her milkshake was fine for the moment. Plus, it was delicious! She sipped it a little as she scanned the menu for what she'd order. The steak was there, sure enough. It was kind of pricey, but that was okay. She was treating since it was Houndour's first day with her. She figured she'd maybe like a chicken burger...maybe. She wasn't sure what she was in the mood for. So she didn't notice when someone else came in, and took a seat across from her...
