He'd come across it at a decent price, and since he rather thought ninetales a decent fire type, had gotten it. He was told the sire to it had been one of the differently colored ones. He was hoping for one that was regular in color, but the differently colored ones seemed to draw a lot of attention, and were sort of interesting. He'd heard that ninetales of this kind had pure silvery white and icy blue coats. He wouldn't mind seeing that, but as there was a only a fifty fifty chance it would even be colored like its sire at all, he was hoping it would hatch and solve the mystery for him, as it were.
He'd stopped by the cafe and gotten a coffee and muffin. Now, he sat on a park bench with the egg in his lap, wondering how long it would take. He'd been told that today was the 'expected' date. So here he was, waiting and watching as patiently as might be expected. If it hatched, he could be on his way and get down to the business of procuring more pokemon for himself. That was his goal, after all. He didn't quite know what he wanted, but one fire type was definitely on the list. How could he be a fire type gijinka, he figured, and not want to have at least one fire type on his team? It made sense to him, anyhow. Ninetales was as good a type as any. Or vulpix, until it evolved, anyhow.
There were people walking by of all sorts. One thing they seemed to have in common was that they looked to be enjoying the warm, sunny afternoon. He was here because he had no other place he could think of to go. It was safe, it was nice out, and if he had to wait, might as well be in the open air. Not that he'd have admitted it, but he also thought that this was a nice place for a pokemon to come into the world. Not premeditated, exactly, but he'd wandered this way on that thought. Loner that he was, even he got a little bored sitting here on his own. He watched families and couples and friends walk by. He sighed, and took a sip of his coffee. The wait was on. He only hoped it wouldn't take all day about it. [/style]

When she was just a girl, she expected the world But it flew away from her reach, and the bullets catch in her teeth It had been a relatively slow day, as far as they went for someone like Ramses. On a regular day, perhaps he’d be at home and studying something he’d never seen before; the alignment of stars or perhaps the etymology of all the words that start with ‘z’ in the dictionary. Perhaps he’d be painting or drawing or mastering another song on the harp he often lost among the copper and metal clutter in his house. Maybe he’d even be attempting to clean up said clutter, pick up a few spare pipes and then give up to go and replace the rustbucket of a car in his back yard with new gears. But he wasn’t doing any of that today, because he was spending time at the park. He supposed that as of late, he’d been spending a lot of time there. For the past couple days, maybe a week, he’d been sitting under his usual tree and watching everybody come and go. He’d learned to recognize regular faces, schedules and habits and all that, but held no particular interest other than simply watching. Ramses blinked slowly, watching with a sort of helpless separation from the real world. He wasn’t feeling well today, he could only guess, though his health had been in a bad state lately. In fact, for the past year, he could only guess that the virus was making a comeback and going for his immune system… or his throat, as the dryness and his raspy voice could tell anybody. He blinked once, or maybe he closed his eyes or something, but the next thing he knew, there was a guy sitting next to him on the bench with an egg in his lap. Ramses practically jumped right off the bench, flinching a little because damn, that startled him. ”…o-oh.” It was more of a little squeak than anything, wide-eyed at the man sitting next to him. In the night, the stormy night, she’d close her eyes In the night, the stormy night, away she flies and dreams of paradise

He realized that things moved so quickly lately he often missed that small window of time he took to just watch, listen and think. More like he let his mind wander, while he watched the world go by. He hadn't even been paying attention to the other person sitting on the bench. Not until it seemed, all of a sudden, the other realized him there and was actually startled by that realization.
He'd been there a while, and this guy was just realizing it now? Still, Tai was feeling pretty calm and relaxed at the moment. Too much so to scoff at such a minute thing. Instead, he actually gave the man a curious look. Then he noticed what he hadn't at first. He'd not been paying attention, after all. The other man was missing a limb.
Now, Taichi wasn't the kind of guy to feel sorry for someone just because of a handicap. Yet that had to suck, not having an entire arm. Having to function with just one hand. Plus, the other individual...he looked kind of off. Sort of drawn...was he unwell? That was just poor luck no matter how you looked at it. He couldn't help but wonder exactly how he'd lost that arm. Accident? Or something else? He wasn't the nosy type. He minded his own business and expected others to do the same. Now that he was looking though, he realized he was looking. Shit, he felt rude for that. If the guy took offense he would totally understand.
"Hey," he greeted him, at least wanting to not seem like a total ass for staring, "name's Taichi. Sorry if I startled ya'." He didn't normally make apologies--especially since the fact that this guy had been startled was no fault of his own. He had eyes, and should have used them. But he was in a decent mood. Albeit being stuck waiting on an egg, it was...peaceful here.
There were people here at all times, but he could never remember it being crowded. It was always just quiet, save for occasional laughter or sounds from pokemon. Even though he wasn't a fan of kids--in fact they were annoying little buggers--even having them running around from place to place here, they weren't really bothering anyone. Playing with their friends, parents, siblings or on their own--sometimes with pokemon--they minded their own business, too. It wasn't really what he was used to, but it was a nice enough change from his usual reality.

When she was just a girl, she expected the world But it flew away from her reach, and the bullets catch in her teeth He was given a little time to refocus, in a sense that the guy seemed to stare blankly at him after he practically jumped off the bench in surprise. Ramses followed the guy’s eyes, soon finding that the blond was looking at his arm… or lack of one. Thankfully, he was sitting on his right, so the pinned-up sleeve was halfway obscured. A part of him just wanted to get up and leave. Not because he was insulted; he deserved most insult he got anyway, but because he was immediately put into a situation where he was the center of attention. His lips pressed into a tight line and his gaze fell to his lap; dirty jeans with oil stains around the knees because he’d been working on that rattling death trap that passed for a car in his back yard. Tearing out the guts, replacing it with different guts and having it mess up on him every step of the way. He looked disheveled, to say the least. His hair was beginning to get a tad too long, and he’d soon need to take a razor to it because he wasn’t going to set a single foot in a barber shop. His shirt itself was plain, but his jeans were probably the worst of it. The park itself wasn’t so crowded, but nobody usually noticed Ramses, and so he slipped under the radar without a clue-in by most. He’d hoped it would stay that way for today, but obviously not. ”Oh… I… S-sorry…” His cheeks flushed as he clutched his bag a little closer to his lap with his good arm. What was he apologizing for, anyway? He wasn’t quite sure, but he felt the need to say sorry anyway. But the other man was introducing himself, and so he tried to do the same. ”I’m Ramses.” In the night, the stormy night, she’d close her eyes In the night, the stormy night, away she flies and dreams of paradise
