LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Lyall Grace Eldridge
★ NICKNAME: Dream Walker - well, he likes to be called that, but no one else will.
★ MEMBER GROUP: Team Rocket
★ POKEMON: Musharna
★ STATUS Illegal Gijinka
★ AGE: Twenty-one
★ HEIGHT: 5’10”
★ WEIGHT: 135 lbs.
★ FACE CLAIM: VY2/Yuuma/Roro from Vocaloid
★ APPEARANCE:
Lyall is a unique looking young man, despite being of a rather average height and slightly skinny build, and mostly thanks to the influence of his Pokémon DNA. The Musharna blood running through his veins has completely changed his once-dark hair to a bright shade of pink, which he usually covers with a black beanie when out and about the City in order to minimize the unwanted attention he draws to himself. Dying it is always an option, of course, but that could just as easily give him away if the cashier would put two and two together and realize he’s trying to hide something. In the end, the gijinka decided that it is safer for him to simply throw on a hat and call it a day. Oddly enough, despite the jibes he gets from some others for the color, he does not really mind the shade so much. It’s just that when people start staring and focusing their thoughts at him they become harder to ignore, which can give him a headache when he tries to block them all out...eh-hem, moving on.
As someone who prefers a nocturnal schedule Lyall rarely sees the sun and it shows: his skin is rather pale, and the Rocket can’t seem to remember the last time he was outdoor in the sunlight long enough for him to tan. His facial features are overall unremarkable, though perhaps they would be a little more on the pretty side if his facial expressions were not always stuck on sleepy and/or deadpan, with smiles and scowls being rare occurrences that he saves for special occasions - moments with people who are miraculously close enough for him to call friends and showdowns with Epispect agents respectively. His eyes are a striking golden color, which surprisingly has nothing to do with his modified state - they’ve been that way since his hair was ink black and the only thoughts he heard were his own. Because he serves Team Rocket better as a spy than as fighter he has very few scars on his body, the only major one being a line of teeth marks on his right shoulder where an encounter with a wild Mightyena on the way back from a mission almost ended badly for him.
For someone who looks like he could care less about the world around him, Lyall is actually pretty selective with his clothes. He likes black and white most of all, as evidenced by his favorite outfit: a white hoodie with a jagged black pattern on the hood’s edge that frames his face when he has it up, two thin black stripes on each arm, and a thick stripe at the bottom of the garment, a greyish-green shirt beneath it, black gloves with pink accents and stripes around the wrists, black pants with pink stripes down the sides, and pink and black shoes. Much like revealing his rather embarrassing middle name, he has no problem with his preference of the color pink. Call him girly if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that he can give you Nightmares that just might make you reconsider sleeping ever again. Additionally, he often dons a black beanie in order to cover his hair and keep it in line, though he can occasionally be seen wandering around the Team Rocket base without it.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
★ POSITIVE:
- Loyal: His devotion to Team Rocket is blatant and unmistakable; he would sooner bite his tongue and choke on his own blood than rat them out to Epispect. There’s no question that part of this fierce loyalty is due to fear for its temperamental leader, but there is also a healthy amount of respect in his heart for the guy as well. Team Rocket took him in even when the last of his family more or less abandoned him, gave him a purpose, and showed him that he’ll have somewhere to call home as long as he continues to make himself useful to the boss and stays out of the man in question’s way.
- Calm: Despite the occasional freak-outs that occur when his sensitive issues are poked at, Lyall is good at keeping his head cool when things get tough. What kind of psychic would he be if he kept flipping out and accidentally throwing people into walls when such actions are unnecessary?
- Creative: One of the good things about psychic abilities is that they allow you a lot of flexibility with how you use them. Offense, defense, mind rape....Lyall dabbles in all of it, and enjoys few things more than the feeling he gets when he discovers something that works well. Additionally, he can get pretty creative in a more artistic sense with that dream mist of his, re-sculpting dreams he’s witnessed or eaten in his own way. And then there’s using Nightmare.....
- Patient: Never one to rush into things, Lyall is content to wait for the right opportunity to make his move, no matter how long that might take. This isn’t to say that he’s lazy or inefficient, but rather that he doesn’t get irritated by having sit and watch his targets for a while before moving in.
- Amiable: For someone with an almost permanently deadpan expression, the Musharna gijinka is typically a polite and friendly guy; he’s simply more reserved with the displays of emotion he allows himself. A small quirk of the lips or a twinkle in his eye means as much from him as a full-fledged grin might from someone else. And he sure can crack jokes when he wants to - usually at the expense of his peers. However, how much of this is genuine and how much is him just going with what others want to happen in order to get what he wants from them is debatable.
- Practical: He uses his psychic powers not to show off but because they are effective in many situations. Additionally, while he loathes Epispect and all they stand for, he’s not like some of the trigger-happy members of the team who would bull-headedly try to take the corporation on themselves.
- Humble: Here’s one Rocket whose ego will actually not cause problems with following orders. He knows his place, and he doesn’t brag or try to make himself seem like he’s more important than he really is in the organization. However, how much of this is genuine modestly and how much is a side-effect of his low self-worth is very much up for debate.
★ NEGATIVE:
- Dishonest: Well, he works in intelligence. Lying to others is kind of in his job description. And unlike physically harming others, tricking them does not bother him much unless he has a deep connection to them, which is rare enough in itself. After all, all human beings are dishonest in his eyes, so why should he be any different?
- Hateful: Just because he won’t run off on his own in an attempt to lay siege to Epispect does not mean that he loathes the company any less. Honestly, while he doesn’t like killing people himself, he would have no problem with viciously tearing their minds to shreds. If it wasn’t for them, he’d still be living a blissfully ignorant life with his parents and brother. Now he has none of that, and blames everything bad that’s happened to him since first falling sick with the virus on them.
- Suspicious: When you read people’s minds for a living, you realize how few people’s thoughts match with their actions. That, and the fact that his brother more or less abandoned him after their parents died, has left him with some major - albeit justified - trust issues.
- Low Self-worth: As well a very low self-esteem. Reading the thoughts of the person you trust most and finding out that they resent you and wish you had died the place of another can really mess with one’s sense of self-worth. For Lyall, being part criminal organization where the boss makes no secret of the fact that a low-level guy like him is a dime a dozen and can be replaced at any time if he bungles a mission or displeases the leadership really does not help this. And yet he would still sooner die than leave the organization behind.
- Secretive: Tying in with his the above, because he feels like he really isn’t worth much as a person despite having somewhere to belong, he has a habit of keeping his real thoughts and opinions to himself, except for those regarding Epispect. Nor does he like to reveal things about his past unless it is to one of the few people he really trusts. If he ever speaks up to you about how his brother betrayed him or how lost and alone he felt after his parents died, then you know that he finally trusts you.
- Intrusive: Mentally speaking, the guy has no sense of personal space. He’ll read someone’s mind just for shits and giggles, though he’s more apt to smirk to himself than actually giggle. This habit, first learned out of necessity for survival, can potentially land him in a lot of trouble with those who do not enjoy having their minds prodded by nosy psychics.
- Possessive: Because of his deep trust issues, if he does feel like he can trust someone, he becomes completely and utterly devoted to them to the point of self-sacrifice...and may be prone to out-of-character yandere outbursts if he thinks that they are being threatened in any way. Of course, if such a dear person were to betray him again, he might just snap completely. In a lesser sense, he considers Team Rocket the closest thing to a home he has, and so this also applies to his fellow grunts in weaker sense.
★ HABITS, QUIRKS:
- Enjoys spying on other Rockets’ dreams, especially ones that he can tease them with later using the psychic mist he’s fond of conjuring up.
- Considers himself a pacifist insomuch that he absolutely hates hurting others...physically. Instead, Lyall prefers using his psychic abilities to torture and torment his victims with their own secrets and fears, relying on mental carnage to pry what he needs from someone, be it information or obedience. Even so, he still carries several small throwing knives on his person at most times as they make for good intimidation material.
- He’s almost completely nocturnal, and spends the nights wandering the city immersing himself in the dreams of others - and snooping around for anyone TR wants information on or from. Most days find him sleeping away in his room until just before sundown...or anywhere else in the TR base, really. He’s been found snoozing on couches, counters, and even file cabinets.
- If he had an official role in Team Rocket - aside from mopping and scrubbing the base when it’s dirty - it would be as an interrogator or a spy. His ability to read minds and pull secrets from others heads is his biggest strength in the organization, although he’s too low on the totem pole to put it to proper use just yet.
- When in busy places where the sheer volume of people overwhelms his mind reading abilities with what he calls “surface” thoughts, he dons a pair of headphones and listens to music to drown them out.
- He keeps a dream journal of sorts where he records things he’s seen during his raids on people’s minds both to keep a running tally of things he can use against certain individuals, both for serious and recreational purposes.
★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Lyall, when first meeting him, is rather...difficult to understand, to say the least. With his carefully practiced poker face and stoic manner of speaking, one’s first impression could very well be that he is a calm yet serious individual, and they would be partially right - at least, until the pink-haired gijinka ruined that impression by spouting off some ridiculous nonsense without ever breaking his monotone or giving even a twitch of a smile to indicate that he was joking. An adept liar and something of a troll, he enjoys teasing his comrades in arms in his own subtle ways, although many tend to write him off as naught but a weirdo after witnessing such behavior. Some consider him a nutcase, others only a minor annoyance, but for all his strange habits - including his tendency to seize the Team Rocket kitchen for his own designs every now and then - he still manages to stay in the organization for two reasons: for one, despite his occasional teasing, he knows better than to cross the leader. The other is a bit more obvious: his psychic abilities that make him useful for a variety of jobs ranging from cleaning the base (oddly enough, he took this position on himself as he hates the feeling of blood under his shoes and while he knows better than to try and clean the boss’s office, he can often be found mopping the floors while not out on official business) to interrogation and intimidation.
Some people might think that being able to read the minds of others would endanger the health one’s own, and in Lyall’s case they would be correct. Being able to prod into the thoughts that others try to keep hidden has left him with some serious trust issues after realizing how few people actually mean what they say. Admittedly, while he does genuinely enjoy a good trolling session, much of his oddball persona is in fact fabricated to push others away and, failing that, keep them guessing so that they have no way of telling what he is actually thinking or feeling. Being privy to the thoughts of others has made him extremely wary of others finding out his, and he has no qualms about being dishonest right back toward them to feel secure. That said, he is not completely dishonest with everyone he meets, and he is far more likely to let little bits of the truth slip through when dealing with someone who does not attempt to disguise their true thoughts with verbal lies. In fact, it is the leader’s honesty - along with a healthy dose of fear - that keeps him loyal to the Rockets. When he was younger and still stinging from the death of his parents and his brother’s abandonment, he joined the main group simply for the sake of having allies who also sought to raze Epispect to the ground, but it was only after actually witnessing their leader first hand that he truly felt a sense of loyalty to the criminal organization. Oliver is a harsh man, but he is an honest one if nothing else; he did not cloak his viciousness behind fake words and promises of camaraderie or attempt to hide that his members are easily-replaced pawns, and that those who invoke his wrath or fail the group have no place there...or in this life, for that matter. And while such blatant disregard for his underlings might have scared others away, Lyall found such brutal honesty refreshing and worth working under. If there is anyone who can destroy the company he so despises, Lyall is convinced that Oliver is that man, and he decided back when he joined that he would follow him to the grave - whether conflict or Oliver himself put him in it.
Despite his eagerness to see Epispect fall, Lyall is actually a very patient person and not one to rush into things without stopping to think things through despite his apparently spontaneous actions. He is a deeper thinker than he lets on, and prefers to have some idea of what he is doing before jumping into action. However, he is still creative and calm enough in tense situations to adapt as needed to fight back and survive. The ability to use one's powers differently as the situation demands is one of the perks of being a psychic-type, and he would be lying if he said he did not enjoy finding new ways to utilize them. Bringing Nightmares to others will always remain his favorite method of operation, but at the same time it is interesting to test the other ways that he can terrify or bluff someone into submission.
As previously stated, Lyall is a bit of a pessimist when it comes to interacting with others, expecting them to lie and cheat him. But it is not only humans in general he accepts as scum; he also has quite a bit of self-disgust seething away underneath that calm face he’s always putting on. When he fails, he takes it extremely hard, and can disappear for days even if whatever he did is not enough to warrant a possible execution. During that time he can usually be found lurking around the site in the Abandoned Sector where his parents are buried, either reminiscing about the old days or causing as much property damage as possible - not that everything in that area isn’t already wrecked. For all his patience in dealing with others he has very little when faced with his own shortcomings, especially after his brother called him out on it rather harshly in the past. In his mind, every single bungled mission is just more proof that he was right, and it haunts him to this day - just like the thought that if he weren’t such a Arceus-damned coward he probably could’ve saved his parents before the hunter got to them.
For all his quirks and shortcomings, Lyall can be a good friend if you can actually get him to trust you. He is a good listener, for one thing, and with all his odd habits he really has no reason or desire to laugh at anyone over their own problems. He also believes doing everything he can to protect those he has grown close to; he already lost his family once, and if friends are a similar concept, then he absolutely refuses to let it happen again. This can lead to some possessive and clingy behavior on his part, and he would gladly rip someone’s mind to shreds for daring to harm someone important to him. In a lesser sense he also “cares” about his Team Rocket comrades, though that is more because he is used to the organization as it is and would rather not see them disappearing on him than because he actually likes many of his fellow criminals. For one thing, they need manpower in order to challenge Epispect, and for another if someone runs out rashly and gets killed in their recklessness then the rest of the group has to pick up their slack until a replacement appears. That may be part of why he “liberated” an Audino from a center worker recently: even if this one is low-levelled and isn’t much use yet, they’re still useful for helping to treat injuries.
