It was time for him to start his search for a team and to become a pokemon master. He was ten years old and just starting off, but he would pull it off, no matter how many times he stayed 10! Wait, no, wrong character, Costin wasn't that devoted to being a trainer or anything, he just wanted a little team all to his own. and here he was looking for what could possibly interest him. He wanted a wide range of diversity, but would probably be wary of electric types for a bit. If they go into a little fight, he'd be on the receiving end of a thunderbolt or something, that would just be painful.
So, here he was right now, with nothing other than his own sexy self, and a couple of eggs on his back. Which were well protected even if he had a battle, that was the one thing he made sure of for this little excursion. The backpack the eggs were in was well built and durable, so he could let loose on a couple pokemon and the whole shtick. "Here little pokemon~, uncle Costin won't hurt ya~," he cooed to whatever little critters might be hiding in the woodwork so to speak. Not that there were a lot of place to hide, but that didn't matter.
"Come on, let's gather a team, so I can get back to the good stuff," his mind drifted to all the lovely ladies waiting back in the city. His eyes sparkling with that hint of mischief and happy daydreaming. Oh, how he enjoyed the simple things in life.

WILD LARVESTA APPEARED! [/style] Larvesta || Female || Flame Body || Bug/Fire || Level 4 Ember || String Shot For a group of Pokémon that historically dwelled at the base of volcanoes, the Wastelands was about as close to their ancestral homes as Larvesta could get these days. Cut off from the rest of the world as they were by the mountains and the sea surrounding the area around Aether City, there was absolutely no way for creatures such as themselves to journey off to find an actual volcano - unless, of course, one had the rare luck to live long enough to achieve evolution, which was a difficult feat. Dwelling in the heated environment here might have been a far cry from their natural habitat, but at least it was warm enough for them to survive there without too many problems, and even if the air did cool from time to time there were plenty of ways for them to regulate their temperatures to keep their fire within going strong.
One such method to keep their bodies warm and their fires ready for battle was to lay out in the sun, which was precisely what one Larvesta in particular was up to when she heard the approaching footsteps of a wandering human. She was awake in no time flat, blue eyes snapping open as soon as she could discern the sound, her senses finely tuned to pick up any possible threats. There was not much her kind was downright weak to, but both flying-types and the even more dreaded rock-types were known to appear here from time to time. You had to stay aware if you wanted to stay alive out here, and she was not about to be caught off-guard by any wanderers, human or otherwise. The fluffy moth carefully rolled off the rock she’d been sunning herself on, narrowing her eyes at the nearing traveler, his red hair standing out like a beacon. He seemed to be...calling out to the nearby Pokémon? The dual-type snorted at that, surprised to see such recklessness in a place like this. Did he not realize how dangerous the wild creatures out here could be? She herself might not be particularly territorial, but there were plenty of others in this dusty desert that would not tolerate intruders stomping through what they considered their land.
Curiosity prodded at the Larvesta’s thoughts, leaving her to wonder what would become of this human if something found him. Being nosy was not a good way to ensure your survival, but she couldn’t help but wonder what this man was up to. He seemed pretty confident, but did he have the strength to back it up if something really did attack him? Cautiously, the Larvesta approached the trainer, striving to remain below the man’s notice while wondering whether she should give him a little test or not, just to see if he really had the strength to back up that cocky attitude of his.

Scanning around the wasteland, it was a bit harder to spot things with one eye. That was compensated by his other senses at least, especially taking into account his DNA factor. His senses alerted him to something nearby and he looked around slowly, trying to notice any out of place details. It was then that he spotted the little larvesta that was coming on him, sneakily. This would be a good opportunity for some battle experience for his little guys.
"Alright, first round, let's go Daniko!" he said, tossing the pokeball up, as the ball opened, revealing the egg pokemon. "Toge, To," it squeaked out, as it turned to see what it was doing out here. It looked to Costin with a shrug, who rubbed his head, the togepi didn't quite have the advantage of limited eyesight to help his other senses. Pointing it out to the Togepi, he watched as the thing clambered its way around to find its opponent.
"Togepi!" it shouted as it reached the top of a rock, acting like it was the kind of the world.

WILD LARVESTA APPEARED! [/style] Larvesta || Female || Flame Body || Bug/Fire || Level 4 Ember || String Shot Ah, so this overconfident fellow does have some Pokémon with him after all, the Larvesta thought to herself as she watched the redhead send out his Togepi. Well, that was definitely an odd choice to go with in such a dangerous place. Was this yet more overconfidence on the Feraligatr gijinka’s part, then, or was this little guy more dangerous than he first appeared? Baby Pokémon seldom appeared threatening, but then again, there might be something to this one that she had not seen before if the trainer had sent him out upon noticing her; silently, she noted that she needed to work on her stealth if he had caught on to her so soon, unaware that it was the other’s heightened senses that allowed him to pick her up so quickly. Oddly enough, it seemed that the Togepi was having a difficult time figuring out just where she was hiding, and the Larvesta had to suppress another snort - this time of laughter - as the child played on the nearby rocks while searching for her. She herself was still young, but having to survive out here left her very little time to actually act like a hatchling, so seeing the other creature enjoying himself was rather amusing to the dual-type.
Shaking her head, she quickly dismissed the laughter threatening to escape her, deciding to go ahead with her little “test” while she had such a good opening. Quietly, so as not to tip the Togepi off, she crawled closer to where he was standing as “King of the World” and shot a String Shot at the little guy, aiming to catch “His Highness” by surprise with the sticky, silky thread.

Costin had to laugh at the antics of his little togepi, it was funny to watch him act like such a goofy thing. However, when the pokemon finally made its move, Togepi was startled getting caught with the string shot. It wasn't that fast to begin with, but this certainly wouldn't help matters, as it was covered with the strange web-like substance.
"Alright, Togepi, metronome!" not like there were a whole lot of other options for it to use really. However, the little egg-shaped pokemon, wagged his fingers back and forth. The energy gathering around the togepi was that of a fighting type, however, the move was not one Costin would like either.
The togepi charged all of his energy into the attack, and threw itself at the Larvesta. Using the Final Gambit skill, it sacrificed all its health to launch this attack that would inflict the same amount of hp put in as damage. Though, would cause an immediate fainting of the Togepi.

WILD LARVESTA APPEARED! [/style] Larvesta || Female || Flame Body || Bug/Fire || Level 4 Ember || String Shot The Larvesta couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed at how easily she lassoed the Togepi, but was the point not to capture the baby Pokémon to see how he would react? And just like that the little king became a little captive, his tiny egg-shaped body wrapped up snugly in her restricting technique. All that was left to do now was hit the trapped normal-type with an actual attack and see if he could take it, the dual-type reasoned with a light tug on the sticky thread, but before she could open her mouth to shoot a jet of weak flames at the Togepi a flicker of movement caught her eye. What in the world is he up to? She thought, peering closer at her victim with narrowed eyes in an attempt to see what he was doing. What she saw was that her string had missed the youngster’s arms completely, allowing him to wiggle his stubby little arms around for some reason, perhaps trying to break the rest of his body loose?
No, the Larvesta thought as she watched fighting-type energy gather around the Togepi’s body, realization suddenly dawning on her that this was an attack, but it was too late for her to break loose and run for cover now. All she could do was watch in shock as the energy from the Final Gambit attack exploded outward, completely tearing through her body at the expense of the user’s health. The force of the attack sent the bug flying, her String Shot disintegrating as her body hit the ground hard, the force of the impact raising a small, puffy cloud of dust in the dry air. Her body twitched feebly in the dirt, but there was no questioning that the dual-type was down for the count immediately and unlikely to rise any time soon. In the end, her predictable lifestyle could not hope to prepare the creature for a random move like Metronome, and now the Larvesta was paying the price for it.
WILD LARVESTA FAINTED! IT CAN NOW BE CAUGHT! TOGEPI GAINED ONE LEVEL FOR WINNING!
[/b][/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify] WILD PORYGON APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Porygon || Genderless || Trace || Normal || Level 7 Conversion 2 || Tackle || Conversion || Sharpen || Psybeam Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
A series of faint alarms split the air as a rusted bit of machinery nearly entirely submerged in the Wastelands’ piled-up dirt slowly stirred and awoke after Arceus-knew how long it had been abandoned there by the humans who abandoned the area when it became obvious that sustaining farmland out here was no longer possible. This particular piece of equipment - a fair-sized computer with a dead screen but a faintly blinking camera lens just barely visible through layers of accumulated dirt and grime - had once been the “brain” of a network of digitally-run farm machinery long ago thanks to the creature that slept inside but after its owners decided to cut their losses and move to a more hospitable area it had been reduced to what amounted to a heap of scrap metal.
At least, that had been the case until the being inside felt the sensor pick up a human presence nearby for the first time in decades, causing it to stir and awaken. Curious, the digital Pokémon ran a quick calculation on whether it would be more beneficial to return to sleep mode for a few more years or venture outside to investigate the human signature, and found that it would most likely be detrimental to its health if it left the safety of the computer. However, after years and years of abandonment, the Porygon knew that it had developed a strange defect in its system, a longing for contact with the human beings it was programmed to serve that was far stronger that it should be. One might almost say that it felt lonely, if not for the fact it was a man made construct and therefore supposedly incapable of such emotions. Still, it found itself unable to shake the feeling, and with a flash of bright light the normal-type left the computer behind, materializing on the ground of the Wasteland. The creature was immediately taken aback by how the area around it had changed since it last viewed its surroundings directly. When its masters had left, the area was just beginning its transition into desert; now, all that met its eyes was a vast expanse of dry, cracked earth, dust, and rock. That, and a red-haired human nearby what appeared to be two unconscious Pokémon - presumably, one belonged to him, and the other was a denizen of this changed world. Blinking against the sunlight that stung the sentient program’s eyes after so long spent in its data-state, the Porygon approached the scene, a curiosity that had no place in his programming driving the shiny onward.

There was a long bit of silence from Costin was he saw the scene and rubbed his head. "Ya know, that attack is not as great as people have tried to make it sound," he stated. Sighing he walked over to the Togepi, and rubbed its head, "You did good little guy." With that, he retracted the pokemon into its poke ball, and looked at the down Larvesta. "Sorry 'bout that, didn't mean to be so rough," he bowed his head, before making a bit of shelter for the bug type to recover inside.
"There should help keep the thing safe while it rests," he stated, dusting his hands lightly. He looked up to see a strange pokemon coming towards him, and with not knowing its intentions, he put the Togepi's ball back on his belt, taking the one that had the Electrike. It wouldn't be caught off-guard if this thing decided it wanted to get revenge. Not that he could say anything against it, but hey, he wasn't going to let himself be defenseless against attack.

WILD PORYGON APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Porygon || Genderless || Trace || Normal || Level 7 Conversion 2 || Tackle || Conversion || Sharpen || Psybeam If the Porygon had been curious by the human’s appearance before, now it was downright baffled after witnessing his act of kindness toward a wild Pokémon his own had defeated. Had the data construct been sleeping so long that humans had completely changed in their attitudes now? It knew that its former masters had cared and looked after their cattle Pokémon - their herds of Miltank and Tauros - but it had been largely ignored and left to its own devices. Then again, with a body that had problems conveying emotion to others and a very weak understanding of what it meant to be lonely, how could they know that the creature felt neglected? Especially when the creature itself hardly knew what it was feeling in the first place.
Moving jerkily - its programming had never been upgraded to include smoother movements - the shiny wandered closer to the redhead, eyes staring as it tried to process the one-eyed man’s behavior. It was only after he completed the makeshift shelter that the Feraligatr removed a second Pokéball from his belt, the sight forcing the Porygon to a halt. Perhaps the data entity was mistaken and this man truly was a foe? Or perhaps he had determined that the normal-type was the thread here? Either way, the Porygon came to an instant stop in its tracks, watching the Pokéball in Costin’s hand with a bland expression that revealed none of its confusion. Why was it so different from ordinary Pokémon in the eyes of humans? What made it so strange and alien to them? Perhaps they could somehow see its faulty programming, and that made it somehow repulsive to them. If so, it would be a prudent course of action for it to prepare itself for combat, just in case the man didn’t back off.
The normal-type’s many-faceted skin seemed to shimmer in the light, the angels of its body glowing at the edges as it Sharpened itself in preparation for self-defense maneuvers. Just because this was the first human - the only other sentient being, really - that it had come into contact with after countless years alone in sleep mode did not mean that the creature was going to be caught off-guard if the gijinka decided to unleash whatever rested in that Pokéball on it.
