Ground and Flying type. Not good new for him, and Arthur growled at the little screen in denial before shoving the Pokedex back into his pocket. His irrition increased by a factor of ten at the man's response, as apparently he'd already won. Before he could respond with something equally as likely to anger the other man, the Gligar was on the attack again.
Instead of dodging the Psyshock, the Gligar had flown straight through it, enduring the pain and taking the injury in order to throw another spray of poisoned needles at Abra. At that range, there was no time for even Abra to Teleport out of the way. The stinging needles struck the Psychic full on, and Abra could only raise both arms to cover his face until they had all either hit him, or buried themselves into the ground by his feet.
Sure that if Abra were seriously injured, his Starter would give him notice through their link, Arthur ordered him on the full offensive. "Don't let it get away! Hit it with everything but Charge Beam!" The only other attacks Abra knew would both be equally as effective as far as he knew. In quick succession, Abra lifted his hands and made a circle shape with his claws. Within the empty space between his palms, the dark mass of a SHADOW BALL appeared, and began to spin rapidly before leaping toward the Gligar. Not wasting a second, Abra then flung one hand out after it, and the familiar three spheres of a PSYSHOCK followed along.
"Please!" Arthur quickly shot back over his shoulder as Abra began his combo. "You got a Lillipup, I got a Gligar. I think we know who's opponent is stronger." His eyes widened in surprise at the Scyther that struck out at Zangoose from nowhere. He half turned away from his own battle to watch before remembering himself, and added just as quickly, "If you can defeat that Scyther just as fast, then I'll be impressed!" It would also serve as a nice distraction for the other mouthy male. He seemed to have forgotten that the contest was as to who could catch a Pokemon first. Not defeat it.

WILD GLIGAR APPEARED! [/style] Gligar || Male || Hyper Cutter || Ground/Flying || Level 8 Poison Sting || Sand Attack The problem with charging through the Abra’s attack - other than the whole expose self to excruciating pain bit - was that while it succeeded in catching the Abra before he had time to run away it also meant that the Gligar was in the same boat. At such a close proximity to his foe, there was no time for him to glide out of the way when the Abra’s trainer relayed his instructions to his partner. For a split second he was left to wonder what the psychic-type might do but unable to retreat, then it hit him quite literally in the form of a swirling vortex of ghostly energy - the aptly named Shadow Ball. The Gligar screeched, thrashing against the pain, but all of his struggles were futile at this point as the technique ripped through him, followed up by another one of those smarting Psyshocks that the Abra was so fond of. He tried to grit his teeth and bear it like the last time, but it was impossible as the pain was simply too intense. The dual flying and ground type gave one last screeching hiss of agony as it dropped to the ground as if made of lead, hitting the grassy turf with a loud thud.
For one last desperate moment, the Gligar tried to focus enough to make himself rise, but his whole body felt like it was made of stone and his vision was rapidly declining and growing fuzzy. How had this turned out so wrong? He was just looking for a laugh at first, but then it turned into a serious battle, and in the end he was no match for the Abra’s superior abilities. I’m not...I’m not going down that easily. The scorpion-like creature thought weakly, wrapping his claw around a stone he spotted protruding out of the ground in front of his face. The weakened Pokémon tried to yank himself up using it but he only made it halfway to his feet before he slumped over in a definite faint, the stars above fading into darkness while the ground beneath him roared.
GLIGAR FAINTED! IT CAN NOW BE CAPTURED! ABRA GAINED TWO LEVELS FOR WINNING!
WILD ONIX APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Onix || Female || Sturdy || Rock/Ground || Level 11 Mud Sport || Tackle || Harden || Bind || Screech || Rock Throw It was almost funny how quickly a situation could change - things coming together and falling apart in the blink of an eye. One moment the Gligar was crashing to the ground, the Abra victorious in his battle, and the next a branching network of spiderweb cracks branched out from around the stone the Gligar grabbed while a muffled roar filled the air. The ground trembled and heaved before it finally burst open with a shower of grass, soil, and rock. A towering serpent of pyrite-colored boulders shot through the new hole’s gaping mouth, Screeching angrily at the nearest Pokémon she could find and place the blame on for disturbing her slumber. Which, as her flashy entrance flung the unconscious Gligar back to land a stretch aways, was Arthur’s trusty Abra. This park gardener’s nightmare was a well hidden denizen of this corner of the park: a mysterious unseen force that burrowed deep underground during the day and slumbered peacefully just beneath the surface at night...or, at least, that was how the Shiny usually went about her business. Thanks to the Gligar’s disturbance, however, she was now very much awake and furious about that fact - which she voiced by pulling several rocks from the tunnel with her tail to pitch at the Abra in a Rock Throw attack, hurling the stone spheres at her tinier foe without mercy. That would teach him not to disturb her slumber! And after she was done with him, she would turn her attention to the Scyther and Zangoose she spotted fighting nearby and teach them a much-needed lesson in courtesy as well. Did they not know that it was nighttime and some Pokémon were trying to sleep?!
[/size] WILD SCYTHER APPEARED! [/style] Scyther || Male || Swarm || Bug/Flying || Level 7 Vacuum Wave || Quick Attack || Leer || Focus Energy The Scyther grinned at the Leer Feral shot him at her trainer’s direction - or was he just anticipating what she would have done anyway? - before crossing his scythe-like arms in front of himself when the mongoose like Pokémon launched at him in a Quick Attack. It dulled the pain, but not by much; it was more to brace himself to keep from falling over and leaving himself vulnerable than to deflect damage. Still, he knew now that this Zangoose was definitely a tough foe, which filled him with violent glee. Yes, get mad at him, turn into a maelstrom of whirling claws and fury! Facing anything less than that would be too little to truly test his limits and prove himself.
After taking the blow the bug-type shoved the normal-type off of him and jumped into the air, scythe-edges glowing bright white before he hurled himself back at his foe, slicing at her with a Vacuum Wave attack. Ordinarily a punch would do just fine for such a move, but his kind were gifted with natural weaponry that was far superior to a simple fist. He was going to enjoy slicing her to pieces, but not before he enjoyed their fight to its fullest. That weird colored Onix Screeching her head off in the background? That meant nothing to him. Right now, his entire focus was on his own bout - though perhaps he could teach the rock snake who was the real threat around here after he got rid of the Zangoose and her weakling of a human.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background, i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae329/Stick26/brown-1-1.jpg] It seemed that the other guy was getting desperate in his fight against the menace that had started this whole thing, but that wasn’t Shu’s problem. No, he had to handle the insect that was fighting his Zangoose, which was a lot more interesting. Of course, he had forgotten that there was a Lillipup at his feet, but after moving in the excitement he remembered that it was there so he pulled out a Poke Ball and dropped it on the dog Pokémon (forgot to do that before…). While that was being done, the Scyther seemed to take advantage and hit Zangoose with a Vacuum Wave, which only worked because Feral had got momentarily distracted by the whining Onix.
“Zangoose.” It was a good thing that there was no baby Pokémon around as what Feral said was not a nice nickname for the Scyther. It was time to lash out at it with some serious fury, and there was nothing worse than a woman scorned even if the woman in this case was a Pokémon. Her claws were extended as she stared down the insect Pokémon, and now she waited for the order to attack to come from Shu who was trying to figure out the best course of action. Then the strategy that was best for this situation. “Feral, use Quick Attack and then Scratch to dice that insect up bug!” That would show that guy who was stronger.
Feral burst forward at the Scyther with amazing speed and then did a zigzag pattern before leaping up into a front flip to hit the bug’s midsection with her feet. Then she would begin to lash out with the claws on her right hand. Hopefully, this would lead to some serious damage to the Scyther’s body, but only time would tell if she was successful.

Arthur was allowed neither a second to congratulate himself and Abra, throw a readied Pokeball, or brag his success to the other an who'd challenged him to a new kind of battle in the first place. The Gligar had slumped to the ground, but before the blonde could do any of those things, the earth buckled, and then EXPLODED outward, creating a fountain of grass and dirt and stone shards that Arthur found himself standing beneath and getting cut up for it.
No. That girlish shriek did NOT come from him. It was the Onix! Keep talking about it and he'd plant snake Pokemon in your bed.
Speaking of snake Pokemon... an Onix became visible through the dust cloud and water in his irritated eyes. It was hardly able to hide itelf for very long, being so unfathomably large. He'd never seen a Pokemon it's size before. Arceus! Arthur's chin slowly rose as he lifted his eyes to follow the great beast's head, and dirt and bits of stone fell from his hair and shoulders.
"Oh fuck." THAT THING, had been hiding under the park?! How did people not notice this?! Arthur turned his eyes wildly to the left and right, wondering if perhaps he was the only one able to see it now. How could it just be overlooked?! Gods! If they wanted people to stay out of the park at night, a sign up front such as 'BEWARE OF ONIX' was going to do far better than the one they had when it wasn't vandalized, with hours of opening and closing.
Arthur began to back away before he realized his feet were moving. Away from the new hole in the ground- were they going to get blamed for that?- and the giant swaying form of the angered Rock and Ground type. One hand moved blinded behind his back as his eyes remained locked on the serpent, looking for the body of the other man. "Uh dude?" His voice was still a little high. "I-" He cleared his throat. "I think," Yeah that was far more manly. "We should, maybe, you know, r-"
Nope! The Onix hadn't noticed them, but it HAD noticed the bent form of little Abra, claws placed over his ears in response to the angry Screeching. The tail whiped back and circled a group of rocks, and Arthur yelped in realization, Teleport! TELEPORT!" Well there wasn't any running now. Rocks were flung at the little Psychic as a genuinely worried Trainer watched from the side, and then felt relief as a bright white light flared before the stones hit and then again on the Onix's other side, out of it's line of sight. TELEPORT had succeeded. Now attack! Anything but electric!" He needed a Water-type.
A spinning orb of shadow exploded from Abra's position at the Onix. SHADOW BALL.
~Eevee Egg ~ HATCHED!!!!! But I'm not gonna put that in this thread, as it seems a very inopportune time for an Eevee to be hatching, in his Trainer's arms while an Onix bears down on them.
Also. I'd really like to catch this Onix. Not sure what to do about Stick though.

WILD ONIX APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Onix || Female || Sturdy || Rock/Ground || Level 11 Mud Sport || Tackle || Harden || Bind || Screech || Rock Throw At the very least, Arthur could take comfort in that the Onix paid no attention to his womanly shriek as she was too busy peering through the rubble left in the wake of her Rock Throw, hoping to see the refreshing sight of a little yellow body pinned beneath one of the boulders only to release a rumbling growl of renewed frustration when all she saw naught but fragmented bits of rock and no Abra in sight. It must have dodged out of the way at the last moment, the rock snake realized as she turned her massive head to and fro frantically in search of the fox-faced psychic-type. Her massive size was a real disadvantage in this, as her towering body coupled with its living-rock composition made it difficult to maneuver around to more effectively search for her quicker and smaller foe. So it was that when the pyrite-colored creature finally found the Abra, it was only thanks to the psychic’s next attack, the swiftly pitched Shadow Ball catching her on the back of her neck with an explosion of pulsating purple shadows.
The Onix let out a roaring hiss of pain, thrashing her stony body around in an attempt to cope with the ghostly “burn” the attack left in its wake for as tough as her stone skin was, it did little to block special attacks. With fury written across her huge face - ROYALLY PISSED OFF might as well have been scribbled across her forehead with how livid she was - she swiveled around to glare at her attacker before whipping her tail out at the creature, intending to curl around him in a slowly crushing Bind that would hopefully keep him from running away again. It was a cruel thing to do but he clearly deserved it for not taking the opportunity to flee with his trainer after she’d attacked the first time as he so obviously could have. Or at least that was what her tired logic told her - normally, with a full night’s undisturbed sleep she could be both intelligent and downright civil, but being so rudely awoken before she was fully rested never failed to send the odd-colored dual-type flying into a screeching, boulder-tossing rage.
OOC: I'm just going to leave the Scyther out of this for the moment, unless you decide you want him as well. And I'm sorry that you're only getting this crappy post after I took so long. DX I'mafail.

Confidence only went so far, despite the, some would say, overabundance that Arthur was born with. It saw him through quite a lot in his life. It did falter however, when faced with a giant mutant Onix. But he dared anyone not to feel a moment's doubt, that closed to an giant angry rock snake, screeching fit to make his ears bleed and slinging large rocks around like they were nothing.
The sound the beast made when struck by little Abra's shadow bolt made him flinch and draw back another step. He was sure Abra was more than quick enough to dodge any sudden flailing blows from something that big, but he was just a human, and needed that little extra space that, if he was measuring right, put him out of tail's reach. "Alright... alright." Green eyes, even darker than usual with no light but the moon above, flicked back and forth across the field of battle. Maybe... if they moved the fight into the trees? More places for Abra to hide... Damnit! He'd never fought something that big before!
A mental 'prod' touched his consciousness, one Arthur recognized immediately as Abra's, who was probably just as confused as to his thought process as the Trainer himself was. The blonde swallowed, and forced himself into action, "Okay Abra, try a Psyshock-" It was so sudden that Arthur's mouth hung open. The fox-like Psychic found itself bound in the coiling tail of the Onix before he could move, and though he didn't make a sound aloud, alarm blazed down the mental link with his Trainer, making Arthur flinch a second time.
"Fight free quick! You can't miss at that range!" He hoped...
Abra reacted imemdiately, willing to do anything that would get him free quickly. His wiggling hand managed to get one arm free at least, and he tilted his head up at the Onix before taking aim and tossing a frantic, full-powered PSYSHOCK at the nearby, very easily targeted, rocky head. The second he released, he began to gather power for a TELEPORT.
~Notes: You decide if that Teleport works. I don't like to over use it to dodge, but I can't see a reason that a Pokemon with Teleport WOULDN'T use it to escape a Bind attack. o.O So it's completely up to you, Mod. :)

WILD ONIX APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Onix || Female || Sturdy || Rock/Ground || Level 11 Mud Sport || Tackle || Harden || Bind || Screech || Rock Throw A victorious hiss left the Onix’s rocky lips as she squeezed her tail ever tighter around the Abra’s small, soft body. She had to be careful not to squeeze him too much, though, or he might just pass out before he actually learned his lesson about being so loud in the middle of the night...never mind that the fox-faced psychic was the one making the least amount of noise at the moment, communicating only through his psychic link with his trainer. She was too enraged to care, still stinging from the other Pokémon’s Shadow Ball and more than willing to use him as an outlet for her sleep deprivation-fueled ire. The yellow boulders of her tail constricted tightly around the much smaller creature’s body as she wriggled and shifted her massive body so that she could foolishly bring the Abra even closer to her face in order to glare at him, trying to decide whether she should continue to crush the little pest until he fainted in her grip or perhaps toss him away so that she could pitch a few more rocks at him, filling the air with enough that at least one had to smash his little body beneath it even with his constant teleporting.
Lost in her vengeful thoughts and, admittedly, still only half awake, the Onix failed to realize that the sudden squirming in her grip was anything but futile struggling, neglecting to take into account that this was a psychic she was dealing with and simply restraining his body would do little to handicap his ability to fight, especially when he worked one arm free from her stony coils and blazed with bright psychic energy. The rock-type screamed first in alarm from the sudden, bright light in her face, before the attack hit home square in her face and twisted her startled cry into one of pain, her whole body writhing blindly as she tried to blink the burn away. Fortunately for the rock snake, the Psyshock was hardly as damaging as the Shadow Ball before it despite scoring a point-blank hit and she shook off the psychic blow quickly, although when she opened her eyes once more her vision was unquestionably blurry - the world before her nose hazy enough that when she rammed her head down in a furious Tackle at the Abra in her grasp she could not tell that the little psychic had already Teleported to freedom.
A frustrated growl rumbled in her throat as her forehead bounced more or less harmlessly off her own tail, annoyed at the lack of flesh crushing beneath it. That damn creature had escaped again! Her body swayed and trembled in anger as she twisted every which way, seeking out her vanished foe, but it was to no avail. The rage burning away at her tired mind spiked once more as the dual-type turned her massive head skyward, letting out a frustrated scream at the night sky that was sure to awaken anything in the nearby area that her screeching had not already disturbed.

Did he have anything that could go head to head with an Onix and hope to wear down that stone? Arthur didn't know. And he was afraid to spend too much time in his own head thinking about it as his determined gaze focused on his struggling Abra and he tried to will more power to the little guy. All it took was the bit green snake to glance in his direction and see him distracted for just a second, and it might spell the end for him.
Although... Abra seemed to be doing a marvelous job of keeping it distracted. The Psyshock hit, of course, and while it didn't seem to do a lot of damage by itself, it did make the Onix miss the fact that right after throwing the attack, Abra had Teleported out of the Bind attack... And then the Onix bashed it's own head against itself in a failed attempt at a Tackle.
Arthur couldn't help it. Despite the danger, for both himself and his Pokemon, he had to laugh at the sight of such a thing. That laughter became a croak as the Rock-type's shriek of fury felt like knives cutting through his ears to his brain due to his close position. Ground zero, as it were. "Oh son of a bitch!" Arthur cursed loudly, stumbling backward instinctually, and noticed that Abra had flashed back into the fight, again out of the Onix's eyesight.
The little fox-like Pokemon looked tired. Too many Teleports made in the heat of battle, as well as the use of actual attacks, chopped away at the Psychic's energy, and the physical damage wasn't helping either. Abra swayed, but managed to stay upright and throw out another SHADOW BALL attack. Right after the mass of shadow left him, Abra knelt to one knee tiredly, knowing that it'd leave him open, but also knowing he needed whatever break he could manage to take if he wanted to keep battling usefully.
Arthur watched from the sideline, and fingered the empty Pokeball that belonged to his first ever Pokemon. Abra knew his thoughts, and denial poured through their mental link as the Psychic made it clear that he wouldn't be returning until he was fully unconscious.
The blonde sighed in irritation, but felt a twinge of pride. "Fine! ...Fine."
~Notes: Bleh. This feels like a kinda crappy post.

WILD ONIX APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Onix || Female || Sturdy || Rock/Ground || Level 11 Mud Sport || Tackle || Harden || Bind || Screech || Rock Throw Somehow, despite the sheer amount of racket she was causing between her pointless flailing and furious screeching, the Onix was able to pick up on one particular sound that only increased her rage, while giving her a new target to focus her anger on: the previously ignored human, who had the audacity to laugh at her pain on top of causing part of the racket that woke her up in the first place. Well, with the Abra out of sight - again - and her body in pain both from his continued barrages as well as her own mistake, she decided that it was high time she took out the actual one responsible. Her scream tuned itself down into a low hiss, quieter yet no less angry than before, and the enormous snake tensed as she prepared to lunge at the tiny trainer with a skeleton-crushing Tackle attack.
Luckily for Arthur, she never got the chance to spring forward, as a second whirling sphere of dark, ghostly energy struck her off-colored skin sharply, eliciting another shriek of pain from the shiny. This one hurt far more than the first, and certainly more than the Psyshock, and she suddenly realized that in her fatigue she had failed to realize how injured she truly was from the psychic-type’s attacks. Every boulder of her body shook as she rose herself up to her full height, trying to shake off the dizziness that spoke of oncoming oblivion, but it was too late. Her mighty form shook once, then twice before she dropped down to the earth, hitting the once well-manicured grass with ground shaking force. There she lay, twitching weakly against the churned-up earth, riding out the pain from the Shadow Ball as her consciousness faded piece by piece. If nothing else, at least she was now “asleep” once more, though such agony-induced slumber could hardly be called a good night’s rest. At least both the Abra and his trainer would hopefully be able to get some rest of their own now that their foe was soundly beaten and out of the way.
WILD ONIX FAINTED! IT CAN NOW BE CAUGHT! ABRA GAINED TWO LEVELS FOR WINNING! OOC: If you thought your post was crappy, take a look at this one. XD I'm sorry, I wish it being four in the morning was a good excuse, but I really have none.

And it finally happened, as Arthur always knew it might, if he stayed within sight of the great greenish beast. But he was not a coward. He was a Trainer. And he would not leave Abra behind to fight the Onix alone. Nor would, he thought now, run from it. It had finally happened.
The Onix spotted him.
Looking into those great, furious eyes, no longer even slightly lidded with weariness after having been woken from her sleep beneath the park, Arthur felt a rising tide of horror. It was physical, starting in his stomach, and froze him in place helplessly. He'd run into dangerous Pokemon before. Very dangerous ones. He hadn't feared then. But there were Pokemon like wild Pinsir, who might break a leg or two, and then there were Pokemon like that Onix, who'd grind him into paste with a disgusting ease. Abra couldn't possibly summon the energy needed for the two, super-fast Teleports that were the only thing that could save him then.
Inside, Arthur felt an all new level of fear. Outside, he managed a sickly-pale smile, staring up at the giant, as if it might actually convince her not to crush him like a Durant. "Crap." Who knew a night at the park could end so disastrously?
Why wasn't his life passing before his eyes? It had been very exciting. He'd have liked to relive it all once again if it was the end.
The Onix drew back...
And Abra's Shadow Ball exploded against her stony skin, forcibly removing her attention from the boy. As she shook in agony and lack of energy, an great sigh of relief burst from Arthur's lips, and he bent at the waist with a shaky laugh to put his hands on his knees. She was done for, he realized. And he imagined, so was she. When she did fall, Arthur stumbled as the ground shook beneath his feet. When it stopped, leaving the Onix unconscious on the ground, absolutely still in her sleep as her body would not rise and fall with her breathing, Arthur laughed again. His surging adrenaline made it almost hysterical.
The blond fumbled for a Pokeball at his belt, still snickering as Abra approached carefully from the other side of the Onix. "V-very, very nicely done Kaz." Arthur took a steadying breath, deep and long, and then just took a moment to look at and admire the odd-colored Pokemon before he threw the Pokeball. For a moment- just a moment- he wondered if he should even try. She would undoubtedly not be well pleased when he released her again... could he even train something like that?!
Abra's mental presence prodded at his own in cautious reminder, and the boy smiled again as he understood. "Right... I don't turn down challenges." He threw the Pokeball, overhanded and harder than he meant to.

WILD ONIX APPEARED! [/style] IT IS SHINY!Onix || Female || Sturdy || Rock/Ground || Level 11 Mud Sport || Tackle || Harden || Bind || Screech || Rock Throw As luck would have it, by the time Arthur tossed the Pokéball at the immense stone serpent, she was leagues too far from the waking world to do more to resist its pull than give a slight moan when the dual-colored sphere struck her side roughly, opened, and shot a flash of bright crimson light at her, bathing her yellow-green skin in its glow. Her whole body took on its red glow for a moment before it simply vanished, drawn into the ball in the blink of an eye as the light retreated to the ball’s confines. It then dropped to the ground, rolled for a few feet until the grass stopped it, and wobbled but twice in place before a quiet ping revealed that the capture had been a complete success. Whatever happened in the morning with the unruly creature, she was now one hundred percent Arthur’s, and would either have to learn to accept that fate or fight against her forced obedience every bit of the way.
WILD ONIX WAS CAUGHT!
OOC: I’m sorry this is so short and crappy. Capture posts are never my best. Arthur took a shallow breath and began to hold it once the ball drew Onix into it as energy with a bright flash of red light. Abra looked between him and the ball when the blond did not move to pick it up, but there wasn't a chance in hell Arthur was going anywhere near the thing until it pinged. What if she had a little more fight than he'd thought left inside? He could just as easily be crushed beneath the serpent in her escape of the Pokeball than he could have been during the fight itself.
Only when the ball pinged did Arthur relax, the tension visibly leaving his stance along with all the air he'd been holding inside. He looked down at Abra, who was obviously favoring his right leg, and with a frown, bent to pick him up with gentle hands. "I could not possibly be disappointed in a performance like that Abra. You did awesome, and as soon as we're out of here, I'll fix you up and treat you. Ice cream maybe." The fox winced, and snuggled into the crook of his arm.
Arthur's collection of the newly filled Pokeball was quick, and his departure from the park even more so. He didn't know where that other guy went, but he hoped he was still in there somewhere. That Onix and the destruction it had wrought would undoubtedly pull Epispect to the site- and he wasn't about to take the blame.
In fact, Arthur thought he might just avoid the park for good from that point on.
