[atrb=width,225px][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0px,true][atrb=cellspacing,0px,true][atrb=background,http://i.imgur.com/WO7lj.jpg,true] | Naturally it was night, on Arthur's latest visit to Aether City's park. Like it could be any other time of the day. When the sun was out, it was so loud, so busy, often full of snot-nosed little brats and parents who gave him nervous looks, some recognizing him as 'That Troublemaker', or less plesant names. Who needed that? Arthur didn't. Give him the night, and the 'forbidden' feel of the place he had to jump the gate to get into, and the utter lack of human noise, and he was happy. Especially on days like that, when he had to think.
The object of his mental focus sat on a small mound of grass, only a couple of feet in front of him. He lay on his side in the fluffy green mat that had been miraculously tended so that it covered the majority of the park, and stared. On the other side was Abra, cross legged and silent as always, though an amused curiosity continued to slide across their Psychic connection, stronger the longer his Trainer continued to watch. He honestly didn't see the point of staring at it. It wasn't like it was about to move.
It was an Egg. A simple, tan and brown, Pokemon Egg.
<< Not hatched yet? >> Abra softly whispered into his Trainer's mind, 'voice' wry. He was a Pokemon. It was a Pokemon Egg. He knew these things. One would think that gave him the ability to speak with confidence with these things and be listened to, but no, he'd been ignored the last five times he'd said as much.
Arthur blinked, and grimaced at the pain in his elbow that decided to make itself known as he came out of his own thoughts. He'd been using his fist as a headrest. "I get it... a watched egg never hatches." He snorted, "But what else do we do with it? Until the thing gets off it's ass, wakes up and pops out already, I'm not leaving the city limits." He returned his gaze to the egg. The thing unnerved him. It meant he had to show responsibility. Even more so than he had to show with his Team. Scary.
Abra stared at his human blankly. Despite the tone, the feel in his mind didn't taste of annoyance. Arthur was remarkably protective of the unhatched baby Pokemon. He continually put himself in danger, as well as all of his team on more than one occasion, doing things other humans would prefer that he did not, but give him a baby, and he suddenly became a nervous parent, unwilling to let his Egg come to any harm. << Strange. >>
Arthur narrowed his eyes at his Psychic started over the tip of the silently resting egg, "Bite me." Abra's fox head tilted to the left in response, completely unaffected by the irritation aimed his way. Realizing that, Arthur sighed, "Well wouldn't you rather be out here than taking care of it at home?" He didn't need the odd feel of grudging agreement in his head to know how Abra felt about that. Neither of them liked being cooped up with people who continued to try and order them about. Arthur loved his parents, but every time he visited, they tried to make up for lost time, fussing over him every damn second he was within reach. "They'd love to see us."
Snickering at the lack of response from Abra, Arthur shifted on the ground, rolling onto his back and dragging his travel pack to him, the one that had formerly held the Pokemon Egg. He rolled it up above his head and then stuck it beneath his neck so that he could rest his head and stare up at the stars. It was a nice night, very clear, with no sound but the occasional Bug or other nocturnal Pokemon to break the silence. He drew a deep breath, then froze, and arched an eyebrow at the stars above. "Why didn't I just have you teleport me across the fence?" |

It had been an unusual few weeks for Shuichi with his recent acquisition of a few feisty Pokémon and meeting the crazy drunk, but the most interesting things was the egg. An egg of many brown shades was in his arms, and he didn’t know exactly what to do with it now. Was he supposed to sit still and wait for it to hatch, or did he put it in something to make it mature faster? “I don’t think I am ready to be a parent to a Pokémon yet,” he muttered as he walked into the park with the egg.
A sudden flash of movement reminded him that his newly acquired Zangoose was running at his feet, and he remembered telling her to keep an eye out for anything that could prove to be trouble for them. Of course, the likelihood of finding trouble in the park was just as likely as a rare Pokémon falling into his lap with keys to his own condo attached to its collar, but Shuichi knew that these were unlikely events to happen to him. Maybe he would get lucky and find some money on the ground, which could be used to buy him food.
“Zangoose!”
|
[/b] The cry of his Pokémon alerted him to the fact that something or someone was nearby, which meant that he needed to be on his guard. Naturally, there were many thoughts running through his head on how to handle this new presence in the area, but he eventually settled on one that would probably end in a fight with something or great disappointment at the fact that it turned out to be nothing more than some dumb kids playing around in the park. “Alright Zangoose. Lead me to whoever this is, and we’ll see if we can’t find some fun.”The Zangoose nodded as she got down on all fours and began running after the smell that had hit her nose, and after running around the park like a bunch of people look like they were tracking down a criminal or something the two of them came upon a guy with an Abra staring at an egg almost identical to the one that Shuichi was holding. “Zangoose, zang,”[/color] Zangoose said as it looked at the pair and wondered if there was a special on that particular egg or whether it was some weird coincidence that wasn’t likely to happen to them again. “You’re right, Zangoose. This definitely seems like a rather fortunate occurrence for us,” Shuichi said as he began to slowly walk over to the pair. He had no idea if that is what the Zangoose had said, but it didn’t change what he was going to do. “Well seeing as how we both have an egg, how about you let me in on what exactly I am supposed to do with it.” When one wasn’t ignorant about what to do, annoy someone into telling you. That was sort of his motto of the day until he could think of one that didn’t seem as lame. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/color][/td][/tr][tr][td] [/td][/tr][/table][/center] Eevee egg: 1/10

[atrb=width,225px][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0px,true][atrb=cellspacing,0px,true][atrb=background,http://i.imgur.com/WO7lj.jpg,true] | "I noticed," Arthur murmured to the sky in response to Abra's mental prod. He'd been amusing himself by trying to assign Pokemon to the various noises that filled the park, so his ears had easily picked up on something a lot heavier than a Bug Pokemon coming toward him, his Psychic and his Egg. He'd been resting contentedly on the fluffy park grass, but he couldn't be caught completely unaware, so with an irritated groan, he pulled his upper body up so that he sat, then twisted in place toward the noise.
Arthur's head tilted and he arched a brow quizzically as the first form to become visible was the bright white of a Zangoose with it's nose to the ground, practically glowing under the moonlight. "Huh." That as interesting. Was it a wild one? His eyes slipped away, looking for an owner, and he quickly found one as a more slender human shape stepped out of the shadows. Eyeing them carefully as their voices carried faintly over the grass, he concluded that they were unlikely to be threats, despite coming upon him and Abra in the dark and isolated park. The blonde relaxed a little more and leaned back on his hands to wait.
Mention of their Eggs- remarkably similar in appearance- had him reflexively glancing toward the object he'd become so protective over in such a short time. Abra, having thought ahead, had shifted himself closer so that his tail wrapped around the unhatched Pokemon's base. He'd be ready to Teleport himself and the Egg out of harms way at a moment's notice. With a bemused smile, Arthur turned his eyes back to the other man. Had he really asked what to do with an egg?
"Cuddle?" He quipped in reponse to the question, a laugh in his voice, a teasing wiggle of his brows. For a moment, he thought about getting to his feet to offer a hand, but couldn't be bothered in such a comfortable moment. The grass below him was surprisingly pillow like. He'd be worried he was sitting on a Vileplume if there was a bad smell. Instead he settled for a nonchalant shrug and added, "Where'd you get yours?"

The first thing that was noted by either being on Shu’s side of the conversation was the movement of the Abra, which was mainly caught by Zangoose. The normal Pokémon was always on the lookout for signs of threats toward her Trainer, and no Psychic Pokémon was going to come near Shu while there was still breath in the Zangoose’s body. That was how loyal of a partner she was to the Murkrow Gijinka, but there were probably some underlying feelings of her thinking that the egg is actually hers.
The other guy’s initial response the question that Shu had asked got a perplexed look from the asker, so he took a seat on the ground and set the egg before him. Almost immediately, his Zangoose positioned herself in such a way that it was like she was trying to surround the egg with her body, which was the more obvious sign that she thought of the egg as hers. Unless a wild Pokémon came along or something made a move toward the egg, then Zangoose would not be moving.
“I think my Zangoose has got the cuddle part down,” Shu said as he looked at the guy lounging about like the park was some sort of resort. He was pretty sure that the question about where he got the egg was so the guy could find out if someone had them on sale or something. Whatever the reason, Shu figured that he should give an answer to the question so he wouldn’t seem like a jerk or something to the guy he was trying to milk for vital information.
“I got it off of this guy in exchange for something. Can’t really remember what it was I traded,” he said as cracked his knuckles. Then he began to wonder about it, so he figured that asking the same question couldn’t hurt anyone. “So how did you get your egg?” He really hoped it wasn’t some completely obscure story that went on and on only for him to fight out that the egg was a gift from someone after he did something nice for him. Shu hated stories like that.

[atrb=width,225px][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0px,true][atrb=cellspacing,0px,true][atrb=background,http://i.imgur.com/WO7lj.jpg,true] | Arthur didn't mind the other man taking a spot on the ground next to him. It was a free park, and it was only one person. If the guy got annoying, he'd say so and then Abra could teleport the two of them somewhere else. He eyed the Zangoose a little warily. It was a rather large Pokemon, and to his eyes, it appeared threatening even when it wasn't trying to be. Still... Abra could take it. He offered the large red and white creature an amused smile when it settled down around the egg, cuddling it, and nodded in agreement with the man.
The explanation as to how he got his egg rang a little false. Really, who didn't remember the place and way they got their hands on a Pokemon Egg? Either the man was brainless or he the way he came across it wasn't entirely legal. Perhaps whatever it was that he traded for it would get him in trouble. Arthur just smiled and nodded on the outside however, not giving voice to his suspicion.
"My egg?" Arthur echoed, glancing back at it again. Even he recognized the paranoia he was exhibiting around the stupid thing by that point. His skin itched if it was out of his sight for too long. Sweeping a hand through his hair to distract himself- and leaving grass blades behind- he answered with a roll of his shoulders. "It showed up in the Center one day, and nobody knew where or what it had come from." He chuckled, "Some idiot probably wasn't keeping a close enough eye on their Pokemon, and it snuck off... anyway, they had to hand it off to someone." And he'd been there, and had friends there, and a two year history of impeccable behavior before he left to begin Training. It was nice. They were fully aware of what he'd done before finding that job, but after two years, they trusted him enough to hand off an unhatched Pokemon to him.
Again, he felt the urge to check his egg's location, and rubbed his hands together for warmth as a distraction. "Do you know what laid yours?" |

So the guy found his egg at the Pokémon Center? How interesting., Shu thought as he looked at the guy’s Abra. He never would have thought that an abandoned Pokémon or Pokémon egg would be given away so willy nilly to some random person that looked right, and that meant he could get a lot of Pokémon if he just hung around a center. Of course, he would have to dress for the occasion as his current look made him out to be a punk, which he technically was but no one gave things to punks for free unless they were going to blow them up. Shu disliked being blown up as it messed up his hair.
”So you got an egg because someone’s Pokémon bred while no one was looking? I got to tell you that it sounds pretty bizarre and yet believable.” He knew that Pokémon were good fighters, but he wouldn’t have expected them to be ‘fertile’ buggers. He might have to try breeding some of his Pokémon the next time that he got a chance, but then again he would be stuck with a bunch of eggs that he would have no idea what to do with. This meant that he would have to milk the guy for information on the subject, so that he would know everything that he would ever need to in order to be an expert.
Then the guy asked him if he knew what laid his, which was sort of a dumb question given that Shu couldn’t even remember what he traded for the egg. ”Nope. I have absolutely no clue what could be the mother to this thing. Hope it wasn’t something completely boring though. Then I would be stuck with a useless Pokémon,” Shu stated as he continued to sit there. If he was going to get information from this guy, then he would need to do something that would relax the guy’s mind, so it would be more receptive to giving answers. There was only two things that could do that, and one of those he wasn’t willing to do. “So are you bored?”

OOC: I'm sorry it's so late. And short. My post length has been weird today. Everything from 176 to 800.[atrb=width,225px][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0px,true][atrb=cellspacing,0px,true][atrb=background,http://i.imgur.com/WO7lj.jpg,true] | Arthur remained silent as the other man spoke, nodding occasionally, and smiling at the thoughtful sound of the stranger's voice as he seemed to question the origin of Arthur's Egg. The remark about useless Pokemon received a small frown. He tried not to think that way himself. Having worked so long in the center, he'd begun to suspect that the only useless Pokemon was one with a useless Trainer. At the end, he gave a little noncomittal shrug. He had been, but the company he had now wasn't terrible.
"It sounds weird, but it happens," Arthur rolled his shoulders a tad, then grimaced and pulled himself back a foot towards his Egg, so as to get his ass off the hard clod of dirt he was only then feeling beneath. "I worked there for a couple of years," He informed the other guy. "It can get insane over there- especially night shifts. Some people even abandon Pokemon there," The disgust in his tone and roll of his eyes made it clear how he felt about those types. Lazy bastards.
"But yeah," Arthur blew out a soft sigh, stirring the hair over his eyes. "I guess I am a little bored." Not that it was particularly hard for Arthur to find boredom. He shrugged, "I've been keeping to the city until that one hatches," He gestured to the egg, briefy holding himself up with one hand. "The safer parts." There were a lot of sections of the city that he'd found just as dangerous as those on the out. He narrowed his eyes a tad at the other, suddenly curious, "What are you thinking? |

WILD GLIGAR APPEARED! [/style] Gligar || Male || Hyper Cutter || Ground/Flying || Level 8 Poison Sting || Sand Attack Ah, nighttime in Aether City’s park. One would think that, being in the middle of the world’s only known human stronghold, it would be a bit more exciting during the late hours. Humans were notoriously noisy creatures, after all, and many of them enjoyed the “night life” as it were. Perhaps they simply held a slightly different definition of just what “night life” was than the Gligar gliding from tree to tree as he made his rounds through the park, trying to find something exciting. Even while the rest of the city lit up around them, the park was eerily calm, peaceful even during the late hours. Sure, there were a few humans scattered here and there throughout the park - a bug catcher chasing late-night insect Pokémon through the brush, a young couple in a clearing watching the stars and cuddling - but there was very little of interest to the dual-typed creature. He sighed, landing on another thick tree branch, one sturdy enough to hold his considerable weight. Migrating here for the excitement was turning out to be a bust, and he was beginning to think that even the mountains at night were more interesting than this. Maybe returning to his home territory would not be such a bad idea....
A breeze stirred the leaves of the tree, carrying with it the sound of voices nearby that tickled the Gligar’s bat-like ears. A pair of humans, it sounded like. He could not hear what exactly they were talking about, but knowing that there was somebody in this place with a pulse - someone who might battle - was enough for him. He took off again with a decisive jump, gliding in the direction of the sounds.
Sure enough, not too far away, there were two humans sitting in the grass with their Pokémon - a Zangoose and an Abra, it looked like - and...well, he could not see too well from where he was, but were those Pokémon eggs with them? Now, he was no egg thief: he hunted his own food to survive, and was above scavenging little eggies from under their parents or guardians’ noses. However, he was also bored out of his skull, and was certainly not above stirring up a little mischief to keep himself from falling asleep on the wing. And what better way to do so than to provoke a couple Pokémon watching over eggs, and likely protective of the little things? Just aim a Poison Sting nearby, and they were sure to flip out. Which was exactly what he did, flinging his scorpion-like tail out to shoot a volley of venom-coated stingers toward the ground near where the egg-watchers sat.
WILD LILLIPUP APPEARED! [/style] Lillipup || Male || Vital Spirit || Normal || Level 5 Leer || Tackle || Odor Sleuth Meanwhile, not more than a few feet from where the two young men lay on the grass with their Pokémon and eggs, a Lillipup sniffed through the grass quietly in search of a good place to...well, a good place for a midnight potty break. As used to park visitors as he was, he saw little reason to be afraid of the boys and their teams, and was fairly sure that he would be fine so long as he minded his own business, stayed quiet, and did not look like a threat. Not that Lillipup were a threatening-looking breed of Pokémon anyway, but it was better to play it safe when eggs were involved. So he kept his head down, nose to the grass, and shuffled along as quietly as he could, tiny paws soft and quiet in the night.
A sudden rush of air tickled his sensitive fur on his face, something unnatural, and the canine Pokémon glanced up in alarm just in time for a volley of Poison Sting barbs to spear him in the face. The normal-type yelped loudly in pain, swatting at the stingers - painfully lodged in his nose and the side of his face - as he ran around, his need for stealth forgotten as he tried to shake the needles off, but all he managed to accomplish was make a racket. At least the poison had not taken this time, and after shaking his head in pain, he looked back up at the sky just in time to see a dark shadow passing overhead. A Gligar, possibly. A whine of pain turned into an angry growl before the terrier-like Pokémon let out a loud, yapping bark at the shadowy figure, not caring one bit now if he distubred the parkgoers nearby.
OOC: Sorry if this was a clumsy post. I haven't modded a double thread before. ^-^'

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background, i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae329/Stick26/brown-1-1.jpg] Shu noted the frown that came on the guy’s face when he said the word useless, but he ignored it at the time. There was no sense in picking a serious fight while he was in possession of the egg, so he would keep his cool until after the Pokémon inside of the egg was safe and secured inside of a Poké ball. Once that happened, then Shu would do something to kick start a fight, and it would definitely be a doozy of a fight. He could see lots of damage being done to the surrounding area by both Pokémon and himself, and it brought a smile to his face.
Then the guy mentioned that he worked at the place where he had gotten the egg at for a few years, which seemed like a great cover for getting free Pokémon by legal or illegal means. He didn’t catch the emphasis on the word ‘abandon’, but that was mainly because he was lost in the images of the potential battle. His mind came back in when the guy said that he was bored and asked him what he was thinking, and what he was currently thinking wasn’t something that he would admit to a priest let alone some guy he had just met in the park. Of course, it didn’t seem that he was going to have to do that given what happened next.
First, a bunch of needles landed in the ground near them, and then a whining sound occurred. Taking in the scene, Shu came to the conclusion that he could make the weird situation into a game if the guy was willing to play. Well, he didn’t actually need the guy to play the game because then he could battle two Pokémon at once, but it would be more fun with a second person. “I was thinking that maybe we could race to see who can catch a Pokémon first. Are you in,” asked Shu. Like always, he didn’t wait for an answer as he whistled softly, which caught the attention of his Zangoose who immediately moved into attack position.
“Alright Feral! Use Quick Attack on whoever is whining,” Shu commanded. With that order in mind, the Zangoose made a beeline for the barking dog who was going to get knocked over. In her mind, the dumb Lillipup was going to wake up her baby, and that was a crime that was worth getting her paws dirty for.

[atrb=width,225px][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0px,true][atrb=cellspacing,0px,true][atrb=background,http://i.imgur.com/WO7lj.jpg,true] | So much for ensuring the protection of his Egg. Arthur's curse was hissed in such a way that it wasn't even understandable, and not even he was certain what four letter word it was supposed to have been. A spray of needles had cut diagonally across the grass and come entirely too close to his Egg for him to be comfortable with. He'd been paying attention to his surroundings before, but when the stranger with his Zangoose and warning vibes had come along he'd been distracted. He'd seen a flicker of movement in the air, but had assumed it was just another leaf, blown free from it's tree.
Something whined in pain as the spray from the flying Pokemon cut off, sounding not even a yard behind him, and Arthur let out a growl of his own. Insult plus near injury. Lovely. The stranger's suggestion brought a smile to his face though. A capture game? Not something he'd ever done before, but as long as they were going to be forced to fight to protect their seperate unhatched Eggs..."Definitely, I'm in!" He took a moment to admire the movement of the Zangoose, quick on her feet despite her kind of wide form. Formidable. It took the one on the ground. That was fine.
"Focus Abra. I've got the Egg now." He'd scrambled to his feet at the fall of the first few needles, and now moved next to Abra where the Psychic appeared to watch the sky despite his closed eyes, head moving to follow it as it grew closer. Arthur quickly bent and swept the egg into his arms, leaving Abra to focus on the fight instead of it's safety. Whatever the Pokemon aboe was, the starlight at it's back made it little more than a swiftly moving shadow from Arthur's point of view. But he did know it used Poison Sting. Poison-type? Maybe. And if so, he had Abra and had already won. The blonde smirked, "So hit it with a Psyshock!"
One seemingly frail arm immediatly raised as Abra pointed his hand toward the sky. The grass around the little fox's form became shaded purple as a trio of pulsing spheres of Psychic energy took form, and with a thrusting motion, they were flung into the sky at the target in hopes of tearing it down before it reached them. |

WILD GLIGAR APPEARED! [/style] Gligar || Male || Hyper Cutter || Ground/Flying || Level 8 Poison Sting || Sand Attack The Gligar chuckled darkly at the Lillipup’s barking, safe in the air and out of the tiny normal-type’s range. It looked ridiculous with the spines sticking out of its furry little face at all angles, and the way it was barking its head off as it tried fruitlessly to reach him or, perhaps, goad him into landing was hilarious. Of course, the trainers and their own Pokémon immediately took notice - and how could they not, with the din the little mutt was raising? Sure enough, the black-haired human’s Zangoose was on the Lillipup in an instant, propelled by her Quick Attack’s momentum. Unfortunately, he did not have time to watch the Zangoose walk all over the Lillipup as he, too, had been spotted.
The Gligar barely had time to roll in midair as the Abra fired off three balls of pulsating psychic energy, glowing brightly in the night as they flew straight for him. He managed to spin out of the way of the first, but the second clipped one of his wing-like membranes, sending a wave of pain through his side that was nothing compared to the next as the sphere slammed into him head-on, pain and power rippling across his purple body and illuminating his shape in the darkness. The Gligar gave a cry as it dropped in the air, but it managed to shake off the shock of the pain before it hit the ground and swerved back skyward, flapping his arms and their attached webbing furiously. Oh, so this Abra wanted to be serious? Well then, he was going to be serious as well! The time for pranking was over, now it was battle time! With a battle cry, the Gligar fired off another round of Poison Stings, this time aiming directly at the psychic-type instead of firing them off willy-nilly. Normally, he would have thrown in a Sand Attack as well, but that was the problem with psychics; they rarely needed their eyes to pinpoint a target, and Abra always had theirs squinted shut anyway. No, better to go all-out offensive in this case. He could hear the rush of the blood in his bat-like ears as his heart pounded in excitement, the fight finally relieving the tedium that had plagued him all night.
WILD LILLIPUP APPEARED! [/style] Lillipup || Male || Vital Spirit || Normal || Level 5 Leer || Tackle || Odor Sleuth Still occupied with the spines turning his whiskered face into a fluffy pincushion, the Lillipup did not see the Zangoose coming until it was already too late. The white-furred Pokémon crashed into the much smaller normal-type with all the force of her weight and speed, flinging the Lillipup through the air with a yelp equal parts pained and startled. He hit the grass rolling, the wind knocked out of his tiny body momentarily as he skidded across the park’s carefully maintained lawn. His head and body throbbed in pain as he finally came to a stop, whimpering softly as he struggled to right himself for a moment. The earth seemed to tremble beneath his paws, but in reality he was the one wobbling unsteadily. That hurt, far more than the annoying sting from the poison barbs lodged in his face. And what for? He was being noisy, but he meant no harm to anyone but that Gligar! He could smell the beast even now, still darting about the air above them, but he could not focus on that right now, not with a very angry Zangoose to deal with. With a shake of his oversized head, the puppy Pokémon returned to his senses. Even if he wasn’t looking for a fight, he had no choice now but to strike back, or else the feline Pokémon would likely tear him to pieces with her wicked looking claws. Spending the night in a bloody heap was definitely not a thought that appealed to him by any means.
Eyes narrowed and glinting angrily in the darkness, the Lillipup Leered at the Zangoose before charging at the larger Pokémon in a desperate Tackle attack, fueling it with all of his body’s pain and the fury he felt after being so rudely attacked while trying to do his business in peace. His night had been ruined pretty quickly, and whether he lost this confrontation or not, he was not going to take the Zangoose’s beatings lying down.

At least the entrance of these two Pokémon would keep them from getting into an argument that would lead to a serious fight between them, which would more than likely cause one or both of the eggs to be damaged. Regardless of how much he liked to fight, Shu was not going to let anything happen to the egg until he was sure that it was a dud.
Meanwhile, Feral had knocked the little pup for a loop with that Quick attack, but now was not the time to lower one’s guard. She stood up on her hind legs and began to prepare herself for the next attack. Of course, the Lillipup had not stayed down, and it was already on the move to lash out against the Zangoose. “Feral, use your Leer to lower its defense so that your Scratch attack will be more effective,” Shuichi ordered from his safe position with the egg. Now that the Zangoose had her marching orders, Shu’s attention was back on the egg that he was guarding.
Feral’s eyes locked on the pup that was coming at her, and she proceeded to Leer at the Lillipup after it had already leered at her. Now it was coming at her to tackle, which she allowed as it would let her use Scratch to give the puppy a haircut. Once the collision happened, the Zangoose was knocked backward and grunted in pain, but she was soon on her feet and rushed the Lillipup to swipe her claws across the side of the dog’s face. It was definitely going to be fun for her to cause the mutt a little pain.

[atrb=width,225px][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0px,true][atrb=cellspacing,0px,true][atrb=background,http://i.imgur.com/WO7lj.jpg,true] | Arthur experienced a surge of hot victory followed a cold disappointed fall as the battle against his own opponent began in earnest. Abra's Psyshock had had been well aimed, and whatever the Pokemon had been, it hadn't the speed to avoid the attack, but it had not been smacked out of the air by it. It had looked like it would fall for a moment, but it recovered before hitting the ground and was back in the sky seconds later. Probably not a Poison type then. It wouldn't have had the strength to get back up there after Abra's attack if it had been. "Crap." That was a no for the easy victory.
The sound of battle at his back was loud, a lot louder than his had been so far. Abra by nature was a rather quiet Pokemon, and Arthur's Abra was even quiet in his head most of the time. He hoped the other man could keep that pup from getting through and biting at his ankles. He needed to focus. The blonde tightened his hold on the Egg and forced his mind back on his and his starter's own fight. Good thing he did. "TELEPORT."
A lot of the time, his voiced commands weren't even needed. Before the last syllabal had even rolled off his too slow tongue, Abra had flashed out of the way of of needle spray, reading from his Trainer's far faster mind. "Now try again!" While he tried to get a handle on what he was up against. As Abra took aim at the sky with an arm, around which grew the three brightly glowing spheres of a PSYSHOCK attack, Arthur very carefully worked his hand into the pocket that contained his Pokedex, which was easier said than done with a Pokemon Egg in hand. He eventually managed it however, and aimed the device at the silloute in the sky.
A thought occured to him as he read the information off the screen, and without looking, the teen called back over his shoulder at the other male. "I forgot to ask! What happens to the loser?!"

WILD GLIGAR APPEARED! [/style] Gligar || Male || Hyper Cutter || Ground/Flying || Level 8 Poison Sting || Sand Attack A mischievous grin split the Gligar’s pink face in the dark as his Posion Sting volley flew straight at the opponent. The venom-tipped needles would sting like hell if nothing else, although a cautious voice at the far back of his mind warned him that a poison-type attack would not be so easy to defeat a psychic foe. The flying-type snorted and swatted away those fears as easily as he would a bug with his scorpion-like tail. He knew what he was doing! ...or, at least, he thought he did until the Abra’s blond-haired master called out something the Gligar did not quite understand. Before the word was completely out of the young man’s mouth, the psychic-type seemed to wink out of existence a mere second before the swarm of needles speared into the space he vacated. The Gligar hissed in annoyance as he flapped to stay airborne - he should have seen that coming, really. Before that cautionary voice could pipe up with an “I told you so,” the Abra blinked back onto the scene and launched a second Psyshock at the Gligar. This time, he did not bother trying to dodge the glowing spheres of psychic energy: it did not worked out before with his slow speed in the air, so why would it work this time? Instead, the Gligar let out a cry and dove straight at the attack and then through it, grimacing as the psychic power ran across his body in painful waves. It hurt like hell - not to mention gave him a splitting headache - but this could be his only chance to catch the Abra before it teleported away again.
The Gligar opened his mouth wide in another furious hiss as he cleared the other side of the attack, closing in on his psychic target. Before he could collide with smaller creature, however, he pulled up and lashed out with his tail, sending yet another stream of Poison Stings at his foe. It was an admittedly boring strategy, but it was still the only offensive attack he knew so far.
WILD LILLIPUP APPEARED! [/style] Lillipup || Male || Vital Spirit || Normal || Level 5 Leer || Tackle || Odor Sleuth The Zangoose matched the Lillipup Leer for Leer as he charged her, fierce red eyes narrowing in a terrifying glare that sent shivers down his tiny spine. He could feel his defensive power withering in the face of her look, but he would not be deterred now; he collided with the Zangoose with all the force he could muster up. Unfortunately his attack put him right where the Zangoose wanted him - right in reach of her wickedly sharp claws. The brown-furred Pokémon only realized his mistake when he saw his bigger foe raise those claws to attack and by then, it was already too late. After taking both the Gligar and the Zangoose’s previous attacks - not to mention that he was still jarred from the force of tackling the much larger Pokémon - his body was too stiff to even try to dodge.
Pain erupted across the side of the smaller normal-type’s face as the Zangoose’s claws sliced through his skin, cutting more than just his fur and leaving lines of crimson across the puppy’s face. The Lillipup dropped to the ground with a pained howl, scattering drops of red across the grass, invisible against the soft green blades in the night. This time, he did not struggle to stand, remaining limp where he fell with his pain ebbing away as he slipped into unconsciousness. His last sight was of the Zangoose’s eyes, still red and watching, terrifying but at the same time stirring up feelings of defiance in his fading consciousness. He tried to let out one last bark at her but his mind was too fuzzy to process that order, his vision blurring and darkening into there was nothing but blackness. Such a victory should have crowned Shuichi the winner of the trainers’ little game, but one denizen of the park had something else in mind....
LILLIPUP FAINTED! IT CAN NOW BE CAPTURED! FERAL THE ZANGOOSE GAINED TWO LEVELS FOR WINNING!
WILD SCYTHER APPEARED! [/style] Scyther || Male || Swarm || Bug/Flying || Level 7 Vacuum Wave || Quick Attack || Leer || Focus Energy The scent of fresh Pokémon blood was thick in the air, tickling the nose of a Pokémon lurking nearby. Blood. Just the faintest smell of it stirred something in his chest, a need to battle that was strong and all-consuming. The Scyther unfolded himself from where he knelt in silent meditation, his slit-pupiled eyes cracking open to gaze at his surroundings. Once on his feet the bug Pokémon stretched, raising his scythe-arms high above his head and fluttering his wings in the darkness to rid them of any stiffness. So night was now fully upon them, and somewhere nearby, a creature bled. The Scyther grinned at the night sky, his blood nearly boiling with excitement after so many hours of sitting quietly as he took another deep breath. Blood on the air meant that a fight raged nearby, or else recently finished, and that was a sure sign that a potential tough opponent was just a short flight away. After disciplining himself all afternoon, surely he deserved one good fight before returning to the swarm.
The young Scyther snorted at that, rather annoyed that he should have to meditate in the first place. For whatever reason, the leader of their swarm had it in his head that he was too rash, too eager to seek out battles and throw himself into danger. Hah! As if anyone shy of a truly worthy opponent could harm him. He was proud of his speed and strength, just like all of his kind, but the same qualities the leader seemed to prize in their swarm’s older members he called rashness in him. He even sent him out to “cool himself off” after picking a fight with a Spearow and an older member of the swarm just had to butt in and “save” him. He was doing fine! His blades would have cut the bird to shreds before it even got a chance to land a single Peck on him. Ah, but now was not the time to be mourning missed opportunities. Not when he could smell a battle fresh on the air. Wings whirred to life once more as the Scyther lifted from the ground, turning toward the direction of the scent before taking off in a flash, a green blur gliding over the grass in the dark, leaving ripples in his wake.
It barely took him any time at all to find the source of the smell; a bleeding Lillipup collapsed in a heap on the ground with a victorious Zangoose nearby. Another grin split his reptilian features at the sight of the strong-looking normal type. If he could take her down, there would be no way that the doddering old fart of a leader could talk down to him! His blood sang at the site of her, an instinct for battle as old as his kind taking control of him. He would cover that beautiful white fur of hers with more streaks of red before the night was through and come out victorious, of that he was certain. With a cry of challenge he flew right at the normal-type in a Quick Attack, curved scythe arms at the ready and not caring one bit if she was still tired from her last battle. All he saw was a chance to prove himself against a tough opponent and he would be damned if he was going to pass it up.
OOC: I hope I did the level awarding properly. ._.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,350,true] | [atrb=background, i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae329/Stick26/brown-1-1.jpg] Shu could have sworn he heard the word ‘crap’ coming from behind him, which made him think that his new acquaintance was having some trouble with the Pokémon that he was facing. “Are you having trouble over there? Do you need me to step in for you,” he inquired in a playful manner. He had found egging someone on would only help in these situations, and it made him feel good when he poked fun at the other guy as if this was a schoolyard competition. Of course, his mind was also focused on his own fight, but Feral seemed to be very capable of knocking her opponent around as if she was playing with a doll.
The moment of victory came and passed as Feral’s claws raked the side of the little pup, and she watched as the Lillipup fell to the ground. There was a feeling of pride on her face as she took in the sweet smell of victory, and then she remembered that she was going to have to report the win back to Shuichi. “Zang. Zang. Zangoose,” Feral said rather loudly while staring in the direction of her trainer. She was anxious to get back to the egg that she held so dear.
Upon hearing the sound of his Pokémon’s voice, Shuichi stood up and walked in the direction of the sound, and it was at that moment he heard the other guy’s question. “How about a tattoo of the word ‘Loser’ on your forehead? I say ‘your’ as it seems Feral has one this game for me,” he declared as he walked over to where the Zangoose and her prey was. Of course, there was something that no one could have anticipated the Scyther slamming into Feral rather abruptly, and Shu knew exactly how his Zangoose would react to such an assault as she took it personal.
“It seems the game has gone into extra innings,” he announced rather loudly so the other guy could hear. With that being said, it was time to direct his Pokémon on what to do against this particular foe. First thing was first, Shu pulled out his Pokédex to identify the Pokémon, and upon learning that it was a Scyther he could only smile. “Feral, Leer and then Quick Attack,” he ordered. Scyther were special Pokémon that made him want it more.
Zangoose leered at the green Pokémon and then went into a zig-zag pattern before making straight for the insect Pokémon. It was time to dish out a little payback with a lot more force being used against the Scyther than it had used on her. Well that was how feral saw it happening, but who really knew the power difference between the two.
