Kagura relaxed half heartedly on the grass. He had come out to the lake for some peace and quiet, looking for inspiration. Though he had given up - or rather had been forced to give up - on his career of writing did not mean he did not compose small works of prose in his spare time. The man stretched his arms, setting down his mechanical pencil and the seemingly permanently blank notepad.
Off a short distance away his mienfoo Tessa was watching after the newly hatched rufflet, named Ichiko after a young boy in one of his more popular books. When he had first received Tessa it didn't take long before she had started becoming the main character in many of the stories he told his younger siblings. After he had officially started his career, the ever faithful mienfoo had journey'd with the main character in his first series, then had made cameo appearances in his other novels. It seemed natural to name his pokemon after characters in his novels that their behaviour reminded him of. He had been so dedicated to his work, Kagura had written many books in the short time he spent as a writer.
He shook his head. Now was not the time to be thinking about that, it wasn't like he was still an official author any more so he really shouldn't feel so down about not having the inspiration to write. But still... Not even coming out here to observe wild pokemon had stirred up his imagination, normally it was so easy. It occured to the blonde that maybe... it was because he hadn't seen any yet.

WILD CHIMECHO APPEARED! [/style] Chimecho || Male || Levitate || Psychic || Level 3 Wrap Now, there was no scientifically proven reason why psychic-types seemed to gather around the lakeside; some hypothesized that there might be some mineral in the water that enhanced psychic abilities, but as Lake Antebellum provided most of Aether City’s water, should that not mean that any water would have the same effect? So that particular theory was probably a bust. So why then? In the end, no one could say why, in fact, that particular group of Pokémon enjoyed this environment, and that unanswered question had absolutely zero effect on the psychic-types living nearby.
Take a certain Chimeco, for instance. He did not know a thing about theories or minerals or, well, much of anything really. How could he? The chime-like creature was still young, recently hatched and new to living on his own. Even his psychic powers had yet to develop enough to be used for battle, even if he could levitate perfectly now. With only his considerably long tail as a weapon, he was practically defenseless, but there was one thing he did know and that was that the lake was the place you went when you were thirsty, and right now, the blue-skinned Pokémon was downright parched. He also knew that the lakeside could be dangerous, attracting stronger Pokémon and trainers alike, but he was too thirsty to care at the moment and so to the lakeside he went.
Carefully, the little blue Pokémon peeked out from behind a bush, staring out at the expanse of sparkling blue water in the distance with tiny yellow eyes. It looked so inviting, the way it sparkled in the sun, promising relief for his dry throat. He almost wanted to jump right in and start splashing around in the shallows, but he knew it was too dangerous to do something like that. Many water-types lived in the lake and some of those were carnivorous and constantly looking for an easy meal like himself so he would only linger at the water’s edge for a second to drink. A quick look around the area revealed a human sitting on the grass, along with his Pokémon, and the Chimecho’s heart sank. Humans - trainers - meant danger, but he was so very thirsty...maybe if he levitated by very, very quietly the man would not notice him. The man looked lost in thought as it was, so it could very well work. Feeling very sneaky, the psychic-type floated out from his cover, trying not to make a single bell-like sound as he crossed the grass to the water’s edge. He probably would have made it, if not for a rock that snagged his low-hanging tail and sent the creature sprawling with a startled jingle. Next thing he knew, the little creature was spitting out a mouthful of grass, hoping that the noise did not draw any unwanted attention.

Kagura was still lost in thought, barely even noticing the pokemon as it drifted across the grass towards the lakeside. Ichiko was trying to climb on Tessa's back, but the fighting type didn't like that at all and was desperately trying to throw the poor little thing off. She flailed a little, tripped, and landed face-first in the dirt. The little rufflet had only to flap its tiny wings a few times, and land gracefully on the ground next its irritated babysitter.
The loud ring of a bell drew Ichiko's attention, the bird turning it's head and bouncing up and down in excitement. Kagura's own gaze followed the pokemon's, resting on what seemed to be a young... what were they called, a chimecho? He wasn't too worried about it, the poor little thing must have been on its way to get something to drink and then tripped over itself. of course, how a pokemon that floated about tripped itself, he did not know.
Movement caught the blonde's eye, his little rufflet chargin full force at the newly appeared pokemon. His wings flapped in enjoyment, and his little talons dug into the soft earth as it ran. He chirped happily, and jumped into the air towards the chimecho. Tessa was still annoyed and on the ground, and while Kagura's interest was piqued, and he was watching the two pokemon carefully, he made no move to get up.

WILD CHIMECHO APPEARED! [/style] Chimecho || Male || Levitate || Psychic || Level 3 Wrap A shove brought the Chimecho up to a sitting position, still sputtering as he tried to cough up a few blades of grass. Ugh, now he really needed a drink! How some Pokémon preferred that icky stuff to berries he had no idea, especially when it left such a weird, bitter aftertaste in his mouth. He just had to hurry to the water and take a few gulps of the sparkling fresh liquid to wash it away and then hurry back to his hiding place. Maybe he would think about finding some real food later.
Just when it seemed like he might get away with floating back up and toward the water unnoticed a loud chirp shattered his thoughts and confidence, the little psychic-type glancing up to see a feathery flying-type charging at him. What were those called? Rufflets? Whatever their names were, the Chimecho knew only that this one was loud and scary, and he let out a frightened series of chimes and rings as he curled his tail around his body protectively. It might not be the best defense against attacking eaglets, but it made him feel safer, gave him hope that if he curled up in a quivering heap of psychic-type and tried to look nonthreatening then the bird might grow bored with him and leave him alone instead of tearing him to shreds with his sharp-looking talons or pecking him to death with that pointy beak of his. That, his Wrap attack, and the possibility of playing dead were really his only defenses at this level.
OOC: If you say so...this is more of a match to yours, so I hope you think this is still good enough. ^-^'

Ichiko skidded to a stop a few feet from the other pokemon, hopped once, and then stared curiously at it. It was floating? How? The little rufflet flapped its wings hard, managing to get up off the ground a few inches before the baby flipped over in midair and landed back on the soft grass by accident. It wasn't fair, he wanted to float like that too! He tried again, made it a little longer and higher then the first attempt, and ended with similar results. The flying-type chirped angrily, springing back to its feet and puffing up his chest feathers.
He cocked his head to the side, moved a bit closer and then hopped in a small circle around the floating pokemon. He chirped again, louder this time. Was it hiding? It stared for a few more seconds before it noticed the shiny gold color that drew his eyes. It sure was pretty... he wanted it.
From where Tessa had just gottne up and brushed herself off, the mienfoo noticed the scene a short distance from her. She was curious as well, but it was plainly obvious that young Ichiko was annoying, or scaring, the other poor pokemon who had curled in on itself. She then watched in shock as the little bird chirped that rather annoying chirping babble it usually did and then leapt up and proceeded to grab the end of the chimecho's tail.

WILD CHIMECHO APPEARED! [/style] Chimecho || Male || Levitate || Psychic || Level 3 Wrap Sharp chirps wracked against the Chimecho’s skull, sending tremors of fear through his little body - fear, and perhaps just a tinge of annoyance. Why was the Rufflet so fixated on him of all things? Why couldn’t he go find a Caterpie to terrorize or something? The terrified creature gave a whimpering jingle as he curled in further on himself, his tail coiling around his round body tightly in mid air. However, while trying to hide his face behind the banner-like appendage, he failed to realize how the sparkling golden orb atop his head bobbed around while he trembled, catching the sunlight as his feathery young tormentor's attention. At some point, the very edge of his tail flicked out as he hid away behind it, flopping and twitching with every shake, almost invitingly. It certainly grabbed the flying-type’s notice if the way Ichiko leaped up and chomped down on the end was anything to go by.
The Chimecho’s frightened rings instantly turned into a panicking din, pain shooting through his poor tail as the eaglet Pokémon’s sharp-tipped beak dug into its flesh. The curled ball of psychic-type immediately burst into a flurry of movement, thrashing and writhing in pain while he attempted to dislodge the bird from his tail. He flailed it around like crazy, desperately trying to flick the youngster off and wailing desperate chimes that roughly equated to “get off, get off” the entire time. Why in the world did he have to get stuck in the role of this crazy hatchling’s plaything? All he wanted was to get a drink! Tears of hurt and frustration prickled at the corner of the Chimeco's eyes, threatening to spill over. It just wan't fair!

Ichiko flapped his wings as the little blue pokemon tried to pry itself from his beak. Noooo! He wanted to plaaaay! The ringing of the bell atop its head was very pretty, and he had never seen this kind of pokemon before either. A shadow fell over the small bird-type as it wrestled against the force of the chimecho and he looked up, his head feathers bobbing on his head.
Tessa was glaring rather angrily down at him. Since when had she gotten here? The ruflett stared at her innocently, as if it thought that that would change anything. She nudged him with her paw. Let him go Ichiko. Ichiko stared at Tessa with small tears forming in his eyes, but unlike that of the poor pokemon he was tormenting his weren't real and his companion knew it. She crossed her arms and glared harder at him in retaliation. Now, or no dinner tonight. The bird type pouted and finally ruffled up its feathers in annoyance before he let the little bell-thing go with an angry chirp. It wasn't fair! He wanted to play too. Although... not quite at the cost of dinner.
The more mature pokemon sighed, placing her paw on its head and ruffling his head feathers. Ichiko shook his head and hopped out of her reach, spinning around and running in a tiny circle. Already forgotten its misdeeds already it seemed. Tessa turned back to the little chimecho, its blue skin and long tail roughed up from the little scuffle. The mienfoo approached it carefully and smiled as much as her weasel-like face would allow. And how about you? Are you okay little guy?

WILD CHIMECHO APPEARED! [/style] Chimecho || Male || Levitate || Psychic || Level 3 Wrap The Chimecho kept crying through the pain of the flying-type’s grip as he desperately tried to break free - though, truthfully, he was more scared than actually hurt in this case. He was just acting the same way any small child would when injured by panicking and crying, hoping that if he made enough of a fuss it would make whatever was hurting him go away. Needless to say, it did not work, and the little creature was so worked up that he did not notice at first when a calm, more mature voice joined in with Ichiko’s annoyingly shrill chirps until something the newcomer said caused the young flier to finally drop his tail and leave him alone. As soon as the feathery terror left, the psychic-type immediately dropped to the ground in quivering relief, shaken by the ordeal but not much worse for the wear save for some bite damage to his tail. Sniffling, he wrapped the abused appendage around his body once more, clinging to it like a security blanket before the same voice that warned the Rufflet away spoke up again, catching his attention.
Blinking cautiously, the Chimecho peeked over his tail to get a good look at his rescuer - a Mienfoo, he thought her kind were called, though he could be wrong. After all, fighting-types were by no means native to the lake for whatever reason, and the few he’d seen in his short life all belonged to trainers passing through. “C-chime, chime.” I-I’m okay, thanks. He managed to ring out in between sniffs, yellow eyes watching the weasel-like Pokémon warily as he spoke. What was she up to, saving him like that? Wasn’t she the shirek-y birdboy’s friend or something? It didn’t make any sense that she would stop the other from bullying him, but at least he was safe for the moment.
