LET THE WHOLE THING BLOW
B A S I C I N F O
★ NAME: Yasu Chiba
★ NICKNAME: None
★ MEMBER GROUP: Gijinka
★ POKEMON: Skarmory
★ STATUS Illegal
★ AGE: 26
★ HEIGHT: Six feet one inch
★ WEIGHT: one hundred and eighty nine pounds
★ FACE CLAIM: Vallewida from Enzai - Falsely Accused
★ APPEARANCE:
Although he's above average in height, Yasu is actually a rather thin individual. At least, that's how he appears at first glance. It's sometimes hard to tell because he wears clothes to hide his appearance and the scars underneath, hoping it'll help him move around while capturing the least amount of attention possible. He's really unassuming in appearance, and if not for the long shock of silvery hair on his head, one might not pay any attention to him at all. While he's thin, he's definitely not feminine, and underneath all of his clothes there's a man that just needs a little extra care.
When someone gets a closer look at him, they realize he has a rather thin face that matches his thin appearance. It's filled with masculine features that could use some filling out. Beneath silvery brows rests a pair of haunted eyes. If only he'd smile more often, they might brighten up, and they really are striking to look at - red and yellow, mixed together but essentially there as their own colors. It's not easy for someone to get close enough to notice though, as he keeps people at a general distance - he doesn't like being touched, if he can avoid it, and when it looks like someone might get that near... well, he's become an expert at artfully dodging unwanted advances. The old scars on his thighs and back, make him self conscious and he will rarely been seen walking around without as many layers as he can get away with.

★ OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Yasu isn't someone that likes to fight. He doesn't like the noise that comes from it, nor does he take joy in the suffering of others. He's what you could call a pacifist - he tries to make nice with everyone and everything around him, and does what he can to keep the peace. When it comes to Pokemon he'd much rather befriend them than engage them in battle, figuring he'd catch more with honey than vinegar. Along with his pacifist habits, he blushes quite a bit and even seems adorably awkward. Most of the "weak" comes from taking the easy way out. But, that doesn't mean he should be counted as helpless. Underneath the layers is a strong, steely interior. He's determined, unfailingly so, and while he doesn't like to fight, he will if it means protecting his friends, family, and Pokemon.
He's not just protective of them, he's devoted and loyal to them as well. Yasu might not have the greatest self-esteem for himself, but he's selfless when it comes to others. He'll go out of his way to help them, and he always tries to keep promises when they're made. He just doesn't like making promises all the time, and tries to avoid doing so, because he's not entirely sure if he'll be able to keep them. That doesn't stop him from helping out though, or doing what he can to do so, when he says he will. Unfortunately, he has such a low judge of character, that it's difficult for him to tell when someone is trying to take advantage of him or not. That's one of the reasons why he's reluctant to trust people, why he doesn't often let someone close. It doesn't help he is shy and soft spoken in the first place and doesn't offer up much in conversation.

H I S T O R Y
- Yasu’s family was certainly lower class. Scraping by on what little his father and mother made doing odd jobs. Work was never completely steady and even when a few extra dollars came in; they saved that little extra for emergencies. With their parents disappearing whenever they had to Yasu was mostly raised by his older sister, Yua. He had a middle brother and sister as well but Yua was special to him. His childhood was a meager one and toys were often stones and sticks he put together to play with, but he wasn’t resentful or bitter about it. He didn’t go to school, instead finding, or lending books from other people in their housing area. Occasionally he went to the library, but since he felt self conscious in his worn cloths and long wild hair, it was a rare treat.
- The spread of the disease into Yasu’s area of town, spelled the beginning of changes in his life. First his father took ill, soon followed by his older brother and second sister. Their finances plummeted and Yasu, his mother and Yua, did what they could to survive. The public was in a panic as friends, neighbors and family died. Even Yua started to show signs, much to Yasu’s horror. After the death of their father, his uncle extended an invitation to come and live with him. His wife and one of three children had died and his house was empty. This went well at first. Yua and Yasu’s mother went off to find jobs and were able to get better paying ones. Yasu helped out around the house with cooking and cleaning and keeping the land up. It was hard work but it was all he could do at the time. Not long after they began their stay at the house, something else far less pleasant became apparent. His uncle had a thing for boys and with two daughters, Yasu was the perfect target. It started with unwanted advances and suggestive and lewd comments. Then things escalated as his uncle started coming into his bed room at night. Whenever the two were alone together his uncle took advantage of it, and at some point Yasu stopped calling for help.
- A secret like that couldn’t be kept from the family and others knew about it, but all turned a blind eye to it, even Yua. Yasu was desperate and an emotional wreck. While Yua expressed a desire to help, there wasn’t much she could do short of running away with him. The disease had compromised her immune system and she was constantly ill and there was no way she could support the two of them. Instead she tried to keep their uncle from Yasu as much as she could. It was never enough though. With her interference, his uncle became more violent, using chains, toys and whips to liven the experience up. Yasu had given up a while back and instead started believing that he somehow deserved what was happening and that he’d done something to his uncle and he deserved the punishment. That was the darkest part of his life, when despair and depression were always hanging around and he was a ghost going through the motions. He was in his late teens that his uncle took him into the underground for an illegal transfusion. His uncle believed that it would keep Yasu looking younger and make him more submissive, after all pokemon could be ordered around. It worked to some extent, Yasu’s hair turned a silvery purple tone and his eyes were striking, but he had very little control over his powers. Severe beating occurred when he accidentally let an attack loose and broke something.
- Yasu didn’t ever find out why Yua chose the time she did or what drove her to attack their uncle, but she did. Having become a gijinka a few years prior himself her frail body was no match for the older man. Yasu witnessed the murder and as his mind clouded with pain and grief seeing her broken body, he lashed out at his uncle with fierce anger he didn’t even knew he possessed. When he came back to himself, the man was dead, body mutilated beyond recognition. Both appalled and somehow relieved at his actions, Yasu turned and fled, bloody cloths and all. He hid for weeks, surviving in back alleys; he’d grown up in the slums and could survive like it for a while. The fear that someone would come looking for him or find out he killed a man, drove Yasu’s every move. The duck and run lifestyle ended when a couple found him dirty and thin sleeping on the side of a road. They were both gijinka and told him they helped those like him get back on their feet and adjust to life after the disease. They never asked questions about his past, but he broke down a short time after he started living with them anyway. There were never judgmental glances, just acceptance and concern for him.
- Yasu was in his early twenties when he started living with the couple and stayed with them for four years. During that time he was able to work through some of the emotions and mindsets that were plaguing him. While all the guilt and fear would never go away, they became manageable and he was able to tolerate other people touching him and even was able to give hugs. Still things weren’t going to last forever there either. For one he needed to get out into the world and survive on his own and make something of himself. The bigger thing was… he’d fallen in love with one of his rescuers. The man was married and Yasu had no right or desire to act on his feelings and ruin the couple’s relationship. The one sided love hurt and he thought it was best he leave in case he grew weak to his desires or the pain drove him into depression again. Yasu left them far better than when he’d come in though and he knew they would find someone else who needed help and that person who ever they’d be, would be well taken care of. Of course finding and keeping a job and adjusting to being out on his own was a new experience and Yasu discovered he still had lots to learn about society.
