Now where would a mischevious Pachirisu be hiding?
Erik had left a message on the table in case Lydian came back, and warned the Pokemon in the house to make sure Lydian read it and not go on a rampage because he was missing, before he finally came after his Pachirisu. And while Erik wanted to get back fast, his hope of that happening was quickly diminishing as he noticed exactly how big and confusing the Wastelands were. Picking one of the devices on his waist, the guy let out both his Pidgey and his Houndour. "Atlanta, go up and try to look for that crazy chipmunk. Cerberus, lets try and scent him out." the guy instructed, and watched as his Pidgey soared high in the air to scour from above, before he begin trekking deeper in to the wastelands following his Houndour's nose. WILD SHUCKLE APPEARED! [/style] Shuckle || Female || Contrary || Bug & Rock || Level 7 | Withdraw | Constrict | Bide | Rollout | Struggle Bug | Encore |
Shuckle enjoyed her isolation, more than anything else in the world. Thank goodness she had an unbreakable shell, and miles and miles of wasteland to lose herself in. So used she was to being alone, that, when the unexpected occasionally came long, it did tend to turn the solitary life she'd built herself on it's head. And sometimes Shuckle herself.
Naturally she'd come across one of those unexpected things at the worst possible moment, when she was away from any dirt soft enough to burrow into, leaving her stuck in the open without anything to hide beneath. She began to shiver as she turned her serpentine yellow head a fraction to eye the human and the pup of Fire from afar. Just one of them would have been bad enough, but two...
<< Sh-sh-shuuuukle... >> Shuckle's whimper was so soft she barely heard her own voice, until it cracked near the end. And suddenly she went absolutely still, freezing in place as if stone. Maybe... if she didn't move... they wouldn't see her... and they'd go away...

So it was the flying Pidgey that first spotted the hiding Shuckle... who looked harmless enough, except Atlanta was paranoid and was too damn scared that it might suddenly turn rogue. Tough chance of course, but being paranoid and motherly as she was, the Pidgey immediately loud screeched to tell Erik and Cerberus of the Pokemon ahead.
Perking up when his Pidgey screeched loudly, Erik frowned, and then took a step back as his Houndour's tail lashed whilst she jumped forward and started snarling. By then even Erik could sense that a Pokemon was in front, and running on his general rule of being careful instead of running in to problems, the guy had no qualms when Cerberus displayed all the signs of wanting to attack.
"Okay Cerberus, flush whatever it is out with a flamethrower!" Erik instructed the Houndour, hoping that whatever Pokemon it was would be frighetened enough by the flames to jump out so he would at least know what he was dealing with. [/style] |

WILD SHUCKLE APPEARED! [/style] Shuckle || Female || Contrary || Bug & Rock || Level 7 | Withdraw | Constrict | Bide | Rollout | Struggle Bug | Encore |Shuckle had been so certain her plain would work! That the human and his fire pup would pass her by, perhaps mistaking her for an oddly shaped rock. Maybe a mushroom. She thought for sure she'd blend into the water-starved dirt background of the wastelands. Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed as the shrill warning call of a Flying-type revealed her from high above- a direction she rarely thought to look, being a ground-locked Pokemon herself.
And she had feared for good reason. The human's eyes hadn't even seemed to found her yet before he was rashly ordering the Houndour to let loose with a stream of bright orange flame. << SHUCK! >>
However, contrary to that Trainer's belief, a little fire wasn't about to force her into the open for a fight, oh no. She was smarter than that. Instead, she pulled in, WITHDRAWing into her red and white shell with remarkable speed. By the time the flame hit, not an inch of skin was exposed to be burned.
But it was hot, even inside her shell, and she knew that if the human got any closer, or the Houndour attacked again... she'd have to do something.

But as no creature came jumping out, Erik didn't want to take the chance and press forward, not when he couldn't decipher what Pokemon it was exactly he was facing.
Hence the guy addressed his primed and ready Houndour, who stood crouched in battle position, snarling defensively. "Flush it out with an ember Cerberus!" Erik instructed. With a bark, the young female Houndour jumped in the air, her maw wide open as red hot glowing coals were shot at where the sound had been detected by her sharp canine ears.
"Alright, now use another flamethrower!' Erik continued, ever the cautious one. As long as he didn't know what creature it was he was up against, Erik was not about to risk his Houndour by asking her to go for a close range attack, just in case it was something Cerberus wouldn't be able to handle. WILD SHUCKLE APPEARED! [/style] Shuckle || Female || Contrary || Bug & Rock || Level 7 | Withdraw | Constrict | Bide | Rollout | Struggle Bug | Encore |<< Shuckle shuckle shuckle shuckle sh-shuckle. >> Shuckles Bug half was definitely in control as she cowered in the depths of a quickly heating shell, flinching away from the light and heat of fire that reached her through the holes in her shell. It was time to run. Fighting was not an option for this Pokemon, who's entire survival depended solely on her ability to defend.
Unfortunately, any thoughts she had to sticking her head out to get her bearings after the second, weaker Fire-based attack died out, were crushed as right afterward, another powerful stream of flames hit her dead on and began to slow roasting process once again. Shuckle squealed shrilly through the roar of the flames and was spurred into immediatly action.
Senseless in her fear and desire to escape, Shuckle slid into a moderately paced ROLLOUT attack, taking her as fast as she could move out of the Flamethrower's line of fire before she sped up. However, still deep in her shell, she had no idea which direction would take her back home, or at least to safety.
So Shuckle spun wildly out of control, first one way and then another, tearing grooves in the earth and casting dirt and sand all over the place. When she finally regained enough control to straighten her line... she was unknowingly headed right at the human and his Houndour. The last thing she wanted to be headed toward.

But when the red, holed shell finally made its appearance, Erik was stunned for a second when he recognized a shuckle. Oh, was this the thing he had been attacking all along? And here he was expecting a Rhydon or something equally ferocious.
Immediately, Erik felt bad for attacking the poor shy Pokemon, but while the Sableye gijinka wanted to cease fire already, the Shuckle immediately launched in to a rollout attack, and while Erik could not fault the dual type for attacking, he wasn't about to stand by and let Cerbrus get attacked without doing anything right?
"Dodge that Cerberus!" Erik instructed, and the Houndour easily jumped out of the way from the moderate rollout attack. It was only then did the gijinka suddenly realize it was rolling straight for him! Luckily for Erik, the Houndour realized at the same time as well, and knowing full well the consequences should Erik get hurt, Cerberus jumped in to action. Her fangs crackled as she leapt at the shuckle, aiming to close the thunder fang attack around the Shuckle to, if not grab it and shake it away, at least stop it in its tracks so she didn't roll all over Erik [/style] |

WILD SHUCKLE APPEARED! [/style] Shuckle || Female || Contrary || Bug & Rock || Level 7 | Withdraw | Constrict | Bide | Rollout | Struggle Bug | Encore |It was working! No more attacks were coming! It was working! She was escaping! If she had dared slow down and take a breath now that she was out of the fire and on her way to safety, Shuckle might have laughed at her seeming success. And all that relief died as the human shouted out another order, his voice closer to her than it had been before.
<< Shuckle?! >> She was going the wrong way! What was she supposed to do? She didn't battle! She RAN! And she most definitely was not brave enough to stick her head back out of her shell to take a look around.
This decision turned out for the best as Houndour's Thunder Fang attack hit her hard. She barely felt the fangs themselves through her super-hard shell, but the electrical energy that passed right through it and gave her a jolt wasn't as easy to ignore. At least in the Houndour's decision to attack her physically, it meant that he had probably taken injury from her as well.
...Shuckle wasn't calm enough to see the good in that during the moment.
She was shaking, hidden inside her unbreakable shell, and it threw her off the straight line she'd been moving in until she rolled to a stop. But only for the second it took her to regain her wits, then she began to spin into another ROLLOUT. Hopefully, this time, she'd be going the right way.
...
She was not.
OOC: It might take a bit to deal with this Shuckle. She has a VERY high defence, and I'm using battle calculator to be sure. Unless you have something that she's weak against.
Paralyzation failed. Flinch did not.

Whining as she shook her head, Erik frowned at the pain that had shook Cerberus from clamping down on rock hard outer shell.
However, the Houndour was taking no chances, and taking the oppurtunity from the Shuckle being shocked by her attacks, Cerberus immediately ran in for another thunder fang to hopefully stop the rollout even if it did little damage. Doing a backflip as soon as she could stop the attack in its paces, the Houndour mistook the Shuckle going the wrong direction for it aiming for her trainer, and immediately let loose another strong gush of flamethrower, intent on roasting the little shell Pokemon inside its protective outer casing. WILD SHUCKLE APPEARED! [/style] Shuckle || Female || Contrary || Bug & Rock || Level 7 | Withdraw | Constrict | Bide | Rollout | Struggle Bug | Encore |If Shuckle could have pulled deeper into her shell, she would have. Why was she being picked on?! Why wouldn't they just let her go? She'd never hurt anyone or anything! It hadn't occured to her yet, that, because she was too afraid to peek outside her shell and get her bearings, and thus was getting a little too close to the human in her failed attempts to escape, she could have been appearing the aggressor.
Grinding along, and getting very dizzy, Shuckle again found her potential escape twarted as 'something'- the fang of a protective Houndour- struck her shell and bounced her back. << SHUCKLE! >> She cried out as she spun away, and for a second, became stuck in the dirt she'd impacted. By the time the Flamethrower attack hit, she was rolling again- through the fire and straight at her attacker, for the first time, actually going on the offensive, if only out of desperation. ROLLOUT.
OOC: I'm unsure if you're dodging or not. There's a 10% chance to miss with the Rollout attack, but not every one can be avoided, and remember it gets more powerful every turn. And keep in mind Houndour's weakness to Rock attacks. BUT, Shuckle should be going down next post.

Cerberus was quite sure she and Erik had just been trekking peacefully along... well, until Erik had made her attack anyway. But thats just a precautionary measure anyway! So now they were faced with an adamant Shuckle, and truth be told the Houndour was getting quite winded from trying to dodge all those rollouts.
So was it surprising that when the Shuckle suddenly came rolling towards her through her pillar of flamethrower, the Houndour completely missed the attack and was sent flying, yipping as she was knocked off and landed heavily on her side, sustaining heavy damage. "Cerberus!" Erik yelled loudly when the smoke had cleared and the Sableye gijinka could finally see that his Houndour had gotten damage. Nevertheless though, the plucky thing was stubborn, and barked as she jumped on to her feet again, refusing to give up.
Jumping up, the Houndour let out a barrage of ember at the Shuckle, her fury now palpable from the ferocious way she attacks despite Erik's worried looks. But as passive as he was, Erik was not stupid enough to command his Pokemon to stop, knowing danger when he saw it. [/style] |

WILD SHUCKLE APPEARED! [/style] Shuckle || Female || Contrary || Bug & Rock || Level 7 | Withdraw | Constrict | Bide | Rollout | Struggle Bug | Encore |Shuckle was so tired, due in no small part to her own method of 'attack', which wasn't that great for a Pokemon that had focused most of her life on defending rather than offending. So she couldn't see why the human and his fire pup wouldn't let her be. What had she done to deserve all of this?
The success of her Rollout attack was barely felt, so tired and injured was Shuckle that her senses had dulled. She did however hear the cry of pain from the Houndour, and felt a moment's regret, and began to slow herself... hoping that maybe it was over. << Shuuuckle? >> She wasn't about to stick her head out to take a look, but she did raise her voice high enough so that her attackers would hear it and hold their attacks.
No suck luck. Blazing Ember attacks fell around her now still body, and Shuckle shrieked in surprise... but couldn't force herself into another spinning attack. Her shell made her an incredibly defended Pokemon, but that could only last so long with the almost constant stream of fire that had been thrown at her. It was over, and little Shuckle remained absolutely still in her shell until the flames receeded.
When they did, only her head rolled out on a long yellow neck, and nothing else. Her eyes were closed, her breathing shallow, and her skin covered in sweat. She would put up no more fight.
SHUCKLE HAS BEEN DEFEATED!
SHUCKLE IS AVALIABLE FOR CAPTURE!
