To the right, to the left, we will fight to the death TO THE EDGE OF THE EARTH [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
So it wasn't exactly the cheeriest place to go looking for pokemon. It was still a good place. He was sure that caves would hold plenty of pokemon of all types. He didn't much care for the darkness of them. Still, it was hardly a bother--not to him, anyhow. With a torch in hand, he could see just fine. Even if it went out, he would be in no real trouble...
Using Ember to light things was something he'd gotten quite good at. As an arcanine gijinka, fire was his specialty. He loved fire, even though it was dangerous. He loved the warmth of the flames, and watching them. It didn't make him like water any less, even though he was quite aware that just like a pokemon, he would be most susceptible to any attacks that came from water pokemon or water type gijinka. He still adored swimming, and wondered if perhaps the real arcanine did, too. He couldn't see why not. Unlike charizard or any of its pre-evolution stages, arcanine had no visible flame anywhere on them. They were big, though. And fast. Something he prided himself on was his speed. Using a move like Extremespeed? Made him even faster.
He liked the way the firelight from the torch played on the rocky cave walls. He'd entered the cave system only about twenty minutes ago, taking his time to look around, and to mark his way on the map he was making. It wouldn't do to get himself lost in here. He wasn't stupid, and he'd brought a few day's supplies like he was told he might want to do. So he'd be all right--for a few days. He still had no real desire to get himself lost in the confusing tunnels. In the dark, though he had enough to make more than this single torch he held now. Torches such as he had lasted a long time, besides.
He could hear water dripping, slowly, from cracks in the cave roof somewhere. The consistent, slow and melodic sound was nice. A pokemon in here probably had everything it needed. Maybe even food of some kind? Water and shelter, surely. He could see how many might want to hide in here, or simply take up residence. He might not have been fond of darkness--or not overfond. But there were plenty of places where slender cracks allowed sunlight to filter in, some places enough to light up caverns. It was beautiful. There were duller, darker and plainer sections. But the ones where the limestone or other rocks glittered, or stalagmites hung from the roof? Well, those made this venture more worth it, almost, than what he was after today.
Armed with pokedex, pokeballs and some potions, he was pretty sure he'd get lucky and find something. Something he wanted to take with him...that was another matter. Still, he needed the experience, and he didn't mind seeing pokemon he had no intent to battle or catch, either. Pokemon were always pretty fascinating, especially in their native environments. Not all were eager to meet humans, but that was fine by him. So long as he didn't meet anything too big and unfriendly in here, he should be okay to fend for himself.

WILD SPINARAK APPEARED! [/style] spinarak || male || swarm || bug/poison || level 6 poison string || string shot || scary faceSpinarak liked the darness and the cave's gentle cold that was enveloping everything inside it. He didn't really miss the outside, since it was too polluted for his liking out there. Here, the caves were at least clean, though sometime a bit stuffy. Spinarak wasn't much bothered by that, though, so he was always okay inside the cave.
He was resting on the rocky walls when a strong light coming from a torch beamed at him. "Spiii, spiii!" He screeched at the source, not at all pleased by the fact that fire was somewhere nearby, not to mention it was lighting up the side of the cave where he attempted to rest a bit. He turned toward the approaching threat to glare at the human coming his way, not at all pleased by the events. "Narak, spiii, spiii!" He would attack this person if he saw that they moved in to initiate a battle. Oh, he hated fire so much!

Damon's torch finally found a pokemon, but instead of on the path, the pokemon startled him by calling irately from the wall. It appeared to be a bug type--spinerak? He actually rather thought it a good type, but there were no bug types on the team he hoped to get. Still, he needed a pokemon and here was one that he certainly thought had merit. It seemed upset at being disturbed. In fact, it was all but telling him off! Brazen little thing, wasn't it?
The arcanine gijinka moved the torch back a little, deciding on his next course of action. Well, if he had a pokemon on him, he'd battle the spinerak. So, might as well--and he knew exactly what bug type pokemon were weak against: his type.
Concentrating, he focused so that his speed would be greater with Agility, a handy move, especially for following or keeping up with pokemon in this place. Then, without warning, he opened his mouth, and sent out a powerful jet of scorching flames in a Flamethrower attack. Standing right in front of the spinerak, he hoped it would engulf it. Fire type moves against bugs worked quite well. He really didn't like the fact that pokemon had to be forced to join a human--or gijinka--but he had already irritated the pokemon. Chances were if it wasn't happy to see him to begin with, it wasn't just going to agree to play nice and come along with him. Still it worked on some kinds. He would remember that if he ran into anything amiable.
He knew that spinerak could poison, much like weedle could. He didn't need that and that was another part of why he'd raised his speed--to evade that if it should happen. If the poor little bug type lasted long enough. Maybe he should have used another move, but better to not prolong things on it, right? He didn't really like the idea of biting the bug type. It was kind of nasty to think about--but he wasn't above or beyond that, if need be. He doubted he'd need to. He had fire type moves and other moves besides, that he could use before something like that. He narrowed his eyes, waiting, and watching, to see what would happen. He didn't let his stance go lax. The pokemon might still have the ability to fight. He was prepared for that.

WILD SPINARAK APPEARED! [/style] spinarak || male || swarm || bug/poison || level 6 poison string || string shot || scary faceFire! Be damned, fire and fire users! Spinarak hated it, and if he could, he would avoid it at all cost! But the person in front of him was faster, and he knew he wouldn't be able to avoid the hit. He was shocked to see someone who looked like a human breath fire on him, and that shock also prevented his movements. He was done for.
Fire enveloped his form, it scorched his being, his skin burning under the ferocious attak of the Flamethrower. Darkness hit him, the cave lulling into a shadow again as he lost consciousness and fell to the ground, the smell of burned skin lingering in the area.
SPINARAK FAINTED! SPINARAK IS AVAILABLE FOR CAPTURE! OOC: Yep, that was pretty much a OHKO. Poor bug. But it is okay, I torched 3 bugs separately in one turn on another forum. WILD MANKEY APPEARED! [/style] mankey || male || vital spirit || fighting || level 5 covet || scratch || low kick || leer || focus energyHe could smell something bad. And it annoyed him to no end. Mankey had a sensitive nose, and it definitely felt like something was burnt not far away from his spot. That meant something was here, and was making a fuss. And that annoyed him more.
Following the scent to make sure to punish whoever that dared to enter the cave, Mankey saw the human with a torch, as well as the source of the burnt smell - the fainted Spinarak. So it was this human! He wouldn't allow him to run away without a fight!
Monkey raised his fists to Focus his Energy, pumping himself up for the fight. Oh yes, he liked to fight, and this will turn out to be one as well. He didn't care if it was a regular human or not, a fight was still a fight. He rushed at the human with agile movements and raised a leg to give him a Low Kick right at his shin. This human made the mistake of annoying him, with his presence only.

Damon knew bug types weren't so great with fire. So it came as no surprise that the poor Spinerak was completely obliterated by the unexpected attack. He took out his pokeball and tapped the burnt bug pokemon gently, sighing. As he went to get up, however, he was unexpectedly attacked himself!
It got him in the shin, and it hurt like hell. Whatever it was, he never got the chance to see it. He tried to right himself, and fell against the wall. He whirled around and gave a Roar, having meant to do something else entirely. Whatever it was, he'd never get the chance to find out, now. Damn him! That wasn't what he'd meant to do at all! He grimaced and stood up, bending over to rub his leg, but keeping his back to the wall. What kind of pokemon had that been? He hadn't even seen, just caught a glimpse of what looked like light colored fur. Now, as he stood up, he felt the dull throb in his leg. That would bruise, no doubting it. He had one pokemon in the ball, though, as it were. And he was used to being hit with a staff, which was about as painful as that kick if he were hit hard. Still, it didn't feel nice at all.
Second thinking, he took his collapsible metal staff, the only human weapon he carried--and the most effective--from his back. There was no rule saying he couldn't use it as much as an attack. Besides, he had a faster reaction time and could hopefully prevent himself being harmed again out of the blue like that. Turnabout was fair play, though. Just as he'd attacked Spinerak, so he'd likewise been attacked. Now, he smirked wryly, and picked up his fallen torch from the ground. Best to keep moving, and the ache of the kick would dull.

WILD SPINARAK APPEARED! [/style] spinarak || male || swarm || bug/poison || level 6 poison string || string shot || scary faceSPINARAK WAS CAPTURED! WILD MANKEY APPEARED! [/style] mankey || male || vital spirit || fighting || level 5 covet || scratch || low kick || leer || focus energyHowever pumped up he was, however ready for a battle he was, that roar was something he rarely heard from anything that looked human! He didn't stop to connect another attack or see what damage his first one did, Mankey just turned around and run, run into the deepest corners of the cave.
MANKEY FLED! WILD GIBLE APPEARED! [/style] gible || male || sand veil || dragon/ground || level 7 tackle || sand attack || dragon rageHe was so bored! Gible was patroling around the caves just to ease his boredom, since there wasn't anything he would be doing right at that moment. He needed excitement, he needed adventure, he just... needed to get out of the caves and explore the big world! He was living for the moment and for the excitement he could get from battles, or picking a fight with stronger opponents, but he knew it wasn't enough. He wanted to see more, experience more, and eventually, turn into a big and powerful dragon, that can be feared by others.
That is when he heared a roar, and saw a Mankey run past him. Oh, just what could have happened? It was as if something big and powerful appeared, that could make a fighting type run away. Did he want to check it out? Of course he did!
When he get closer to the source of the previous roar and saw the human, Gible smirked. Oh, he understood now. It was one of those weird humans who had the power of his kin. So interesting. He jumped out from behind a rock that was blocking him from the human and yelled at him. "Gible!" And then, pointed a claw toward him.

He heard something before he saw it. When he did see it, he recognized it instantly. Not the dragon pokemon he would have been hoping to find, necessarily--yet a dragon type nonetheless! Gible was a really decent pokemon, if he did say so himself. Though it was pointing at itself, as though to make an introduction! Damon was amused, but not too surprised. Pokemon were as distinct as people, after all.
He pointed to himself, and then said,
"Damon." With a smile he shoved the torch into a crevice in the cave wall, so that he could better interact with the pokemon. He leaned up against the rocky face of the wall near the torch, wondering exactly what the dragon-type was about. Introductions made, he figured he might as well do what he would do with any individual: make conversation.
"So you live here? Seems like a safe enough place to be. Not very exciting though, considering. Darker than I'd like it. Do you ever get outside into the sun?" Some pokemon understood, some not. Dragon types were notoriously smart, though, in his own experience. He rather liked them. Obviously he had an affinity for fire types. Still, barring that, dragon were pretty darn awesome. He watched the gible, the torchlight making it perfectly clear to see--that and his enhanced vision. It hadn't been this good since the DNA transfusion. Arcanine had better eyes to see in the dark with.
He might not have been so set on gible, but he knew it was a popular pokemon. He knew why: garchomp was an awesome force to reckon with. He'd met them before, with other trainers. No one messed with a well trained garchomp. Not unless they had something equally formidable to bring to the table, as it were. He imagined a pokemon so bold as this one could be raised to be a fine pokemon for anyone to contend with.

WILD GIBLE APPEARED! [/style] gible || male || sand veil || dragon/ground || level 7 tackle || sand attack || dragon rageGible rolled his eyes as the person introduced themselves and started talking. He didn’t mean his previous yell as an introduction – pokemon were always saying their own name, since that was their language, unlike the humans who were communicating by different words. True, some of the psychic types were able to talk and understand the human language more, but he wasn’t one. So he only had his name.
He wasn’t one for talking either. He wasn’t bothered by the darkness, and this cave could be exciting enough when some vicious pokemon showed up. The sun is okay too. Of course he does go out from time to time. This place tends to get stinky after a while, so why wouldn’t he? But he felt the chatting was growing useless. This person wouldn’t understand whatever he said anyway, so why bother? He wanted to have fun instead.
Not even waiting for the person to finish his speech, Gible rushed in suddenly and kicked the dust on the cave floor up or a Sand-Attack. After that, he rushed to the other side of the human to let out a powerful beam of Dragon Rage. Enough talking already. He wasn’t here for that.

He hadn't been expecting the pokemon to just randomly start a battle with him. Was that all it had wanted to begin with? As the pokemon kicked up the first attack, his visibility was completely ruined. He fully expected an attack through it, and threw himself to the ground just in time. He might have looked like a total and complete idiot, but it did save his hide. Hands over his head, he could almost feel the attack go over top of him. He coughed, the sand closer to the ground being even worse than over top. Plus, he still couldn't see the blasted pokemon through it!
He used Agility, since he could at least use that particular move without having to move from his spot. That allowed the gible's sand attack to settle just enough for him to make out its shape, and he didn't hesitate for a moment the second he thought it visible. He let loose a Flamethrower attack, kneeling and preparing to roll out of the way and to his feet if need be. His eyes stung a little, but there was no time to do more than blink furiously to try and clear them. Sneaky pokemon! If it had wanted a battle it could have at least not kicked a bunch of sand in his face!
He wasn't sure what gible would do next. He only hoped his flamethrower had given it a nice little surprise in return for its own. The only good thing about these caves was that fire lit them up like nothing else, and there was a smaller battling area, so he could use that to his advantage. An idea struck him, but he would have to wait to be sure of the pokemon's position to try it out. In the meantime, he readied himself for whatever gible decided to do next.

WILD GIBLE APPEARED! [/style] gible || male || sand veil || dragon/ground || level 7 tackle || sand attack || dragon rageHe was delighted to see that his Sand-Attack worked. With this, Gible gained a small advantage over the situation, even though the opponent lucked out at avoiding his attack. Even if the attack settled, sand may still go in the eye of the opponent to hinder him just a little bit so Gible can gain some evasion.
He wasn’t expecting an attack so soon though, so the Flamethrower caught him by surprise. He fell back, his side and one arm scorched by the fire, hissing slightly at the pain. Gee, this hurt, even if he was strong against fire.
He jumped back and away from the boy, as well as away from the torch, the current source of light, and he was keeping his distance from the walls too, for now. Seeing the boy move, Gible rushed closer to attack him with a Dragon Rage again, and without skipping a beat, he wanted to follow up the attack with a Tackle, in case the boy attempted to evade the previous one. He had to admit, he was having fun with this fight.

He figured he could avoid an attack, and for a moment, as Gible used Dragon Rage and he made to leap to the side to avoid it, he thought he had. Only he didn't anticipate the Gible being so quick to attack again. He was hit in the ass by a hard Tackle, and it sent him flying to the ground on his stomach, momentarily winded. Grimacing, he quickly tried standing, only to stumble against the wall, trying to breathe. He knew he didn't have time to just stand there and regain his breath. Yet he couldn't use Flamethrower like this. Or any other attacks that required him to breathe much for that matter. So he resorted to something else, breathing in and out as best he could in the meantime.
He didn't really have many attacks that didn't require doing something involving biting or flaming. Such a disadvantage. Yet he was going to have to do what he could, regardless. He used Agility. It would help him move quicker, and he needed that right now, badly. Then, he raised the hand not clutching his stomach, and it began to glow a hot, fiery red, as did the rest of him. He used Heat Wave. He knew fire attacks weren't particularly strong against Gible, but they were most of what he had. He had to use this. He had a plan for his next move, but he needed to stall.
He could feel his breathing steadying, and he stood up now without aid of the wall. He breathed in through his nose and exhaled through his mouth, steady on his feet now. He had to win this one, it was far too easy a battle with the last pokemon and he knew he could do this. Sure most of his moves were fire moves, but he had a couple others. Those others were going to be his trump cards. Fire was great, unless the pokemon was strong against it. Even persistence had won battles, and he was nothing if not. He winced. His ass hurt.

WILD GIBLE APPEARED! [/style] gible || male || sand veil || dragon/ground || level 7 tackle || sand attack || dragon rageGible couldn’t hold in a small chuckle as his attack hit the human right in the ass and made him sprawl out on the cave’s floor. He looked hilarious like that, and he couldn’t help it! But due to this, he couldn’t get ready for the next attack coming from the human. If this person wasn’t that quick, he wouldn’t have a problem, but his speed was increasing as the battle was going on, so he couldn’t avoid the Heat Wave. The fire scorched his other side, and hurt a little bit more than the other one, as it got a good chunk of his body.
Clicking his tongue in pain Gible jumped back, but only for a moment before going closer to the human again. Skidding on the ground to kick dust up around them, he used Sand-Attack again to further hinder the human’s sight. While he was still close to see the boy, he opened his mouth to let out another beam of massive Dragon Rage, but cautiously jumped back after that. He had to be careful, because he wouldn’t be able to take too much more hits, and he didn’t want to go down that easily. It would hurt his pride greatly.

Damon was fortunately facing away from the sand attack this time. Otherwise, he would have gotten an eyeful. Still, when he looked over, all he could see was a mist of sand, and took a few steps back. Not enough to avoid the next attack though, coming quite suddenly through the sand. He cursed as he was hit on the side by part of the attack. So he might have not gotten it full on, but he'd still gotten a part of it, and damn it was unpleasant! He was pretty ticked off that he'd already been knocked flat on his face, pretty much. Who wouldn't be?
Gible's mistake was coming forward enough to attack him, and he didn't hesitate. He used Agility again, and then moving nearly too fast to see, ExtremeSpeed. He was hoping to slam the gible right into the wall, and get in a good, hard hit! If not, he'd have to try again, but at least he'd be on the opposite side of the sand attack, and even faster than before. At this rate, his speed would be fast enough to evade better and attack better. The gible would be hard pressed to land hits so easily! He was trying to ignore the stinging sensation from the dragon rage attack. He could ignore it for now, and it would fade away hopefully, after the battle. If not he could always apply something to it--even a potion if need be. In the meantime, he was not going to let it hinder him! He had a battle to win, and he meant to see it won.
"Give up yet?" He asked, sweat beading on his forehead. He could feel it beginning. Most likely it was as much from the fire attacks he'd used as the fact the battle wasn't exactly easy. Either way, he was hoping gible was feeling it too.

WILD GIBLE APPEARED! [/style] gible || male || sand veil || dragon/ground || level 7 tackle || sand attack || dragon rageOf course, with boosted speed like that, and with the fastest ever move used by pokemon, Gible had no chance for an evasion. He was hit before he could see what was happening, the air kicked out of his lungs, vision going blank for a moment from the force. Barely, but he was still hanging to consciousness, refusing to give in that easily.
"Gib, gible." He smirked at the human’s question. Give up? Not in seven hell. If this human wanted him, he would have to make him faint. True, one last hit would probably take him out at this rate, but Gible wouldn’t just give himself up that easily. Opening his mouth once for a last Dragon Rage attack, he fired the beam at the human, not expecting it to hit the target anymore. It was his last move of defiance, and he knew the human’s next move would also be the last for him.

Gible looked just about done in. Yet it still seemed to have something to 'say' about giving in, and then shot another attack at him--one which was completely off target. The Dragon Rage attack shot past him quite a few feet away, he didn't even have to move to avoid it. It seemed that his opponent couldn't even aim a straight attack at this point. Well, he'd make an end of this, then, and capture gible! It was a really worthy pokemon, he could still feel the hits it had made. He would need to sit down after this...
He didn't have time to think on it though. For better measure, he used Leer, and then rushed forward, still made super fast by his many uses of Agility, and used Reversal. With how weak gible was, it ought to do maximum damage at this point. He felt a little bad, but it was better to have done with it and capture it so it could rest up, than to do anything which might prolong the battle when the pokemon looked so spent and sore already.
Once the attack was used, he took a few steps back, and placed a hand at his side where his pokeballs were. Spinerak had been an easy capture. Gible was nothing like that, though. He was hoping to sit down a moment somewhere after this. At least catch his breath, and see if he needed to use a potion on himself or not to heal the damages done. Still, it never hurt to be wary...he was ready in case gible tried anything else, and ready to toss his pokeball if not.
