Congratulations! Rhyhorn and Buneary have been caught! WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Pansear || Male || Gluttony || Fire || 05 Scratch || Leer || - - - || - - - || There were soft sounds, mostly quiet and unobtrusive, coming from high up in a rather dead looking tree not too far from where Lokian was. Up in that tree sat a bright red monkey, picking quietly at his fur to get rid of any bits of fur or dirt that made him gross looking. The Pansear was an expert at keeping himself clean and keeping the things around him clean as well. His tree, though it was long dead, happened to look rather neat compared to all the other trees in the area.
The fire type looked up, staring over the horizon. There had been a scuffle down there between a Rhyhorn and a human and his Buneary earlier, but now it seemed to have stopped and the Rhyhorn was nowhere in sight. Ah, so the human and his little rabbit won then? The Pansear made soft chuckling noises to himself, continuing to preen his bright red and orange fur as he watched the human from a distance.

Lokian spotted the monkey like pokemon watching him, but kept on walking. That wasn't a fire type he was interested in capturing, and he'd just as soon rather avoid a battle than get into one with the pokemon. He had rhyhorn and buneary with him. He wanted to keep his pokeballs and battles for pokemon he might actually be interested in keeping on his team. The buneary was a bit of a conundrum. He didn't have any normal types on his team list yet. But he really had hoped to get the kinds he wanted, and yet he couldn't leave her behind. Trading center it was, then? He'd protected her and would do so again, but what now? Well, he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.
This place was so damn dry. Not a wonder any not so tough pokemon that didn't have a trainer would not want to be here. It was a place for tougher pokemon, or those that were capable. It wasn't an easy place to call home. Most of them might just be passing through. But he bet that the rhyhorn wasn't. She'd been tough as, well, a rock. He smirked, and continued walking. The ground was dry, and dusty. There wasn't a lot of foliage, but what there was looked tough, too. Dense shrubs, hardy trees that stood alone or in small clusters...it was an interesting, if not harsh, place.
He headed for a tree, and stopped, taking a water bottle from the side pocket of his knapsack and unscrewing the lid to take a drink. It was dry here, too. Probably the pansear had felt right at home...hot, dry...fire pokemon liked that, didn't they? Maybe not all, but surely some. He could see ground and rock pokemon liking it fine too. He sighed, putting the lid back on and putting the water bottle back. How many pokeballs had he left? A few. He stood under the tree, in the shade, and looked out over the ground. What kind of pokemon would he meet next?

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || ”Ruff… Ruff… Ruffle.” The small, quiet chirping seemed to bounce from one place to another, hopping around bush to bush. The little chick scratched the bone dry ground, seeking some bugs or perhaps a rogue seed to eat. This was definitely a harsh place to be, especially for a little chick like him, but he’d survived here all his life and didn’t have a problem at all. In fact, the Rufflet seemed to like it here; it was his home and had been since he first hatched. Of course, he was out of the nest now and independent, but he was still little.
But up ahead, the little bird spotted a human. The human was leaning against a tree, seeming to think about something far off. What was that human doing here? He certainly didn’t belong in an environment like this, and so the little Rufflet began hopping over. Oh wait, what were those by his feet? A little closer and he saw what looked like worms attached to his shoes. Ah, now that would be an interesting snack, now would it?
”Rufflet!” The little bird hopped over and began pecking at the ground around the human’s feet, snatching up one of the ‘worms’ attached to his shoes and began to pull.

Loki was whistling cheerily, pleased with the exciting battle he'd just won against the rhyhorn, and still debating what to do with his two newly caught pokemon. That's when his luck skyrocketed right through the roof. He could hardly believe it. It was...Arceus it was a rufflet. Of all the pokemon in the entirety of the world, he was staring at the one that evolved into braviary. His dream pokemon. The one he thought would take forever to find. And there it was, it was pecking his shoelace. His eyes were wide, and the unbelieving grin was plastered across his face idiotically. He was dreaming. He had to be. Who got this lucky?
What was it doing? It registered that the little pokemon was picking at the shoelace, like it was trying to eat it. He chuckled, full of elation and sheer disbelief. Maybe it was hungry? He had just the thing for it! He had jerky. Delightful, tasty, meat. Better than any shoelace! He reached into his pocket carefully, and ever so carefully reached a hand down, a wormy looking piece of jerky in his hand.
"Heeey, little guy. You are a sight for sore eyes! You hungry?" He was beaming, so delighted. A rufflet. The pokemon of his dreams--almost. They took a lot of battling before they were strong enough to evolve. But Arceus they were so worth it. What other pokemon could lift a car like it was a toy? They battled like warriors. They were, to him, warriors like no other. Brave, powerful...oh he could just see it now! Delighted, he watched, kneeling a little against the tree.
"You are the most amazing pokemon in the world, you know that?" He told it, beaming from ear to ear. With rufflet, then braviary, at his side, he could do anything! He could imagine the two of them, fighting battles, through thick and thin. True comrades! He hadn't been this excited in...forever. Not even the idea of a gijinka fight got him this worked up! Rufflet was small, a little thing. This one looked really young. It would take time, but he would keep this pokemon on his shoulder and carry it until it was big enough to carry him, and they would be the most amazing team ever. His mind ran on and on with these thoughts, he was definitely psyched. Karma? Maybe. For helping buneary? He believed in karma, totally! Karma always won out.
"You and me could be the most amazing trainer and pokemon team in the world," he said to it, and then, "with me by your side, I'd make sure you grew up into a braviary that the world over would respect, little guy!" He said this as if he completely believed this to be true: and he did. His favorite pokemon...what were the chances?

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || ”Ruff… Ruff… Ruffle.” The little bird continued to chirp, scratching and pecking around at the ground and at the man’s shoelaces, hoping to pick up some seeds or bugs or maybe a worm. He was hungry, though not too much so. Better to feed oneself before one was starving, his mother always told him before he’d left the nest. Ah yes, he’d go find some food as soon as he was feeling even the littlest bit peckish.
He just barely noticed when something was suddenly waved in his face by the human. Darn human, interfering with his affairs. The Rufflet looked up and was just about to start chirping wildly at him to leave him alone when he saw what he was actually waving around. It looked like a really, really dried up worm, but a worm nonetheless. Before he knew it, the Rufflet hopped up, grabbed the dry looking thing and gobbled it down without a second thought. His mother might’ve said something about his manners, but she wasn’t here, now was she?
Now the chick stared at the human and his endless chittering. ”Ruff?” Do you have any more? A small wag of his feathery tail. This human may have talked a lot, but he was providing food.

At first, the rufflet didn't even appear to notice him there. It continued its assault on his poor shoelace, and ignored what he was offering it. Yet a moment later, it seemed to see what was in front of it. And there it was, and there it went.
Now the rufflet was looking at him, and posing what seemed to him like almost a question. Well, it had eaten what he'd offered...so maybe it wanted more? Well, he supposed it couldn't hurt to feed it. Maybe it would be his pokemon and he would be feeding it all the time! He knew that could get expensive, but at least trainers got their government type wages, right? Plus whatever they found ways to make on the side, or what their parents or work gave them...there were also free supplies at the labs and centers and stuff. It wasn't so bad. That in mind, he removed a couple more pieces of jerky, and offered rufflet another. How he did love his jerky! He had planned on eating some later, and there was a lot of it. Still, watching it disappear so quickly made his mouth water!
"Pretty darn good, huh?" He asked it, holding another piece out. Meanwhile, his other hand removed the little watering dish. He'd given buneary some water, and there didn't appear to be a whole lot of water here at all. Maybe rufflet was thirsty, too? He knew rufflet could fly, though not nearly as well as braviary. Or even a lot of other pokemon. This one looked really young, too. Knowing what it could turn into, it was almost amusing. It wasn't very big right now. Not in the least. A far cry from the evolved form, which could lift him up so easily it wasn't even funny. There probably wasn't many pokemon, for that matter, it couldn't lift! Right now, it didn't even stand at two feet tall. He knew bird types tended to be lighter in weight and judged this one, as young as it looked, to be maybe a foot tall and perhaps ten to fifteen pounds. Maybe less than? It again looked young, maybe even fresh out of the nest! How perfectly exciting!
He wasn't sure exactly what the pokemon was thinking, other than that it was hungry, by the looks of it. He put down the water dish, which he'd managed to put more water in, even one handed. Yep, he had mad skills! He recapped the bottle, watching rufflet and pondering. Would he have to battle it for it to come with him? Maybe it liked the food enough to do so? Or maybe it would decide to come along for other reasons? He didn't know, but one way or another he meant for it to be his first and main pokemon partner! At any or all costs, too. His favorite pokemon of all time? Definitely this was no mere coincidence. This was destiny at work. He was sure of it.

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || The little feathered Pokemon wagged his single-feather tail, waiting for more food and practically jumping and chirping to ask for more. Whatever he gave him had definitely not been a worm, but it was tasty enough and filled his belly just as well. He was a growing Rufflet, after all, and he needed sustenance just as well as any other young Pokemon. Soon enough, there was another piece danging just beyond his beack.
”Ruff!” The blue chick jumped and quickly snapped it up in his beak, swollowing it up in one single gulp. He was still a bit hungry, but the human was now pouring something into a dish... water. The environment itself was dry, sure, and the Rufflet began to peck at the liquid, tossing his head back to gulp some down. Ah, but now that he was feeling better about what was in his belly, he was off to do some more interesting things.
Turning away from the human, seeking adventure, he began to hop around, scratching at the roots of trees and rocks and pecking at the leaves of bushes. There was lots to discover here... he just needed to look.

So far, so good. Rufflet took the food and then began to drink the water. He watched and waited, feeling as though there were butterfree fluttering around inside his stomach. Okay, so now what? Well, now it was walking away...away?! He didn't want it to leave. So he did the only thing he could think of. He followed it.
He walked alongside the Rufflet, watching it. It had eaten, it had drank, and it was now just ambling along. He really didn't want to have to attack it. He wanted it to come with him, not because it was knocked unconscious or hurt. Yet it might come to that. If it wasn't of a mind to come with him, he might just have to make it come with him. That kind of sucked. Still, he was going to at least wait until it was either going to come with him or tried to leave in a manner that would force him to stop it.
He guessed it figured he was there, had fed it and watered it, and now it was going to just go its merry way. Well, not without him! He decided to try talking to it, just so it knew that he was at least trying to communicate.
"Don't leave, Rufflet. It'd blow if I had to make you stay. But I will, you know. We're going to be a team, like it or not!" His eyes took on a confident, determined look. You did what you had to to get pokemon you wanted on your team. He pondered a quick and non-miss move that would ensure that Rufflet could be effectively attacked and a battle initiated. Well, he did have one or two that were sure to do that. Still, he didn't favor resorting to it. He'd rather do this the more friendly, peaceful way.

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || The little chick continued to scratch around in the dirt, hopping in and out of bushes to find something interesting to do. After a little while, however, he felt like he was being trailed and turned to see the human close behind him. The Rufflet narrowed his eyes, glaring up at the human before continuing on his way. The human had fed him and watered him, and now he was done with him.
Deciding to lose the human once and for all, the Rufflet up and jumped into a bush, worming his way deep between the branches and under the leaves to blend in and hide. The human wasn’t going to go digging around for him, was he? If not, then he’d just run and hide again and again until said human gave up.

Lokian frowned as the Rufflet went to hide in a small bush. Was that to be the way of it, then? Well, if that was how he wanted to play it, then Loki would play that little 'game' with him. He didn't want the Rufflet fleeing him, running off to hide somewhere far less accessible than the tiny bush. So he sighed, scratching the back of his head, feeling a little sorry it had to come to battle. Still, if it did, it did. He wasn't going to let Rufflet leave.
"Okay, if that's how you want to play it, let's play!" He told it, and then promptly used Smog, enveloping the small bush in thick, purple and smoggy air. Then, because he couldn't see as well as he'd like to have done, he used Faint Attack. He needed Rufflet to get the point, and the never missing attack would do just that. He prepped himself, going over his moves in his mind. He would capture Rufflet, one way or the other! He had a good slew of moves he intended to use to make sure of it.
He knew he could, at the present time, do this battle better than buneary, and rhyhorn, who might have done well, was down and out for the count. He had himself, and only himself. That was just fine by him! The flying type wasn't strong against the dark and fire type. If he had to fry himself a birdy to catch himself a birdy, he was going to do it. He felt a little bad at the moves he had in mind for the Rufflet. Unlike the rhyhorn, it was something he hoped to form a good relationship with off the get go. He would probably be willing to trade rhyhorn for something he needed in his team to balance it out. He had the types picked and everything, it was just a matter of getting them! Onix was his favorite rock type, after all. With that in mind, he also didn't know what to do with the cute buneary. He might keep it with him a while, until he found someone nice. He could feel the crackling in his mouth already. The poor rufflet was in for a nasty surprise...

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || The small bird Pokemon was hiding out in his bush, hoping that the human would go away, but he had no such luck. At first everything was alright, but all the sudden, a thick, disgusting smelling cloud began to float between the leaves. ”Ruff!” The Rufflet snuffed in protest, shaking his head and beginning to wiggle about in the bush. Ah, this wasn’t so nice at all. In fact, that strange purple smoke was downright nasty.
He wiggled some more, just about to jump out of the bush when the human seemed to do that work for him. Next thing he knew, he was hit by a feint attack, knocking him right out from the twigs and landing hard on the dusty ground. He chirped in anger, jumping back onto his feet and glaring at the human furiously. Fine, if the human wouldn’t leave him alone, he’d have to make him leave him alone! Raking his claws on the dusty ground first to say he meant business, the Rufflet charged forward with a fury attack.

The rufflet gave him plenty of warning that it was about to attack--its mistake. He readied himself and as it came charging at him head on, he quickly as possible dodged the attack--by jumping over it. It was small, after all, and though he knew better than to not take a pokemon seriously based on size, he at least wasn't about to ignore that advantage. He used Nasty Plot, and then from behind inhaled sharply, exhaling a blazing hot Inferno attack. If it hit, the little bird-looking pokemon would be burned. If not? He was willing to try something else, or try again!
He was at least glad that one way or the other, he would get a chance to capture rufflet. He wasn't too psyched it meant a battle. He had five pokeballs left to him, and he hadn't a single pokemon yet he meant to keep for himself. This one would be enough to keep him happy for a long time though, until he found yet another. Rufflet was worth this battle! He didn't think that most pokemon in the wild who were at their first evolutionary stage had a whole lot of attacks. None he'd ever encountered had. He could be wrong, though, and he was prepared for whatever came at him. He wouldn't be able to dodge every attack and he knew that he needed to be prepped to take whatever rufflet had to dish out.
He took a few steps back, wary now. It had given too much warning of the prior attack, allowing for him to get out of the way. Yet it might not do that every time, or even again at all. He needed to think fast and move faster. He had a good idea of the attacks that would work best. He did have an electric attack that would do nicely...if it hit. He planted his feet, resting lightly on the balls. Five pokeballs, and one was meant for this rufflet!
It was dry and dusty, and there wasn't much besides scrub brush around here. Few trees, very sparse, and more boulders than anything else. None of it made for advantageous usage in battle. The lone bush that rufflet had selected to 'hide' in was not very impressive, and besides it was now all smoggy there. Still, he would be alert to anything he could use to better his chances here.

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || The little bird was so close... but the damn human managed to jump right over him and his attack, landing behind him with a faint but audible thud. The Rufflet snarled, whirling on his two thin feet and just about to charge again when he saw the human open his mouth... Oh, now that couldn't be good. As swiftly as he was able, the Rufflet hit the deck, pressing his small body against the ground as a whirling blaze hurdled over him, no doubt singeing some tail feathers while he was at it.
The little bird was furious.
"Rufflet!" He cried in anger, puffing up his feathers once again before charging into another reckless fury attack.

He'd managed to piss the little bird pokemon off. It looked like it had managed to flatten itself to the ground, taking advantage of his own height in the same way he had taken advantage of it. He thought that was pretty damn cool. What wasn't cool was the retaliation. In the next moment, he was hopping from foot to foot, unable and unprepared to dodge the slew of attacks. They might have only hit around his lower leg and ankles, and luckily a few fell on his shoes. He looked like an idiot, hopping around like he had a fire lit under him. Better than letting all those quick, furious attacks hit!
He didn't want to wait for the blows to end, they were too fast and quite painful. So instead, he dove towards it, sliding along the ground, and snapped at it, in a Thunder Fang attack. After that, he rolled, so that he was lying flat on his stomach, and let loose a Flamethrower attack. He doubted that rufflet would easily be able to dodge--but the tricky little bird might! He quickly scrambled to his feet, aware that his lower legs would probably sport a couple bruises. This whole fighting business was a nasty deal, but no worse than he was used to fighting gijinka. If he ran into something super strong...well, he was going to have to run for it. He was only running into pokemon who were tough, but he was able to hold his own. He had every confidence rufflet would be his!
He took a couple steps backward, narrowing his eyes. Had the attacks hit? One or both? He was ready to attack again, even as he wasn't sure where rufflet stood at this point. The best thing to do was not to underestimate the pokemon. It was a tough kind--anything that was able to evolve into braviary? Had to be. The smoke from his attack was clearing, and he carefully watched for the little pokemon... [/style]

WILD POKEMON APPEARED! [/style] Rufflet || Male || Sheer Force || Flying / Normal || 05 Peck || Leer || Fury Attack || - - - || Ha! Now that would teach that meddlesome human not to mess with him! The Rufflet launched assault after assault all over his ankles, swearing he’d peck them full of bloody holes before the day was over. He was a furious little bird and unfortunately, that damned human had picked a fight with him! Once he was done, the little bird jumped back and ruffled up his feathers, puffing out to make himself look bigger and chide the human on his foolishness.
But just as he was about to do that, spinning elegantly on his heels, he heard a crackle shoot through the air. He realized just what it was all too late, and fangs sunk into his side with an electric spark flying every which direction, and charring the feathers on his wing where they made contact.
The flamethrower was just overkill, because the Rufflet was out like a light the second the thunder fang hit. There was no real pain in it, just a sudden buzz and then he was gone; being weak to electric types and being fairly young, there was no resistance whatsoever.
