Don't wanna watch it all go by so I'm gonna fly HIGHER THAN I EVER COULD [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
For someone who had just received her first pokemon, Serenity couldn't have been more overjoyed. She had gotten to pick from a whole list of pokemon. Plus there had been more than one of each kind. It was perhaps the most exciting moment of her life, and yet the moment she had met the right one for her, she'd known. So it was she'd found herself with her first ever pokemon: a chikorita.
Now they were getting to know one another, and she was happy it was going so smoothly. The chikorita seemed quite pleased to have a trainer of its own. It was walking about Aether park, sniffing the flowers. Serenity smiled, watching it as she followed cheerily along behind. Oh, she knew that they would have a long road ahead. There would be battles, and she was nervous about that. She knew that her and her new little pokemon friend would have to battle together. Chikorita, whom she had not thought of a name for yet, would have to battle and it would be her instructing her on how to do so. So far, the pokemon only really knew two moves. Tackle, and growl. Really how uncomplicated was that? After all, that was two battle moves only. She could work with that...she hoped. She knew there were wild pokemon, even here. She didn't know if she wanted to run into any as uncertain as she felt or not. For now, she was content to let her new pokemon explore.
Her bright pink hair had been a matter of some contention. People thought she dyed it that way, only she hadn't. She was born with it. She did so like the color, though! Pink was definitely a color she thought was pretty. Like the pink flowers, that were all over this park! Pink, and purple, and yellow, and more. She smiled to herself, and followed the moving green leaf on top of the chikorita's head. She loved how there were shiny green little dots that looked like the pokemon was wearing a necklace. And wasn't she such a pretty shade of green, too? She really did like her choice of pokemon.
"Chi-chika?"
"What is it, Chikorita?" She knelt down, wanting to put a hand on the grass type pokemon, but she was a little wary. She wanted it to warm up to her, and not to startle it in any way. The pokemon had sounded like it was asking a question. She wished she knew what the pokemon was saying! Only she didn't, and she could only do her best to fathom what it wanted. She would do her best, too! Chikorita was looking up at a tree with lovely blossoms, and Serenity, hoping she wasn't wrong, picked up the pokemon, holding it out to the blossoms.
"Chiiiiika!" Chikorita was delighted, bringing its face to the bright pink blossoms to get a good smell of them. Then, it squirmed a little, and Serenity put it back down, where it gave her a rather pleased look before resuming its explorations. Things were going better than she could have hoped! She even managed to anticipate what her pokemon had wanted. With a pleased expression in the form of a small smile, she continued to follow the pokemon, wondering what the day would bring next.

WILD DEERLING APPEARED! [/style] deerling || female || clorophyll || normal/grass || level 6 tackle || camouflage || growlIt was a pretty day for explorations, and Deerling was already tired of hiding away in the bushes of the giant park with its mates. The weather wanted her to be out, around the flowers, around the trees, so who were she to say no to the calling?
The currently pink-furred pokemon was prancing in the garss, among the pink flowers, obviously having fun just by running around them. None of the flowers were stepped on and ruined, Deerling was much more careful than to accidentally stomp them while dancing among them. From time to time she stopped, leaning down to nudge some of the scented plants, only to resume playing not long after.
It was then that she caught a glimpse of the human and her little partner, and in a hurried dash, she hid herself behind a tree. Peeking out curiously, she was eyeing the pair, watching what they were doing, too shy to get out from her little hiding spot, though anyone would be able to see her easily. "Dee."

Don't wanna watch it all go by so I'm gonna fly HIGHER THAN I EVER COULD [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
Her chikorita was the first to spot the nearby pokemon. Narrowing her ruby eyes, she was content to simply go about exploring, as if she hadn't. Maybe she would say hello, but this new place, and being outdoors, was so exciting! She didn't want to stop her explorations. Only then, her trainer saw the deerling, and gave a little 'oh!' of surprise.
It was adorable! Cute, and downright adorable! It wasn't on her team list, but she bit her lower lip, looking at it quietly. Even if it wasn't, it was simply too cute! Surely someone kind and nice would be so happy to have the deerling? Or ought she to let it be, so that it could go its own way in peace? But someone ought to love it, and they could work with such a lovely pokemon, couldn't they? Yes, they might, might they not? She didn't have an interest in hurting it. Even if she knew her new partner needed experience. Just look how cute it was!
"Hello there, little deerling," she greeted it with a friendly smile. Chikorita looked back over her shoulder, and then walked up to the deerling, curious. She had never met a pokemon of this kind before. Bred in the lab's breeding center, she had met only some kinds. Still, it looked friendly.
"Chi-Chiiika," she announced, in greeting. Serenity giggled, and knelt down, stretching out a hand.
"Are you shy, little one?" If she did capture the deerling, she would find such a nice person to give it a home. The friendship between human and pokemon, after all, was wonderful and rewarding. She thought herself very fortunate indeed, to be partnered with her chikorita. She wanted a name for her, but she had yet to think of one. Whatever it was should be special. She wondered if the deerling saw many humans or pokemon in this park. Probably lots of pokemon, and didn't humans come through here all the time? The park was so pretty. But the outside world was too! Wouldn't the deerling like to see it? There were bad people in the world. But there were good ones, too. She thought she might be a good person--she tried to be, anyways.
"Come now, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm Serenity, and this is my chikorita." She slowly reached into her pack, and pulled out a little apple. Pokemon liked apples too, right? Chikorita bounded over, sniffing it, and then turned back to the deerling. Did it want it? If not, she did! She had gotten one earlier, when she had first met her human, and she had thought it delightful!
"Chikooo," she called to the deerling. It was good, wouldn't she like to come and try? Her human was good, too. Chikorita knew she had found a nice person, and was pleased. She wasn't really in the mood to battle just yet, but she would. She would fight alongside her human, if she was asked, and do her best, too!

WILD DEERLING APPEARED! [/style] deerling || female || clorophyll || normal/grass || level 6 tackle || camouflage || growlDeerling peeked out from behind the tree she used as a hiding spot cautiously. Cautiously and curiosly. She was eyeing the human and her partner, but didn't really dared to go any closer, even though they seemed nice. As they called out to her, she moved back behind the tree quickly, just to peek out again a moment later. "Dee..."
They seemed nice... They really seemed nice... So it wouldn't hurt to get just a little bit closer, right? She walked out from behind the tree and stepped closer... One step. Another step. Yet another step. She was going slowly, head lowered just a little bit.
At the sight of the apple, her ears flicked, and she raised her head, eyes on the fruit, then on the girl, then on the fruit again. Was it okay to take a bite? Can she really have some? Stepping even closer just a tiny bit, she leaned in, neck straight, as if too shy to actually walk too close. First, she just sniffed at the apple, then took a tiny bite and stepped away quickly, chewing and swallowing the fruit. It was yummy!
She looked back at them curiously, but didn't get closer.

Don't wanna watch it all go by so I'm gonna fly HIGHER THAN I EVER COULD [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
Serenity was quiet as she watched the deerling approach, but there was a smile on her face. Chikorita was watching from beside her. Wild pokemon were silly! They didn't have humans of their own to help them get stronger and battle other pokemon. She supposed they did it on their own, but it really wasn't nearly as effective, in the little grass pokemon's mind. Serenity's smile only brightened as the pokemon took a bite of the apple, and she glanced at her partner pokemon, then back to it.
"It's good, isn't it?" she asked, and kept her hand outstretched. "It's for you, so you can have the rest if you'd like, you know!" she told it cheerily. Maybe if it liked the apple, it wouldn't mind sticking around? She had no desire to hurt it but wouldn't it be nice if it decided to come with them without even a battle? She knew that some pokemon did that, and she really thought that was a nicer way than battling. Only she knew she would have to battle with her new partner--she owed Chikorita that. Otherwise how would it get any stronger and evolve? She didn't want to be a disappointment to her partner pokemon. Well, she thought of them as partners, anyhow. Friends, even. People and pokemon were the best when they worked together.
She settled onto her knees among the flowers and soft grass, keeping her hand outstretched. Chikorita saw a butterfly and turned to follow it in delight. Serenity laughed lightly. What a nice choice she'd made! She wondered how long it would be just the two of them for. She didn't mind it, really. She was eager to catch other pokemon, but she had patience for it, and lots of.
"Do you live here?" she asked the deerling, though she knew if it were to answer, she wouldn't understand unless it was a more 'human' gesture. Pokemon born and raised in the lab, like hers, knew that a nod and a head shake were good for yes and no, and had more human-like body language. But a wild pokemon might not, unless it had somehow learned from humans. That was okay. Pokemon were smart! They could learn just about anything.

WILD DEERLING APPEARED! [/style] deerling || female || clorophyll || normal/grass || level 6 tackle || camouflage || growlOh, can she have that apple? It was yummy indeed, but she was a little bit vary of going closer to the human. Not that she was scary at all, or that Deerling was afraid of her. No, on the opposite, she seemed nice enough. Only Deerling was just too shy...
Building up some courage, now that she was curious enough of the other, she stepped closer again and took another bite of the apple, not jumping back out of caution this time. As she was chewing the fruit, she was also looking at the smaller Chikorita from time to time. She flipped her ears as she was addressed, and looked back at the human. She tilted her head. Of course she was living here. The rest of the city was ugly, and this park was big enough for her and her friends. She turned her head back toward where she came from, as if indicating she is living there, then glanced back at the human. "Dee, dee!"
She looked at the Chikorita again and leaned her head down to sniff at the other pokemon curiously, the little yellow flower moving on her head in the breeze. She wanted to know more about these guys. "Erling?"

Don't wanna watch it all go by so I'm gonna fly HIGHER THAN I EVER COULD [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
If Serenity had wondered if the pokemon could understand, she didn't now. Much to her delight, the deerling seemed to be responding from what she could see. It was indicating with its head, and if she understood correctly, it was meant as an answer. It lived here, then? Well, she didn't blame it. This was a lovely place to live.
Chikorita sat down, and sniffed noses with the deerling, before it went on to say proudly,
"Chi. Chi-chika chi-chiiii." Not that Serenity understood, but what her pokemon had told the deerling was that she had lived in a human building, until Serenity came and took her. They were to be friends, and Serenity would show her places all around the world. There were probably beautiful places like this one, maybe even more. She was going to be able to evolve, and be stronger, and see the whole world. Serenity had called her her partner, and friend. Pokemon and people could be good friends, and wild pokemon like deerling could come too, if they wanted.
Serenity, not knowing anything of what her partner said, still opted to speak to the deerling too.
"Well, it is a lovely place to live. Chikorita and I are traveling, though. We're going to see lots of lovely places. She's my partner, you see--though I am sure we will meet more friends and partners. We're going to work together and do and see wonderful things!" She truly sounded excited about the prospect--she was! The world was a big place, and neither her nor her grass type pokemon had seen much of it. That would change though. They were going to see the mountains, and caves, and rivers and forests! Together and with whatever else pokemon traveled with them, they would see it all! It would be so interesting.
"I haven't been to lots of places, you see," Serenity told deerling. "So I want to see new places, and with my pokemon. I only have Chikorita right now, but any pokemon are welcome to come with us and see too! I'm going to protect them and keep them safe until they can protect themselves," she said proudly. And she would, too. She was a bit naive. She wasn't aware of the darker side of the world--not yet. That was something she'd have to learn, unfortunately. But at least she'd learn it with her pokemon.

WILD DEERLING APPEARED! [/style] deerling || female || clorophyll || normal/grass || level 6 tackle || camouflage || growlDeerling was listening to the Chikorita talk. It all sounded so interesting! She couldn’t imagine being born and raised in a lab, she was always outside and never in such places. Though she wasn’t envious about that, the part about friends and other exciting places and fights and adventures made her curious. “Erling, dee deerling deeee!” She replied, sure that they will have a great time together and that she would also like to do things like that.
She looked back at the human. All these things they talked about sounded so exciting! She wants to see the world, other beautiful places around. She didn’t dare to wander out into the city, seeing that it would be dangerous and ugly, and not as pretty as the park here. Also, she was way too shy to go anywhere alone... And all the humans would just want to hurt her, and she didn’t want to run from them all her life. But seeing forests and caves and mountains and lakes sounded so inviting.
“Dee, deerling!” Shyly, she stepped closer the human and ate the remaining apple she was holding out. Before, she only dared to take a bite, but now she was there and ate the fruit calmly, not being vary of the human anymore. She liked her. The human and her Chikorita. After finishing the apple, she nudged the leg of the human, poking her with her nose, clearly happy and excited. “Dee, dee!”

Don't wanna watch it all go by so I'm gonna fly HIGHER THAN I EVER COULD [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true]
Chikorita was clearly happy that she had gotten the trainer she had. Some humans were unkind and treated pokemon poorly, she had heard of such things. But not hers! Hers was kind, and didn't make her stay in the pokeball when she wanted to come out. She cared for her even though they had just only met, and she was always smiling and talking to Chikorita. Other pokemon were not always so lucky. Chikorita hoped that deerling would never meet any like those!
"Chi-Chi. Chikaaa." Of course deerling could come along if she wanted. Serenity had already told her that they were looking for other pokemon to come along with them. If deerling was afraid of anywhere, she would have her friends and Serenity to protect her. She could even hide in her pokeball if she didn't want to be somewhere or was scared. She shouldn't be scared though. Serenity and her pokemon were going to be a strong team. Together they had nothing to fear! They would see the beautiful places, and Chikorita was very excited, too!
Serenity put her other hand in her lap as deerling came forward, looking calmer. She didn't understand why a pokemon would be afraid of a human, but maybe not all humans were friendly with pokemon. Why she didn't understand, though. Pokemon were wonderful! Even if some kinds were scary, most of them, like deerling, were precious and sweet--or so she thought. She had yet to meet the other kind, after all.
When deerling nudged her knee, she smiled, delighted. She loved the little yellow flower on her head, wasn't it just the cutest? She hoped to get cute pokemon like deerling. They were so nice to be around. She gently reached out and pet deerling's head. What soft fur she had! Chikorita was soft, but they definitely felt different! She wondered if deerling liked living in the same place all the time. If it understood her, maybe it would want to come with them, and see what happened?
She removed a pokeball from her belt, and explained as best she could,
"This is Chikorita's pokeball. If you want to come with us, you can have your own pokeball. If ever you want to come out, you can. See, watch," she said, and motioned to Chikorita. Chikorita pranced forward, delighted to be able to show deerling this new thing. She touched her nose to the front of the pokeball, and in a shine of bright but rather pretty light, she was there no more! Serenity then tossed the pokeball lightly, and it bounced on the flowers and grass. Chikorita appeared again, and turned a circle.
"See? In the pokeball, it's warm and safe. You don't have to be in there to travel with us, but if you want to, you have to go in and then can come out again or stay in there to check it out if you want to!" Chikorita nodded, then added,
"Chi-ka." This was meant to say that Chikorita could hear what was going on from inside her pokeball, and come out if something was interesting to her. Serenity, unlike some humans, let her come and go as she pleased from it. But it was warm to sleep in, and much safer than anywhere else!
Serenity smiled, and wondered if deerling wanted to come, or wanted to stay. She wouldn't make it come along, not if it didn't want to. Yet she would be happy to have her along if she did. Chikorita, she knew, could also use some pokemon friends to talk to. It was true they were looking for them. What happened along their journey, she wouldn't know until later. But for now, new traveling companions and friends were always a good thing!

She was a bit worried about the evil people out there, or dangerous places too, but still, an adventure sounded like something she would have liked to do. She watched as the girl and the Chikorita demonstrated how the pokeball worked, and she got even more excited. That way, she wouldn't have to worry about evil people attacking her either! So fun!
"Dee, dee, dee!" She pranced around, growing more and more excited as the two were talking to her. Oh, she wanted to go! She wanted to go with them! If only they would offer to take her with them!
"Erling, dee, deerling!"

Serenity could tell that deerling was quite excited by the prospect of traveling too. She didn't blame her. What must it be like, to be in one place all the time, and be unable to have friends and go to see others? Chikorita nodded to her, and then pointed to deerling and the pokeball.
"Would you like to come with us, deerling?" She asked, smiling. Chikorita nodded again, and Serenity smiled warmly at the little pokemon. Well, she hadn't really been sure until then, but now that she was, she tapped the pokemon lightly with the pokeball, and there it was, inside! Her first pokemon capture! It was so perfect, too. No one had had to get hurt, even if she knew she would have to battle some to get them to come with her. She wondered if deerling would come out, or if it would want to stay and get used to the pokeball. It didn't come out right away, and she didn't mind. Her and Chikorita were still exploring! Plus she had more pokeballs left! They might meet new members for their team! That thought was exciting, and Chikorita gently nosed the pokeball, looking pleased. Now deerling would get to travel, come what may!
Serenity stood up, and picked up the apple core, walking over to one of the many park trash cans. Then, rethinking, she went over to a patch of dirt, and dug a little hole. There she put the apple core and covered it over. It would be good food for little bugs, that way! Chikorita didn't quite understand why her trainer had done that, but no matter. She probably had a good reason. They walked over to a big tree, and Serenity looked around. The park was so lovely today. She had brought lunch too, but it wasn't time for that yet. She smiled down at Chikorita, who was also looking around. They were both wondering what they'd come across next!

But non-moving targets weren't all that fun, as playing around with ones that could actually respond to him.
He wanted to play.
He wandered around to search for a playing partner, and to his luck, he didn't need to search for too long. He spotted a human and more importantly, a pokemon next to her, and he knew he will have a nice time, at least. Playing was fun all the time anyway. "Phaaan-phy!" He called out and rushed toward them, coming to a stop with a skid at a convenient distance from them. He took a playful stance and called out again, waiting for a response from the others. "Phan, phan!"

Serenity looked over when she heard the phanphy announce itself, but it was her Chikorita who knew what he wanted. She had not really wanted to battle with deerling. Deerling had been a shy pokemon, and would likely have not appreciated being attacked. Yet phanphy seemed to want to try itself against her, and she wanted to test her own battle skills, also.
She only had two moves, and wanted to grow stronger so she could learn more. She places all four feet on the ground, taking up a stance, and let loose a Growl. What else could she do, with only two moves? Well, she could use her brain, and Serenity was only just now realizing that they meant to battle. So Chikorita made the move on her own. She feigned a dash to the side, but then from the side she aimed to Tacklephanphy. Perhaps she could catch it by surprise, as she had looked like she intended to actually run past phanphy? Well, it was worth it to try!
Serenity watched her Chikorita initiate a battle, feeling proud and yet a little worried all at the same time. She didn't want either pokemon to be hurt. Yet they seemed to like battling, didn't they? She might as well try to do her part! Chikorita had made the first move, and she watched, rather impressed by the ploy. Would it work? She hoped so! It would be wonderful if Chikorita won her first battle. She knew Chikorita only knew two moves, as well. It was her job to help her pokemon win, and she tried very hard to look around and see ways that she could do so. What had she read about...terrain! For a pokemon that was important, right? She looked around the terrain about the battle ground. There were rocks and trees, and maybe Chikorita could use those? Well, she would have to think fast, because the first move had already been made.

He shivered just a slightly bit, but he would certainly not back down! He wanted to play, he came here to do that, so who would he be to flee? Especially when the Chikorita seemed to be willing to play with him!
He saw the Chikorita circle around him, but he couldn't follow her all the way. Out of pure instinct, he used Defense Curl just in time to partially protect himself from the attack. From the force of the attack, still curled up, he rolled a bit away and uncurled right away. He didn't turn toward the Chikorita, instead he jumped against the trunk of a tree, bending a bit and then leaping away, targeting the grass type with a Tackle, gaining some extra force and speed from his start.

Chikorita's attack hit, but for some reason she didn't feel as if it hit the way it ought to have. Confused a moment, but still a bit pleased, she turned to shoot a glance over her shoulder at her trainer.
"Chikorita, look out!"
Serenity tried to give warning, but it didn't come soon enough. Chikorita was suddenly hit from behind by a tackle attack from phanphy, and went sprawling end over end in the grass and flowers. She stood, shaking her head, and sneezed. She braced her feet, and raced towards the phanphy, but as she ran she let out another Growl! Leaping into the air at the last minute, she aimed to hit him right on the head with her own, in a head long Tackle attack. This time she purposely rolled as she landed, coming swiftly to all four feet behind phanphy. She had been quite put off from the rough tackle phanphy had given her, but she wasn't about to let the rough treatment get to her. She might be a little disgraced, with a sore backside, but just let him think to try that again! She would not make the mistake of looking away again.
"Good job, Chikorita!" Serenity cheered from where she stood. No matter what happened, she would cheer her pokemon on. She had faith that chikorita could win. She knew she had picked a good pokemon. Still, this was Chikorita's first battle. The fact the grass type pokemon had looked away from phanphy when she should not have taken her attention away from him showed that quite clearly. She pursed her lips, hopeful. "Don't look away from phanphy again. You need to watch his moves so you can get out of the way," she said loudly enough to be heard, encouragingly. Chikorita huffed. She knew that, now. She was ready this time.
