Alexi didn't know what he was doing here. He didn't like close quarters, and this whole place... it freaked him out. He was boxed in, even if the particular chamber he was in was fairly big by most standards, and it was somewhat dark, though he knew there was the cave entrance right at his back. No, this whole place made him uneasy with memories he'd rather not delve into... so why was he here in the first place?

Oh right. Because Zackariah Knite and Oliver Radleigh had handed the order down. He had to go train in a place that was likely to have Pokemon that would not be weak or even neutral to him. He almost wanted to kick them right in the ass and ask them to kindly fuck off. He wasn't some errand boy for them to do what they pleased! He wouldn't just take orders just to take them!

So why was he here again?

... Okay, like I mentioned in the cbox, any Team Rocket members are welcome to pop in and scare the crap out of him with booby traps and whatnot. Just roll for Alexi though, don't want to mod with them, just let them scare the poor zebra. Oh, and whoever takes this, could you please tell me if I have open permission to swap my mons in and out, mainly those that I've caught for others and eggs (and their counters) to hatch them for him? I mean, I plan to ask (if I can) before I add them in, but this is to make sure it's okay. That way I can take out mons that won't be on his final team and replace them with any I actually do find. Posting order should be Alexi/Rocket/Mod (though the Rocket can be skipped if the mod gets there first and it should only be ONE Rocket) Wow, long OOC, gonna shut up now. *slinks off*

The sounds of footsteps on the cave floor caused the sleeping ponyta curled up behond a boulder to jerk awake. Slowly and ever so carefully she stood, peeking out curiously from her hiding spot. She spotted the human almost instantly, watching him as he hovered there on the cave path with a scary look on his face.

Her flames stood out in the darkness, and even to the untrained eye there was a chance anyone could see the short mane of fire that sprouted from her neck. The pokemon could not always hide in this cave, which had led her to be picked on by several of the others she had met. in this situation normally she would flee as fast as her legs could carry her, but there was something about this human... and despite everything, she let her curiosity get a hold of her and stood her ground.

Alexi was transfixed by the sight of the small horse-like creature that walked out. This... this was worth all of it. He didn't care about being stepped on anymore... or anything else for that matter. This one Pokemon made it all worth it. He had not had a Ponyta in such a long time... he was nostalgic for a good ride. He didn't want to startle her now... a calm befriending was what he wanted. Yes. Ponyta were beautiful creatures, and this one was something he did not want to harm. He would willingly destroy most Pokemon with a single Discharge... but not this... not this beauty. Drawing up on every strand of knowledge he remembered from his old riding days, he slowly strode towards her, holding his hands out. "Hey there, little girl," he murmured softly, his tone gentle and soothing. "It's all right, I'm not gonna hurt you... Come here, I just want to pet you." He wished he had a treat to give her... but all he had was the bare salts from his palms. Now what he had to do was hope she wouldn't get scared off...

Her ears perked forward, simply staring at the mysterious boy as he noticed her. It wasn't until he moved towards her that the ponyta reacted, skittering backwards a few awkward, frightened steps before backing against the wall. She snorted, making a few extra steps before bolting a few paces around the human and out of the corner she had found herself in.

Now out in the open she was both more tense and confident, lowering her head a little in a threat. "Ponyta..." She snorted again, keeping her distance from him as she glared. It wasn't that he seemed like a bad person... but there was just... something about this human that sparked her interest. Finally she took a step forwards - just one - and reached out her head to get a closer look.

"Shhhh, no no, sweetheart, it's okay," Alexi murmured softly, a little smile on his face as the small animal skittered back, and then suddenly she was around him. He wasn't here to cause trouble for her though. He just wanted to tame her, ride her and give her a good home. So, even though he was boxed in, something that had him uneasy, he ignored it to instead hold still for her, assure her that he wasn't going to go anywhere. "Shhhh, sweetheart, I'm not going to hurt you," he murmured, presenting his palms to her again. Ponyta, and many other Pokemon for that matter, usually liked licking salt off of a person's hand, so even if he didn't have any treats to give her, this ought to do, right?

Horses really do like that. Actually, a lot of this post comes from my experiences around horses and how to catch them after they run off. I've only ever managed to catch my baby sweetheart after he's gone without the use of food, but that's minor details. And, as I said earlier, interfere with the Ponyta, and I (and several other people here who want the babies of this thing) will murder you.

She jerked a little, stamped her hooved and reversed, and then trodded in a diagnal direction towards the strange human. Her curiosity kept growing, and although she was still a little spooked by his presence, for what reason she still couldn't tell you, she found herself inching closer.

She whinnied at the human, happily amusing heself by dancing around him like a child again. Well, he hadn't attacked her yet... and it didn't seem like he would anytime soon... She slowed her pace, centering herself towards the human and taking short, quick little steps towards him again, her head held low. The ponyta paused again, hesitant to move any closer and yet standing only just barely a breaths length away from the human's touch.

"That's it, sweetheart," he murmured softly, tone still soothing and calm, "that's it, you don't have to be afraid of me, I'm not going to hurt you." He kept his hands open to her, offering. "You can lick them if you want, sweetheart, I don't mine," he stated softly, a kind smile touching on his lips. She was so close... but he wasn't going to close that final gap. He wanted her to trust him and come with him through the fields, and he certainly couldn't do that by forcing her. "Oh sweetheart," he breathed, heart thumping in his chest, held in place by the simple want to not scare her despite his unease with walls at his back, "you're beautiful..."

Eyeing the boy softly, the fire-type finally bagan to become more comfortable around the human. She eased he way over to him, shifting back and forth and pawing at the ground every few steps as if trying to make up her mind on the matter.

When she finally did step close enough to touch the boy her curiosity was brought to his outsrtched hands. She curiously tasted one, and the surprising taste left her a little flustered. She pranced in a tight little circle around the human, whinnying and gently pushing against him body with her own every few paces. \if nothing else, he was surely a fairly interesting human, the way he smelled and acted unlike anything she had been used to. It was definitely different.... but not bad... she might even come to like it in the presence of this young man.

He smiled at her as she continued to get closer. "That's a good girl, come this way," he cooed softly, smiling when she touched him. Her tongue was rough on his hand, swabbing at the skin and licking up the salt, and he couldn't help but smile at her. "You're such a pretty girl, did you know that?" he chuckled, laughing as she pranced around him, her body nudging hers. Moving slowly so as not to startle her, he reached out and laid a hand on her, gently stroking in a way he knew meant everything and nothing to a horse all at the same time. "Why don't you come with me for a while, sweetheart?" he asked, smiling. "I'll make sure you're groomed and you get plenty of time to run and even give you some food and help you get stronger. How does that sound?"

His hands felt nice... the ponyta soon found herself leaning into his touch, pressing against him and wanting more. She didn't really understand what he was trying to say, human language had never been her forte, but from the sound of his voice and the tone of his words she felt a warm invitation. Normally she would have bolted by now, frightened by the thought of being 'captured' by some ruthless trainer, but if she went with him then perhaps... it wouldn't be so bad after all.

She neighed happily, shaking out her mane and prancing about in excitement. This meant she would get to see the world didn't it? Suddenly she felt flooded by the possibilities that came with leaving the caves - her home - and journeying out into the vast world with these humans at her side. She made a little hop, whinnying again. She approached the boy again, still giddy with excitement and nuzzled against his shoulder. All right, she'd give these humans a chance then.

PONYTA HAS DECIDED TO JOIN YOU!!

Alexi smiled at the sight of the young Ponyta pushing against his hands, making sure to give her more attention with a soft chuckle. "I see you like that, huh?" He asked her softly, before she suddenly shook out her mane and began prances again excitedly. At first, his eyes widened at the thought that she was going to bolt, and his muscles tensed, ready to spring after her if he had to because dammit he wasn't going to let this one get away, only she hadn't been planning on running. She came close to him and nuzzles his shoulder, and so he gently reached around to stroke her softly. His free hand reached into his pocket, pulling out a single Pokeball and expanding it with an easy flick of the fingers. He offered it to her, wanting her to be comfortable with the temporary confines she would be in until they left the caves and he could really give her a chance to run.

So close... *grabby paws* Oh, and just to let you know, next post with Alexi will have at least two Shiny chance Ponyta eggs, if not a couple of Deerling eggs as well.

Her fiery tail flicked back and forth with excitement. The fire-type paused to stare blankly at the thing that the human held out to her, tilting her head to try and get a better look. Curious, yet beginning to trust this human anyway, she nudged it with her nose which resulted in a warm, bright flash of light, into which the pokemon disappeared.

Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle. Click! ~

Alexi grinned and whooped when he saw the Ponyta had gone into the Pokeball. He really did miss having a Ponyta. They were beautiful creatures, especially when they evolved. He loved them so much. He couldn't wait to get on and ride her. And yet... he couldn't leave the cave. Not yet. He didn't think a single Pokemon that he had "captured" was going to be enough to pacify his superiors that he had done his job. Not that he particularly cared about pleasing them. They would either be pleased about it on their own or they could go screw themselves. They could even do both for all he cared. Still, he heaved a sigh and jogged back to the center of the cavern again, where there was more room to bolt in any direction. He was ready for anything that might show up. Anything.

Swinub had been minding his own business scampering along the wall on tiny legs hidden by the thick fur that always seemed to drape itself wherever it pleased to. Today, for example, his hair wanted to fall directly over his right eye, and no matter how many times he threw his head back and snorted it always fell back into that same position it always fell back.

That was when he had seen the ponyta, curious and rather ditsy little girl she was, being tricked into a human device he believed he once heard called a “pokeball”. She was naive, trusting a human so much that she would practically willingly get fooled into submission. He for one was different, and since he was obviously the more experienced of the two it was his job to rescue her right? He puffed up his chest and snorted, now or never right? ”Swinub!!” And with that he lunged, little legs working hard as he used a powder snow, followed up by a hasty tackle.

Emo swinub to the rescue anyone? xD probably one of the worst pokemon to go up against an electric typed gijinka? Good luck!

Alexi saw the Swinub out of the corner of his eye, and he shivered, taking the fake snow all over him. Stupid Pokemon. He wasn't good with Ground types, which was the entire reason he was here in the first place. Smirking darkly, he decided it might be fun to go after this one and obey orders for once. He stood up straight, black eyes gleaming when he saw the Swinub bearing down on him, and then... he reacted. He gathered himself up before throwing himself forward in one quick attack, a halo of flames sparking up around him to light up the cave and melt away the snow clinging to his body. A Flame Charge attack wouldn't be the best thing to use against the thing, but it was a deal stronger than any of his usual electric attacks, so that was what he had to go with.

What he didn't count on was Remus' over-protective nature. The Shiny Ponyta appeared in a bright flash of light, snorting out fire and pawing at the ground. How dare this upstart hurt his Trainer! Neighing out a challenge and galloping forward, the little Ponyta reared up and slammed his hooves once, twice in rapid succession at the Swinub in a Double Kick attack.
