Who is already sick and pale with grief, ”Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, who is sick and pale with grief…” He was talking to himself. Talking as he hiked up that one particular mountain on that one particular night, when the moon was high in the sky. It was ironic that he just happened to have those few quotes in his mind from a certain Shakespearean play, but he liked to read and sometimes, that was all that was available. But what was he even doing up here, anyway? These areas were often of little interest to him, and he had plenty of work he needed to do. Paperwork to be filled out, logs to be entered, not to mention all of Ludwig’s stuff too. Heck, why oh why was he even doing his partner’s job, anyway? Couldn’t he just stop doing it and wait for him to get into enough trouble to begin working on his own? That was an entire possibility, and as he got higher up into the mountains, maybe he’d do that tonight. Magnus stopped, standing on a rocky out crop that overlooked a lower part of the mountain. It was time for a bit of rest; it was rather late after all, and he didn’t need to fall asleep on some godforsaken mountain and get attacked by a random wild Pokemon. Of course, being a Gijinka, he could probably defend himself. He preferred not to though, and just get out of this thing in one piece. He needed some peace, and as of late, not even the library could provide it. That thou her maid art far more fair than she:

Stone ground against stone quietly, and flecks of it spilled down the sheer side of a mountain wall, where high above the Gijinka, a strange 'rock' formation jut from its side. It wasn't truly rock though, but the dark metal of a Pokemon, dark enough to blend with the mountain's color in the night, even beneath the moon. And now it was was waking up, pulled from its rest by the proximity of a living being below. The too-round to be natural, apparently fractured, spherical part swiveled one way a few inches, then the other, and suddenly, within the crack, a pale red light flickered into place, forming an obvious eye.
Beldum stared down silently at the curious human several feet below. It wasn't aggravated, it just wasn't that kind of Pokemon. In fact it was intrigued. Few humans made it this far up the dangerous mountain it had made its home, full of Pokemon that only its outstandingly dense body allowed it to survive amongst. The Beldum wondered if it should release its claw's grip on the mountain and float down for a closer look. It shifted in preparation for such a move, wiggling metal hooks in the stone beneath it, and then blinked in startlement at the respose of the mountain. It had miscalculated the depth it had sunk into the stone hours ago, and now that it was withdrawing, a shard of rock as large as it was was coming with him.
For a second, Beldum fell silently through the air, then caught itself with its Levitate ability, using the Earth's own magnetic field repel from and keep aloft. The stone continued to plummet. If the human did not notice and move, it would either hit, or shatter nearby and shower him with shards of rock.

Who is already sick and pale with grief, ”Two of the fairest stars in all of heaven, having some business, do entreat her eyes…” Ah, sometimes he could’ve met such a girl with pretty eyes. Well, he thought with a sigh, leaning back onto his hands and staring at the world below, he did know someone with pretty eyes. He was forbidding himself to see this person until a later date though, and for now simply sat back and relaxed for the night. It had been an arduous journey up here, the least he owed himself was some rest before he left again. Lost in thought, reciting lines from an old Shakespearean play, he only caught the sound of crackling rock a few seconds after it actually happened. Blue eyes went skyward just in time to see a huge chunk of something falling towards him. ”Motherfu—“ No time to say anything. Magnus tucked and rolled immediately, as his training had taught him. These were those times he was thankful that the man who adopted him was trained military personnel, and had trained him in kind. The rock shattered precariously close to where he sat moments before, sending small shards flying everywhere. Slowly, Magnus sat up once again, staring at the small crater it left before his eyes were caught by something else entirely. A Beldum of all things floated nearby, eyeing him. He couldn’t even tell what that thing was thinking; his stare was devoid of anything. ”…um.” If that Beldum threw a rock at him, it would be a different story. However, Magnus was generally a more rational man, and he didn’t quite see the Pokemon toss something at him. It was also late, and he didn’t feel like wrestling with a rock tonight. Instead, he tipped his cap at the Pokemon in a polite gesture. ”Good evening?” Beldum were psychic types, they were supposed to understand. That thou her maid art far more fair than she:

|| Take Down ||Previous information Beldum collected from the rare human that crossed it's path, suggested that the human below would die. It was dark, it was silent, and in general, humans had sluggish reflexes when compared to almost any other Pokemon. Then the rock missed... that was good, and unexpected. Beldum liked the unexpected. Such as the human's arrival for one. His speed was another such unexpected thing. What percentage of humans would have been capable of reaction and avoidance of possible death, so shortly after noticing? Beldum dropped slowly through the air, following the same path as the nearly fatal falling rock had. It came to a stop at eye-level with the human and observed silently as the male collected himself and met it's one eye.
The human did not attack him. Another unexpected event. The human thought rationally, and did not automatically assume that just because there was a Pokemon around, that the rock was thrown by it. Without arms, throwing a rock of any size became more than a little difficult for Beldum. The best it could have done was batter away at the mountain's side until it collapsed atop the man. "Belll," The floating metal mass intoned deeply. It's pale red eye-light flickered and the Pokemon began a slow orbit of the uniformed human. It didn't see any injuries. "Dummmm."
The thing, that the human had moved atop his head, what was it? Beldum bobbed upward an inch putting it's eye above the human's two, and then slowly moved foward to nudge the item. A closer examination of this human anomaly was required. Starting with the hat.

Who is already sick and pale with grief, Was it just him, or was his heart going a lot more crazy than it really should have? It was probably the expected peace, then nearly getting his brains splattered across the grass by a rock that scared him, even though it shouldn’t have. He’d been trained for these sudden, spur of the moment situations, and perhaps he was falling out of practice. But he wasn’t to think about it now; he had to be on his guard. The Beldum slowly floated closer, coming to eye level with him. Blue eyes met a single red one, and they seemed to hold the stare for a long time. The Beldum’s “voice” was more of a deep, almost metallic rumble that resonated through his head, bouncing off the rocks in the area. Magnus kept his eyes on it as it seemed to circle him, watching him closely. He didn’t like being under scrutiny, in general, but the Beldum seemed to mean no harm. As well, he doubted a thing with no arms could actually toss a rock at him. Finally, the rock-like Pokemon was eye level and in front of him again, sounding off a deep tone. He tipped his hat at the Pokemon, and that seemed to get it’s attention a lot quicker, redirecting it towards the cap. It was deep green, military issue and quite worn out. The Beldum floated up and forward, nudging it just a bit, then again, tipping it off his head. ”…oh.” The only thing he could see was that the Beldum was curious about what it was. The mountains were a rather isolated environment, and he wouldn’t be surprised if some Pokemon had never seen a human before, let alone a hat. Magnus stooped for a second to pick the cap up, just about to put it on his head when he thought of a slightly better idea. He held it out to the curious Pokemon, letting the Beldum see it first. ”It’s a hat. Never seen one before?” That thou her maid art far more fair than she:

|| Take Down ||Beldum rarely had reason or want to speak the human language. What fragments it had learned came from the few humans who didn't immediately flee upon hearing the Pokemon's first attempts at communication in their minds, a voice not their own. Apparently it was frightening. It could have chased and learned a little more from their heads, but honestly, a frightened human mind was a mess better avoided.
However, the human who bent to retrieve the flimsy excuse for armor- for that's all Beldum could reason it as- was triggering the dark metallic Pokemon's need for company so that it could share its thoughts and observations so far. He had not attacked at Belum's intrusion of his personal space, nor when the armor had been knocked free, and the Pokemon's level of interested had raised several levels. Sleep was already forgotten about.
The words the human spoke to Beldum as the armor was offered had the Pokemon drifting back a foot. Had the features been capable of shifting, the half Psychic would have exhibited and obvious lack of understanding. That would not do. Yes, it was time to make another attempt at learning from one of those creatures that sheltered in the faraway 'city', a strange place which the picture it put together with fragments from different human minds showed as something not unlike it's mountain home, but given defined shape.
What had the human asked? Beldum focused its pale red iris on the human left eye and slipped in as quietly as possible, looking for words and meanings and connections. The item was a hat? << Not... armor? >> Before the thrumming of Beldum's mental 'voice' faded in the man's mind, the Pokemon had flipped it's back half forward and tugged the 'hat' from the hand that offered it up. Then up Beldum went, a few feet above the human's head, so it could get a better look in the moonlight that the tall form of Magnus had blocked.

Who is already sick and pale with grief, Upon offering his hat for inspection, the Beldum drifted back a food, staring at the green cap as if it were something very foreign. To the genderless Pokemon, it may as well have been a space rock, and even then, the creature had more of a chance of having seen those than a hat. Magnus pulled back his arm a little, but still held it in a way so that the Beldum could clearly see it. Curious thing it was, watching him with it’s single eye, still under inspection and though not appreciating it, not outright protesting either. He wondered for a moment if he got his Pokemon types wrong, and that the Beldum wasn’t psychic after all. That would be a bit of a disappointment, and he didn’t know how else to communicate when suddenly, a deep bass tone intruded on his mind. It didn’t even come from his ears, which was where sounds usually came from. Instead, it seemed to ring from the center of his mind, echoing before fading away and for a second, he wasn’t even sure if he had imagined it. ”…um…” Saying he was confused was to put the matter very lightly. He wasn’t quite a newcomer to the fact that psychic Pokemon could speak in a human’s head, but it always startled him nonetheless. ”No, not—“ But before he could even finish, the Beldum had flipped around and taken his hat in the three metal claws that stuck out from the bottom half. Startled, he seemed to draw back a bit but let the hat go, watching as the Pokemon floated into the air with it. He better not have been taking it away. ”It’s not armor. It’s sort of like… a decoration.” If it could even be put as that. He really didn’t know what else to describe it as but a hat. That thou her maid art far more fair than she:

|| Take Down ||Decoration? Beldum did not understand. It understood clothing of course, that which hid human flesh from view, and protected it. But they were soft, and so very fragile. And modest! That was a human word with a meaning that it continued to find amusement in. With it's hard, metal body, none of those were things Beldum had to worry about. 'Decoration' however? Why would the human require something on his head that served no actual, practical use? Feeling that asking such would receive no answer that would satisfy, Beldum let the question go, along with the hat, which fell slowly back toward the man's head.

You are from? >> It hoped that the question would trigger memories that it could sift through. Beldum moved around the mountains often, and sometimes, when those travels brought it closer to the city, it could sense other Beldum somewhere in the city. Communication was difficult, often impossible with the distance between the mountain and the city, and Beldum was left to wonder exactly how others of it's kind lived. << Why? Why... are you here? >> Yes. That was the correct way to word the question, Beldum thought.

Who is already sick and pale with grief, Alright, so perhaps calling a hat a ‘decoration’ wasn’t the best way to go about it. He watched as the large blue Pokemon slowly examined the hat, then floated back down to him. The Beldum replaced the hat on his head, and it only required a very minor adjustment to look like it had never been moved in the first place. Once again, the deep bass tone of the Beldum’s “voice” resounded in his skull again, originating from inside his head instead of the outside. He still needed to get used to that... ”Um... Somethines I’m from the city, yes.” Sometimes. Other times, he really didn’t have a permanent place. There was the city, then the grimy parts of the city... And then there was his truck that he shared with Ludwig while on missions, and then the great outdoors that they were sometimes forced to partake in because where they were sent literally didn’t have a building in sight. He thought on all the placed he’d been before, sometimes in mountains like this one... but he’d never seen a wild Beldum before, running around among the rocks, and then floating down to talk to him. The voice once again resounded in his head, and he absolutely knew he’d need to get used to this. He was interested in the duel psychic-steel type; perhaps he’d be able to catch it, if he went about it the right way. ”I’m here because I wanted to relax.” It was true enough; he had a stack of papers up to his hip back at the motel that he needed done. ”Humans get stressed, and sometimes we need to do something to stop feeling stressed.” Might as well explain it too; the Beldum probably had no idea what he was talking about. The question of the city had indeed pulled flashes of picture and memory from the human's mind, and Beldum observed the short, bright flares within the strangely flavored head with some interest. It would have more questions in the future, but those were less important. Truck? Ludwig? Missions? Those could wait. It also appeared that the man, Magnus, had never seen another Pokemon like him. Not a lot lived in the City, from what it could feel at a distance, but Beldum had hoped that the human mind would carry some news. Oh well.
<< Relax? >> Beldum echoed the word quizzically. Or quizzically to him. The human would be unlikely to hear the subtle difference in the tone of a 'voice' like the dual type's. The extended explanation cleared it up, and the Pokemon bobbed up and down thankfully, eye sphere swiveling to say locked on the man's face. << Understood. >> And it did. Beldum's own mind wasn't completely alien compared to that of the human. It was just... wild. But also intelligent, so that wildness was tempered. << Stressed rock breaks. >> Again, one unaccustomed to Beldum's voice in their head wouldn't notice the faintest hint of humor. << Broken rock kills the unwary. >>
Beldum paused then, and returned to a slow orbit of the man's body, eye darting up and down. A decision needed to be made here. Beldum could hear it in the man's thoughts, that wish for allegiance. Life among the mountains was once new, and interesting... but now? It wanted to see more, perhaps starting with the City. It also wanted to grow, more. << You did not attack this one. Unusal. Why? >>

Who is already sick and pale with grief, No matter how many times the Beldum repeated things, Magnus had yet to become accustomed to the voice ringing in his mind. It was just so unnatural; where sounds were supposed to come from either his left or right depending on which ear picked it up first, this voice was... not. It came from inside his head, in such a low tone that it could have just been a mistake. The fact that it seemed to come in a rather broken English wasn’t helping matters either. ”Um... of course.” A small nod. Broken rocks killed the unwary alright. Heck, it nearly killed him just a few seconds ago if his training hadn’t kicked in just on time. Fortunately, Magnus didn’t appreciate dying so much, and so would live another day avoiding falling rocks and such. He kept a careful eye on the Beldum as it did another full circle of his body, probably examining him once more. Magnus wasn’t that interesting; he was built pretty normally, and he didn’t have any interesting tattoos or scars. All he had were the three tongue piercings, and it wasn’t like the Beldum could see that. ”Oh, because...” Very slowly, as to not startle the Beldum, but somehow he felt like it could read his intentions straight out of his head anyway. Magnus reached out towards the floating rock, placing a single hand on it’s body. ”It’s not... the most productive thing to go punching rocks.” There was a smile on his voice, patting the rock once more before withdrawing. || Take Down ||Tongue piercing... tongue piercing. Beldum read the thought right out of the man's mind, and found that not even it's own vast, mechnical intelligence could make sense of the 'why?!'. It's pale red eye light dimmed even further, and for a moment the bulky metal body dipped to be more in line with the uniformed human's mouth before drifting back up. << I am not composed of rock. >> It was not capable of inserting offense into its mental voice, and would not even if it could. It was dark out, so it's dark metal did not warm in the sun, and a Beldum's body did not shine like that of many others who shared it's typing, so it could not fault the human the assumption.
<< Tell me... >> It was time to get to the point. The more he spoke to the human, the more images and thoughts that Beldum caught small tastes of as they conversed, the more it realized how much it was missing. It's entire life had been up in the mountains. It wanted to see more. Become more. However, Beldum wasn't one to jump rashly ahead without thinking. It's complex inner workings would not allow it to do so. << You wish for me to accompany you. I wish to leave. How would I be made use of, in your possession? >> Really, any answer that did not involve it being captured and then forgotten about would suffice. To be placed in one of those horrible contraptions that human's stored their Pokemon was even worse than remaining at the mountain for the rest of it's existence. Either way, Beldum would never see anymore of the world.

Who is already sick and pale with grief, Magnus supposed that he didn’t feel completely comfortable about having something reading through his thoughts. He watched as the Beldum floated down to be eye level with his mouth, before coming back up to stare at him. There was that deep tone in his mind, and this time around, Magnus didn’t flinch. He was slowly getting used to hearing things inside his head instead of outside. ”Oh, uh... sorry.” Then probably of steel, according to a Beldum’s typing. If he could remember right, they weighed a whole lot too... The question, however, caused him to pause and think. The Beldum could probably hear everything he was saying, on top of that, but it didn’t matter at the moment. What would he do if the steel and psychic type followed him? He supposed he’d be extremely useful on their missions, tossing everything with it’s weight and a firm take down... And Beldums did evolve into the ever-powerful Metagross. ”You’ll see a lot of new places, I suppose. The city, for one. And you’ll get to fight and level up, perhaps evolve if you get good enough.” Definitely not stuck in a Pokeball all day. The Beldum was of use to him, after all, and it’d do no good stuck in a capsule. That thou her maid art far more fair than she:

|| Take Down ||Indeed, Beldum was following along Magnus's line of though, as the human thought them. There could be no real lying to one such as it. Of course, as the Pokemon of a Trainer, it would feel honor bound to leave the thoughts of it's Trainer alone unless asked, or unless one or both of them were in danger. But that was for the future. And, yes, before Magnus had even opened his mouth to answer Beldum's question, the floating hunk of metal had already made a decision. However, it was somehow comforting to hear it in both voice and thought from Magnus.

If the Beldum wasn't incapable of being surprised, so deep in the man's thoughts, it would have wondered if it wasn't touching minds with another Psychic. Beldum felt its own mind was being read. Sight-seeing for one, and to do that, it would need time out of a Pokeball, or worse, a 'PC', and of course, Evolution. << I want to see the world, and learn, and evolve. I will evolve. You will assist. >> It was more than long overdue, Belum was beginning to think.
Floating back a few paces, Belum twisted and looked out over the edge it'd found the Human on, red eye swiveling to take in the sights, and then turned once more to look up at the majority of the great mountain it had called home for so long. It took only seconds to commit the scenery as it had changed over the night to it's memory. It wouldn't be missed much. << I am prepared for capture. >> Not that it could precisely be considered 'capture', as Beldum had chosen to go willingly.

Who is already sick and pale with grief, The Beldum’s voice rang out once again in his head, stating that his reasons had satisfied him, and that he would, er, ‘assist’ with his evolution. The idea of owning a Metagross was appealing, though he wasn’t sure how to go about it yet. He’d lived the majority of his life without Pokemon, minus perhaps a goldeen or two swimming in a tank, and only recently started building a team because Epispect recommended it. Magnus turned to watch the Beldum float over to the edge of the outcrop he’d been sitting on, before it turned back to him. The way he spoke was oddly... stiff, rather formal, and though he appreciated it, having the tones coming from a Pokemon was just a bit strange. ”Hm... alright.” Drawing a Pokeball from his pocket, he gentle tapped the floating rock with it, only to watch it disappear in a bright light.
